Lots of historical areas in close vicinity, WWII and Cyclone aftermath. As for the hotel room, it was quiet even though 2 floors down there was a lot of activity in the waterfront with bars and restaurants. Room was a nice size. TV had basic free to air channels. A few issues: bedding was not changed after we spilt some coffee! and mini bar and coffee was not restocked the next day! However there is a Mini Mart across the way that stayed open till midnight so we just went there for our supplies. There is a wave pool downstairs ($9.00 entry for adults) that was nice and warm which is nice coming from Perth where every pool is quite chilly."
