Enjoy an authentic Indian experience at the Padmini Haveli Guesthouse and soak up the village atmosphere in the old Fort of Chittor! Opened in Oct 2010, the Padmini Haveli is a traditional Rajasthani house, which was recently converted, with the help of a Swiss couple, in a guest house. Located in the old village of Chittor, within the walls of the Fort, it overlooks temples and palaces. From the roof terrace, there are sweeping views of the city and the Aravalli hills, beyond the Mewar plain.
The space
The Padmini Haveli Guesthome is the one and only accomodation for tourists in the Fort and previously it was not possible to stay anywhere here. It provides a unique opportunity to experience life in a small Rajasthani village.
You might wake up to the sound of the temple bells nearby, be accompanied on your morning walk by the children going to school or get a friendly invitation to enjoy a chai from a villager.
The Padmini Haveli is a traditional merchant’s house, built on two stories around a central courtyard, surrounded by an atrium that provides welcome shade during the hottest hours of the day. In the early morning or evening, guests can enjoy watching the sunrise or the sunset from the roof terrace, whilst they are fanned by the breeze.
Guest access
The Padmini Haveli has double bedrooms, rooms for tree people and a family room for up to four persons. All rooms have the air conditionning and an en suite bathroom with shower.
The library, on the northern side of the house, offers a refuge to read a book, use the internet or share strories with fellow travelers.
Free WIFI is available.
During your stay
Parvati and Sudhir Sukhwal will welcome you to this amazing place and ensure that you have a delightful, traditional Indian experience for a few days, whilst discovering the sights of Chittorgarh and soaking up the charming village atmosphere. They are both qualified guides who take great pride in opening the doors to their culture and history to tourists. They both speak English and French and have a great understanding of the needs and wishes of overseas travellers. Their aim with the Padmini Haveli is to offer visitors a guest home rather than a guesthouse.
