The contact person was very friendly and helpful the only thing was that it says it sleeps 6 people but there is a full size bed in one bedroom and a queen in the other room so in reality it sleeps 4 not six. They do have an air mattress but you can't fit it in any other the two bedrooms and to use it you would need to move all the furniture around in the tiny living room and there is no AC in the living room, so saying that it sleeps 6 is not Accurate. I had to end up leaving my parents and niece in that property and finding a hotel room to sleep in for my partner and me. So needed expending more time and sleeping else where due to them saying it sleeps 6 when there is only 2 beds. So they need to change that. "

El Palomar is nestled in beautiful tropical gardens only a very short 2 minute walk to beautiful beaches, a 10 minute walk from great beach restaurants and a 15-20 minutes walk from town. Originally it was built as a guest house for our larger house La Paloma but we have chosen it as our favorite retreat while in Las Terrenas. It is charming, colorful and simply furnished. It was designed using typical Caribbean materials, cana roof and colorful painted wood siding and partitioning walls, a quaint retreat for the young at heart. Our houses are private from one another but are connected by lush garden paths. Before you arrive we are happy to stock your refrigerator with breakfast items if you wish.

- "We had a great stay here. The hosts are wonderful. The place is very much like the description - traditional Dominican style house near the beach. It is simply but very comfortable. We were there in December and the temperature was delightful - no need for AC. The kitchen was well equipped and we cooked most of our meals. The location is outstanding - 1 block to the beach and a 10 minute walk to the start of town (20 mins to the supermarket). The Wifi was pretty much nonexistent - it would let you log on but it was really hard to get any webpages to load."

Each room had its own private bathroom wich was welcomed. The Cabin attendant, Jose and his wife we extremely friendly and attentive to our needs. Even though we never met the owners of the property in person, they were very helpful through WhatsApp and always in contact should we needed them. And let's not forget the sweetest companions; the sweet dogs on the property. They were a delight. We had an amazing experience. Too bad, too short. The only suggestion I'd personally give would be to move the entrance gate from the right side to the left. That would allow more space for cars to drive up to the parking area. Villa Cocuyo; Beautiful Ecological Getaway, is the ideal place for a relaxing vacation or long stay. It is a rustic cabin with breathtaking views of the mountain from every corner of the house. It is surrounded by lush and a natural pine forest. Here you can recharge and enjoy the luxury of being in contact with nature.
This is an OPEN house. Each room is independent from the other with its own bathroom and private balcony. The house stands in a 7,899 MT2 lot, gated by rustic wooden poles and wire which is the traditional way in the country side.
The house has two levels. One is the main level in which there is: the entrance hall, the living and dining room, loft like. Two bedrooms one on each side with independent access doors, the kitchen and the main terrace. Then there is the stairs to go down where you may access the third room, the patio, the laundry area and a second dining table for six.
This is a residential area. When visiting, you will feel the tranquility of nature and the pine trees when there is a soft breeze. Being a residential area you will need to go to town for groceries or supply. The center of town is approximately a 12 mins drive from or to the house.
Villa Cocuyo is mainly in the category of an Eco Cabin because we have no emergency power generator or air conditioners. It is very rare that a power blackout occur at Jarabacoa, however this doesn't mean that it can't happen. If it does, it is part of the adventure and you will have light bulbs in the kitchen, two big led lamps and a flashlight for that purpose.
We are proud to say that we have been hosting since 2018 and love to do so. Hope you choose us for your visit. It would be our pleasure.
