This 4200 sqft. 5 bed 4 bath hideaway on 1.3 acres is your own PRIVATE RESORT LIKE ESCAPE!!! Not to be confused with an actual resort, where you can be loud and out of control. We are a large home located in a residential neighborhood, where we respect our neighbors and their families by being noise sensitive and considerate. There are several areas to hike. In Alpine there is Wright's Field an easy hike. A more difficult hike is to the top of Viejas Mountain. Allow 3.5 to 4 hours for Viejas.

La Casita is totally private for our guests. A romantic, secluded hide-a-way including two fireplaces and private Jacuzzi ($30 daily use fee). Featuring Old Mexico décor surrounded by majestic trees and sweeping panoramic mountain views.

Enjoy your own private golf course. Great for practicing chipping shots. In the shed there is a wedge, a nine iron, tees and golf balls or bring your own clubs. Golf is Free for your enjoyment.

If you are bringing your work we have Free Wifi and several cozy and comfortable work areas. There is a large well lit desk inside La Casita and tables and chairs on both decks. Take your work to the other side of the preserve, next to the golf course, and sit under a large shade tree or in a recliner in the shed.

Take a walk down the paths and over the bridge to the golf course. Listen to the birds and watch the wildlife.

Our wisteria blooms during the month of April and blankets the trees with lavender flowers while the sweet fragrance of the wisteria permeates the air.
During the month of November and December the California Holly/Christmas Berries (Toyon) are ablaze with little red berries. Fifteen old grove toyons grow along Wild Holly Creek. Some are over 100 years old.

La Casita, is a 650 sq. ft. private retreat including upper and lower decks. Fireplace has remote control and can be viewed from living room and from the bedroom. The outside deck is off the living room and includes a chase lounge, two patio chairs and a table for two for out-side dining. Great place to enjoy your morning coffee while you watch and listen to the birds. You will feel like you are sitting in a tree house.

There is also an upstairs deck, we call the “Crow’s Nest” which includes a BBQ with two chairs, a chaise lounge and two tables. This is your best view where you can see the golf course surrounded by a forest of trees with cape honeysuckle peeking out through the branches.

At night you can sit outside and view a star studded sky. If you play the guitar you will find one in the living room, tuned and ready to play.

You have a full kitchen with all the amenities; large oven, microwave, fridge, trash compactor, coffee maker and a sink with garbage disposal. Plates, pots, utensils, coffee and tea are provided as well as some condiments. Also includes AC/Heat plus a washer and dryer. Laundry soap and fabric softener are available for your use.

To make your sleep more restful you will enjoy a Select Comfort queen bed with a remote control to customize your mattress preference. Extra pillows are in the closet along with extra blankets. There is also an super-large shower with a private toilette area.

There are three ceiling fans. One in the living room, the bedroom and near the kitchen. Living room has two Lazy Boy recliners, Cable TV with access to all types of music.

Spend your days hiking on the area's plethora of trailheads, saying hello to the residents at the San Diego Animal Sanctuary, and practicing your luck at Viejas Casino & Resort. The vibrant city of San Diego is less than 30 miles from your stay, ensuring that city life is never far from reach.

Surrounded by mature landscaping, the curb appeal of this Alpine home is abundant. Walk inside and discover high ceilings, comfortable furnishings, and modern amenities. The chef of your group will adore the large kitchen's granite countertops and stainless steel appliances. Whereas everyone will enjoy gathering for movies on the oversized sofa in the living room.

Well-decorated and inviting, the bedrooms are equally pleasant. The kids will adore the home's toys. Additional interior perks include a jetted tub, a wood-burning fireplace, central air-conditioning and heat, and internet access.

As the sun begins to set over the mountains, head outside and fire up the provided gas grill for a sweet summer barbecue.

All guests shall abide by Vacasa's good neighbor policy and shall not engage in illegal activity. No parties allowed. Quiet hours are from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM.

Parking notes: There is free parking available for 12 vehicles.

Damage waiver: The total cost of your reservation for this Property includes a nightly damage waiver fee, plus tax if applicable (the “Damage Waiver”). (A discount may be applied for stays of 28 nights or longer, if permitted.) The Damage Waiver covers you for up to $3,000 of accidental damage to the Property or its contents (such as furniture, fixtures, and appliances) as long as you report the incident to the host prior to checking out. The Damage Waiver fee eliminates the need for a traditional security deposit.

The space
Welcome to our 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom, 2 story home. It has been completely remodeled and has the perfect country vibe! This is a place to relax and feel at home. We are just a few miles from downtown Alpine where you will find plenty of cute little shops, coffee houses, and local restaurants.

We'd love to host your family, as well as small events and gatherings.

Our micro-farm enjoys a 180 degree view of the Cleveland National Forest. It boasts beautiful mountainside and high desert landscape. It’s quiet and peaceful and provides our guests the opportunity to get away from the bustle of the city, enjoy the countryside but also be close enough to all that San Diego has to offer!

We also recently added a few new residents to our little micro-farm! Our Nigerian dwarf goats, Huckle-Barry (or just Barry!), Princess and Chewy. They are super friendly and love visiting with our guests.

***Please review the descriptions before booking. We are probably not the best choice for you if: you have mobility issues. We have very narrow stairs to get to the master bedroom/loft. We can sleep 6. But please review the available beds to make sure your party will be comfortable. ***

The Space:

We have 2 Bedrooms and 2 full Bathrooms with plenty of space to sleep 6 plus 1 infant.

The Master bedroom loft has a comfy Queen size bed, walk-in closet, and a Smart TV. Also in the master loft area is a day bed for extra sleeping. A desk is in the loft as well. (The master is upstairs and is probably not suitable for someone older and/or with balance issues.)

The downstairs bedroom is a bunkroom with a twin bunk bed, a trundle and a nursery area with a crib and a rocking chair.

We have an open living room with the perfect napping sofa and a Smart TV where you can enjoy Hula, Netflix, Disney plus, and most streaming services.

The open kitchen features all updated appliances including a microwave, coffee pot, tea kettle, stove and oven, refrigerator, and baking supplies.

We do not have a dishwasher, but a dryer rack and dish soap are provided.

Dedicated laundry room equipped with a full-size washer & dryer, laundry supplies, iron and ironing board.

Our guest house has a fully fenced yard and private driveway that can fit at least 2 cars.

We also have a propane fire-pit and seating area to enjoy the stars away from the city lights. Enjoy your meals outdoors at dining table after grilling your meal.


We have a large open space available in front of the property that looks out into the Cleveland National Forest and would be the perfect backdrop for your event.

Our guest house is located in the back of our personal property & kept private by fencing. Our property is fully fenced & guests have access in & out by using a keypad. We have laundry facilities, a queen size bed in the master bedroom, a sofa sleeper in the living room/kitchen area and a private patio with bbq. We occupy the main home on the property. We have 2 dogs on the property so other animals are not recommended at this location. Children trampoline not included with Airbnb.

Guests have a private outside patio with fire place and bbq. A private parking space is provided along with laundry facilities. Board games, card games, giant Jenga and giant Connect Four are provided in the Airbnb for guests to enjoy!

You will be staying in a completely private apartment on our main home's lower level. When you walk in, you will be greeted with an open concept living space: a small , fully equipped kitchen, a dining nook with bench seating, and an inviting living room with a leather reclining couch and smart TV. Through a door to the right, you will enter the bedroom space, which has ample closet storage, and a comfortable queen size bed with a Tempurpedic mattress.

This home was designed by the famous artist James Hubbell. It is unique and marvelous. This home and the artist are featured in two books stocked in the living room.

The full charm of "The Shire" is absorbed over days and nights of individual's and couple's immersion, relaxation and awakening.

The space
There is no place on Earth quite like it. It is a great home in which to be engulfed in its organic form and ensemble of wood, brick, stained glass, ceramic tile, bronze and iron. There are no rectangles, only curves, arches, vaults and alcoves. Sit and read, listen to music, love your spouse, lover or self and behold art.

It has one queen-size bed up the steep stairs with railings to the loft bedroom, so it's only for 1-2 physically-fit adults with good balance and mobility. It features a comfortable, new Casper mattress. Enjoy looking out at the stars through the huge window doors, possibly open in fair weather.

It's not NY, LA, or any bustling downtown (though SD is just 30-40 min. away.) You'll also see and hear birds, lizards, squirrels and (in the winter and spring) the cascading flow of seasonal Alpine Creek on site.

In full disclosure, there is some background traffic noise outdoors, from the nearby Interstate 8 highway, though it is modest to most when indoors. Any music played at low volume will drown it out, and to date it has never interfered with a guest's sleep (even the nightly frogs are sometimes louder in winter, in a naturally-comforting manner.) Still, if one wants quiet when outdoors, this location may not be the best for them. Also, because of it's natural country country setting, on a 2/3 acre lot, there are some creatures about (hawks, owls, squirrels, field mice, etc.) Mice are reduced by pest control, but may possibly sneak inside. I keep the home very clean, but can't guarantee a mouse might enter an open window or door at night. (It has only happened 2% of the time.)

The entire 800 SF "art" house, including use of all appliances, dishware, utensils, cleaning supplies, furnishings, books, magazines and CD's. Upon request, a guest artist may access a separate studio on site.

I will only approve guests with whom I first communicate and trust to protect this home. I will be HAPPY to assist all approved guests with their comfortable stay at my home, in the Alpine community, indeed all of San Diego County, with helpful information and personal suggestions.

I will be present for the guest's arrival with keys and orientation. I love to travel and appreciate the arts, and enjoy other people who do as well! If you'd like, and time permitting, I'll show you to nearby restaurants, a great pub, a natural hiking park and/or discuss San Diego and environs, and the house itself. I want you to cherish and fondly remember your visit.

The guest will have full use of the kitchen, including stove, microwave, coffee makers, refrigerator and dishwasher. Utensils, plates, bowls, glasses, pots and pans, etc., may be used, all to be cleaned after use. The cable television, two Bluetooth speakers, and fireplace are also for guests use. The host's books, magazines and CD's may be enjoyed on site. A basic studio building may also be requested for use by artists.

Other things to note
I will be available by email, text and cell phone to answer any guests' questions, within hours if not within minutes.

The area can be chilly to cold in the winter but the beautiful fireplace, heaters, comforter, quilt and blankets make the home comfy inside. Sweaters and jackets are recommended November-March. Summer days and sometimes parts or autumn may be hot, though the inside is cooled downstairs, the upstairs may take longer to cool in the evening. Opening the large loft windows at night will cool it down.

If you have an electric car, you may charge it overnight for free parked by the studio. It is a grounded 120V, so not as fast as 240, and must use your own portable cord. For ex., it may take 12-13 hours to charge 40 miles after driving from San Diego, but the downhill return will use less energy than getting to Alpine, so energy to spare if full when leaving.

The space
While staying in La Casita visit near by San Diego Animal Sanctuary and Farm and Lions, Tigers and Bears. Both are Rescue Havens for abused or orphaned animals.

La Casita is a romantic, secluded hide-a-way with 2 fireplaces & private Jacuzzi ($30 daily use fee). Featuring Old Mexico décor surrounded by majestic trees and sweeping panoramic mountain views. Perfect for a Staycation, Honeymoon, stay for a month or longer. We welcome well behaved dogs. ($30 a day per dog, max. 3 dogs). Fee paid directly to host.

In our wildlife habitat you can take a walk down the paths and over the bridges. Relax in the hammock, next to the golf course. Listen to the birds and watch the wildlife.

If you like to play golf there are two clubs in the shed with tees and golf balls. Great place to practice your chipping shots. Golf is Free.

Our wisteria blooms during the month of April and blankets the trees with lavender flowers while the sweet fragrance of the wisteria permeates the air.
During the month of November and December the California Holly/Christmas Berries (Toyon) are ablaze with little red berries. Fifteen old grove toyons grow along Wild Holly Creek. Some are over 100 years old.

La Casita, is a 650 sq. ft. private retreat and includes upper and lower decks. Fireplace has remote control and can be viewed from living room and from the bedroom. The outside deck is off the living room and includes a chase lounge, two patio chairs and a table for two for out-side dining. Great place to enjoy your morning coffee while you watch and listen to the birds. You will feel like you are sitting in a tree house.

There is also an upstairs deck, we call the “Crow’s Nest” which includes a BBQ with two chairs, a chaise lounge and two tables. This is your best view where you can see the golf course surrounded by a forest of trees with cape honeysuckle peeking out through the branches.

At night you can sit outside and view a star studded sky. If you play the guitar you will find one in the living room, tuned and ready to play.

You have a full kitchen with all the amenities; large oven, microwave, fridge, trash compactor, coffee maker and a sink with garbage disposal. Plates, pots, utensils, coffee and tea are provided as well as some condiments. Also includes AC/Heat plus a washer and dryer. Laundry soap and fabric softener are available for your use.

To make your sleep more restful you will enjoy a Select Comfort queen bed with a remote control to customize your mattress preference. There are extra pillows and blankets in the closet, Enjoy our extra-large shower with a private toilette area.

There are three ceiling fans. One in the living room, the kitchen area and the bedroom. Living room has two Lazy Boy recliners, Cable TV with access to all types of music.

We welcome well behaved, friendly dogs. ($30 a day per dog, max. 3 dogs). Your dog can run free in our three acre totally fenced in habitat.

When you stay in La Casita it is more than just a place to stay. It is an unforgettable experience!

You have a private parking space, in the cul-de-sac, directly in front of our private entrance gate. Call us to let us know when you plan to arrive so we can escort you onto the property.

La Casita is located up one flight of stairs. Another flight of stairs takes you to the "Crow's Nest," where there is a Bar-B-Que and where you can view the sunset.

In 1999 Alpine was designated the Nation’s First Certified Community Wildlife Habitat and our habitat is the first one in Alpine to be certified. We are very proud of this designation. Alpine now has more than 270 certified wildlife habitat gardens.

Feel free to stroll up and down the tree covered paths, walk along the river walk and go barefoot on the grass. Relax in the hammock or the swing bench that over-looks the golf course and listen to the birds. Our three acre preserve is totally fenced in. If you are bringing your fur baby this will be a real treat because we have a no leash policy. There is a $30 per day fee, per dog. Max 3 dogs. Paid directly to host.

We also have a very private and secluded Jacuzzi. It is located down 44 lighted steps and available till midnight. Taking a night time Jacuzzi nestled among the trees and under the stars is very romantic. Bathing suits are optional. There is a $30 daily use fee. Please let us know if you plan to use the Jacuzzi so we can fire it up.

Other things to note
There is a weight limit of 250 lbs. for each guest. This is for safety concerns. Some of the chairs are hand crafted and there are steep and uneven steps throughout the preserve.

Please let us know if you will want to use the Jacuzzi before you come so we can fire it up and have it ready when you arrive. There is a $30 daily use fee for the Jacuzzi which can be paid with cash, which I prefer, or put it on Airbnb.

La Casita is located over one of our garages. We respect your privacy and try not to open the garage while you are in residence. However, there will be times when we must get into that garage. At those times you will hear the garage door go up and down.

🎉 Event & Gathering Policy
We welcome curated celebrations that align with the upscale and peaceful nature of the property. All events must be pre-approved in writing at the time of booking and are subject to the following fees:

Small Gatherings 9–15 people
$250 Daytime only, no amplified outdoor music

Mid-Sized Events 16–30 people
$500 May require added staff, cleaning, or parking plan

Large Events (Weddings, Quinceañeras) 31–50 people
$1,250+ Event insurance + $1,000 refundable deposit required

Saltwater Pool: Features an automatic cover for added safety. Guests are required to sign a pool waiver prior to usage to ensure understanding of guidelines and safety measures.

Fenced Perimeter: The property is enclosed by a fence for privacy and security, though the front entrance is open.
