Pacific paradise is a great neighbouring restaurant but hot tip - don't order off the menu, ask the chef to make you whatever you want! We enjoyed walking to the local village and meeting quite a few locals as well as seeing their kindy and primary school. If you go to Fatboys take along some stuff for the school - coloured paper, texters, children's books - anything is gratefully received. It was great for our kids to see another way of living. You can also take a quick boat to Gizo to go to the local markets if you want to stock up on a few food items as the rooms have a fridge. There are lots of day trips you can take with one of the staff and the boat. We did the trip to Skull Island which was a highlight. Also there is great snorkelling of WW2 wrecks including a fighter plane thats easy to see from the waters surface. And a old fishing vessel. Kids loved seeing these. Our kids loved it and enjoyed lots of activity but also just mooching around playing on the pool table, collecting shells etc. We loved the fact that the wifi is patchy so kids are not on screens. Staff are delightful. Everyone is very warm and gentle We would love to go back!"

The windows are cheaper slat windows which means it can be a bit noisy in the room but, overall, again not too much of an issue. There's a great supermarket about fifteen minutes walk away at the Panatina Plaza. However, I am calling out the location details on the listing, which were very misleading: Honiara Central Market is absolutely not "11 minutes walk". It is nearly 6km and takes an hour or so to walk to. I walked once and got a public bus the next day. One of the reasons I booked here was because of the assertions about "What's nearby". Other claims about What's nearby were also misleading. Overall communication was fine and staff very friendly. On balance I was happy with my stay - but the 'what's nearby' listings should be updated on the hotels.com listing."
