Built in 1898, this house was a Sears and Roebuck catalog house that came by train in a "kit", and then by horse drawn wagon to the building site. It has been renovated by owners and has had recent updating.

Guests have the top floor exclusively to themselves with a separate front door entrance. The apartment has a coffee maker, gas range, microwave, refrigerator in kitchen and is equipped for cooking.

A Portland classic in one of the city's most vibrant neighborhoods, our light-filled home provides a central location to explore and a quiet respite. We are across the street from historic Laurelhurst Park and walking distance to Whole Foods, Laurelhurst Movie Theater and some of Portland's best restaurants, bars, and ice cream.

On the main floor you'll find a fully stocked kitchen, dining room, living room and 1/2 bath.

Upstairs, there is a master bedroom w/ king bed and balcony, great for morning coffee or sunsets. A second bedroom has a queen bed. An extra single mattress is available, if needed. There is one full bathroom upstairs.

The house has a private patio, BBQ and is lushly landscaped. It is a perfect yard and patio for evening dinners and long evenings.

On and off street parking is available.

On rare occasion a renter may be in the basement apartment. The unit is entirely separate from the main floors of the house. It has its own side entrance.

✨ If you love Victorian shabby chic, you'll love your stay in the Cottage. As you walk up to the large covered porch you’ll immediately take note of classic romantic details - gingerbread gable trim, leaded and stained glass windows and a copper weather vane. Inside, the early 1900's furniture pieces and all of the architectural accents will thrill antique lovers, but of course the 180 sqft Cottage still provides all the present-day features of home.

​An antique hutch houses the kitchenette, which includes crystal glassware, china and pans for light cooking on the induction cook top. Under an exquisite chandelier in the living area, there is a small table with seating for two, perfect for a meal or to use as a work space. The Cottage also has a small refrigerator and you’ll find complimentary organic teas and coffee to enjoy in front of the cozy fireplace.

Sleeping Arrangements: A spindle railed stairway with generous steps leads up to the queen-sized bed in the cathedral ceiling loft and there is a double-sized fold down couch on the main floor for an additional adult guest.

✨ Normally, we design and build our own tiny houses at Tiny Digs but our latest tiny house was designed by Bryce Langston and built in collaboration with Tiny House Chattanooga. Bryce is well known in the tiny house community, with over 4m subscribers to his YouTube channel- "Living Big in a Tiny House". He has been traveling the world to report on some of the most beautiful and unique tiny houses out there with over 275 videos on his channel.

While designing the Zen house, the focus was on keeping the space light, airy and open for a relaxing feel. The house is compact because it was built with travel in mind. After it arrived at Tiny Digs we added our own design and decor features to complete the Zen atmosphere in true Tiny Digs Hotel themed house fashion.

As soon as you enter the Zen house you'll notice the beautiful picture window at the rear of the home overlooking our little Zen garden. Moving past the two person shower on your right hand side and the flush toilet area with sink on your left, you'll find the kitchenette and the desk area. Then the queen size bed welcomes you to relax and recharge surrounded by natural light.

With the extra large window facing the green space you can watch the squirrels and birds on the feeder or in the birdbath. Welcome to our family’s duplex. We're on a quiet side street – right around the corner from a dynamic gourmet restaurant scene. Take a short stroll to parks, live music, vintage shops, and a vintage movie theater. Walk, Lyft/Uber, bicycle (Nike’s bike share is around the corner) or use Portland’s amazing public transportation everywhere.
Tall windows let in lots of light and overlook greenery and cozy porches.
The space
Spend the night on dreamy beds (with a choice of firm or soft pillows) in the boho bedroom with bay windows or the antiques-filled bedroom overlooking greenery. Slip into scrumptious bathrobes and enjoy fluffy towels in the 2 bathrooms. Come into the well-stocked kitchen in the morning and help yourself to the local coffee and tea we provide. Then, stroll out to the southeast-facing back porch (right off the kitchen) and sip your drink in the beautiful morning light.

You’ll love relaxing and playing here: Curl up on the couch or huge chair, connect your laptop to our projector, and watch a show projected on the wall. Or choose from a selection of books and games, which you can spread out on the dining table or the big coffee table.

You’ll love working here too: fiber optic internet connection speeds things along. There is a desk in each bedroom, plus space at the dining table and at the bar in the kitchen.
Guest access
You will have your own key code to the smart lock at the front door. This lets you into the shared front hall. A similar smart lock lets you into your private unit.
You have access to front and back yards.
Please note that if you are not comfortable with stairs this is not an ideal choice. There are two short flights of stairs from the sidewalk to the front door (see pictures). The laundry room is downstairs from the kitchen, and the back yard is a short flight of stairs from the kitchen.
Other things to note
Although the sound proofing is quite good for a 1900 house, there will be low level noise transferring between floors. Most people are happy with it, but please do consider this if you are used to newer construction. We ask our guests to respect quiet hours from 10 pm to 7 am.

A beautiful midterm rental for people who want clean, spacious functionality with historic charm. Central to NE shops, food trucks and thoroughfares to greater Portland. Hosts have been with Airbnb since its inception (2012) and we believe in simplicity and affordability for people who are in transition or temporarily in the area. The apartment is in great condition, and we appreciate guests who are good at communication and will take care of the space.

The space
The Lindquist Building is in the state historical record, which means if you like an old Twin Peaks mystique, or 1930s tile, the apartment has a discernible heritage. It's located a block off Sandy Boulevard which is an artery to downtown or freeway on ramps, but quiet and removed from urban noise disruption.

The area is as safe as most in Portland, just bring your stuff in from your car. The apartment is very safe, accessed through the building's locked front hall which has cameras for easy package delivery.

The apartment is well kept and clean, styled for minimalism but there are huge closets for anything you need to bring with you.

Guest access
You get the apartment - one bedroom, one bath, living room and kitchen with dining alcove - and access to the buildings coin laundry machines as well as a communal storage area for bikes or luggage, etc.

The foyer of the building has the mailboxes, which you can access while you stay.
Other things to note
The one clear point I need to make is that this rental cannot afford guests who overuse the utilities. We are not making bank, just getting by, and we ask you to be ecological and practical with the heat in the winter, especially.

The rental includes a baseline of utility usage comparable to previous winters and is enough to be warm and at ease. Guest usage that surpasses those norms will result in an additional utility charge.

We are honorable and this is not a way to assign hidden costs. It's a policy established after guests who seemed dishonorable and ditched the rental with exorbitant utility usage.

✨ Welcome to Tiny Digs’ newest addition, the Finlandia! The Finlandia’s theme is based off of Scandinavian culture and implements elements of Finnish design. Finland is dark and cold for much of the year but by bringing in natural light, neutral colors and integrating wood or other natural materials into their homes.

Finns are able to create a comfortable and snug space where they can peacefully spend the long winters. Scandinavians have perfected the art of being cozy and living simply and because of this they are often ranked the happiest people in the world.

We have worked hard to bring a little piece of this Finnish atmosphere to Portland for all of you to experience. The Finlandia sports beautiful black flooring that matches its exterior and mimics homes found in Scandinavia. You will also find an abundance of beautiful wood integrated into the tiny house, including cedar planking walls which give the home a delicious earthy scent and a beautiful maple floating staircase. We have chosen sleek, neutral colored appliances to accomplish the modern, minimal feel coveted amongst Scandinavians. It should be noted that we are located in Central Portland. While this is ideal for walkability to restaurants, other attractions, and proximity to downtown, it also means we have rehabilitation centers nearby. Come enjoy our cozy, quiet studio! The studio has a private bath (shower, toilet, sink) and shares a kitchen with the adjacent studio. Essentially, there are two studios on the ground floor with radiant heated floors - very comfortable in both cold and hot months of the year! Entrance is shared as well as laundry and kitchen, but everything else is private.

We live upstairs as hosts and this is an old 1920s home so sounds do carry. Please check our reviews to read a little bit about how other guests enjoyed staying with us! We're on a quiet side street – right around the corner from a dynamic restaurant scene in Kerns, the 5th coolest neighborhood in the world. Spend the night on the dreamy full bed with a choice of soft or firm pillows and quality cotton sheets always cleaned in scent-free detergent. Slip into scrumptious bathrobes and enjoy fluffy towels. Help yourself to coffee or tea in the morning and enjoy it on the front porch that sits a half story above the sidewalk below. If you feel like eating in, store your groceries or takeout in the small fridge and use the microwave, and/or air fryer/toaster.

You will have your own key code to the smart lock at the front door. This lets you into the shared front hall. A similar smart lock lets you into your private unit.

Please note that if you are not comfortable with stairs this is not an ideal choice. There are two short flights of stairs from the sidewalk to the front door (see pictures).

Please don't miss that the bed is a full bed.
Although the sound proofing is quite good for a 1900 house, there will be low level noise transferring between floors. Most people are happy with it, but please do consider this if you are used to newer construction. We ask guests to respect quiet hours between 10 pm and 7 am.
There are security cameras facing outside from the front door and from the outside door to the basement.

A *lower unit* apartment in a custom-built modern house in a buzzing neighborhood filled with restaurants, boutiques, parks and grocery stores.

The NE 28th restaurant row is one block away and there are around two dozens restaurants within walking distance from the apartment. You can walk to the beautiful Laurelhurst Park. The Whole Foods is four short blocks away. There is a 24-hr convenience store right around the corner.

The space
It is a *lower* unit apartment in a custom-built modern house. It has a separate entrance as shown in the photo posted.

It is a one-bedroom apartment equipped with everything: full kitchen, full bath with tub and shower, and washer and dryer, etc.

We have a queen size bed in the bedroom for two people. If you are a family with a kid, we have an airbed mattress for you to use in the living room.

Our records show that on average, our guests stayed for a month or more, making our apartment a good choice for staycation.

***Update : We have adopted a stringent cleaning and disinfecting process to protect our guests and ourselves. All rooms were properly ventilated for days before cleaning. We use disinfectants registered by the Environmental Protection Agency that have at least 70% alcohol.

We appreciate guests who are neat and considerate. We have bamboo floor throughout the apartment. To help minimize scratch and stain, please take off your street shoes upon entering the apartment. Since it is a lower unit, it doesn't get as much natural light as the upper unit. On rainy days, the apartment could feel dark. If light and bright is important to you, this apartment wouldn't be a good fit. If you are very sensitive to noise, you might be bothered by some impact noise from the upper unit, so this apartment wouldn't be a good fit either.

The space has a kitchenette and large private deck to enjoy the sun in summer months and stars in winter months. Guests have access to our shared laundry areas as well.

WE WILL SEND CURRENT DOOR CODES just before your arrival. We change them after each stay.

There is wifi, smart TV, CD player with many CDs available, a washer and dryer to use as needed, and anything else, please ask! We supply some basics, like coffee, tea, basic cooking items, for your use. We are just minutes from a sea of restaurants for take out, as well as Whole Foods Market, corner stores, and the like.

Other things to note
The penthouse has stairs to get to it. It's on the third floor of our old Portland home. For travelers who have difficulty walking or climbing stairs, please take note. It is also high up, with exterior spaces, such as the deck, so right now we are NOT taking families in with young kids. We have a daughter and would love to host families with babies or young kids but we cannot do so until we have put in some baby/child proofing securities. Please ask if you are traveling with kids.
