So if you want to have a sleep in it’s perfect! The air conditioning is not that great. Can only go down up to 22.5 and cannot do anything about it. The safe in room 401 was tiny but the 423 safe was big enough to fit my laptop. It is not soundproofed rooms. I can still hear the people outside my room. The breakfast was good. A lot of choices. But it would have been nice if there are hot food included in the buffet like scrambled eggs(need to pay extra), sausages etc. But still it was a good spread. All in all the had a great time staying in this hotel. Definitely recommend toom 401 if you want a spectacular view of the sea and Athena! Thank you Grand Hotel Excelsior for a wonderful experience. Hope the next time I come back the air conditioning will be able to go down to 16 degrees😄"

Bread was fresh and lemon veal was wonderfully tender (though a little sour for my husbands tastes). My chicken very good, also. We had 1 appetizer, 2 salads, 2 entrees, 1 small bottle white wine and 2 mixed beverage for only E52. I didn't think that was too bad! Our room was very large and clean, though the shower was kind of small. Plenty of clean towels and linens. The bed was comfortable. It was nicely decorated. The air conditioner worked well and was quiet. We had free wifi. We needed a charger for our phone, and the lady at the desk let us borrow one. Luckily it worked, since they are on 220v and our phone was 110v."

- "We stayed here for 4 nights/3 days as a mother-daughter trip. Hotel had good amenities, lovely pool area with lots of sun loungers and waking through the apartments you are the beautiful private beach (cost €6 a day to hire a lounger). Staff were great, so friendly and couldn’t do enough to help. Everyone said hello and particularly shout out the the two ladies on reception who went out their way to book us train tickets, arrange taxis to/from airport (including a refund after being overcharged - should be €35 each way). We had a standard twin room. Enough space for us and appreciates the fridge, tv and balcony. Air con was noisy so didn’t tend to use it, but was good for what we needed. Nice view of the town and could see the sea and the mountains. The room comes with some many complimentary toiletries, inc razor and cream, shampoo, shower gels and toothbrush/toothpaste, which was more than standard so was very impressed. Breakfast was a buffet. No hot food. Just breads, cereals, cakes, pastries etc Great location to explore the Reggio Calabria area without a car (train station is a 10 min walk) so we took a day trip to Scilla and Messina. Hotel and general area were very quiet, could be as we came to end of season so there is only really 1-2 places to eat. We ate in the restaurant one night, good food but the servers were preoccupied with a private function so they never asked if we wanted drinks or dessert. The cafe at the lido was good value and tasty panins. "

Set high on a hill it is in a very quiet and away from it all area.
