Our hip new backpacker hostel near Manali, Zostel Vashisht brings indulgence to backpacking. This hostel comes with chic common spaces, breathtaking mountain views, and a unique choice of stays. The space
Located only 3 km from Manali, this hostel invites you to explore the popular and offbeat parts of Kullu and further on to Lahaul. Look forward to hiking escapades, nature walks, stargazing, and scenic rides to nearby villages on your laid-back holiday to Vashisht. While for adventurers, the region offers paragliding, river rafting, and trekking experiences in the summers. In comparison, winters bring a bounty of snowfall, enabling snow activities like skiing and snowboarding to Vashisht's vicinity.
Alongside spacious and comfy private rooms, you can opt for our special attic dorms and quadruple private rooms to elevate your experience.

Property Policies :

- Property is not accessible directly through your own private vehicle. You are required to walk 100m before reaching the property. Those coming by their own vehicle can park at the designated public government parking in the Vashisht town centre near the temple.
- We strictly DO NOT allow a group of more than 8 people. In case of a group of 4 or more, you might be purposefully allotted different dorm rooms. Further, if the group behavior is deemed unfit at the property, the Zostel Property Manager, upon subjective evaluation, retains the full right to take required action which may also result in an on-spot cancellation without refunds.
- Children below 18 years of age are not permitted entry/stay at any of our hostels, with or without guardians. We do not recommend families.
- Our standard check-in time is 1 PM and the standard check-out time is 10 AM.
- We only accept a government ID as valid identification proof. No local IDs shall be accepted at the time of check-in.
- Guests are not permitted to bring outsiders inside the hostel campus.

However if you are afraid of these creatures, our place might not suit you.
We thoroughly check the room before the guests check-in to ensure there are no insects. Please keep your room door closed during your stay.


The Rooms are minimalistic and Earthy. Made out of natural, locally sourced materials, the mud walls keep the room warm in winters & cool in summers. The rooms are planned to be compact and cozy yet functional.
All the rooms are connected by common verandah overlooking the stunning Mountains. There are power sockets with tables for each room making it a perfect spot to work, if you are on a workcation.

We want our home to be your home while you are visiting.
Guests will have full access to the property's common areas- the dining area, the common room, indoor & outdoor games etc. They are free to sit in the lawn, relax, walk around the property.
However, please note that the guests do not have access into the kitchen as we have a closed kitchen policy.

Directions to reach the property:
1. If you are travelling by local bus/Volvo, get off at the Jari taxi stand.
Option A : Hike for 800m (15 min) to reach the property.
Option B : Taxis are available at the drop point @ 150/-
2. If you are travelling by cab/car, please reach the pinned location on maps. You can spot a mud road that leads to the property (800m).
Please note that the road is quite steep at two particular locations.
We request you to call us when you arrive at the pinned location so we can direct you to the property safely.
In case of bad weather, the option of parking your vehicle at the pinned location and hiking/taxi to the property is advisable.

This is a tranquil destination where one can unwind and be close with nature.
Kindly avoid visiting here if you tend to love very loud music and are looking for a party place.

Please note that we have two friendly dogs in our property, if you are allergic to dogs or do not like them, our place might not be a good fit for you.

We request the guests to manage their own luggages as we do not provide luggage assistance.

Smoking inside the rooms & bathrooms are strictly not allowed. If smoking occurs during your stay, Rs. 1000 Cleaning fee will be billed to your account.

Offering a spectacular view of Himalayan glaciers and the majestic Sissu waterfall, Zostel Sissu is your key to exploring Himachal’s enchanting Lahaul region. The hostel introduces travellers to plenty of offbeat hikes, newfound adventures, and a culturally rich district that has a rather interesting lifestyle given its weather, history, and location.



Situated at only 40 km from Manali and now made accessible by the Atal Tunnel, Sissu is a riverside hamlet perched upon a highland, in a landscape that serves as a perfect introduction to Lahaul. With every season, this village changes its colours and moods—abundantly snowy winters make way for blooming springs, which pass the ball to incredibly gorgeous autumns. Furthermore, a lake, a waterfall, multiple glacier hikes, and spectacular mountain views make this region special. And for those of you who like to explore places at length, there is a collection of brilliant, underrated, and culturally rich places you’d like to journey through in Lahaul. But for that, you must first make it to the magical village of Sissu.

Other things to note
During Winters:

During the winter months, Sissu may not be accessible via local transport or private non-4x4 vehicle under extreme snow conditions. In such weather, we do not recommend travellers drive down to the hostel and strongly recommend that they hire a 4x4 vehicle either from Manali or by contacting the property prior to their arrival.

Moreover, please keep your booking confirmation at Zostel Sissu handy while making the journey from Manali to Sissu.

Important note for winter months and extreme weather conditions:

- Toilet usage: only shared washrooms with running water will be available; warm water can be ordered at fixed timings only.

- Power cuts may hinder your work so kindly carry power banks as well as hard cash.

- It’s extremely important to carry layers and clothing that works for -10º and below.

- In extreme snow conditions, please only rely on 4x4 vehicles as your mode of commute. If you’re coming by your own 4x4, please carry chains.

- Please make sure to stay in contact with the property while arriving and throughout your stay at Zostel Sissu when you step out, owing to administrative guidelines, impacted travel time and routes, etc.

- Finally, stay warm and hydrated; plan your trip with buffer days; stay updated with weather conditions, and follow all administrative guidelines.
