As hosts, we live on site in a ground floor apartment and we're here for anything our guests may need. We do not share any living spaces, and we always honor the privacy of our guests. In warmer months you can expect to see us tending to our front garden and potted plants in the backyard. The entrance to our apartment is via an exterior back stairwell, so if you're using the back yard, you may see us coming and going. We've made it our top priority to ensure all of our guests have an unmatched experience. We are very friendly and enjoy sharing our home with our guests. Upon entering Parlour House you are greeted by our extensive living area. Vaulted ceilings with refinished beams create a beautifully open and airy atmosphere. With the combination of our entry seating area and modular leather sofa with movable ottoman, there is plenty of room for your group to gather.

Walking towards the front of Parlour House, you enter our moody English style kitchen, equipped with all new appliances, a locally handmade kitchen table with seating for 8, non-toxic Green Pan cookware, extra-large single bowl sink, and a beautiful view of our front garden.

Continuing through the kitchen, you will discover our cozy kitchen nook: home to our French door refrigerator & drawer freezer with ice machine, coffee bar with Nespresso Vertuo coffee + espresso machine, reverse-osmosis alkaline water tap, fully equipped bar cart, and plenty of pantry storage for your group. We also have a traditional coffee pot and tea kettle available for use.

After passing through the kitchen nook, it seems you have reached the end of Parlour House. That is until you pull on the bookshelf, unlocking a hidden door to reveal the underground Illini Game Room.

Walk downstairs and transport yourself into vintage Illini paradise. Explore varied University of Illinois memorabilia, play arcade games, a round of darts, choose a board game or pick up a deck of cards from our game closet. Cozy up and set the mood even further by turning on our electric fireplace. There is a mini fridge located in the game closet for your convenience.

Multiple seating areas in the game room provide ample space for your group to spread out, play games, and make memories together.

Where you’ll sleep:

Parlour House is home to four bedrooms and two bathrooms.

Bedroom 1 hosts a king-sized memory foam bed, double closets, wall paneling and wainscoting ceilings, all with room for a pack and play which can be provided upon request.

Bedroom 2 features airy, vaulted ceilings with the same refinished beams seen in our living space. Enjoy a comfortable queen-sized memory foam mattress, closet, dresser, and designated workspace.

Bedroom 3 hosts two full-sized beds & charming wallpaper paired with wainscoting ceilings and an antique dresser for the ultimate English country escape.

Upon entering Bedroom 3, you will find our linen closet with all towels, washcloths, and extra blankets. Please help yourself to the provided cleaning supplies if needed. There is an additional closet in this bedroom for clothes storage.

Bedroom 4 is located in the basement, at the far end of the game room. Sleep restfully on a queen-sized memory foam mattress, enjoy a reading nook with room for hanging clothes, and a dresser for clothes storage if needed.

Bathrooms:

Parlour House has two full bathrooms, conveniently located near the upstairs bedrooms. Bathroom 1 features a walk-in rainfall shower with a handheld wand. Bathroom 2 features a full tub and shower with removable shower head wand.

Outdoor Space:

Six burner gas grill with grilling utensils and free propane included. Gather around our SoloStove fire pit with seating to accommodate up to eight. We offer free fire wood and fire starters for our guests. Enjoy a meal at our outdoor dining table with seating for six. Relax on our spacious sectional big enough for your entire group. Ample string lighting for better vision after dark.

Book The Parlour House for a stay like no other!

-The City of Urbana requires all licensed short-term rental owners to live on property. We have a private onsite owners suite, and you will only meet us if necessary. We do not share any living spaces. We keep to ourselves, and as long as your group is being respectful, you will not hear from us.

-Noise Ordinance: Quiet hours in Urbana are from 10pm – 7am. Failure to comply with the noise ordinance will first result in host interference, escalating to police interference, Vrbo fines, and noise violation tickets. Please, be respectful.

-Unauthorized Guests: Our sleeping occupancy is city mandated for 8 guests. All guests must be registered by name prior to check in. NO UNAUTHORIZED GUESTS ALLOWED. In 2020, Vrbo banned all parties from their properties. There is a Zero Party Tolerance at our property. If you have exceeded our occupancy limits and unauthorized guests are present, they will be escorted from the property in violation of Vrbo rules. Fines may ensue.

-Exterior Security Cameras: Exterior doors and garages are equipped with security cameras for the safety of owners and guests. These cameras are exterior facing, and installed within Vrbo guidelines.

-Parking: DO NOT BLOCK THE DRIVEWAY AT ANY TIME. Our property has a shared driveway, and you are at risk of being towed for blocking the driveway or improper parking at any time. We offer four (4) private parking spots for our guests. There are two garage spots, and two parallel parking spaces. Street parking permits are available to purchase for $20, but we cannot guarantee the immediate availability of street parking outside of our home. 3 out of 4 parking spots require low profile vehicles, not exceeding 8ft. If your vehicle exceeds 8ft in height, you will need to use the gravel parking spot before the breezeway, or purchase a street permit.

The owners were VERY friendly and responsive to several pre-stay inquiries - much appreciated! There is a huge grocery store a few blocks away if provisions are needed. And the rental price was very reasonable. The only drawback, for me, was location in relation to UIUC — it’s a bit too far to walk, probably 2 miles from center of campus. That is, of course, a short 10 minute drive, but then one needs to deal with the difficult parking situation. All in all, I enjoyed the stay and definitely would stay again."

This is great for a friendly weekend, UIUC visitors, or a more extended corporate stay. Completely remodeled house with great appliances, granite countertops, and all the modern amenities one would want in their own house while away from home. Downtown Urbana is only a few minutes' car ride away. Feel like stretching your legs? We are within walking distance, a couple minutes from our favorite Meadowbrook Park or Larson Park. Two blocks away from a supermarket and bars/restaurants. You don't need a car to grab some groceries.
The house gives you more than enough room to stretch out and relax with plenty of daylight.
