Take it easy at this unique and rustic getaway. Vacation in a peaceful, serene, idyllic location in the remote village of Hedavi, Kokan. You get to enjoy the quirky architecture of a heritage home dating to the late 1800s - early 1900s. The first floor, added in 1942 has a vantage balcony. The layout oozes the period character of a classic Kokani home - Padvi's on all four sides, Oti, Mazghar, Devghar, Svaypakghar and a maze of interconnected rooms.

Fees paid help the conservation of heritage.

The space
The house is ideal for 4 adults (or two adults and 2 children or permutations).

NOTE: The price shown is for 4 people per night, for a close-knit family, two additional guests can be accommodated, however, this being an antiquated home, there is only one bathroom and one WC.

WiFi is complimentary but the remote location means we cannot guarantee this will work at all times.

Maintaining an old-period property is challenging and costly. We are not a corporate entity with funding. This is entirely a not-for-profit project with the sole aim of sustaining the heritage for future generations. We thank our guests for allowing us to play the host. Any fees paid will be used for the upkeep and improvements of this heritage home. Such homes are fast becoming extinct and your stay is a contribution to the cause of conservation of our heritage. We hence profoundly thank you for being part of this journey.

Please appreciate that there are steps around the house and the facility is not suited for wheelchair users or elderly and infirm. We apologise for this inconvenience.

An inverter is provided, but extensive outages or low voltage/fluctuations though rare can happen. Hot showers are not possible when this happens and the AC will not work during these times. Some rooms have ceiling fans and some wall fans due to the low height of the roof. We hope that the guests are open to an adventure and time away from the routine hassles of life including limiting their time on gadgets and online social media. We hope this allows for a retreat and a great bonding experience for you and the family.

The house is close to 2000 square feet and the pricing (including cleaning fees) reflects the basic amenities offered. It is not feasible to alter the architecture and period features to accommodate a lot of modern amenities like attached WC/showers for each room. The single WC and single shower room are thus located inside the house but on a different floor from the main bedrooms. The village had no electricity until the 1980s, 80-100 years ago, sleeping on the floor and sitting on the floor would be common practice - the ceiling height is low and hence we have wall fans in some rooms. These bedrooms have AC if need be. The forefathers made a vast number of windows and doors for ventilation. The unique low-set windows as far as we understand were designed to allow for maximum light reaching the floor where people would have sat for work on a low munim-desk, for eating, sitting, and sleeping.

A kettle for hot water and complimentary tea/coffee is provided but we do not offer Kitchen facilities at this time. However, the caretaker runs an excellent homely eatery which serves the needs of the guests - they will home deliver food if you request this.

Make this a moment about experiencing the old ways of simple living in a period property and not about five-star luxuries (for that there are plenty of other options). We thus humbly invite guests to be mindful of their needs, expectations and what is on offer.

Guests can roam around the house freely. However, only rooms that are furnished and open may be used.

Other things to note
Free parking is available on-site via a shared dirt track. Alternatively on street parking nearby is an option recommend during heavy rains. The property is only 5 min from Dashbhuja Ganesh and 10 min from Hedavi Beach. Several other local sights are in easy reach including the Navlai, Bhaman Gal, Velneshwar, Guhagar, Jaigad via Ferry and Ganapati Pule among others.

There are a handful of local restaurants or food outlets/shops. They come well recommended and should offer a variety of local cuisines.

Please adhere to the rules, especially no smoking, no alcohol and no non-veg food to be eaten on the premises.
