Initially, it was intended to house livestock, camels and horses, and its construction consisted of various sticks with a thatched roof and branches, and then became a place of worship for the African Mahoma.

That structure and decoration were imimited in a more humble house, staying as a general rule in the
Construction. A generally square patio surrounded by arcades on which the balcony is held
with the balustrade. In the middle, a fountain, a small space for a fruit tree that used to be an orange tree or a lemon tree. Tiles with geometric and floral motifs are another very recognizable element in these patios.

These courtyards bring an important brightness to the houses and are a space in which to carry out several traditional chores and a place for rest, recreation and gathering. In addition to its architecture, one of the most valuable things in these courtyards is the diversity of plants in them.
