You will have access to the entire studio and the private outdoor space, as well as a private entrance to the studio. The Coco Rose is located behind the owner’s residence at the end of the driveway. The yard space is for your private use and is not shared with the owner. The driveway and owner yard is also private and is not included with the rental.

The Neighborhood:
You will find it hard to leave the Coco Rose Retreat, but the eclectic shops, eateries, and nightlife of historic Sellwood will be calling your name. 1-3 blocks in either direction will lead you to food, drink and shopping. The river and local parks are also within walking distance.

The Sellwood District is a popular Southeast Portland neighborhood. Historic Sellwood-Moreland boasts an array of shops, vintage vendors and restaurants, as well as a rambling wildlife refuge — all just minutes from downtown. Sellwood is a popular destination neighborhood located in the City of Portland, situated on the east bank of the Willamette River near the southern tip of Ross Island. The house is located in the heart of everything and one could easily get by without a car and find tons to do within walking distance.

The neighborhood offers specialty retail, antiques, grocery and hardware stores, banks, dry cleaners as well as tons of restaurants and a seasonal farmers market are concentrated in two historic commercial districts.
Approximately two miles in length and a mile wide, the teardrop-shaped area is rich in natural and recreational amenities. This includes four public parks,Westmoreland, Sellwood, Sellwood Riverfront and Johnson Creek, hiking paths at the Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge, a public golf course, the Springwater Corridor bicycle/pedestrian- only thoroughfare and the city’s second oldest Parks & Recreation center.

Antique Lovers, take note. Sellwood is known for it’s antiquing! The peaceful, walkable retail stretches of the historic Sellwood-Moreland district are a throwback to the pre-Internet era of shopping, and pack enough surprises to turn anyone into a collector. A magnet for antique and collectible hunters, the neighborhood is home to vintage vendors who stock both mid-century treasures and flea-market finds.

Getting Around:
To have an authentic Portland experience, there is no need to leave the neighborhood. Shopping, dining and entertainment are abundant. This is a very urban area convenient for walking, biking or using public transportation. Portland also has a wonderful Bike Share BIKETOWN located all over Portland Metro. There is FREE street parking on the side of the main house right by the gate to the studio. It would be easy to get by without a car as the neighborhood is walk-able and bike-able. Restaurants and all amenities within 3 blocks. Public transportation is safe and easy to use. Bicycles are easy to rent through the Bike town program or local bicycle shops.

Other Things to Note:
Portland City Code requires that we keep a log with the Name, Address and Vehicle Information for ALL guests. This will be required before check in. If you are renting a vehicle, we will need the License Plate number or we will need to note alternate transportation (ie; air, train, bike) Please provide this information with your confirmed booking.

- Housekeeping is required every 15 days and provided at an additional cost of $50 per cleaning. Basic cleaning including disinfecting kitchen and bathroom, change linens and clean floors. If you would like a mid stay cleaning on shorter stays this is an option as well.

Amazing standalone unit in the Sellwood neighborhood of SE Portland. Every amenity you can imagine, along with period details and decor. Gas fireplace, gas range, AC, custom cabinets and more. Nearby coffee, restaurants, shops and parks.

The space was designed as if we were going to live there. Every detail is thought through. Spacious, open layout in living area with fireplace, sofa, dining table, television, etc. Living area is open to kitchen which includes stainless appliances, gas range, microwave, refrigerator with ice/water through the door and more. Multiple storage spaces, including a double closet in the large bedroom. Washer and dryer for your convenience.

Guests have full access to a private/separate apartment adjoining our home. It has a separate entry and is completely independent of our home. It is approximately 680 square feet and contains one bedroom, one bathroom, and an open living area with living room, full kitchen and dining area.

Guests will be welcomed at arrival if possible. Otherwise we will make arrangements for access to the apartment. We love to interact at other times if desired, but strive to provide a private experience that isn't overwhelmed by us. Please consider our apartment your second home.

Additionally, Sellwood is an amazing walking neighborhood with extremely high Walk Scores. This apartment is located a block from coffee shops and restaurants and two blocks from Sellwood Park. 'At the last minute I decided to forgo staying at a hotel and my daughter found this lovely back of house apartment in the beautiful Sellwood neighborhood. It was perfect. Brand new accommodations in a quiet, tree-lined neighborhood where you could walk down the block and enjoy friendly crowd-filled coffee houses, antique stores, restaurants or discover that special organic-find at the local market. The apartment itself was doll-like, very clean (which I am fastidious about!) and could easily have been a model for a pottery barn ad. Perfect in every way. It was filled with everything you would need from coffee pots to silver ware should you chose to eat in. Lots of windows-making my morning coffee (provided by Traci of course) I could open the kitchen window and treat myself to fresh air to start my day. One unique and surprise feature was the heater nestled in the bathroom-a nicety you don't see very often and the bedroom was perfect-large, spacious closets and very comfy. The living room had a fireplace that was both warm and completed the feel of the apartment even if you did have to turn it on with a clicker. I highly recommend staying at this perfect rental and do so for a longer stay-I had only two nights and could have easily stayed for a week! Traci thought of everything and even provided us with a list of places to go and eat in her cardboard binder-she was a splendid host. I give it five stars!'

'My wife and I much enjoyed our stay in this apartment, indeed it is probably the best appointed and most elegantly designed apartment in which we have spent time (a week plus) in many years of travel. It has the advantage of being one of the few 'guesthouses' in Sellwood, so very well located for visitors such as ourselves coming to spend time with family living in that delightful area of Portland. Our 2 bdrm space is a ground floor apartment full of natural light. No stairs required. The main Victorian house was built in 1892, the lower apartment in 2016, maximizing charm with modern flow and amenities. Walk score of 94 - walker's paradise! Many coffee shops, tea shops, juice shop, restaurants galore (ethnic cuisines, BBQ, Pubs, sushi, pizza, burgers, etc), grocery market, bus and light rail lines, wildlife refuge and 3 city parks, including Westmoreland Nature Play park. So much to LOVE about Sellwood!

This is an ~800 sq ft accessory dwelling unit (ADU) built in 2016 and it comes with a good story. We lifted the original house (built in 1892) in the air to build the ADU and scooted the house over 5 ft so that the ADU would have its own patio with outdoor seating. It was a quite a spectacle! The result is a 2 bedroom apartment with a spacious living space and full size kitchen.

Bathroom: There are 2 half baths with a total of 1 toilet. Our bathroom combo includes two separate rooms: (1) one half bath with a toilet and mini vanity and (2) another half bath with a shower with full vanity sink. Even though there is only one toilet, it is so helpful that it is in a separate room from the shower and vanity! You know who I'm talking about. We love this feature!

Our place has 2 comfortable queen beds, plus 2 tri-fold mats. We provide all linens. The mats are slightly smaller than a twin and generally intended for children, but some adults tolerate them.

The kitchen is fully functional and fully equipped, including gas stove, microwave and dishwasher. (But beware, there are many good restaurants in this town to tempt you to dine out.)

Access: Follow the garden path to the left of our front stairs. It will lead to your patio and entrance. No stairs during this stay! We have a keyless lock, for which I will send you a private code for your stay - no keys to manage during your visit!

We LOVE living in Sellwood!

The apartment is a ground level daylight basement, or as they say in Chicago: a garden apartment. We live in the upper house. We are a family of 4 with a dog. We invested heavily in soundproofing but it is an older home and we did not achieve complete sound isolation. You will hear the dog romping occasionally and humans moving through the living space, you will NOT hear conversations or even voices. We've been hosting this apartment since we built it in 2016 and the pattern is that most people love our place. Don't take my word, read our reviews. Many have even described it as quiet, but at least one person was really annoyed by the sounds of our life. I strive to provide accurate information so that if you are someone who is seeking silence or is sound sensitive, you can recognize the mismatch in advance. You deserve to be delighted with your stay in Portland!!!

A little about the Sellwood neighborhood in Portland:
Sellwood has a friendly village feel. It continues to evolve with new shops, restaurants, services and food carts moving in regularly. We find ourselves leaving the neighborhood less and less because most of our needs can be met right in our own neighborhood. Need coffee? There are 7 local coffee shops within walking distance. Tea, instead? Two blocks away, there are 2 tea shops and one is in a retired red caboose! Hungry? Within easy walking distance, there are 2 cart pods with various cuisines represented, and MANY restaurants along SE 13th. Eating in? Our New Seasons Market is 4 blocks away. They have everything for cooking a full meal and also have hot nourishing prepared foods. And Grand Central Bakery has some of the best sandwiches around. Shopping? Sellwood used to be famous for its antique shops. It still has some, but now there are many other shops, including toys, clothing, gift, spice and craft supplies. There's even an inviting shop dedicated to board games (Cloud Cap Games) with lots of games available to play in their on site game room.

We have a nearby laundromat for bulk laundry, if you have that need.

My husband took the upstairs bathroom and I set myself up in the downstairs bathroom. One of my favorite things about the cottage was the heated bathroom floors. Such a treat! We visited in early November and had some cold and rainy days so we were not outdoors as much as we would have liked but the cottage is in a really great location for walking to restaurants and shops. We rented a car for this trip and had no trouble parking on the street right in front of the house. The apartment is totally private, but is the lower level of our family home and thus there may be some ambient noise (talking, walking, doors opening) that is audible during your stay. You may see our school-aged child or one of us coming and going from the house. Feel free to say "hello!"

Location:

Our townhome is in the Brooklyn neighborhood, with neighborhood shops and eateries. Food carts are nearby, as well as the Aladdin Theater, a Portland landmark, and the Brooklyn park with kids play structures. A short drive or bus ride will take you to the Sellwood/Westmoreland, or Clinton/Division neighborhoods with their own great eateries and shopping.

It's only a short 10-12 minute drive to the Oregon Convention Center, or downtown Portland, Portland State University, or OHSU (Oregon Health and Science University), or OMSI (Oregon Museum of Science and Industry). Another fewminutes to the Oregon Zoo.

Transportation:

- While a car is optional, there is plenty of free parking in our neighborhood

- For travel Downtown you can drive, or it is easy to take public transit and avoid parking hassles.

-There is a bus stop about 2 1/2 blocks away on Milwaukie Avenue and the MAX train station is about a 5-7 minute walk.

We will probably not be in town when you rent the entire house, but will be available via phone and email while you are there. Someone lives parttime in a basement apartment, so you may hear the garage door open and close.

Please note that this is a quiet neighborhood, and parties or events are not allowed. Quiet time is 9 pm to 8 am.

We're just around the corner from Clinton Park, which is an amazing outdoor space to take the kids or the pets!

We are only an 11-minute walk from the Hinterland Bar & Food Carts, an 8-minute walk to Benbear's Beers and all the food carts at The Lot on Division, a 3-minute car ride to the famous Bagdad Theatre and Pub and all the amazing restaurants, bars, arcades, and public spaces that the Hawthorn and Division streets have to offer! If you're feeling adventurous, a short walk or drive (it's 1 mile away) brings you to the base of Mt. Tabor; the 196-acre city park that is perfect for a hike, a picnic, or a bike ride.The 360-degree view of Portland from the top is incredible!

Our home offers enough space for everyone to feel at home, while also showcasing her 95-year-old charm. During your stay, you'll notice the original wood floors, the glass door knobs, built-in-place cabinetry with the original leaded glass in the dining room, and the coved ceilings. We think she's pretty great!

Welcoming you as you come inside, you'll see the comfortable seating in the living room. Please make yourself comfortable! Our smart TV allows you to access all your own streaming services easily. The dining room offers seating for 6 and is a great place to play one of the many games or puzzles we offer, or to enjoy a homemade meal prepared in our well-appointed kitchen. Our large picture windows offer views of mature trees right across the street, and they're beautiful in any season! You'll find two bedrooms with super comfortable beds and luxury linens that will offer a restful nights' sleep. They both offer king sized beds. **Please note: Access to the sitting room with space for an additional guest is obtained by walking through one of the other bedrooms, but it does have doors that close it off. This set up makes for a perfect "family suite."

Our backyard is fully enclosed and is a great space to play with the kids. While enjoying the private back yard space, you'll be able to see a variety of local plants and succulents lovingly planted around the perimeter of the yard. When you're outside, you'll undoubtedly be visited by the two juvenile crows that were born in the pine trees behind the house last year. Their names are Cheryl and Russell (get it? they're crows...) and they love peanuts. You'll find some in the kitchen cabinet above the coffee pot. You can throw them out or lay a few on the railing outside the kitchen door and watch them collect their treasures through the kitchen window. It's really neat!

The attic and basement are our personal spaces and therefore, access is not permitted. Access to the garage is reserved for the owners, as well. Thank you for your understanding!

The space

Hi! Welcome to Clinton Street, our colorful little space tucked away on one of Portland’s favorite streets. We’re located within walking distance of so many Portland landmarks, including SE Division Street (home to some of the city’s best restaurants and bakeries) and SE Hawthorne Street (filled with vintage shops, coffee shops, and Powell’s Books East). We’re on a side street that is considered a Greenway, meaning that the only cars allowed to use the street belong to the people who live here. Otherwise Clinton is considered a bike street, so it’s super safe! We can’t wait to share our neighborhood with you!

We are striving to be a family friendly rental - we ourselves have a young child, and know how stressful it can be to travel with children. We want to do whatever we can to make it easier, whether that’s providing you with a pack-and-play or even just a pack of wipes. Know that we love kids, and have lots of fun activities and amenities designed just for their entertainment, and to give their parents a break from the constant need to entertain. If there’s anything you need, please don’t hesitate to let us know.

You’ll enter your space through a private entrance with keyless entry. The space is a private 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom suite complete with a Living Area with a sleeper sofa (full-size that can sleep 1-2 smaller people), TV, Desk. convenient kitchenette includes a mini-fridge, coffee station (including brewed coffee machine, Nespresso machine, and a complimentary bag of local coffee), electric kettle and local tea, and dish ware/silverware.

The bedroom is furnished with a plush queen bed, lux linens, a large closet and a small desk, just in case you had to bring your work with you.

The second-story apartment was constructed in 2018 to match our 1937 house. It has high vaulted ceilings and an open concept. The owners occasionally use the back entrance to the garden and garage. The cats are sometimes allowed access to the back yard through this door.

The guest quarters are on the third level and we live in the main, upstairs home. We have added extra thick sheet rock to the walls and ceilings, noise reduction insulation and special padding under the floors and ceiling. However, there can be occasional household noises as is typical in any home. The ceilings are almost 8' tall. Please take note if you are especially tall.

For stays of more than 2 weeks the cleaning fee is $80. Extra guests over the age of 5 are $20/night

Recommendations on Things to do and food
West Moreland has a nice farmers market wed afternoons. Downtown portland is sat ( it’s a good one) lake Oswego is very nice on Saturday ( try the cheesecake vendor- sooo good. and Woodstock is sunday. Reed college is beautiful to walk around. Check out the EastMoreland rhododendron garden on Woodstock ave. Gorgeous!

For Italian try Montelupo on SE 28th. Outside dining, and reasonable. Everything mentioned is very Covid Safe.

The space
I am an interior designer and loved designing this space. It has a lofty European look with vaulted ceilings, large pendant LED lighting and lots of windows for an abundance of natural light.
There is a queen size bed in an alcove and a convertible sofa that folds down to sleep an additional person.
There is a kitchen space with a microwave, single serve coffee brewer w/K-cups, electric kettle, Breville toaster oven, small refrigerator and a hot plate if you wish to cook. There is a sink with garbage disposal
There are two folding chairs hanging on the back of the cabinet in the hallway.

Guest access
You will have access to the entire cottage with a small deck.
Parking for one car is available in front of the main house.
The cottage is accessible via the path to the left of the main house. There is an electronic keypad on the cottage door. Code will be given upon confirmation of your reservation.

Want to have a special local wine or beer (or both!) here upon arrival? Just let us know and we'll make sure that it's here. Want a breakfast basket or charcuterie? Well maintained, clean, and airy loft space feels like a respite from the world around you.

The space
Welcome to our guest loft! It is separate from the main house, and has its own private entrance, a queen bed, and private bathroom with great water pressure. Extra blankets, pillows, and towels are included for your use. Windows are covered with top down/bottom up darkening roman shades. Dedicated AC and Heating Wall unit to suit your temperature needs. All the windows have screens and loft door has a screen door that locks from the inside. There's also wifi and a TV with ability to stream.

The nook area has a table and 2 chairs along with a single serve Keurig, electric kettle, and mini fridge. Pods and sweetners will be provided during your stay.

The bathroom is roomy with generous counter space, sink, shower, and toilet (remodeled in January 2025) with amenities; plush towels, shampoo/conditioner, body wash and lotion, and other hotel like touches. Ironing board and iron in the closet.

We have 2 corgis that are friendly and vocal. You will hear them before you see them. Mr. Bean is the black one, and Miss Butter is our sable.

Guest access
Our loft is ideal for Reed College visitors and people with family and friends in the neighborhood. Finally, it is for those who want to be close to what the city has to offer but enjoys the quiet of a family friendly neighborhood.

Reed, Woodstock and Sellwood are all walking distance- About 4 blocks and 8 minute walk (according to GPS) to Reed College, +10 minute walk to Woodstock Blvd., and +20 minute walk to Sellwood. Both of these neighborhoods offer an array of shops, restaurants, food carts, and bars. Also, from here, the rest of Portland metro is easily accessible. The southeast area of Portland including Division Street, Hawthorne, Mount Tabor, are all within a 10 minute drive. Public transportation is easy using the Trimet Max light rail, the Bybee station is a 15 minute walk from the house. Get downtown on the Orange line in less than 20 minutes. Also, you can take the Max from the airport to our neighborhood.

If you decide to use an App based car service, they swarm this neighborhood, making it very easy to get a ride.

Our cool and cozy little abode has everything you need for your getaway. Sleeps two to four comfortably has a great little kitchen ( no dishwasher ) and a full bath. Nestled in and off the street, just blocks from Johnson Creek and The Spring Water Trail.

The space
This is a beautifully designed studio apartment nestled in one of Portland's most charming neighborhoods. The studio has a fully stocked kitchen ( no dishwasher) .There is a little sitting area where you can enjoy your meals. A living area with plenty of books and also a flat screen TV / ROKU/ NETFLIX . A queen size bed with a memory foam mattress, soft linens, a warm down comforter and various pillows to meet any sleeping need. The couch is a pullout queen sleeper. It's very comfortable. There is a wood burning stove and wood is provided upon request. It has a separate bedroom with a very comfortable single bed. If you are traveling with two small children I can provide another small mattress. There is a full bathroom. You will be able to enjoy the private garden almost year round. In the spring and summer you can listen to the birds and have your coffee in the morning. There is a little fireplace outside. This can be removed if you feel it is a hazard for your kiddo.
The space is roughly 450 square feet with tall ceilings which makes if feel larger. I live on premise but The Casita is very private. The Casita is heated by an electric mini-split heater which warms the space in moments. There is also AC for the hot summer days. There is laundry in the main house and we can make arrangements to provide that for you. There is PLENTY of storage if you are staying for a longer period of time.

There is ample street parking. The Casita is a block from the bus and 1 mile from Portland's Light Rail System. It is a mile from Reed College and access to many of the walking paths that connect Portland. It is a mile walk to Woodstock Blvd which has plenty of shops and restaurants and 1.5 miles into Sellwood / West Moreland.

The entire guesthouse is yours, enjoy! Access to the unit is via a shared driveway with our neighbors. You are welcome to pull straight in and use the left side of the driveway, directly in front of the house. There is also ample street parking available.

New Seasons and Safeway as well as the Woodstock Farmer's Market (June - Oct) are within walking distance. Trader Joe's is right around the corner and sometimes there are even fresh baked goods that magically appear at your door. (It depends on how early we wake up on Sunday morning!) Your apartment is fully contained and private. Lock box for keys. If you have a car, please park right in front of our house, on our side of the street and not in front of the neighbors' houses. We have ample parking for you! With no bathtub and a smaller kitchen sink, this is not an ideal place for children under 3.

Other things to note
We love to cook, so we know what cooks want in a kitchen. The EMGH kitchen has a gas burner stove, a Cuisnart, rice cooker, a juicer, a popcorn maker, table top water filter (Portland water is terrific all by itself), basic spices, oil & butter, coffee & decaf, a good range of teas, frozen uncooked croissants (three different kinds!) in the freezer to take out the night before, to rise overnight and you bake fresh in the morning.

We ourselves have a Wheaten Terrier who is hypo-allergenic for those with dog allergies (like me). She's mostly quiet. We also have 2 indoor cats upstairs where we live - none of which are EVER allowed in the apartment.
