So needed expending more time and sleeping else where due to them saying it sleeps 6 when there is only 2 beds. So they need to change that. "

El Palomar is nestled in beautiful tropical gardens only a very short 2 minute walk to beautiful beaches, a 10 minute walk from great beach restaurants and a 15-20 minutes walk from town. Originally it was built as a guest house for our larger house La Paloma but we have chosen it as our favorite retreat while in Las Terrenas. It is charming, colorful and simply furnished. It was designed using typical Caribbean materials, cana roof and colorful painted wood siding and partitioning walls, a quaint retreat for the young at heart. Our houses are private from one another but are connected by lush garden paths. Before you arrive we are happy to stock your refrigerator with breakfast items if you wish.

Villa Cocuyo; Beautiful Ecological Getaway, is the ideal place for a relaxing vacation or long stay. It is a rustic cabin with breathtaking views of the mountain from every corner of the house. It is surrounded by lush and a natural pine forest. Here you can recharge and enjoy the luxury of being in contact with nature.
This is an OPEN house. Each room is independent from the other with its own bathroom and private balcony. The house stands in a 7,899 MT2 lot, gated by rustic wooden poles and wire which is the traditional way in the country side.
The house has two levels. One is the main level in which there is: the entrance hall, the living and dining room, loft like. Two bedrooms one on each side with independent access doors, the kitchen and the main terrace. Then there is the stairs to go down where you may access the third room, the patio, the laundry area and a second dining table for six.
This is a residential area. When visiting, you will feel the tranquility of nature and the pine trees when there is a soft breeze. Being a residential area you will need to go to town for groceries or supply. The center of town is approximately a 12 mins drive from or to the house.
Villa Cocuyo is mainly in the category of an Eco Cabin because we have no emergency power generator or air conditioners. It is very rare that a power blackout occur at Jarabacoa, however this doesn't mean that it can't happen. If it does, it is part of the adventure and you will have light bulbs in the kitchen, two big led lamps and a flashlight for that purpose.

Casa del Arroyo is comprised of distinct sections, seamlessly connected by garden pathways:

The main house offers a comfortable living room with a fireplace, a master bedroom featuring a queen-sized bed and Netflix-equipped TV, a second bedroom with two double beds, and a small balcony overlooking lush gardens and the creek. The bathroom provides hot water for the shower and sink.

The Gazebo, perfect for gatherings, features a gas BBQ, a dining area accommodating up to 6 guests, and additional seating and relaxation spots.

The rustic kitchen, with wooden walls and a zinc sheet roof, is fully equipped with modern amenities such as a toaster, blender, refrigerator, stove, and oven. An outdoor fire pit (fogón) is also available behind the kitchen, along with ready-to-use firewood.

The laundry area is equipped with a semi-automatic washing machine and gas dryer.

An outdoor shower and steps leading directly to the creek enhance the outdoor experience.

Guest Access:
You will self-check-in and find the keys in a lockbox on the property’s main gate. The key set includes the keys to the gate lock, the house, and the stand-alone kitchen.

The Neighborhood:
The neighborhood of La Jagua is a rural community with very few houses nearby.

Getting Around:
The dirt road to La Jagua has some steep sections. A 4x4 vehicle is preferred, but it's not required. In whatever sort of vehicle, you may make the trip to Casa del Arroyo without any issues. There is parking available at the property for 2 cars.

The property is 35-40 minutes from Jarabacoa town, shops, markets, and nightclubs by car.

Other Things to Note:
- The maximum occupancy at Casa del Arroyo is 6 guests, excluding infants (under 2 years). The standard nightly rate covers up to 4 guests. For additional guests after 4, an extra charge of USD 5 per guest, per night, will be applied.

- The dirt road to La Jagua includes some steep sections. While a 4x4 vehicle is preferred, it's not mandatory. You can comfortably reach Casa del Arroyo with any type of vehicle.

- Small local stores ("Colmados") are available in the community. We recommend purchasing groceries before your arrival. Basic cooking items like potable water, salt, pepper, oil, sugar, and coffee are provided in our kitchen.

- La Jagua is a peaceful and friendly community, ensuring a secure environment. Casa del Arroyo is surrounded by a perimeter fence with privacy mesh, and there's a security camera in the parking area.

- Electricity interruptions are rare, and we have an inverter to ensure your stay is unaffected by any unforeseen circumstances.

- Our Starlink Internet connection provides reliable satellite-based access, with the living room offering the strongest signal.

- Given Jarabacoa's humid climate, we've installed dehumidifiers in bedrooms and the living area.

- Initial firewood is provided, with additional wood available for a fee of USD 5.

- Food preparation and cleaning services are available for an extra fee of USD 20 per day. Kindly inform us before your arrival, and we'll make arrangements with one of the local ladies.

- We accept small pets with a maximum weight of 22 pounds.
- An additional fee of $18 per pet per stay is applied to cover the permission for bringing pets to Casa del Arroyo.

2. Space Maintenance:
- Please refrain from leaving your pet unattended in our space and prevent them from biting or damaging the furniture.
- Do not allow your pets to climb onto beds, sofas, or carpets in the house. We recommend bringing a bed or mat for your pet to rest comfortably.

3. Pet Breed and Weight:
- It's essential to inform us about your pet's breed and weight when making the reservation. This helps us ensure compliance with the maximum weight requirement.

4. Responsible Behavior:
- When you leave the property to explore the surroundings, ensure that your pet is always on a leash.
- Pick up your pet's waste and dispose of it in the designated black trash bin to maintain a clean and pleasant environment.

5. Additional Cleaning Fee:
- If, despite your best efforts, we find pet hair on our carpets or furniture, an additional cleaning fee will be applied.

A romantic, unique two bedroom Cob Cottage that is built from earth clay, straw, sand and water and with no machinery, low carbon footprint. It's a perfect escape from the busy city life.

This rustic cottage - eco friendly - has walls that are 18 inches thick, a built in fire place in the second bedroom for warmth and ambiance in the winter, and cool in the summer.

This cottage is set up for up to two couple, one couple on the main floor, and there is another bedroom downstairs that can accommodate the second couple who share the bathroom on the main floor with you.

A two story structure, the living space with the kitchen, one bathroom, main bedroom and dining and relaxing area for 4 people are upstairs. A unique form of Glamping for those who enjoy unique green earth friendly environments. We do have many stairs from where you park to walk to the cottage.

Arrive walking down the white stone stairs, pass exotic bamboos and herbs, flowers in the garden to the top floor of the two level structure. All done in harmony with nature, and improve air quality. Here is a hammock waiting, a lounger and benches to stretch out on as you look across the mountain vista as if sitting in your own tree house. Perfect space to sip your coffee or tea and feel at one with nature. There is a table and chairs to dine. There is also the open air under the roof kitchen with a small fridge, stove cook top, sink with hot and cold water and all the pots, pans, cutlery, glasses and dishes to enjoy your meal. Just bring your food. We do have a wood fired oven, and we can create a dining experience using it IF we are here for a fee. This can be discussed after booking.

The bathroom gives you a two sided view as you shower feeling like you are in the trees. Hot water shower, toilet and washbasin.

This is the cob structure that is cool in summer and warm in the winter. Step out to the Koi fish pond with is tranquilizing waterfall that will put you in the mood to hike out to the main waterfalls.

Bring books to read as there is no television. This is the place to totally disconnect and be in nature. If you love to write, enjoy painting and sketching, play a musical instrument, this is the place to be inspired. Bring your yoga mat and find your perfect spot to meditate. You will feel the energy of being in the mountains. Across the valley you can barely see the other houses.

Bring your swim suites and hike out to the waterfalls. The first is a 20 min hike and the second falls is an addition 45 min. The re e is no need to get in your car as you walk from the Cob Cottage.

Also bring your hiking boots as there are many hikes, starting right from our gardens. They have breathtaking views of the mountains.

We have a second rental unit on the property and we live in the main house, so you may chose to interact with others, or be by yourself. There are a few communally shared spaces such as the BBQ area and the gardens.
