If you are departing Argentina by car I guess you have to pay the 21% tax. For everyone, they ask that you fill out a full page form with information that they already have (from Expedia, from your i.d. that they photocopy, from the email you forward, etc.). After refusing to do this, the front desk clerk finally acknowledged it was not necessary and asked that just the vehicle information be completed. To comply with the copious check-in procedure required two extra trips to the car, to get things, and took about half an hour. That's not the end of the world. However, if we had not been travelling with a laptop and all of our travel related documents (over and above those required by law) we may not have been able to check in at all.
