- "Worth every penny!" - "Had a lovely stay at Bernardus once again! Nice, cozy and accommodating rooms made a nice relaxing stay. We went to the spa one day and all the services were lovely. We also ate at the restaurant and bar and had some great meals. Overall, staff was friendly and we enjoyed our visit. Only small nit would be that during our stay there seemed to be quite a bit of younger children (4-6 year olds) and they were running around quite a bit during the morning & day. It didn't bother us but I did notice there was more noise as they were joyfully going about. Didn't recall this from our first stay but guess it just depends on when you are there."

Set among the hills in a very quiet neighborhood in beautiful Carmel Valley, is our very private and separate cottage WITH A QUEEN BED. Just over 500 sq. ft. with 2 private outdoor decks overlooking the hills of the valley, our cottage is only 1 1/4 miles to Carmel Valley Village's center which is bursting with an impressive array of quality restaurants, wine tasting rooms, art galleries and beautiful boutique shops.
A 20-minute drive down a lovely country road brings you to Carmel-by- the- Sea, considered to be one of the most lovely villages and beaches in the entire world. Just a bit further is Monterey Bay Sanctuary and Monterey Bay Aquarium, also considered to be one of the best aquariums in the world. Big Sur is no more than a 1-hour drive south on beautiful Highway 1. Other nearby attractions include Pebble Beach Golf Resort, Pt. Lobos State Reserve, and Monterey Fisherman's Wharf as well as John Steinbeck's historic Cannery Row.
- "Awesome views - great get-away from hectic traffic and congestion yet close to everything we wanted to see and do. Would stay here again in a heart beat. Exceeded our expectations." - "It is as cut as the pictures. There is a car port available to use to keep car in shade Keurig style coffee machine available. View is amazing." - "This cottage attached to the owners house is like a stay in a hotel room that has a small cooking area as well. Great views, very quiet, nice queen bed. It does have a small stove but no dishwasher and no disposal etc. But, with all the nice places to eat in Monterey, Carmel, and in Carmel Valley, who would want to cook. Minor issues were the can opener was broken and did not work and there were no extra light bulbs in the unit. Still, I rate the location, unit, view and quiet as equaling 5 stars."

This beautifully maintained five-bedroom home, 3 bath home, with additional large bonus king loft, is a lovely Carmel Valley retreat (total of seven beds {just added a daybed}). It is beautifully furnished, and the kitchen area makes it nice for intimate family gatherings with casual dining. The kitchen is well-equipped with special touches. There is also a formal living/dining area. While the house is spacious, smaller groups enjoy it as well and please ask about lesser stays, last minute, etc. The main floor has kitchen with dining area, four of the five bedrooms, three bathrooms, formal dining room and game nook (with poker table, games, etc.). The bedrooms all have separate entrances and bathrooms are near to all! The 'bonus' loft is a large, spacious upstairs room with comfy king-size bed and seating. If you are a group of singles, ask owner about additional accommodations so that each has their own bed. The house overlooks beautiful Carmel Valley hills and is close to the Village and many weddings destination sites. It is a short hop to Monterey/Pebble/Carmel/Pacific Grove/Big Sur, etc. Relax on the patio and sip a glass of wine while watching the sunset. The fog may roll in, but usually stops short of the Village. The house is nicely set up for three king bedrooms, one of which is 400 s.f. Each with its own entrance, and two queen-size rooms (bedroom and office, plus bonus loft king). Or, come as a couple, and enjoy the house with the 400 s.f. master with flat screen with seating for sipping wine and watching the northern views (ask for pricing). You will most likely see the wild turkeys and deer as well! The nightly fee fluctuates dependent upon time of year, availability, wedding season, events, etc. Because of Monterey County permitting requirements, the home does have a 31 night minimum stay. Please do talk to owner about any last-minute requests. We limit the number of guests to no more than 10, in keeping with county ordinances and in consideration of our neighbors. The downstairs queen room also has its own family room and flat screen television. There are a total of three flat screen televisions, cable, and wireless internet. Formal living room and dining room, and game/poker table, which can be converted to office space. Spacious outside patio and BBQ.
We are in a family-type neighborhood and do not allow events at the property or shuttle buses (our street is too narrow). Uber/Lyft is available. The kitchen is "hang out" friendly with casual table and seating/family room area. It is easy to make day trips to Big Sur, Pebble Beach, Monterey, Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, and just about anywhere else on the Peninsula. Always contact owners for variations on daily stay requirements, etc. Special pricing for off-season stays. We are a stone's throw to Holman Ranch and other wedding venues. If you are looking for a longer stay, please do contact owner for special pricing.
In accordance with County of Monterey permit regulations, our minimum night stay is thirty one days and our pricing has recently been modified to reflect this change.

A short walk to a clearing with Mountain views you will find 4 Adirondack chairs grouped around a propane fire pit for storytelling and stargazing. It's cozy in the winter with its wood burning stove and gas fireplace & fun in summer with a sun-scaped deck to hang out on warm summer nights! In the cozy winter season, we have fire roaring in the woodburning stove for you upon your arrival!
This property has over 350 five star reviews on the other major site.
There is a large deck off the living room with a fancy fire pit and stand up handmade wood bar next to a gas bbq. There are darts for your amusement and a gas firepit to hang out and drink wine or have coffee near. Heat lamps are available on the deck for any chilly nights.
Big screen TV is located in one of the living rooms with a wood burning stove and an uber comfy couch. The drawers under the TV are STOCKED FULL of DVDs and there are retro Atari and Space Invaders gaming systems! Old School! We even just recently upgraded to Starlink Satellite so the internet is lightning fast.
In the second living room is another large comfy couch and a gas fireplace for ambiance with more spectacular valley views. The master has an en-suite with dual shower heads - and yes a view from the shower - and a door out to the deck. The back three bedrooms are spacious and well appointed with views and two of the rooms have access to a private deck. The yellow room - as we call it - is full of board games for any player. Two of the three bathrooms are newly remodeled and the other has a tub for a soak. Bathrooms are all stocked for your needs with cotton balls, Q-tips, towels, shampoo, lotion, face wipes, etc. All beds have down comforters, electric blankets, and comfy mattresses. The comforter covers are all Belgian flax linen to make you feel well taken care of and special.
The kitchen is stocked with all you need - all the dishes, pots and pans, wine glasses, double oven, gas stove, microwave, coffee maker, french press, blender, tea kettle....and a little extra like tea, coffee, popcorn, condiments and spices. There is even a fully charged boom so you can play your tunes!
Out back is a smoker and charcoal BBQ with benches and camping chairs for marsh-mellow roasting. Many reports of a deer family that wanders the property to further entertain and our lone Ferrel kitty may come say hello.
Like to hike? You can hike up the hill right out of your driveway or head down the hill into the park for a hike to the waterfall trail as this property borders Garland Park in Carmel Valley. When the rain is flowing, so is the waterfall! Spectacular!
In Carmel Valley Village, which is a 7 min down the hill from the house or 2.5 mile walk, are many restaurants and wine tasting rooms. You can park and walk from one end to the other or end up at a kid friendly park. We have a sushi restaurant in town that just knocks it out of the park or Plaza Linda for excellent Mexican food. There is even Thai food that will wow you for sure. If you just want standard American fare, try Trailside. The Running Iron is our local bar with good burgers. Have time to fancy it up? About 10 minutes away is Bernardus Lodge which has some of the best mixologists on the entire peninsula. And peppered everywhere in Carmel Valley village are tons of wine tasting rooms.
This house is in Carmel Valley. Of course you are 20 minutes from Carmel by the sea, 25 to Monterey and the same to pebble beach. If you want a spectacular hour drive along breathtaking hwy 1, head to Big Sur.
We take great pride in making you feel welcome and ensure you have what you need. We truly welcome you to our home and hope that you enjoy making memories there. We are available during your stay if you need anything - just a message or call away.
**This house is not a typical city house where you can walk to 711 or order uber eats or set the heater to 80 degrees 24 hours a day. Instead, its a cozy woodburning cabin with baskets of DVDs, comfortable couches, and a closet full of board games with views to die for. This is a place to make and enjoy amazing home cooked meals and memories with loved ones. You will enjoy the home if its right for you. Main heater source is the woodburning stove (wood provided) with heater as a backup and to takeoff the edge while the stove does it’s magic. In the summer, its shorts on the deck with wine time! There are no curtains so unless you want to wake up with the sun use one of the sleep eye covers provided. Time to unplug and relax!"
Firm rule: 7 people max. There are beds for only 7 and sleeping on the couch is not allowed. Absolutely no pets. If you have a service animal the deposit is $3000 as that is what it will take to refinish the hardwood floors after claw scratches.
Owner will be on property as required by Monterey county. Please call for details. 831xxx917yyy3835…
- "Per my granddaughter…the best place we’ve ever stayed. Comfortable and cozy. A little eerie getting there…but once there, super private, quit, lots of wildlife and a very unique cabin. Enjoyed!" - "We had a lovely stay for a girls weekend! The property is so beautiful and we loved all the windows and views. The fire places kept things so cozy and the kitchen was well stocked for our cooking needs. We would definitely stay here again!" - "Wonderful long weekend with the family. Very relaxing atmosphere."

- "Great mountain view" - "Beautiful house in a great location to enjoy Carmel Valley." - "Nice floor plan and lovely setting." - "Clean, comfortable, well-appointed house in a quiet secluded neighborhood. second stay here, will be back for a third" - "Very clean! The house has everything. The coffee was old, but we bought our own. The backyard and fence need work. The cleaning lady showed up before our checkout time. She opened the gate without informing us that she was there, which we consider "trespassing" while we are renting the home. The dogs could have been outside, and that is not a good scenario. Overall, the owners have done a great job in remodeling the house. But I do encourage them to maintain the yard a bit better. It kind of ruins the experience to have the yard look the way it does. But the view is breathtaking! And the drive to get there is soothing. I would go back again. Hopefully the weather is nicer next time. Thank you!"

- "This is really a great spot. Home is great and location is amazing. Cannot wait to come back in the summer. Only thing that wasn’t perfect: there isn’t a door between the master bed and bath. Maybe a heavy curtain or something across? But honestly, we would move here if we could afford it! Oh and for those with neck/back issues, I always try to give bed ratings as I’ve had multiple back surgeries. Master bed is great! No hesitation to stay longer. And the town is cool as well. Had a great meal at Trinity Cafe. Martin is super nice and food was good."

- "This little guest house is perfect for 2 people and possibly 1 child. The bed is comfortable and the snacks were a nice touch. If I only had one suggestion it would be sweep for spiders, or add some extra weather stripping. There were a lot of spiders, but it is in the country." - "My wife and I spent 3 nights here, and it was perfect for us. It is a very quiet and cozy studio with good access to the Monterey peninsula, as well as the charming Carmel Valley. We ate breakfast in, so we appreciated the mini-fridge, coffee maker, hot plate and microwave. The basket of treats was nice touch, too. We had a good experience here."

Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway and off-grid space. Prepare to enjoy a scenic drive through the Carmel-Valley vineyards as you escape up to the mountain. You will be surrounded by mountains and trees in the heart of Los Padres National Forrest.
This space is great for a quiet weekend away from the city, from which you can explore Carmel Valley, Monterey and other local spots, or a peaceful artist retreat.
This is a guest studio up in Los Padres National Forest. The main home sits 30 ft above this space and may be occupied during your stay.
You have private access to the deck and spa that sit below the tree house which are for your exclusive use.
Guests have access to the deck and hot tub that sit below this home. There is NO POOL access or any areas above the this home.
-Make sure to bring all your needed groceries and beverages as you are a 15-20 minute drive from Carmel Valley Village and there are no grocery stores nearby. I provide basics like salt, pepper, olive oil, sugar, creamer and Keurig coffee pods.
-Guests will have no cell service on our property but you can connect to wifi to enable wifi calling and text messaging.
-WIFI: is good for text and emails. Do not expect to be able to download movies very fast or other data. Do not expect to work fully from your computers--expect to unwind and relax. If you need to work, I recommend driving down to the village and hooking up to faster wifi at a coffee shop. For now, satellite internet is the fasters option up here. I am waiting for Star Link to release its new satellite internet so that I can subscribe.
-I have ATT and can receive phone calls at the entrance of the home and on the other side of the pool by the shed.
-GPS will take you past our entrance because our location is not accurately marked. Please follow my picture check-in instructions.
-Our property is 8 miles (15-20 minutes) from Carmel Valley Village. The drive is on narrow, winding country roads which are dark at night. Plan to arrive during daylight if it is your first time at the property. Please do not plan to travel into town to restaurants or weddings for heavy drinking and expect to drive back to the home safely. Drive safely and use pull out spots to pull over if locals are driving faster behind you.
***ALTERNATIVE route: keep driving on Carmel Valley Rd toward Tassajara Rd and then onto Cachagua Rd.
-Bring your camera to snap some nature shots, or better yet, just be in the moment.
-My gardener will be on-sight to do grounds maintenance every Thursday, his name is Chevo!
-The main home up above may be occupied during your stay.
- "Overall great property, amenities, and views. Would recommend to other guests. Only feedback was that the treehouse was a little difficult to find after parking, we weren’t sure if it was through the shed or if we had to walk past the white gas tank but we figured it out after a little searching" - "If you are looking for a place to get away, this is definitely the place! Beautiful drive up there! Beautiful views 🙌" - "If you are into adventure this property delivers. It’s certainly rustic, but it’s comfortable. Set up high on the side of a hill it provides beautiful views of the Carmel Valley. The property is 40 minutes from Carmel-by-the-sea and I wouldn’t suggest driving to it at night as there’s a windy road with altitude to get to it. We enjoyed the stay and would recommend to others if you are in to adventure."

- "Perfect two person stay away for the busy world. About 45min outside of Monterey. 20 minutes from a small town with gas, local marketplaces, and food! The spa was a perfect touch with an amazing view of the valley!" - "We had a fantastic one night stay at this property. The kitchen was well stoked with everything we needed. The spa was a great feature. Nice and quiet place to switch off" - "Safe and quiet place to get away " - "Once we got there we enjoyed the solitude and peace of this beautiful neighborhood. But I have to admit that we were surprised by how how far out it was from Carmel Valley road. We drove up a windy country road for almost 6 miles and it took 20-25 minutes due to taking it slowly and watching out for other cars and deer. Again, it was beautiful, but it was a long drive for us. I wish the location map in the app was more accurate. We slept to the sounds of nature very comfortably. The bed is nice and comfy. The kitchen is pretty amazing for an RV. I appreciated the assortment of sharp knives. A rarity in a rental. The hot tub is a big plus. The first night it was lukewarm but it heated up for the next 2 nights. The power went out a couple times and the hot tub shut down. This problem resolved within an hour. The shower works well but I really disliked the sewer smell rising up from the drain. And the remote on the TV did not work after the 1st night. I let the host know but nothing wss done to resolve this. "

It offers privacy, quiet and a beautiful view of the Santa Lucia mountains. A very large front deck is available for hanging out in the shade of our 70' tall Sycamore trees. The primary bedroom has a super comfy king-sized bed with a gel foam topper. It is heavenly. Black out blinds allow for sleeping in. The second bedroom has a brand new super comfy, firm, queen-sized bed with a gel foam topper. A completely remodeled bathroom has a tub and shower with a separate W/C room and an enormous LG washer and dryer. The kitchen is a true galley kitchen, very small. It has all you need to prepare meals and snacks for your visit, with just added quartzite countertops and an undermount sink.
- "This is a wonderful home if you want a quiet and clean stay. The beds are really comfortable too and rooms have shades that block the light, so you can sleep in if needed. The instructions book was clear and helpful. It was a great stay for me and my friend! Aloha." - "Comfortable beds, serene setting in a great neighborhood which is in the center of town near all it has to offer. Highly recommend!" - "The cottage was clean, organized and close to downtown. Perfect for my family. Thank you. "

The space
This 'tiny house' is a 400 sf mobile cabin with all the comforts of home on a remote 20 acre property with spectacular views, lavender fields, oak woodlands and a seasonal creek.
Electricity is provided entirely by the sun from a 2k watt solar array with battery and back-up for nights and cloudy days. Water is provided to the tiny house from a private well. Hot water, the furnace and the stove and oven are supplied by propane. There is a window AC unit that can be run during daylight hours, and 2 ceiling fans and 2 portable fans for hot days.
Take the opportunity to unplug from your screens and TV and connect with each other, paint, write, read, relax and explore. No Wi-Fi or TV or Verizon cell service. There is AT&T cell service at the property along with some other smaller carriers.
The full kitchen comes complete with stove and oven, a microwave, refrigerator, pots and pans, plates, glasses and flatware as well as a toaster and coffee maker. Up the hill, at the end of the road, my home is modest and quiet. I am close to the coast and away from the fog.
Stars, bright sunshine and coastal breezes are common everyday.
I am 15 minutes from the coast. I live up the Carmel River Canyon from Carmel-By-The-Sea.
Carmel Valley is a kind, quiet respite from the busier Coast 1 vibes.

Dramatic views of the Santa Lucia Mountains here in Carmel Valley. Close enough to access everything we love, and also on a quiet mountainside away from traffic.

Privacy, beautiful gardens and wine country atmosphere all conspire to make this getaway a place to recharge and relax.
The space
The guest house is located about three minutes from Carmel Valley Village, 10 minutes from Laguna Seca Race Track and 15 minutes from Carmel-by-the-Sea. It is a separate structure with bedroom, bathroom, living room and kitchen/dining area. Fully equipped, the apartment features a heated floor in the marble-tiled bathroom, extra large soaking tub and walk-in shower, king size bed, robes, dimmable lights throughout and an entertainment center and Wi-Fi connection via cable. Both Netflix and Amazon channels are included. A private stone deck is right outside your door and a sun deck steps away. A swimming pool(Not Heated) is also on the property. Climbing roses, lavender field, wisteria and many other flowers adorn the property. A Bocce court with balls for both bocce and petanque (boules) completes the property’s amenities. We have some road noise, although most people are not bothered by the traffic.
Wine tasting and Restaurants
The Monterey Peninsula is known for a very wide selection of good to very good restaurants and dozens of tasting rooms featuring wines and olive oils made locally and in nearby wine growing regions of California. There are about 20 tasting rooms just up the road in Carmel Valley Village and more in downtown Carmel. There are also several notable restaurants nearby.
Sport Activities
The signature sport of the Monterey Peninsula is golf. Some 16 golf courses await, among them the famous courses of Pebble Beach including Pebble Beach, Spyglass Hill, Poppy Hills and Spanish Bay, all accessible to the public. Many other challenging and scenic courses are also available – Bayonet and Black Horse, Quail Lodge, Del Monte, Laguna Seca, Carmel Valley Ranch, Pasadera and Corral de Tierra are all within about a 20 minute drive from the guest house.
Other sport activities are available throughout the peninsula. There are several scenic hiking trails within a short distance. The entrance to Garland Ranch, with miles of scenic trails, is just one mile from the guest house. Bicycling is everywhere on all the local roads. Whale watching, scuba diving and kayaking on Monterey Bay are popular aquatic activities and the Monterey Bay Aquarium is a must-see attraction.
Shopping
Carmel-by-the-Sea is shopping central, specializing in art from both local and international artists, with clothing stores, many specialty stores and dozens of restaurants. Del Monte Center in Monterey features a number of national brand stores as well as a multiplex theater and several restaurants. The Barnyard and Crossroads shopping areas, both at the mouth of the valley, are about 10-15 minutes from the guest house.
Special Events
As a vacation destination, Monterey is also host to a large number of special events every year. The annual AT&T golf tournament always attracts top players and the US Open is played periodically at the Pebble Beach venues. The Monterey Jazz Festival, the motorcycle Gathering at Quail Lodge and several other festivals take place throughout the year. The Big Sur Marathon attracts some of the best runners in the world. Possibly the best known event is the Pebble Beach Concourse D ’Elegance and auction. Through the years so many other car events have been added at venues around the Peninsula that locals now speak of “car week,” which features some six or seven important auctions, specialized single-make car shows and the Historic Races at Laguna Seca featuring the beautiful race cars of the post-war era.
