Built in 1898, this house was a Sears and Roebuck catalog house that came by train in a "kit", and then by horse drawn wagon to the building site. It has been renovated by owners and has had recent updating.

Guests have the top floor exclusively to themselves with a separate front door entrance. The apartment has a coffee maker, gas range, microwave, refrigerator in kitchen and is equipped for cooking.

A Portland classic in one of the city's most vibrant neighborhoods, our light-filled home provides a central location to explore and a quiet respite. We are across the street from historic Laurelhurst Park and walking distance to Whole Foods, Laurelhurst Movie Theater and some of Portland's best restaurants, bars, and ice cream.

On the main floor you'll find a fully stocked kitchen, dining room, living room and 1/2 bath.

Upstairs, there is a master bedroom w/ king bed and balcony, great for morning coffee or sunsets. A second bedroom has a queen bed. An extra single mattress is available, if needed. There is one full bathroom upstairs.

The house has a private patio, BBQ and is lushly landscaped. It is a perfect yard and patio for evening dinners and long evenings.

✨ If you love Victorian shabby chic, you'll love your stay in the Cottage. As you walk up to the large covered porch you’ll immediately take note of classic romantic details - gingerbread gable trim, leaded and stained glass windows and a copper weather vane. Inside, the early 1900's furniture pieces and all of the architectural accents will thrill antique lovers, but of course the 180 sqft Cottage still provides all the present-day features of home.

​An antique hutch houses the kitchenette, which includes crystal glassware, china and pans for light cooking on the induction cook top. Under an exquisite chandelier in the living area, there is a small table with seating for two, perfect for a meal or to use as a work space. The Cottage also has a small refrigerator and you’ll find complimentary organic teas and coffee to enjoy in front of the cozy fireplace.

Sleeping Arrangements: A spindle railed stairway with generous steps leads up to the queen-sized bed in the cathedral ceiling loft and there is a double-sized fold down couch on the main floor for an additional adult guest.

✨ Normally, we design and build our own tiny houses at Tiny Digs but our latest tiny house was designed by Bryce Langston and built in collaboration with Tiny House Chattanooga. Bryce is well known in the tiny house community, with over 4m subscribers to his YouTube channel- "Living Big in a Tiny House". He has been traveling the world to report on some of the most beautiful and unique tiny houses out there with over 275 videos on his channel.

While designing the Zen house, the focus was on keeping the space light, airy and open for a relaxing feel. The house is compact because it was built with travel in mind. After it arrived at Tiny Digs we added our own design and decor features to complete the Zen atmosphere in true Tiny Digs Hotel themed house fashion.

As soon as you enter the Zen house you'll notice the beautiful picture window at the rear of the home overlooking our little Zen garden. Moving past the two person shower on your right hand side and the flush toilet area with sink on your left, you'll find the kitchenette and the desk area. Then the queen size bed welcomes you to relax and recharge surrounded by natural light.

With the extra large window facing the green space you can watch the squirrels and birds on the feeder or in the birdbath. Welcome to our family’s duplex. We're on a quiet side street – right around the corner from a dynamic gourmet restaurant scene. Take a short stroll to parks, live music, vintage shops, and a vintage movie theater. Walk, Lyft/Uber, bicycle (Nike’s bike share is around the corner) or use Portland’s amazing public transportation everywhere.
Tall windows let in lots of light and overlook greenery and cozy porches.
The space
Spend the night on dreamy beds (with a choice of firm or soft pillows) in the boho bedroom with bay windows or the antiques-filled bedroom overlooking greenery. Slip into scrumptious bathrobes and enjoy fluffy towels in the 2 bathrooms. Come into the well-stocked kitchen in the morning and help yourself to the local coffee and tea we provide. Then, stroll out to the southeast-facing back porch (right off the kitchen) and sip your drink in the beautiful morning light.

You’ll love relaxing and playing here: Curl up on the couch or huge chair, connect your laptop to our projector, and watch a show projected on the wall. Or choose from a selection of books and games, which you can spread out on the dining table or the big coffee table.

You’ll love working here too: fiber optic internet connection speeds things along. There is a desk in each bedroom, plus space at the dining table and at the bar in the kitchen.
Guest access
You will have your own key code to the smart lock at the front door. This lets you into the shared front hall. A similar smart lock lets you into your private unit.
You have access to front and back yards.
Please note that if you are not comfortable with stairs this is not an ideal choice. There are two short flights of stairs from the sidewalk to the front door (see pictures). The laundry room is downstairs from the kitchen, and the back yard is a short flight of stairs from the kitchen.
Other things to note
Although the sound proofing is quite good for a 1900 house, there will be low level noise transferring between floors. Most people are happy with it, but please do consider this if you are used to newer construction. We ask our guests to respect quiet hours from 10 pm to 7 am.
