It was also slightly odd having to pick up the keys from a kebab restaurant two or three streets away. The swimming pool won the roof was not available - but we were there in February."

Furthermore, a little guidance as to where things are in the apartment and how to switch things on would also be useful. I didn't find the clothes-horse until I ventured out on to the balcony and found another cupboard out there. I couldn't work out why the microwave wouldn't turn on until I found a load of switches around the corner for all the appliances. And one of the lamps by the TV just isn't working at all (it might need a bulb change). However, once you work all these things out, the apartment is great! Having a washing machine was definitely a welcome addition as I was between trips and needed to do a lot of washing! Gibraltar was very interesting to visit, like having my home town in a hot country, but with a lot more historical landmarks, steep hills and monkeys. Now that I know how things work in the apartment, I'll definitely consider staying here again."

I look forward to hosting you. I live in one of Gibraltar’s old Original city centre buildings in a third floor duplex apartment (no lift). Come and stay in my home in the perfect location. Guests can make full use of my kitchen, dining room and relax on my lovely peaceful balcony at the end of a busy day. Easy access to bus stops and all amenities. Main Street shops and bars are right on my doorstep. Walk to the top of the Rock or take a ride in the cable car and visit the famous Barbary Apes.

The space
In my home I have a nicely decorated guest room perfect for one or two people. The room is small but functional and is situated upstairs in my home next to two other bedrooms. The two single beds are great for couples, friends or family travelling together. There is a chest of drawers so that you can unpack, also a bedside table and a chair.
There are maps and leaflets in the room to help you plan your visit.
The shared shower room upstairs is next to the bedrooms.

Guest access
Guests have access to two shared shower rooms, one upstairs next to the bedrooms and one downstairs. You are welcome to use my kitchen and utensils. All I ask is that you clean away everything when you are finished. You can eat in the dining room and feel free to relax in my lounge area and on the balcony. There is a TV in the lounge with satellite channels.

As of 1st August 2022, Gibraltar Government have introduced a tourist tax of £3 per person, per night. This is payable upon arrival.
I live in the property with my daughter. We occupy two of the bedrooms.
This is a THIRD FLOOR apartment with NO lift but it does have a nice wide sweeping staircase.
Parking is very limited in Gibraltar although there are pay and display car parks around town. Some of my guests prefer to park their car in the carpark on the Spanish side of the border as it is cheaper. Getting around Gibraltar is easy on public buses or by foot.

Our two bedroom apartment is situated on the gorgeous Sandy Bay, Gibraltar and part of the Both Worlds Apartment complex. On the opposite side of the rock to the Town, this bay is peaceful and quiet. The apartment boast a beautiful view of the Mediterranean from its private balcony. Everything in Gibraltar is within 30 mins walk, but regular bus will take you from Both Worlds into Town. We do not have WiFi or a TV, just the perfect surroundings to relax and unwind.

Take a break and unwind at this peaceful oasis - perfect for relaxing and also for working. This studio is about 20 minutes walk from the airport, 20 minites walk to main street and about 15 minutes walk to Ocean village. The nearest beach is a few minutes walk away and other popular beaches further along the east coast. The flat is located on a high floor with great views of the beach and sea. There is a lovely restaurant downstairs and a spa and gym in the basement (not free).

The space
This is an open-plan studio with views of the beach, It comes equipped with TV, large fridge-freezer, wifi, tea, coffee, sugar, oven, microwaves, pots and pans, cutlery, washing machine, iron, ironing board, books to read, toaster, kettle. Nice view of the beach. There are 3 lifts downstairs that take you to the 18th floor. Please note these flat doors self-lock, so make sure you have you key with you before you shut the door.

Downstairs there is a Freska restaurant for you to sit inside or outdoors. There is also a Spa and gym in the basement (maximum 2 hours but has to be paid for is not cheap to use)!

Guest access
Normally, if I am not around, guests would access their key from a key-safe attached to the door knob. We will give you the PIN for the keysafe before you arrive. Please make sure you return the key to the keysafe when you check out. Note, there are two keys in the keysafe, please only take one (even if you are a couple), the second key is for emergency in case you ever lock your key in the flat, the second key will then help you get back into the flat to rescue your key (then replace that key back in the keysafe).

Note the main flat door self-locks, make sure you have the key before you exit the flat.

Other things to note
1) AC: To turn the AC on, just click on the yellow "ON/OFF" button once to switch the AC on, the AC flap should move slowly down then a little up before blowing air out, just click on the "ON/OFF" button again to turn off the AC. Sometimes the AC computer needs a reset, go to the fuse box by the wall near the flat door, lift up the fuse box flap and pull the AC switch down for a minimum of 5 minutes, then switch it up again to reset. Then try the AC again by pressing the "ON/OFF" button once to turn on. You don't need to press any of the other buttons except maybe the up down arrows for the "Temp". But it should be defaulted to a low enough temperature to blow cold air into the room. You can also click on the "Mode" option to decide if you want cold air blowing out, you can increase or decrease the temperature with the up and down arrows (like ^) and you can also click on "Comfort" button that will decrease the flap opening blowing less cold air.

2) BALCONY: Please don't lean on the glass partitions on the balcony (for your safety), feel free to sit there if you are not scared of heights (haha).

3) BINSTORE - This is located downstairs, from the lifts turn left and walk through the left entrance (right entrance leads to concierge and foyer), once through entrance, turn left, walk ahead and push the fire door open so you are outside, turn right and walk a few metres and there is a set of double doors on the right hand side, open the left door and you are in the binstore, it accepts normal refuse and recycling items such as cardboard and paper, glasses, plastic. If the fire door is sealed shut, go through the revolving doors in the foyer, turn left and left again through a narrow alley, walk past the concierge and the double doors will be on your left for the bin store.

4) CALL OUT CHARGE: There is a call out charge of £30 to let you back into the apartment if somehow, you lock both keys in the flat (which should not happen as you should only take one key from the lockbox or return the second key once you have gained entry into the flat again to retrieve your only key). Also please memorise the keysafe PIN in case you do lock the key inside the flat to avoid the £30 call out charge for someone to come out to let you back in.

5) CHECK-IN - 3pm or later.

6) CHECK-OUT at 10am or before

7) CLEANING AND LINEN STORAGE: the cleaner will store her items on top shelf of the first sliding door to the left of the centre or mirror sliding door (please do not touch or remove items from this top shelf). The cleaner also stores her cleaning and linen in the metal cabinet of 1808, please do not access this cabinet of 1808 (it is normally locked).

8) DO NOT FOLD THE BED INTO THE WALL: leave the bed as it is in case you damage the bed attempting to fold it into a 2 bed sofa.

9) DRAWERS, WARDROBE, WASHING MACHINE - 3 doors to the left when you are in the flat room (opposite the bathroom). The first two doors from the left SLIDE, please do not pull it like opening a normal door as you may pull the sliding doors off the hinges.
a) 1st door on the left has a set of drawers (once door slides to the left). There
is a safe above the drawers but I would not recommend you use it case you
cannot open the safe again - note this place is very secure.
b) 2nd or centre door with the mirror slides to the left revealing the wardrobe
(this is the one guests uses the most). Slide the door gently to the left to
hang your clothes. There might be an iron and ironing board in the
wardrobe too. To close the door, slide gently to the right until it is flush with
the edge. The door might be a little "sticky" as you close the gap, just slide
it gently and firmly to the right.
c) 3rd door or the right-hand-side door opens like a normal door, you can push
this in to open it a little then use your fingers to grab the left hand side of
the door to open. It is always best to leave it slightly ajar as there is no
handle. This door might scrape the floor a little, so be gentle and slow.
Inside is a washing machine if you ever want to use. You will also find a
broom, drying rack, mob and bucket. I will try to leave one or two washing
pods in case you do want to do a washing if you staying a while (I may
occasionally forget this)..

10) EXTRACTOR FAN Above the Hobs: Open the elongated glass flap of the extractor hood above the hobs, the round button pops down, twist that button to adjust the fan strength. When finished, fold the glass flap back up to press the button back in to shut the fan.

11) FIRST AID BOX (Top left drawer under sink in bathroom

12) FRENCH DOORS: Handles should point to left and be in horizontal position before pulling or sliding the door to the left to open, slide to right to shut.

13) FUSE BOX close to the door in case the fuse ever trips, just open the door by lifting the lid from the bottom, it will rotate upwards around the top hinge. All fuse boxes should be switched upwards, so any that trips will be switched down - switch up to activate that fuse.

14) GYM - There is a "Physique Gym" across the road and to the right at the corner for £10 (bring your own towel). You can use the E1 Spa in the basement that includes gym and swimming pool for £40, maximum 2 hours usage.

15) Hair Dryer - In one of the drawers under bathroom sink

16) HOBS: . Click on the small vertical line "!" just two places on the left from the "- +" near the bottom edge of the 3 hobs. 3 "0"s light up corresponding to the 3 hobs. Click on the small circle (corresponding to the hob) next to a "0" that you want to use. So the right corner "0" will correspond to the right top corner hob etc. If you then click on th "+" button, this will change the "0" to "9", "9" is the highest setting and then you can place a pot or frying pan on there. To decrease the temperature, click on "-" and this can decrement from 9 down to 0. If you click on "+" when you are on "9", this should reset the to "0". You can click on the small vertical line "!" to turn the oven off (or switch it off at the wall). If ever the key symbol is on and you cannot remove it, press on the key symbol for around 5 seconds, this should remove the key symbol.

17) IRON and IRONING BOARD - Either on floor of wardrobe (mirror sliding door) or on top of washing machine, right door to mirror door that opens normally

18) KEY ACCESS: Only remove one key from the lockbox and move the tumblers to lock the keysafe (even for couples). The second key is there for emergencies in case you ever lock your key inside the flat.

19) KEY RETURN: Return the key to the keysafe when you checkout and move a few of the tumblers to lock.

20) MAIN flat DOOR self-locks, make sure you have your ONE key with you before you exit the flat.

21) MICROWAVE: To operate the microwave, press on the ^ arrow bottom right to open the door, place your food inside and close the door. Then click on "M" (bottom right of the 12 possible key buttons on the middle right hand side). Click on 90 (defrosting food), 180 (defrosting and heating) or 360 (for heating). Turn the knob clockwise/anticlockwise to increase/decrease the time. The Start button on top left should be flashing, when you are happy with the settings, click "Start". Once finished, check if food is hot enough and if not, you can use the microwave again and increase or decrease the time.

22) OVEN: To turn the hobs on make sure the "Oven Switch" is on just to the right of the hobs. A red light should be on between the two knobs of the oven. 1808 oven might have a flashing LED (as this has not been set), 1807 will should output a time. The rest should be straightforward, the left knob sets the grill or the oven with heat from bottom or top or both with fan and the right knob is the temperature.

23) PARKING: Note that the price of the studio does not include parking. If you reach E1 before 5pm, you can speak to concierge as they sell nightly parking spots at £25 a night. If you are staying Friday night to Sunday night, it is free to park in the MOT centre a few minutes walk away heading to the beach and first right at the roundabout (heading to the sea away from E1), then first left then first right. Bank holiday Mondays is also free to park there too. Weekdays, can park from 4pm to midnight for free. There is also a multi-storey carpark on Devil Towers Road (heading towards Ocean Village and Town, just before the roundabout (where the first right takes you to airport and Spanish border. Some people park in La Linea and walk over the border too.

24) POWER CUT! Please check the fuse box close to the door to make sure all switches are in the "up" position (by lifting the flap from the bottom). Sometimes but rarely, a large part of Gibraltar experiences a power cut. The left elevator may take you down but if not, please use the stairs. You might also need to use the stairs to climb up (like I did once when this happened, if you like exercise this is great fun with a lot of huffing and puffing).

25) RESTAURANT- There is a Fresco restaurant downstairs that serves breakfasts up to 12 noon (vegan, vegetarian, full English), dinner menus, drinks etc.

26) SAFE: This is in the first sliding door on the left on top of the set of drawers. Enter any 4-digit code and press "Lock" to lock the safe door. Enter the same 4-digit to unlock the door. Please note I am not responsible if you forget the 4-digit code so it is safer if you don't use the safe. The studio is very secure!

27) SAVE ENERGY: If you exit the property for a length of time like at least one hour, please turn the Aircon, TV and lights off to save energy.

28) SMOKING in the flat is NOT allowed, you can smoke downstairs and outside (exit ground floor lifts and head right).

29) SPA - There is a spa, swimming pool and gym in the basement (lifts go to basement) at £40 for maximum 2 hours (pay at spa). You can also pay extra for a massage too!

30) TOURISM or SUSTAINABILITY TAX: Each guest pays a Tourism tax of £3.50 per night to the government. I will collect on your behalf and pass this to the government (this is mandatory in Gibraltar).

31) TV: To operate the TV, click on the power (red button) on the top left with the smaller remote control (this switches the TV on and off. Then click on the red power button on the larger remote control to switch on the TV box. The TV should be on now. You may have to play with the big remote that controls the TV box to access the right channel.
