- "This is a basic hotel that is clean and provides wifi and good bathroom facilities. It is located in the Hanau downtown area and provides good access to that area. It did not offer breakfast nor any means to make coffee in the room. That meant an early morning trip to the streets each day to find a wake-up cup of coffee. This was our only lodging experience during a 27 day trip to Europe where coffee was not anywhere to be had in the hotel. The other thing that was unique was that there was no air-conditioning which necessitated keeping the window open to the very loud surroundings. The neighborhood is a bit sketchy, but that seems to be the norm for downtown Hanau these days. We have family in that city and we've stayed in downtown Hanau twice. Both times we were disappointed with the hotel, but we've concluded that it's more the sorry state of the Hanauer Innenstadt than the hotels themselves. Next time we stay somewhere else. "

- "Easy contact Hanau" - "What I enjoyed most was the very helpful staff. I was able to speak both English and german with several of the staff. I could tell that they were fluent in more than just these two languages. The staff was always helpful, knowledgable, courteous, professional and welcoming!!! Restaurants, grocery stores, specialty stores, everything you could think of is in walking distance ! I have traveled all of my life since very young. - "Hotel Brunnenhof is quiet and clean and provided everything I needed for a week-long stay. Abdullah, who takes care of the housekeeping duties, was fantastic. My room had a small porch leading out into the back yard, where there is a picnic area. One crucial point: The English-language description of the hotel on Expedia has not been updated since the pandemic, and it needs to be. The hotel is now run in a (mostly) contact-free manner and no longer provides breakfast. In order to get into the hotel, you will need to phone the staff to get a code, which you enter into a lockbox in order to get your key. The instructions outside the hotel door are exclusively in German, which was fine for me (I speak German well) but may confuse other foreign guests. I do not have international roaming on my phone, and I made the mistake of going to the hotel first before buying a SIM card—which led to some comedy when I discovered I had to phone the hotel in order to get my key! (A local café owner helped out—I highly recommend the Eiscafé am Obertor.) If you are in a similar situation, get your SIM card before you go to the hotel. Once I actually got into the hotel, the week I spent there was pretty much flawless."

- "." - "This is a discount hotel, and for those purposes it is very good. if you sleep with the window open, the traffic noise is quite loud, but being from the city, it did not bother me much. Notes for American tourists. You must contact the hotel in order to check in, and when they say 3 PM check-in, it means 3 PM. There is no staff on site for the most part, but get in contact with the hotel ahead of time and you will be fine. The host was kind enough to give us an extra hour to check out, and the room is absolutely serviceable. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, and the shower is comically small. The walk from the train station is about 1 km, but the area is so beautiful. You probably will not mind."

- "The hotel is new and roomy. But that’s it. The bathroom is huge but doesn’t have a place for putting stuff (just a pedestal vanity), not even a convenient toilet paper hanger.
