Steps from central Mount Pleasant and the Saturday farmers' market, the available apartment is the in-laws' suite below our "Grande Dame" townhouse on historic Lamont Street. The apartment has its own entrance off Lamont Street, and is not directly connected to our residence. A cozy, well appointed apartment in great location, is a delightful alternative to staying in a hotel but with all the same amenities, ideal for business travel or family vacation. The Space:
This 2000 sq. ft recently renovated and artistically designed 3-br row house unit is located in the central yet very private and quiet historical District of Mount Pleasant (right across the east entrance to the National Zoo). In between of red, yellow and green metro lines, all within walking distance or by the metro bus. For those with a car parking is available right by the house with the free city guest permit.
Original cathedral ceilings with beams and arches carefully preserved over the last century combined with eclectic art-deco elements, such as original art and lighting, tile murals and wooden decorative elements added in the process of recent major renovation, recreate the authentic Nation's Capital style of the house originally built in 1917. Numerous skylights fill the house with bright light.
Backyard is fully fenced and boasts a seating area with umbrella, sunbathing area with sun lounges. The garden is beautifully landscaped with a variety of scented plants providing perfect relaxation space in the middle of the city.
The property is so expansive by DC standards that even travelers from large groups will enjoy plenty of individual space and rooms. The additional sleeping arrangements include a queen pull-out bed with real springs mattress in the living room.
The home features 3 spacious bedrooms on the second floor:
- The master bedroom with a vaulted ceiling overlooking the historic neighborhood (1 queen size real bed);
- the second bedroom (queen bed) with tall 3-sectional windows;
- a spacious third bedroom (a pullout sofa opens up into a full sized sleeper).
The first level of the home has:
- a generously sized living room with a fireplace separated from the sitting room by a door for privacy;
- a banquet-sized sitting/TV room with beautifully refinished original cherry-wood trim on the ceilings (queen pull-out sofa with real mattress, a pocket sliding door separates it from the fireplace room);
- a large breakfast/family room with a floor-to-ceiling bay window and terracotta tile floors.

There are two fully renovated two full bathrooms with marble floors, murals and Grohe fixtures on the second floor with skylights. A modern kitchen with granite counters, marble backsplash and stainless appliances with all necessary equipment opens into the breakfast area. The breakfast area extends onto a vast summer terrace/deck/garden in the backyard for sole use of the house guests. The house also features designer lighting throughout, wide halls on both levels and plenty of storage space. Parking by the property with a guest permit (upon request). Private washer and dryer for the house. Wireless internet, Roku for Netflix, cable TV with HBO. Hardwood throughout.
Owner resides in the house when it is not rented so host belongings are here. You have full size bed stands available for storage in each bedroom. For longer stays the host may free up more space for storage, as needed.

Mount Pleasant is a prestigious established historic neighborhood, with lots of historical mansions and townhomes, very quiet, safe and picturous. Hidden from tourist crowds and yet within 10 min walk to Adams Morgan and Logan Circle entertainment zones, 20 min walk to Wardman Marriott, the location of the area is quite unique.
Getting Around:
12 min walk to Columbia Heights metro; 7 min walk to Adams Morgan amenities; 3 min walk to the National Zoo; a local bus stop to Van Ness metro is only 1 min from the property. A bus line takes your directly to the White House. The Zoo bike sharing station is within a 2 min walk. Convenient to Convention Center (2 metro stations away), AIRP (S2/S4 direct buses short walking distance from us), Mariott at Woodley is within a 20 min walk. The house comfortably sleeps 12 guests. With a queen-sized bed in the primary bedroom, a full-size bed in the secondary bedroom, and a twin pull-out couch in the office bedroom, 5 can sleep upstairs. Add a queen-sized air mattress, a daybed, and the couch in the living space and there is easily room for 8. Enter the basement to find a fully operating in-law suite with an additional bedroom equipped with a full-sized bed and a pull out sofa; in total, 4 additional people can fit in the basement comfortably, bringing the house total to 12. While the basement unit is generally occupied by the owner of the home, it will be entirely cleared out for your use. The space is perfect for families, couples, considerate groups, friends, and business travelers.

2. To reiterate, Quiet Hours are from 10pm to 8am every day of the week.
3. No additional guests (anyone not listed on the reservation and included in the total guest count) unless otherwise communicated and agreed on. If this rule is violated and more guests are present on the property without the host’s knowledge and permission, a fee of $25 per person per day will be assessed. This rule is meant to prevent any dishonest behavior by all parties, to prevent any extra wear and tear on the property, and most importantly, to keep everyone safe.

Historic home located in the heart of DC, come stay at this garden level studio unit. Close to many historic sites, monuments, the Capitol, museums, and more. Very walkable and metro accessible neighborhood close to many bars, restaurants, and shopping. Three blocks from the Columbia Heights metro station.
This space has a private entrance, one queen size bed and one queen size inflatable mattress. Unit includes a washer and dryer, kitchenette, TV, wireless internet, dishes, linens, towels, and soap. Limited street parking in this neighborhood; however, there is a parking garage just two blocks away.
No smoking inside unit, may smoke outside.

We used an air mattress for our family of 4 and it was cozy but comfortable!"

The Space:
You will be staying in the lower level of a classic historic DC rowhouse. This bright, stylish, and spacious apartment has just been furnished with amazing attention to detail to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
The home is centrally located and is a walk, bike ride, or short drive away from the best DC has to offer. All around are peaceful, neighborly, tree-lined streets of historic Mount Pleasant – a true village in the city. We are a block away from the commercial center of the neighborhood, where there are multiple restaurants and options for coffee, baked goods, meals, groceries, etc. We are a 10-minute stroll to the nearest metro station (Columbia Heights). And we are .5 miles from D.C.’s beautiful and much-loved Rock Creek Park. There you’ll find miles of riverside trails -- great for biking and running or an evening picnic. For people traveling with children, there are multiple options nearby, including playgrounds, ice cream and pizza shops, the National Zoo (a 10-minute walk away), and the many other kid-friendly options DC offers.
We comfortably sleep 4 adults, or a small family in our 2 bedrooms, furnished with a queen-sized bed and a full-sized bed. Each room has its own updated bathroom for ultimate convenience.
For families traveling together, the apartment includes a Pac N Play, kids utensils (plates / cups), and more!
As you walk in, you enter the living room with a large and open plan that lets loads of light come in from the southern-facing windows. With exposed brick, a gorgeous chefs kitchen and bright lights, the space feels open and airy. For those who are working from home, there is plenty of workspace at the kitchen island, and also at the built-in window dining area.

- "Cozy and comfortable" - "A great, efficient, modern, convenient, well-located room/apartment. There's not a ton of living space beyond the kitchen and bedroom, but there's no wasted space either, and if you're vacationing in a city like D.C. it's unlikely you're needing a place to sit around all day. Has all the appointments one needs for a comfortable stay in a studio space, and is located within walking distance of restaurants, bars, etc., etc. Some VRBOs are a little *too* homey. Yes, it's nice to feel like home-away-from-home sometimes. This one is more upscale hotel-ish. The kitchen has all you'll need for basic meals - not making Thanksgiving dinner on one's trip to D.C. anyway, probably - and the shower-only bathroom is nicely renovated and modern-comfortable. Responsive management, and easy entry/check-in. Overall, if you're looking for a studio in a great location and at a good rate, you can't go wrong here. We'd stay again. Thanks, Travis.-"

Enjoy wooded serenity while being minutes away from vibrant city life. Top floor (3rd floor) private suite right next to Rock Creek Park on a quiet, tree-lined street. Comfortable, spacious, light-filled bedroom, full bath, and access to shared kitchen. Easy access to public transportation, nightlife, and amenities. No pets allowed.
Free parking on street, however parking is limited to 2 hours. if your stay is longer, I'll issue you free permit (you need to let me know car tag, color, car brand). Top floor is all yours, the rest of the house is shared with owner. Digital entry door lock for hassle free key check in. Front entry door must be locked at all times even when at property. Instructions how to use digital lock will be send to you ahead of your arrival.
Note: Your space is on top floor 3rd floor and there are 28 stairs. No elevator!

Our darling studio apartment is located in the heart of Adams Morgan - activities, entertainment, and culture surround this urban oasis in the city.
The Metro, 16th St shopping at DC USA, Mount Pleasant’s restaurants, coffee houses and shops, Rock Creek Park, and the Adams Morgan neighborhood are all within easy walking distance. Washington DC’s iconic monuments and museums are a short Metro, taxi, bus or Uber ride away.
We can comfortably sleep 3/4 guests in a queen sized bed, and a full sized loveseat sofa bed - ideal for families, couples, business travelers and the like.

Welcome to our one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment in the best neighborhood in DC. This English basement is perfect for small families, couples, or business travelers. Mt. Pleasant is a quiet and leafy neighborhood with easy access to everything.
The apartment is equipped with everything you might need to make your stay comfortable, including a full kitchen. We are family-friendly! If you are bringing small children, we provide much of the necessary equipment to lighten your load (listed under amenities; we also provide a white noise machine).
This is a private basement apartment with its own entrance. As with many homes in DC the upper unit has full-time occupants. You will have your own entrance and private access, however please be mindful of the fact that noise can travel upwards and downwards. Footsteps and noises from young children playing upstairs can be heard in the apartment between 7:30 am to 7:30 pm, especially when they are not in school on the weekends, so if you like to sleep in after 7:30 am, this apartment is probably not the right fit. We also ask that you keep your noise level low in the evenings as it's a quiet neighborhood at night.
PARKING for stays shorter than 7 nights: There is free street parking on weekends, federal holidays, and overnight on weekdays from 8:30 PM-7:00 AM. During the day on weekdays, you can only park your car for 2 hours max on the street. We are happy to answer any parking questions before you book.
For stays longer than 7 nights: Please inquire about alternate weekday parking arrangements that we can help you make.
Many restaurants, coffee shops, and a grocery store are all about 0.5 mile away right in the neighborhood. There are also bike, car, and scooter rentals in the neighborhood.
Tourist attractions downtown, like the White House, the Mall, and museums, are accessible by walking to the bus (less than 0.5 mile to many bus stops) or the metro (0.8 mile to the Columbia Heights station). The National Zoo is a 0.8 mile walk away.

The Space:
BONUS: The piece-de-resistance of this property is the one-of-a-kind covid-friendly hair salon ‘Open Hair Care’ on site! The owner (and acclaimed stylist) of the residence set up the salon in his back yard during covid and continues to style Washingtonian’s in his chic (green roofed) shed. It has to be seen to be believed. One lucky guest per group can enjoy a complimentary gift - a safe and stylish FREE haircut (in order to enjoy your free haircut, it must be arranged IN ADVANCE of your stay with us and will be at 9:45AM).
The Space
A calming space awaits with whimsical birdhouse decals and decor that add a lovely charm to the space. The apartment was meticulously designed with the traveler in mind; a cozy living space with wall mounted smart TV (Netflix, and Disney+ included, but guests are welcome to download and log into their preferred streaming accounts). There’s even a laptop friendly desk nook area so you can get some work done!
We can comfortably sleep 4 guests;
~ Queen sized bed in the primary bedroom
~ Full sized bed in the second bedroom (originally a bunk bed the railings have been modified for a cool design that doubles as added security for restless sleepers and little ones, no falling out of bed!).

Our fully furnished, well appointed three-story 4BR / 1.5BA house in the Mt. Pleasant neighborhood is available for rental starting as soon as Jan 1 and not later than Feb 1. Lots of space and amenities available for kids. Ideal medium-term rental for families or groups--we have been pleased to host many neighbors doing home renovations. We are looking to make rentals of 2-6 months in length with extension possible; we are open to discussing longer durations, particularly to match the school year.

Our home is a semi-attached 3-story house on a quiet street just steps to Mt Pleasant shops & restaurant, 5 min walk to Rock Creek Park, and 10 min walk to shops and metro station of Columbia Heights. (And of course we think Mt. Pleasant is the most friendly neighborhood in DC!)
HOUSE:
The first floor is where you'll spend most time, be it the kitchen, the dining room, or the living room. Enjoy high ceilings, elegant details, and plenty of light pouring in on three sides. Plus a 55" TV, half bathroom, and coat closet.
The second floor has a master bedroom with king bed and closet, a child's bedroom, and a room suitable for infant/child/single adult, as well as the main bathroom--which includes a 6 foot clawfoot tub.
The third floor offers a pleasant place to work with two desks and a cozy queen bedroom in our turret.
All bedding and towels will be available. The kitchen is fully equipped for your use, including gas range and dishwasher. Full laundry facilities are in the basement. Driveway allows for dedicated off-street parking. This house is kid friendly--a crib is available as are extra mattresses, with a trampoline in the backyard. Our apartment is the apartment we would want to stay in. It is spacious and has exposed brick painted white so it is bright and feels open. It also contains unique works of art and is situated in a fabulous location. We are down the block from the National Zoo, and down the street from some lovely restaurants. Rock Creek Park with its bounty of hiking and biking trails is a few blocks away and we are no more than 15 to 20 minutes from any of the major DC sites. Some guests of late have complained that is a basement apartment. We want to make sure you understand that means natural light is limited bt we have recess lighting to compensate.

We live upstairs with our two small kids and dog. This is our home so you will hear our footsteps, kids playing and our sweet dog barking. We honor our quiet hours from 10pm-7:30am. We provide earplugs for your stay.
If you’re needing to park a vehicle during your stay, you will have to park on the street. We will gladly issue you a visitor parking permit for your stay. Please let us know in advance as we will need some info on your car to issue you this pass.

Guests enter their accommodations through a private entrance in the back of the house using a keypad.
You are more than welcome to use our side yard, which has sitting furniture and a fire pit! We are happy to provide firewood for you.
Other things to note
The unit has a separate heating and cooling system but the thermostat is upstairs in our living room. That means you won’t be able to adjust the temperature of the space yourself but we are always happy to adjust it for you. You will be able to maneuver the vents, controlling how much air comes into the basement.
We keep it at a comfy 70-73 degrees in the Summer and 69-72 degrees in the Winter. Again, happy to modify for you.
We have two inflatable twin mattresses at an extra charge and two bikes available rent.
Finally, since it is a basement unit, very tall people might find it uncomfortable to walk around.

There is on-street 2 hour meter-free parking on our street. If you are bringing a car, we are happy to request a visitors parking permit on your behalf, which is valid for 15 days. Just provide us with your car's information a week in advance so that we may secure it for you.

Cute, spacious and private apartment in a rowhouse in Mount Pleasant, a historic and vibrant rowhouse neighborhood in the center of DC. Easy access to downtown.
This is the basement apartment of a Victorian rowhouse. It is private with its own separate entrance and is not connected to the main house. The bedroom has one queen bed and the living room has one queen sofa-bed.
The space
You walk down a small set of stairs from the street to enter the apartment. When you walk in the front door, you walk down two stairs and you are in the living room, which has a sofa bed, sit/stand adjustable work desk and office chair, coffee table, dining room table and chairs. There is a pass through window between the living room and kitchen.
When you walk down the corridor, which is on your right side as you enter, you first encounter the kitchen on your left, which has a fridge and freezer, stove and oven, microwave, dishwasher and other useful things like glasses, dishes, cutlery, pots and pans etc, and also has the laundry (washer and dryer) behind a door next to the stove.
Next on your left is the full bathroom, with sink, mirror, toilet, and bathtub with a shower in it. We provide towels, shampoo, conditioner and bars of soap.
At the end of the corridor is the bedroom. In the bedroom is a queen size bed, a bedside table, a large mirror, a dresser that is empty and ready for your clothes, and a clothes rack on wheels with hangers. There is a closet in the bedroom but this will be locked during your stay and not available for use.
The ceilings throughout the apartment are approximately eight and a half feet high. A bit lower in the bathroom.

Parking situation and transit info:
TL;DR version: if you are traveling with a car, then our place might not be the best choice for your stay. On the other hand, if you are visiting DC without a car, our place is an excellent choice.
Longer version for those who want the details:
There is no off-street parking.
There is on-street parking available, which is free of charge, but only for a maximum of 2 hours during certain times, which are generally weekdays during the day. There are some days, e.g. some weekend days, when you are allowed to park for longer than 2 hours.
This is one of the most dense neighborhoods in DC, which we think you will love in terms of access to restaurants, cafes, public transit and so on. However this means that often there is no space available on our block, and the nearest available spot may be a few blocks away.
Parking enforcement is pretty strict and active. If you leave your car parked for much more than 2 hours during a weekday, you are likely to get a ticket. They also carry out towing in some circumstances, for example for multiple tickets, blocking access, parking on street sweeping days, etc.
There is a paid lot a few blocks away. If you look up the Target and Best Buy in Columbia Heights DC (the “DC USA” shopping complex), that is where the paid parking is. That is probably the safest option for daytime parking. As for overnight parking there or multiple days, we recommend asking them directly.
In other words, visiting with a car is possible, but not really recommended.
For those traveling without a car, this neighborhood is ideal, being well-served by metro (green line is closest - the Columbia Heights stop), major bus routes (eg S1, S2, S4, S9, and 42, 43), city bike share, the ubiquitous electric bikes and scooters, and of course Uber Lyft etc. This apartment is walking or cycling distance to a lot, and it’s easy to get downtown via transit, especially by bus.

The space
Rock Creek Sanctuary doubles as comfortable and convenient DC lodging and a micro urban retreat space. It's full of lovely touches to delight you, from comfortable furnishings to charming surprises tucked in for you to discover and enjoy. You may find some garden flowers on the windowsill, freshly baked bread, or figs from the backyard tree. You might even rollerskate!
Located in the English basement (garden level) of a row house in leafy Mount Pleasant, DC, Rock Creek Sanctuary offers a variety of options for day and overnight use. Lounge in the large main reading/sleeping space, meander the trails in nearby Rock Creek Park, stop for coffee at one the neighborhood’s lovely cafes, fix up a nourishing meal in the eat-in kitchen, eat outside on the patio overlooking the garden and relax in a hammock before setting up a firepit as the sun goes down. The space offers a European-style king bed (two twin beds which can used separately or combined) and a fold-out couch. An air mattress is available upon request. (Note that as it is a basement level space, it is lacking in high ceilings. My 6’2” husband can navigate just fine, but extra tall guests will want to avoid jumping too enthusiastically!) The space also has a private bathroom and a small private deck, in addition to patio access. Shared washer/dryer is available, as is WiFi, but we'd be happy to turn it off if you want to fully unplug.
Guests are welcome to reserve space overnight or for day use (request to get a special offer), making it the perfect place to rest your weary feet after a day of sight-seeing OR carve out time for yourself while kids are in school, schedule deep work thinking, take a writing retreat, or just be still with yourself. We also welcome small indoor/outdoor events, like a cozy arts night or small group retreat. The space is ideal for a solo getaway, but can comfortably fit 6-10 people for day use, with 4 overnight guests. You can also request a day use add on if you’d like to extend your final day beyond our usual check out time.

You'll have full and private access to the garden apartment that is Rock Creek Sanctuary, and shared access to our patio (with private cafe table, a shared outdoor dining set, hammocks, outdoor heater & fire pit) and the utility space (where the washer / dryer & extra supplies are stored). - We're not on duty 24/7 like a hotel, but get back to you with the best service we can, as soon as we can.
- If you are used to a lot of space, DC's narrow urban row houses (and narrow parking spaces) may seem tight!
- Getting into the Sanctuary involves stairs.
- If it is total silence and privacy you seek, we are probably not the best choice! Life with three small children in an historic house means the pitter patter of wee feet and periodic house creaks and groans are unavoidable. We do our best to respect quiet hours in the mornings and evenings, and our children are our of the house most of the day on week days, but there will likely be some sounds of family life echoing through. (We do provide a white noise machine.)
- We have a friendly old cat named Fatty (but definitely not fat) who lives in the main house with us. You may see him wandering about and are welcome to say hi/pet him.
Finally, kids are most welcome! We live next door to a playground and the yard affords a little space to unwind. If your family is bigger than 4, just reach out, we’d love to make it work for you. We have a high chair some kid stuff in the space. (Guests with kids are welcome to move breakables out of the way for their stay). Don't see what you need? Our home is in historic Mt. Pleasant, and is the perfect place to host a family, small group, or couple looking to visit DC. You'll have the entire 700 square foot basement apartment all to yourself which features 2 bedrooms, a living room, kitchenette, and full bathroom. You'll have access to a parking spot which leads directly to a back patio, allowing you to come and go through private entrance. The space is private, well appointed, and comfortable, with easy access to metro/bus.

There is an off street parking spot (warning: it’s not huge) and a gated entrance to the garden area, which is shared with us.

This Airbnb is not appropriate for people who are in DC to party. It is a lower level unit in a residential neighborhood. We live above with two small children. Additionally, there is no oven in the unit.

If you like dogs, feel free to pet him or play fetch with him. He is very friendly. Please do not feed him though. He doesn't bark that much, but if he is ever disrupting you let us know and we can move him to the office upstairs.

We invested in soundproofing between the basement unit and our home upstairs so noise should be minimal, but we are a family with children so there will not be total silence.
Note that the neighborhood is relatively safe but as with many urban locations does have some degree of crime. Parking area in back is open to alley and while well lighted we recommend you take reasonable precautions and not leave anything of value in car.

The Airbnb is in the basement of a house built in 1900s. We absolutely love its charm, but with charm also comes creaks and quirks. We have just installed a new ceiling and insulation in the Airbnb to muffle footsteps from the house above (where we live). The boiler system is located in the utility closet in the living room. In the wintertime, you will hear it turn and off as it heats the house and will also hear clanging from the radiators in the main part of the house.
We are located on a quiet residential street, but you may occasionally hear cars or pedestrians out the window.
We have provided a white noise machine in each of the bedrooms in case you are a light sleeper, and the noise is bothersome to you. We have also provided pairs of ear plugs, which are located in the drawer of the bedside table should those be helpful. While we generally find these sufficient for our comfort, should you require zero noise while sleeping, we recommend you find alternate accommodations.

The basement apartment also has a master bedroom with a queen bed, a small second bedroom with a twin bed (pulls out to double in size), and a couch that can sleep 1-2 guests (a single person cot is also available upon advanced request). We are two blocks from bus lines and a 10-15 minute walk to the metro, and just steps to great restaurants, grocery stores, a small wonderful Saturday farmers market, and a 10 minute walk to the zoo (free, but does require a reservation), and less than a mile from lively Adams Morgan.

Our guests will have access to our English basement apartment through the front entrance. The back door is for emergency egress only.
You'll have access to the entire lower level, which includes a private entrance. There is a smart TV (Chromecast), and high speed Wi-Fi (50-300Mbps). There is a full-size kitchen with a microwave, coffee maker, hot water heater (electric kettle), toaster, and full size fridge. There is also a dining area and countertop bar.

This Airbnb is not appropriate for people who are in DC to party. It is a lower level unit in a residential neighborhood.
NOISE: The apt is below a main house with family foot traffic (including one dog) overhead.
