Mango Lodge is a pretty timber house with open-plan living and surrounded by nature. Inside the high ceilings, numerous doors and windows and open style gives the house a light and airy feel. Outside the large roofed deck gives you space to relax or dine with a beautiful view of the Caribbean Sea. The half-acre garden surrounds you with nature and gives you a feeling of being hidden away from the world. It also provides numerous fruits and flowers from mangoes to limes, heliconia to hibiscus.

But this is no isolated jungle cabin. A two minute walk through the garden brings you out in the centre of Toucari bay where to your left you have the village with its bars, restaurants and kayak/paddle-board hire. A minute or two walking through the village and you are at the beach where you can relax or go snorkelling out to Toucari reef - one of the best sites on the island.

Mango Lodge sleeps 6 guests in 3 bedrooms (plus a 7th guest can be accommodated on the day-bed in the living room). The master bedroom has a king-size bed, ceiling fan and doors that open out onto the deck with views of the ocean (yes you can sit in bed and gaze out to the Caribbean Sea). There is also an en-suite with wc and shower. The second bedroom has a queen-size bed, a private balcony facing the ocean, ceiling fan and views of the garden. - "we really enloyed the home, but mostly the location, where you could walk down into the tiny village in just a few minutes. the bay is so lovely to swim in and the main restaurant is wonderful. best to have a rental car as hiring a driver is very expensive. we took the local shuttle one day, but couldn't see much of the scenery and it is so beautiful. you can take shuttle into portsmouth and get groceries and enjoy the bay there if you don't want to drive a rental. very relaxing to just hang out."

The deck is perfect to watch the birds and overlook the pelicans in the bay diving for fish. Every morning you wake in the four poster bed to watch the sailing boats cross the bay on their way to Guadaloupe. The cottage overlooks a sweeping canopy of almond and palm trees down to the coastline just 100 metres away. In the evening you can relax and watch the sunset and then later open the awning on the balcony to star gaze in the night sky. As you can imagine it is a very special place to stay.

Treetops sleeps 2 guests in an open plan area. The cottage is new and designed in the Caribbean style which feels fresh and bright. The four poster bed is queen-size with a ceiling fan above. Doors and shutters open out onto the deck and balcony with spectacular views of the sea and rainforest landscape. The bed has a quality mattress, quality bedding and draped mosquito nets. The seating area has a comfortable couch and coffee table.

The bathroom is so cute. The shower cubicle is built of wood and feels like you are in a rainforest spa. You have the option of instant hot shower or a cold rain shower, and even have slats to overlook the rainforest as you shower. Truly a relaxing space.

The kitchen is well equipped and beautifully built locally with mahogany worktops. It has a stove, fridge-freezer, coffee caffatiere, toaster, kettle and all the glassware, crockery and cookware needed for your stay. Even standing at the sink you have a wonderful view of the bay.

The cool breeze and sounds of nature fill this light-filled airy living space with stunning views in every direction. The cottage is also practical with easy access down the steps from the road and all the facilities that you will need to make you feel comfortable during your stay.

Once inside you are drawn to the deck and the view of the sea just 100 yards away over the treetops.
Location is important and Treetops is a 1 minute walk to 'Keeping it real' a highly regarded fish and lobster restaurant and bar. Toucari has a couple of small local rum shops. Portsmouth is only a 10 minute drive where you will find grocery shopping and lots of restaurants.
On those chill out days you can just wander down to Toucari to hang out with the locals, watch the fishermen bring in their catch or drink a chilled beer. Or just lay on the beach or splash about in the shallows or snorkel, paddleboard dor kayak amongst the amazing reefs. Toucari is one of Dominica's most welcoming and friendly villages.

He didn’t pick us up at the airport as arranged (the lovely Alan and Ellie did), because he was busy doing something else. He drove us when we were leaving, picking up his girlfriend, and then dropping us… he had his phone with him in the car. After we were dropped off, our Air Antilles flight was cancelled… we called him (he would not have been far), but no answer to calls or text (we said the flight was cancelled)… hours later, he claimed in text that he had left his phone at home to charge. This was not true. We feel he was “getting busy” with his girlfriend. After being abandoned by Caso, we called the couple who picked us up when we arrived… they came and helped us find affordable accommodation near the airport, and did not want anything in return (we did pay them—they were so helpful, caring and really did go out of their way for us). TIPS: 1) Bring bug spray… Kate had mentioned in the binder left for guests to spray the netting around the bed about two hours before sleeping… it really does work to keep the mosquitoes and other bugs at bay. 2) Bring some warmer clothing… long-sleeved tops, light sweaters… It gets cooler at night, but is nice for walks by the Bay. 3) Places in Portsmouth & Toucari Bay often do not list prices, and tourists are charged more. The IGA in Portsmouth lists prices. 4) If you are doing your own cooking, bring what you know you would miss… not everything is available. 5) Local chicken is delicious! They are truly free run chicken. 6) It rains often (it is a tropical country after all), but it does not last long… I brought a large anorak with a hood. 7) If your plane is cancelled, the airline might not help you. Melville Hall Airport closes at 8 p.m. News travels fast of any cancelled, so some drivers and resort owners will come, offering very high prices. Nearby Marigot has reasonable accommodation. "

I was extremely taken by the large mountain transcending immediately behind of the property and the unobstructed view from the mountains to the ocean with no houses in site. I will be revisiting in October for the Creole Jazz Festival. The breakfast was also amazing, which was salfish with bananas, coffee, coconut water and mangoes. It was delicious. Inside, the living room and kitchen is an open floor plan with a kitchen bar separating the 2 areas. The kitchen is fully equipped with full size fridge/freezer, stove/oven, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, plates/glasses/utensils/pots and pans.
The 1 bedroom cottage has a king size bed and the 2 bedroom cottage has 2 queen size beds. There are desks and chairs in all bedrooms. All cottages have walk-in closets with storage area for suitcases.
All bathrooms have large sunken bathtubs/showers.

If you like to BBQ, we have a BBQ gazebo with table/benches with running water and lighting.

Walk around the grounds and pick your own fruits, (while they are in season), oranges, tangerines, starfruit and bananas.

Kootney Resorts is within 5 miles of many things to do. Cabrits Fort Shirley is about 3 miles to the north of us and 2 dive centers close by. For restaurants/bars in the area, we have The Champs about 3 miles away, up on the hill, overlooking the bay, C & D Beach Bar & Grill, located on the beach, about 2 miles from us and Coco Mango Restaurant is just down the road.
At Indian River, you can be paddled up the river to Cobra's restaurant and bar.
Both Prince Rupert and Douglas Bay are great for snorkeling and diving.

The comfortable bedroom opens onto two porches - but faces the scenic back porch. It has a queen bed with mosquito net, a work desk with a chair and shelves and a wardrobe.

The well-equipped kitchen opens onto the front porch, where there is a dining table and chairs. The dining set is moveable and can be carried inside.

The tranquil bathroom and shower have windows which open to the garden and mountain views. There is additional storage here for linen and supplies.

Conveniently situated in the Roseau Valley, the property is only a 7-minute drive from the capital, with access to the bus route.

Many of the major hikes, attractions and activities begin a short drive away. The Boiling Lake, Middleham Falls, sections of the Waitukubuli National Trail, Titou Gorge, Trafalgar Falls, the Boeri and Freshwater Lakes, and the Wotten Waven Hotsprings are all found within a 5 - 20 mins drive from the property.

The cottage has its own access and parking off of the access road through the property.

The hosts live and work on the property - which is a functioning organic farm - but there is ample space and enough distance for guests to enjoy their privacy and seclusion, yet close enough to have a sense of security.

We have 3 friendly dogs. They usually stay at our house but they do follow us when we go to the cabin or walk around the property. To stay here it would be preferable that guests feel comfortable with dogs. On your arrival they bark and want to meet you, then they settle down.

As this is an open cabin in the forest, and on a working farm, there will be a variety of wildlife. We recommend that guests are comfortable with nature to fully enjoy their stay.

There is a mosquito net over the bed.

Deborah's Cottage at Rainbow Hill Villa is located in the beautiful mountains of Cochrane, Dominica, a traditional Dominican village. It enjoys amazing sunrises and sunsets, cool and comforting year-round breezes, idyllic views of the mountains and surrounding country side.

The 1 Bedroom/1 Bathroom cottage was built in late 2019. Deborah's Cottage comfortably accommodates up to 4 guests, either 2 adults and 2 small children, or 3 adults.

The space
Deborah's Cottage at Rainbow Hill Villa has 1 Bedroom with 1 King Bed, plus 1 Full-size Sofa-Bed, full bathroom and kitchen.

Located in a quiet residential neighborhood, Deborah's Cottage is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac on 19,358 square feet of private, fully gated, flat and beautifully landscaped grounds with coconut trees, avocado trees, bananas, papayas and other lush vegetation. There is excellent cellular phone service from the property and WIFi.

Only a 15-18 minute drive to the capital city Roseau and business center, town activities and a host of unspoiled natural attractions, Deborah's Cottage is the perfect place to stay in Dominica.

SWIMMING POOL: There is an 8ft x 18ft above ground plunge pool located on the property. Children must be supervised by an adult at times when in or near the pool. Guests are solely responsible for the safety and health of their children, their guests and themselves.

VEHICLE PARKING: There is a dedicated parking space directly in front of the Cottage. To access this space, guests will need to manually open and close the gate.

Additionally, several more parking spaces are available through the electronic gate, near the Rainbow Hill Villa building. When parking near the Villa, please ensure your vehicle is facing the fence. This area can comfortably accommodate three or more vehicles.

Please note that Villa residents have first priority for parking in front of the Villa, but there is always plenty of parking available for everyone.

Guests are free to use all areas of the Cottage, the yard and gardens, except for locked areas, closets, doors and cabinets. Each guest rental unit has its own patio area, veranda or garden space.

The laundry room (behind garage) is a common area (shared). Only one guest group at a time is allowed in the laundry room.

The plunge pool, pool deck and lounging areas are also common areas (shared).

Other things to note
Winter evenings in the hills can sometimes get a little chilly. A sweater or shawl might come in handy for cool nights on the verandah or in the gardens.

The cottage is on the Villa PassiFlora property, surrounded by forest, fruit trees and tropical plants, with a view through the forest to the Atlantic Ocean. Guests have ready access to the trail leading to Pointe Baptiste.

The Cottage at Villa PassiFlora is exceptionally spacious and airy. Steady but gentle winds flow in off the front porch, where flow is controlled by louvered windows. The design of the cottage echoes the style that has made Villa PassiFlora "one of Dominica's most exquisite accommodation options".

The cottage is fully yours, offering a great base of operations for your Dominica experience. In addition to a large bedroom with a queen bed, there is a very spacious sitting, dining and kitchen area, which includes a very comfortable single sofa bed should a child or third guest be part of your group. A well-worn footpath at the edge of our property provides easy access to Pointe Baptiste beach, one of Dominica's most pleasant. Caapi Cottage is nestled on a lush green plateau above a waterfall, which provides the renewable energy for the property. It has a private kitchenette and bathroom, and a bedroom with a sleeping loft. It can sleep 4 adults comfortably or a family (baby crib is available). The cottage has a stone floor, local hardwood ceiling and shutters with a view of the Caribbean Sea and an extensive botanical garden in the back. There are no neighbours for one kilometer, just trees, streams, a waterfall, duck pond and fish pond. An avocado tree and mature caapi vine shade the cottage from the elements, keeping it cool both day and night. No fan or air conditioning is ever needed.

Additional, beautifully crafted wood Cabin is available, with a Queen bed that sleeps 2 adults. Just send us a request for extra space along with your inquiry.

The cottage has its own large, private stone verandah, with a built-in BBQ. It is next to a 45-foot pool with a diving board, that has a view of the Caribbean sea. There are a variety of fruit trees on the 2 and a half acre property. They include banana, coconut, grapefruit, lime, orange, avocado, guava, carambola (star fruit), pomerac, cocoa, papaya, mango, breadnut, and breadfruit. Watercrest grows year round in the streams. For avid birders there are numerous birdwatching opportunities right on the property, including frequent sitings of the red-necked Parrots, several species of Hummingbirds, Thrashers and Tremblers to name a few.

Birdwatching Opportunities on the property of Caapi Cottage:

Often, in the late afternoon, a small flock of red-necked parrots make their way noisily up into the hills behind the property. Three of the Caribbean hummingbirds can be seen almost every day – the Antillean crested humming bird, and purple throated and green-throated Caribs with their long downward curving bills, both of which show brilliant colours in the sunlight. The Trembler, scaly breasted and white breasted Thrashers are always fun to spot. The Mangrove Cuckoo sometimes nests nearby; its distinctive call and striking banded long tail make this bird a lovely sighting. On nearby trails the Rufous-throated solitaire can be heard with it’s long melancholy notes, and can be difficult to spot.

The orchid trees hugs this cottage providing it with shade for the mountain breezes to flow through. It’s amazing to see this tree Bauhinia also respond like a human,with the leaves opening and closing,like a butterfly, thus providing shade to the birds, and protecting its self from heavy rain showers.

Thé cottage is situated in AURA’S VILLA Gardens. This unique two bedrooms cottage is decorated with art from local artists,. Paintings adorn the walls. Each bedroom has its very own toilet and face basin. There is a hot water shower and a Garden Shower designed to this cottage.
The balcony has a comfortable couch to sit and have your morning coffee and also a day bed to laze on. A folding table can be turned into a morning breakfast table to set up for your jams and jellies to accompany your morning coffee.
