Our flights got changed and our luggage was lost (coming from the USA), but the staff were friendly and helpful throughout the entire mess. - "Should have taken more care in investigating. There was no restaurant and no air conditioning which is fine if you are expecting it. Reception was pretty good although the language was limited. - "I was really impressed by this property and the city it's in, Bergish Gladbach. First, the hotel is owned and managed by the son of the original owner. It is a well cared for establishment, which sits on the west side of Bergish Gladbach on the edge of a forest that surrounds the city. This area of Germany is so impressive for care they take of their public parks. It really is a beautiful location. My room was clean and nice with the latest of comforts. I was specially impressed by the in-room refreshments in the refrigerator. It was stocked with beverages of all kinds - alcoholic and non alcoholic. All were reasonably priced. Their restaurant seemed like a very good place to eat. While I didn't get to have dinner there, the breakfast fare is excellent. I got to meet and talk with the owner manager and his wife, both of whom I thought were very nice. If you stay here, you must take the 25 minute walk into Bergish Gladbach and experience the local restaurants and culture. Though I don't speak German, the restaurant staff was very friendly and accommodating. Should I find myself in Cologne again, I will definitely try to book a room here again. "

- "Only stayed the one night due to travel plans. This was a real gem, obviously refurbished and modernised to the highest standard. The room was spotlessly clean, the staff were all lovely and helpful. The bed was very comfortable and the shower great. The breakfast was great, a really good selection of all sorts to choose from. - "Cute boutique hotel, feels like home" - "It was a really nice stay" - "Windows in room did not open - air con worked but was noisy. Staff did not seem interested" - "The Malerwinkel Hotel is a charming ensemble of traditional timber framed buildings and a newer guest house - all draped around a leafy courtyard. It oozes charm, character, history and the promise of a very personal hotel guest experience. On that the Malerwinkel fully delivers: all staff are very welcoming and go out of their way yo male guests feel welcome and at home very quickly. The room I stayed in at the Kuemstlerhaus was spacious and decorated as the "Juan Miro" room. Amenities and furnishings are very nice and I had a great view towards the courtyard and the historic city centre. Breakfast service is of high quality and served in the maun house with the option to sit outside: the ambience is picturesque and the service is very personal, friendly a d efficient. Parking is free, and since the hotel sits above the city centre, there is an abundance of shopping & dining options. I even found time to see a movie one evening. Connections to Cologne via public transportation (S1) are close by, fast and easy to use. The A4 highway gets you to Cologne in 20 minutes or do - depending on traffic. The hotel was a great choice - with many small "touches" making my stay special & enjoyable (i.e. free coffee, tea, water, and ice cream!). What really stood out were the staff though: they were fantastic! The only room for improvement are the towels for the shower (larger would be nice), and the curtains (not easy to operate). But this is small stuff and overall I was happy!"

- "Very nice hotel perfectly located. Pond and terrrace is beautiful but we could not eat on the terrace…. Unfortunately the restaurant is closed mondays and yuesdays (the two days we were there) " - "This hotel was a very nice surprise given that it is off the beaten path.
