- "My experience at Nuhnental was very good. The staff is very attentive. Rooms are cozy and the fact there’s sauna and a swimming pool is a real bonus. All the facilities appeared to be recently renovated. Location is unbeatable. " - "Very limited parking and in noisy area" - "The hotel is nice but I had a terrible experience as a customer. I had a reservation from 22/02 until 24/02. I had to arrive late at the hotel due to personal reasons and I had not seen that I had to call in advance so that they can prepare a late arrival. The check-in time limit was 18:00 and I called them around 21:30 to ask if the restaurant was still open, and to my surprise they told me that not only the restaurant was closed, but so was the hotel. They also told me that 1) it was not possible to open it because there was nobody there; 2) I had to find another place to stay that night and 3) it would be out of my own pocket. I told the lady that I had a child with me, and she just said to me: "this is not my problem". After further discussions she was able to provide a room for that night in another hotel just across the street. She also told me that it was not possible to get my original room that night because it had been already sold to somebody else. What really amazes me is why they did not call me to ask if I was going to arrive late, given that I was not there before 18:00. They simply did nothing and sold my room to another person. If they had not done that, we could make an arrangement to get the keys for the apartment, or even they could have left it hidden somewhere, but of course this was not possible as the room was occupied. "

The space
Single room, approx. 14 - 20 m² bed 1.40 wide, sitting area, shower/WC, satellite TV, flat screen, direct dial telephone, Wi-Fi, outdoor thermometer, shelf for hiking shoes


Of course, at the very top, on the southern slope of Kahlen Asten, directly on the Rothaarsteig and on the Hochsauerland Höhenstraße, is our small country inn. We have maintained warm hospitality for over 160 years. The restaurant serves you regional dishes from local farmers. In 2015, we reached the grade 1.43 at the Westfälische Gastronomiepreis.

The hiking trails start at the front door. As a founding member of the Sauerland hiking inns, we are among the hiking professionals in the Sauerland. As a certified hiking guide, we will give you the best tips. For your winter hike, you can rent snowshoes and sleds here in the house. Bobbahn and bike park with adventure bridge are 5 km away. The Langewiese ski resort is within walking distance. The Postwiese ski resort is only 2 km away, 5 km you have an entrance to the ski carousel Winterberg. 

Our panoramic wellness area with combined Finnish/bio sauna, a hydrosoft wellness sauna, a massage room for medical or wellness massages, a relaxation room and a roof terrace is completely new.

The space
Upon arrival from 18 hours you will be greeted by the manager and guided to your room. If you arrive earlier (possible from 3 p.m.), the key will be ready for you. The manager will come to your place after 6 p.m.
Bed linen and towels are provided in your room.

Upon departure, we only ask you to remove your bedding. Final cleaning is provided, which is included.

On the 3rd and 4th floors of the Gästehaus, there is a roof terrace with tables and chairs, on the 1st floor, there is a swimming pool, and on the 2nd floor, there is a billiards and recreation room with a screen where you can spend cozy and relaxing hours. These spaces are available free of charge for all guests.

Other things to note
Included in the price is bed linen, 2 towels per person and final cleaning.
Tourist tax is €1.75 per person per night and is not included in the price.

Our Gästehaus has 3 floors. On the 2nd and 3rd floor are the 2-person rooms. On which floor and wing you end up, it depends on whether there are also wings rented by a group. These are then not available.
A kettle, cups, fridge and freezer are available free of charge in the shared kitchen.

If you come with 1 child up to 6 years old, it is possible to get a travel cot from us or bring your own air mattress that you can put in the room. There are no additional fees for this.
