The smell of Japanese cypress wafts through the air the moment you enter the baths, stimulating a sense of elation that you have come to a hot spring bath. The baths are clean and very comfortable. Since the wind blows through the open-air baths, the steam that rises from the bathing surface is carried away by the wind, creating a fantastic atmosphere. While I was in the open-air bath, snow began to flutter and fall. I usually spend only a short time in the bathtub, but the open-air bath was so pleasant that I went out of my way to cool myself down and repeat the process of getting into the bathtub again and again. A particularly alarming incident occurred on April 1st at 2:00 PM when a staff member attempted to enter our room without knocking. Thankfully, we had locked the security latch, but it raises serious concerns about privacy. The hotel claims that rooms are not cleaned for stays of less than three days, so this behavior is unacceptable. There was no apology afterward. Furthermore, the hotel doesn't have a proper front desk; the entrance is shared with a coffee shop, and the staff's poor English made communication frustrating. Given these experiences, we will not be returning. The lack of customer service and respect for privacy was disappointing, and I question the safety of our belongings."

- "The staff are very nice! But the room was too small for five people. " - "The location itself is great. The property is charming, and the owners are nice, at least when speaking to them in person. They even provided handmade breakfast on our first night. Additionally, the bathroom is AMAZING. However, that's where the good things stop. We were unfamiliar with the area and thought initially that the distance listed on the site wouldn't be a problem. The location is nice and quiet, sure. You're near lots of hot springs. But as for any actual activities? Not even close. My husband came in on a Navy ship and I flew out to meet him. The Navy has strict requirements on distance when in a foreign port. Given the amount of time it would take to get back to the ship, there was initially a concern as to whether this location was within his limits. Relaying this to the owners and asking for an exception to the cancellation policy was met with no understanding. The situation was beyond our control, yet their attitude was: "You reserved the room for X nights, we'll be keeping 100% of the fee whether you cancel or not." This was after telling them he could face serious trouble staying here. They just didn't care. That situation was cleared up, but it only took one day to realize the cost of transport was too much. To reach any spot we wanted to visit in Nagasaki took approx. 6000¥ per person, each way. We ended up changing hotels due to this, and they refused to refund even the later nights of the stay. Even hotels.com didn't assist. Very disappointing."
