The cozy 1000sq ft 2-story Bungalow is only 10 minutes off I-5. It was built in the 70's as a get-a-way in the woods. It boasts many recent updates while holding a lot of original character. The main house was added in the 90's, but the Bungalow is still detached, and very private. So quiet that you may never see or hear the owners in the main house, and they may never see or hear you.

The reviews don't lie; the Bungalow has everything, and that means everything you might need for a comfortable stay... especially the high-quality Cal-King, and XL Twin beds…who doesn't need a great night sleep?! The kitchen is nicely stocked with coffee, fresh cream, condiments, spices and snacks. In the morning enjoy making gluten-free buttermilk pancakes and eggs. The kitchen was tiny, which was hard for us as people who often cook on these vacations, but we made do. I have put a few years in building my little get away, for family and friends, and this year I have decided to open it to the public to rent, first thing i want to mention is I hand cut every board , beam and plank myself, other then the floor which were boards over 125 yrs. old that came from a homestead cabin near here, I actually have 2 cabins, one is the main living cabin and the other i call Bunkouse #1 which has 2 sets of bunkbeds for extra sleeping and storage space, there is a small loft with one full size bed and a small set of drawers, it is confy with the short ceiling, but the view out to the North is amazing, you can see out to the end of the property where the rivers are and also Mt. Rainier in the distance, also the couch in living space is a hide a bed, The cabin is completely off the grid, I will meet with you at the property to go over a few things to know all pretty basic but power is provided with solar panels, but if battery cells run low there is a back up power inverter, which can be started remotely from inside the cabin or outside, as the picture shows I have a porta potty, but just recently added a full bathroom with a inside toilet! , the property is completely fenced in for pets and small children don't get lost, there is a trailhead at the back of yard in the pic, this leads you to the edge of a active beaver pond, and to walk the trail to the river, which is where the North Fork and South fork join and is the border of my east end of my property, you will have to cross the beaver dam then about 1/8 mile to the river, which is normally crystal clear and very warm in the summer, and is only about a 10 min. easy hike out to the river, there is a lot of hiking area around my property I am almost surrounded by Washington State Dept of Fish and Wildlife property. the cabin is heated by propane which i provide also, as well as the water heater for the shower, which there is a small shower room in the cabin with a shower and sink, pots and pans, silverware, cups are provided, firewood for the campfire is also provided, I have a nice color tv with DVD player with many, many DVDs, all family approved, my cabin located 60 miles north of Portland in the small community of Toutle where my family history goes back 130 yrs. there is a small general store 1/2 mile from the cabin, Silver Lake, which in my opinion is one of the most beautiful lakes in the state, and is excellent fishing and watersports and the main resort is approx 2 miles from the cabin, also the cabin is just off of hwy504 better known as mt. St. Helens hwy, which has lots to do for visitors, from hiking, fishing and 2 different centers, Seaquest state park is also only about 5 minutes away, Long Beach Península and Ilwaco wa. on the pacific ocean are only about 1.5 hours away. There is a lot to do and besides giving you info on off grid living, I can also let you know when and where to go see a herd of wild horses which the herd has been in the area for over 100 years, and is only 5 minutes away where they come out in the afternoons, early in the mornings are the best time to see the beaver, from the edge of the yard down the bank to there pond, also we have a lot of deer come thru, I have seen otters in the river playing and also there are a few Bald Eagles nest in nearby, in the one pic is my grandkids playing in the river when a eagle flies right over them to catch a fish. Just added a new picture the horses are part of the wild Toutle horse herd, who have been free to roam in the near area for approx. 140 years, first set free by local homesteaders who released to the wild when no longer needed, the now are taken care of by local horseman/woman who feed them in the winter, for my guest I will draw an easy map to go see where they come nearly every evening at dusk and it is only 5 minutes from cabin/

The Loft is just a little over 1,000sq. ft. This guest house is attached to our shop with a separate and private entry. Located approximately 40ft from our home.

Feel free to park in front of any spots in front of the shop. There is also a large circle driveway so lots of room for parking or if towing anything.

There is a lighted covered porch that wraps around to the left you will find the front door entry into The Loft.

Late check-out: In order to respect our Stager's time, we are unable to offer late check-outs. Late check-out fees will be assessed by the following:
$50/hour for each hour beyond the scheduled check-out time
If more than three hours late, the cost of an
additional night on top of the check-out fee will be charged
Please note that if an arriving guest has to be re-homed due to a late check-out, we will charge a re-homing fee of $200 in addition to the previously mentioned. Additional costs (hotels, cleaning fees)

Because this gorgeous home is located on the Lake, you will notice various critters around. It is not abnormal to see bats, geese, ducks, deer, mosquito and moths. Please note that we are not able to issue refunds for this.

I have security cameras on the exterior of the lake house, that record motion and sound. One is at the front entryway, recording the entrance and street. One is in the back deck area, recording the whole backyard. They will record 24/7 during your stay for security and to prevent parties.

We are located 2 miles from the boat launch in Toledo on the Cowlitz River and 5.6 miles to the Blue Creek boat launch and hatchery. Our property is large enough to accommodate your truck and boat trailer.
If you love skydiving we are 5.5 miles away from Skydive Toledo at the Toledo airport.

We are able to offer nightly horse accommodation if needed in the barn that is located on the property. For more information on boarding please message me.

Our studio offers 2 beds, one queen and a twin. Private bathroom with a shower. A dining area with a table and chairs, 3/4 size refrigerator and freezer,microwave, newly added portable air conditioner and coffee pot with complimentary coffee, creamer and sugar.
A BBQ area is available for guest use. BBQ grill is charcoal fire. You will find bbq tools and charcoal briquettes in the studio dining area.
On clear nights you can star gaze while listening to the frogs croaking.
While on our farm please do not open any gates. We don’t want our 2 friendly dogs or any of the horses or miniature cows getting loose.

As a part of the stay she will take you on a tour of the her home and introduce you to her animals which are very much a part of her family. - "My family stayed over Thanksgiving break. There was a window of fantastic weather with clear skies. We would start the day with coffee on the porch, watching the ducks play in the lake. Then we daytripped to Portland to hike. We drove up towards the mountains for breathtaking views of Mt Ranier and Mt St Helens. Then we would come back and cuddle up by the fireplace. Kara's home feels just like that - home. We would love to go back there next winter, or even during the summer to enjoy the lake. We highly recommend this place!"

- "We needed a large place to stay in order for our family to be together for my mother’s funeral. The house and condo were exactly as listed and pictured. At one time, we had 3 adults downstairs and 5 adults upstairs. We did most of our cooking and eating upstairs, so I hope we didn’t mix up the cookware too much! It was very comfortable for all - enough room to gather, or be separated. And the deer! We had a mother deer and her two youngsters visit every day, and even caught a glimpse of the buck. The setting is beautiful - we sat a lot on the porches and enjoyed the ambiance. We took a couple of walks around the neighborhood, too. The location was near where we needed to be (but Longview isn’t that big anyway). All in all, even though the occasion was not the happiest, the house was wonderful for us to gather as a family that doesn’t see each other often."

The Space:
Outside, our private deck and firepit provide an ideal spot to relax and sip your favorite beverage and take in the beautiful forest view. All new tempurpedic mattresses with three king size beds and two twin beds.

Guest Access:
Guest has full access to the main street level house. Note there is a second Air BnB unit on the lower level with separate entrance and access down the stairs on the left side of the house. Please be considerate of noise after 8pm.

The Neighborhood:
Quiet Safe Neighborhood just 1 mile from downtown. House backs to a wooded setting.

Other Things to Note:
There is a shared backyard that is not yet landscaped and is therefore not currently available for use.

The House of Healing was built in 1971. The A-Frame log cabin style is unique to the area and was hand built by the original owner and with community help.
Over the years, this house has been the home to the Lynn family, with its initial inhabitant living to be 96 years old! We love our historic home so much!
