WiFi and 3G?
There is a city wide open WiFi and coffees with WiFi everywhere. You will never need to pay for WiFi. Just ask somebody for the WiFi, and you will get it. Da Nang is a giant “free” WiFi hub. People will gladly help you to access the internet.
If you want you can get a prepaid SIM with more than 1GB of Data for around 9,- USD. Just let me know if your smartphone uses Nano, Micro or Standard SIMs, and I will organize one for you.

Getting Ripped Off?
The people of Da Nang are friendly, and there is no need to fear of getting ripped off on every corner. Coffee on the street corner or a Banh Mi goes for around 10.000VND. Getting a scooter refueled for 70.000 VND. If you need to buy little conveniences, you can visit small seven elevens like (Vinmart or K-Mart and even pay via credit card). In the rare situation that you get ripped off just call me.

Traffic Rules?
Don’t hit what’s in front of you. Never expect anything on four wheels to stop for you. Trucks always have the priority! Always expect a bike to come towards you and never take your eyes off the road. Make use of the horn. A short beep translates to “I am here, ” and you can use it 100 times a day. It's not considered aggressive to use the horn. Stick to these rules and make sure you test the brakes on every bike you jump on. Seriously, check the brakes and don’t expect them to work. If you need to rent a bike, I will help you organize one that is reliable and maintained.

Getting Approached by Vietnamese?
They like to greet you :) Vietnamese are curious about you and often like to take the opportunity to exercise the English they’ve learned. Just greet back and continue with what you do. Typically they will respect your privacy beyond that. Trust your instincts but don't be overly suspicious. You will also notice that Vietnamese treat beggars with ignorance and not aggressive. Do the same.

Giving a tip?
You are not expected to give tips in restaurant or taxis.

A different story is Spas. The staff is usually paid a very low base salary with tips making the majority of the salary. Even Vietnamese customers will give tips in Spas.
