Welcome to Masaya Villa at Izu Peninsula Geopark! Masaya means “happy” in Filipino and it is also short for my name, Masayoshi. I named it so because this is my happy place and I want it to be yours, too. Our three-floor villa is located at the foot of Mt. Omuro and overlooks Sagami Bay, home to 7 of Izu’s islands. All of the private rooms enjoy panoramic views of the bay and islands, which look especially magical at sunrise. Enjoy the place by walking around our garden or taking an onsen bath.

The space
This is a Japanese-style 10-tatami room which can be arranged with 2-3 futons. You will have access to Hiroshi cafe, where you can make your own coffee and tea, which you can enjoy in your room, outdoor patio or our new viewing terrace. The room has its own balcony for you to enjoy the ocean view.

Guest access
You will be able to access the gardens, Hiroshi Cafe with an outdoor patio, BBQ area and the newly created viewing terrace. We also have a private hot spring onsen that receives hot spring water coming from the depths of Mt. Omuro, available for all our guests to use (please reserve in advance).

During your stay
After living outside Japan for 35 years, I now split my time between my hometown of Yokohama and my resthouse in Izu. While there may be times that I will not be at Masaya Villa to meet you, when I am there, I look forward to sharing my place with you. Feel free to ask me anything about Japan and Japanese culture; I'd be more than happy to talk about our mutual love for travel—I've been to over 100 countries and counting—over green tea or Japanese beer.

Please reserve the private onsen in advance at the cost of Y700 per person. If you're not bringing your own BBQ equipment, please let us know beforehand. We can provide the tools (grill, utensils, table and chairs, and 3kg charcoal) for Y3,950.

Spacious and recently renovated! Tucked away in a small forest but still close to the Izukogen station, a beautiful coastline, and Mt. Omuro. Sleep comfortably in traditional Japanese tatami rooms. Relax in either of the two ofuro baths - a smaller one and one large enough for a family of four. An open living room, dining room and kitchen area with a wood burning stove that will warm you in the colder months. Enjoy a meal outdoors in our newly constructed, screened in barbecue house.

The space
The main building is approximately 400 M2 or 4300 square feet. The house is divided into two complete homes. The interior of your vacation home is quite large by Japanese standards (approximately 200 M2). While many of the finishes are new, we have retained the essential theme - a place to come and relax with family and friends.

Guest access
You will have access to up to four guest bedrooms and all of the interior spaces shown in the photographs. Additionally you will be able to use the Barbecue House or "kincho" as it is called in Argentina. You can enjoy walking in our forest and the relaxation that a natural setting provides. No other guests will be using the property while you are here.

Other things to note
One of our neighbors is a licensed cook and for a fee can assist you with cooking or teach how to make traditional Japanese food. We are willing to do some pre-arrival grocery shopping for you if you will be arriving late and cannot get to the market. Reimbursement for groceries and a service charge would be paid directly after you arrive.
