- "I had an excellent stay at Protea hotel. It was very comfortable and pleasant. The breakfast in the morning was very good. The room was very clean with a very comfortable bed. It was quiet at night so I was able to get some great sleep. The whole staff were awesome, extremely helpful and courteous. " - "This was my second time staying at Protea. It's a very clean and nice hotel. The rooms are very comfortable and quiet at night for some good rest. The only issue I had was with the breakfast. I told the staff person I would pay at checkout and within five minutes of me getting to my room she's calling me saying the system was down and if she could come and collect the payment at that time. I thought that was in poor taste because I still could've paid at checkout some four hours later. When I asked at the front desk if the systems were back up the person looked at me surprised and said oh yes, and I asked how long were they down, and she said oh just like an hour. I just don't believe that whole story. I think the lady at the breakfast area, wanted to get the payment thinking I would skip out on the bill, even though she asked me if I wanted to pay later. Anyway, I thought the whole thing was in poor taste, including waiting outside my room to make sure the payment went through. Overall it was a good one night stay. "

- "It is always a pleasure staying at the AVANI on business. Great food, service, staff and a lovely room to stay in with excellent AC. 5*." - "Above average experience" - "Comfortable one-night stay. The room was well furnished and in decent condition, though the AC was a bit tricky. Bathroom was very modern. The hotel has a nice decor,but some areas are showing signs of age. The pool area is nice and large, but could have been a but cleaner and needs new or more modern loungers and seating options. The food menu at the bar was limited, and the food was ok - not the best we had in Botswana, but not bad either. There was a DJ by the pool that was very loud (as seems to be typical in Botswana) but this finished at around 22:00 so did not disturb our sleep. There is no lift, but the staff did help by bringing our luggage up to our 1st floor room."

The breakfast was nice, but you hvaeto cross the carpark to go to the bar/restaurant... not a major hardship but not pleasant when it is raining. This was a short one-night stop for us as part of a bigger journey, so the hotel served it's purpose."

- "Check in was really messy. We arrived a bit early, but they used around 15min just to find our bookings, then they used another 10min to find out if some rooms where ready, in the end we just left to go for lunch another place to give them time to sort out some rooms. When we came back 1h45min later they had still not found us some rooms. Took another 20mins for them to check us in! By which time we had just 10mins for the 3 of us to get a shower and go to the airport to do the helicopter trip we had booked. Otherwise hotel was good, just that it was really noisy when people talked outside rooms."
