Bob and Barb are gracious, responsive, respectful, helpful hosts. An experience we’ll be talking about for years to come." - "Fantastic stay. The property was exactly as portrayed in VRBO. Cozy and warm, designed with nature in mind and a contemporary sensibility, Nature House is all about comfort and connection to the surrounding landscape. Breathe deep and enjoy!
Please note: It is very important to me that your stay is comfortable, so there are a few things I'd like you to know:
The driveway is steep and it's dirt, but easily accessible Spring through Fall in most vehicles. 4WD/AWD, GOOD TIRES, AND A SOLID SENSE OF ADVENTURE ARE A MUST DURING WINTER CONDITIONS (which can start as early as October and last through March.) While I do my very best to make sure the driveway is clear and the house is accessible, there are times when Mother Nature will win the battle. Many guests have parked at the landing area halfway up and have enjoyed hiking in the second half (a few hundred yards). Or, you may have to park on the side of the road at the bottom of the hill and hike in a bit further. Gotta love Montana. ;-)
There is a short, steep uphill walk (takes about a minute) on a trail from the parking area to the house. There is a short staircase to the bathroom and a full staircase to the loft.
Television apps include Netflix and Pandora. You may access other apps with your own account.
The sauna is available September 1st - June 30th. The sauna is closed July and August.
Nature House is the perfect place for solo travelers and couples, but can accommodate up to 4 people. While I adore young children, Nature House is really the ultimate "grown up" and children are not allowed.
- "This house was so perfect. It was not right on the lake, but still had great views. It was quiet, clean, and decorated to create a calming ambiance. The luxurious shower and tub made us feel very spoiled. And it had the best stocked kitchen that I have ever experienced in a rental property (knives, cutting boards, pots, pans, TONS of spices, and stocked with several snacks). The host did an amazing job putting together a space that felt rejuvenating and relaxing. State park is down the road and allowed us to enjoy the lake. Multiple restaurants close by. Tons of cherry orchards and stands. So it is peaceful, but has many options for eating and activities nearby. I would not hesitate to stay again!"

Located 12 min. from Polson this little lake house is all about the water. Each bedroom has lake view windows offering a wonderful breeze and sounds of the lake. We have a washer and dryer and the kitchen is very well equipped. The dining table has an expandable leaf for larger groups but you probably won't use it because you will be on the deck enjoying the awesome view as you grill out. The house is small but more than adequate. It was completely remodeled in spring of 2015. The deck is enormous, the dock is gigantic and the boat house is just awesome with a commercial sized sauna to cook yourself in before you leap into the lake. there is also a kitchenette so you can entertain all day next to the lake. There are 2 adult kayaks, 2 kids kayaks, multiple snorkel sets and 2 stand up paddle boards available at no extra charge, just be sure they are put away safely after each use to keep them from blowing away if the wind picks up. There is parking for your boat at the dock while your present and a mooring buoy for unattended parking and at night. do not attempt to use the dock during rough water, it will result in damage to your boat.
This property is all about the water and having fun with your family. Safety bay is deep and generally very calm hence the name. The perfect setting for enjoying the lake from the dock lounge chairs.
- "Jeff’s place was clean, super cozy and easy. Fantastic place for two couples for our long weekend. They communicated well with any questions we had. The boathouse and lakeside toys were easy to access. The sauna was also terrific. Loved our stay." - "Stayed here for a week, will 100% be back. SUPs and kayaks provided were amazing to use. Tucked away in a quiet bay with friendly neighbors, great patio to have meals and the dock is the perfect hang out area. The house is comfortable, updated and clean. Wish we could have stayed longer."

Hardwood floors, stained concrete, large windows over looking the lake, and an open floor plan.

There was easy access to the water, the location on the peninsula was quiet and relaxing, and the view from the deck was worth the 20 hour drive from California!!! Special thanks to Northwest Travel Magazine for naming us 'One of the Northwest's Best Waterfront Vacation Rentals'. And to Tesla for featuring our house in their campaign and providing us with an electric car charger for guests who would like one. Our home resides on Finley Point facing Skidoo Bay with views of the beautiful Mission Mountains. Just a few steps beyond the stone steps of the house is the lake shore, you’ll see the sun rise each morning over the mountains.
Our home is a newly constructed craftsman style home with architectural inspiration from Greene and Greene. Rock and stone prevail inside and out.
In the winter, radiant heat throughout the house keeps the wood and stone floors warm to the touch. The great room features a 20’ rock fireplace and there is an outdoor courtyard with a fireplace for year round use. NEW 2025 - Air conditioning. (Mini-splits)
Autumn, described lovingly by the locals, brings incredible beauty and solitude. Picture yourself sitting on the Adirondack chair with a steaming cup of coffee watching the loons skim the lake. Or take your kayak out for a scenic view on the calm lake.
Winter on the lake is surprisingly mild yet offers two ski areas to choose from. Winter is the perfect time to enjoy the snow recreation options or to just get a fire going, curl up on the leather sofa in the library and read one of the 1,000+ books offered in the house. Or enjoy a fire in the outdoor fireplace, bring your hot chocolate outside and watch the stars.
The house is configured for privacy with the master wing separated from the guest wing by the kitchen, dining, great room, and library. The master suite has a queen size bed. French doors swing open to the outdoor courtyard and fireplace. The master suite bathroom amenities include a double walk-in shower, Japanese soaker tub, double sinks, and a washer and dryer. The guest wing has three bedrooms and a laundry room. A large bedroom faces the lake with a queen bed. There are two additional bedrooms, one with 4 bunks and one with two bunks and a double bed. These guest bedrooms share a large bathroom with a double shower stall and two vanities. The bathrooms are both nicely appointed with travertine stone floor and granite vanity.
There is an additional half bath off the dining room with a pine cone sink pedestal, pine cone light sconces and rock trim behind the vanity.
The kitchen is well equipped for the gourmet chef with a five burner cooktop and double ovens. You’ll find every small appliance and utensil imaginable in the kitchen. There is a large walk-in pantry fully stocked with a wide array of spices and has plenty of room for your groceries. With a slab granite island, and richly stained alder cabinets, you’ll find the kitchen an inviting place to gather. The beauty of the kitchen is heightened by the 20’ceilings, trusses that are an extension of the great room and sweeping views of both the lake and cherry orchard behind the house.
You may dine in the large dining room (table with extensions seats 12) overlooking the outdoor fireplace courtyard and lake, or make yourself comfortable outside under the covered patio overlooking the lake. The covered patio boasts an oversized Weber gas grill with a side burner for full meal preparation al fresco!
We also offer a spacious loft above the garage as a separate rental unit or as an addition to your house rental. The loft has a queen bed, bathroom and sweeping views of the lake. (Not available in winter.)
You’ll find everything you desire in a vacation here: rest, relaxation, outdoor activity and great family time. Please contact us soon and book your vacation week.
NEW: Our neighbors on Skidoo Bay recently posted a really wonderful video depicting fun on the lake. Ask us about it.
FALL: Fall brings a brilliant blue sky and quiet to the lake. The weather has been particularly nice in September over the past several years. It's a big, northern state, so there are no guarantees, but lately it seems like we've had longer summers up there. October can often be sunny and crisp and beautiful, even if you lose your warm lake water for swimming. More often than not, I've enjoyed nice Indian Summers into October, with those blue skies in the day, wood smoke and the smell of the orchards at night, and sometimes snow across the bay on the top of the Mission Mountains. Glacier Park is usually open well into the fall. At Apgar campground, far south in Glacier Park, you can walk out onto a bridge in the fall and watch a dozen or more bald eagles gather to feed on salmon. I'm biased, and it's probably because I rarely get there in the fall anymore, but it's one of my favorite times to be at Flathead Lake. Winter brings skiing through the snow-covered trees of Whitefish Mountain, and the good camaraderie of (other!) Canadian bargain-hunters. And spring brings the blossoming of cherry trees above our house and throughout the Flathead valley.
WINTER: Because we have deep roots there, and because it’s where we built a house near water that laps upon the shore like words of Yeats, we spend our winter holidays in Montana. In the easy seasons it is a reliable heaven on earth. In the winter it is either snow-covered peaks against bright skies - or grey isolation.
This Christmas, the strain of travel weighed a little heaver on eye and muscle when the first morning hours arrived, enveloped by low clouds and the dark of the longest night of the year. The world was in harmony only with the lure of another hour in a feather bed. One querulous goose flapped and honked over a hundred of its kind, all floating on the cold lake with a caking of snow on their heads and backs. They ignored him, and we all claimed a little more sleep.
And then, when the world was right, the inevitable call of one bird to some willing other began again, and the day could unfold toward coffee and breakfast. It’s in that moment that the vacation begins, and you are no longer tempted to begrudge the forsaken comforts of Christmas enchiladas and the twinkling lights of the village we leave behind here.
Nowhere in the city do you get that call and response, and such a reliable ordering of things.

There is no dock for use, but you won't need it to launch the kayaks. The water is shallow for 100 yards or more. Sit in the cool water, swim out a ways, or kayak into the vast Flathead Lake. It is the largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi River and has spectacular views in every direction. - "Cozy, daylight basement perfect for the 2 of us and our puppy. Very clean and well-stocked. Porch was a nice place to sit out at the end of the day. Cheryl and Brett were great hosts. They’ll visit as much or as little as you’d like. Huck, their dog was a gentle giant as he played with our 11#, 8 month old puppy. We’re looking forward to staying there again." - "What can I say? Cheryl and Brett are amazing hosts. They did extremely well at being available to us at all times while still respecting our privacy. Brett loaded up the kayaks and drove us to the lake without us even having to ask. Their dog Huck is an ABSOLUTE delight. I miss him already, such a good boy. The property itself is gorgeous. While we were there, we had deer sitings, a mountain lion, and a momma black bear and her cubs. We felt 100% safe and secure at all times though, they even have bear spray to take with you if you go hiking. Every small detail in the suite was considered. The wifi password is displayed prominently and easily, there are complimentary toiletries, and the decor around the house is absolutely adorable. Flathead lake is absolutely gorgeous and lived up to every drop of the hype. Kayaking was an amazing experience and we are already talking about making this a yearly trip. If you are looking at this property, book it with full confidence. We had a stunningly good experience and can't wait to see Cheryl, Brett, and Huck again next year."

- "We had a great time with gorgeous sunsets every night over Flathead Lake! The owner thought of every detail to make the place welcoming and comfortable." - "Great location and views. House was as advertised. Quiet neighborhood and well stocked kitchen. Comfortable beds and living area. Nice and relaxing stay. " - "Cozy enveloped by woods at the very end of this peninsula. Lovely peaceful and good vibes " - "Four adults stayed for 4 nights. This place was perfect. Incredible views. Saw mountains, the lake, deer (including a 10 pt Muley!), and even a black bear 2x on returning to the house. The house was immaculate, stocked with anything you could need. Would recommend it to everyone. The owner had fast responses to all questions. Driveways are a bit rough and would be challenging in winter. Deck boards need some attention. We didn't even use the second house except to play some pool. This is a great place to stay! "

Two cabins, right on the lake and nestled on a cherry orchard, offer an ideal gathering spot for family reunions and large groups. The property was formerly a resort in the 1940s on pristine Flathead Lake in the Skidoo Bay area. The lower cabin was restored from the original 1940's resort cabin with a new addition added. Both cabins offer an excellent location with stunning views of the lake. Both cabins have a total of three gas fireplaces, three living rooms and fully furnished kitchens, 4.5 bathrooms, two balconies with up close views of the lake, two large decks and a large fire pit area right on the lake. The boat dock was rebuilt and the lakeshore was updated with a new seawall and improved landscaping allowing more lounging space. There are two washers and two dryers provided as well. With plenty of room to spread out it’s the perfect family stay for visitors with children. During cherry season (end of July beginning of August) visitors can enjoy famous regional Flathead cherries to their hearts content. The property offers enough privacy that you can hunker down and get away from everything for a peaceful retreat. This is a summer only rental with a ONE WEEK MINIMUM STAY. Events (e.g. weddings or other) must be pre-approved by owner. Additional cleaning fees and a bed tax apply. No smoking. Boats will need to be put in the lake in at the nearby Finley Point State Park. Boat dock may not be used for overnight mooring and boats should not be kept at the dock if the weather is unfavorable. Owner/Property Management Company is not liable for damage to watercraft if occurs. Parking for RVs or boats must be pre-approved by owner. We highly recommend guests purchase travel insurance as wildland fires can affect the area.
The cabins are only 8 miles from the nearest town and about 20 minutes from Big Fork, a great tourist destination. Enjoy the spectacular scenery of the Mission Mountains, Mission & Flathead valleys and Flathead Lake on your way to Glacier National Park, The Bison Range, and other Federal & State Parks all within a 2 hour drive or less. The lake is surrounded by State Parks that allow camping and have boat ramps. The perfect retreat for a visit in Big Sky Country.
Safety: Cameras are on the exterior of the premises for security purposes. Caution- cement pad, sea wall and boat dock are right on the water without rails. Decks that are high above ground, and stairs in both cabins, and high retaining wall by garage. Children must be supervised at all times. Front deck on lower cabin closest to water has 15 person max. capacity.
- "Beautiful place. Lots of room for large familys and very well supplied. Dock area is perfect w lots of chairs and umbrellas." - "The location near Finley Point can't be beat! We spent much time kayaking, paddle boarding, and surfing, and the water was never crowded. We especially appreciated how well appointed the kitchens were, plenty of utensils and cookware. My family would love to stay here again. John T." - "This place is amazing! Not only is the location perfect and the owners super responsive, they have (literally) every possible thing you could need! Honestly, all you need to bring is food and clothes. The lake temperature was perfect, the beds are comfy and the homes are beautiful!"

Remodeled all throughout, plus new crib dock and buoy. This home was remodeled throughout in 2022. It features four bedrooms and three baths, large kitchen with a pantry, island, living room and built in banquet dining area. Every bedroom features a large closet and is connected to a bathroom. The property has a lovely orchard, level lot from the house to the lake with beautiful views of Flathead Lake. Filled with great amenities!
- "Our stay was just great - the hosts were wonderful and easy to communicate with. Location was fine and everyone enjoyed running down the lawn to the dock in the morning to swim/kayak or fish. The house was well appointed, everything functioned as it should. Lanni and Curt keep the place well maintained and were very attentive to our needs. The only item I'd point out to be aware of is that two of the beds shown on the listing as Queen size are actually only full sized mattresses on queen frames. Minor issue (except for my 6'3" son-in-law who lost the draw for the king bed). Would absolutely come back!"

- "We came to Montana to get away for the weekend and do some white water rafting. Loved the cabin! We spent a lot of time on the deck at the table, eating and playing games. Short walk to water and sun deck. Would definitely stay again." - "We had a wonderful stay at the Nelsen cabin. The location proximate to a small North facing cove on Finley was excellent. The cabin is just steps from the shore and appeared to be recently very tastefully renovated. We had a great time disconnecting for few days and would definitely stay here again."

Come enjoy this gorgeous, peaceful A-frame log cabin nestled on the Ski-Doo Bay side of Finley Point. This stunning, premier bay on the southeast shore of Flathead Lake boasts spectacular views of the Mission Mountains and offers a great opportunity for water sports in a breathtaking, quiet cove.
Feel free to keep your boat at our newly surfaced private dock, which features a boat lift with a 6,000-pound capacity and is just steps away from the cabin. Additional deposit and signed waiver are required to use the boat lift. Swim, fish, or relax on the dock, cement breakwater, or dock-side patio. S'mores await at the firepit and the new landscaping makes lake access a breeze.
Treat yourself to a magnificent sunrise or infinite star gazing over the Mission Mountains from our spacious, two-level deck, just off the main floor living space. The lake views will take your breath away! The deck has plenty of seating on comfortable, all-weather furniture, as well as a propane grill, and an outdoor heater for a cooler, summer evening. If you need a little shade, just roll out the retractable awning.
Our three-level home is modern, clean, and comfy. It features hardwood floors on the main floor and in the loft. The living room looks right out at the lake and has a decorative rock fireplace. If you’re not up for breakfast outside, you can opt for either the small table or the eat-in breakfast counter. The small galley kitchen is both functional and modern. It has a dishwasher, gorgeous cast-iron electric stove (new but made to look antique), refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, blender, crockpot, and all the staples.
The main floor also has a bedroom with a queen-sized bed. The bathroom on this level has a jetted tub, as well as a shower. Upstairs, the spacious loft features a king-sized bed, facing a wall of windows with unending lake and mountain views, not to mention a cozy reading nook.
Consider sending the kids down to the fully furnished basement, which stays cool all day and all night in the summer. The basement has one room with a double bed. While the room functions as a bedroom, it does not have a door or an egress window. The basement living area has two sets of twin bunk beds, a 42-inch television, and lots of space for games and puzzles. The basement also has a second bathroom with a shower. The utility room includes a full-sized washer and dryer, as well as a second refrigerator, which is perfect for all your summer drinks!
Boat lift available with signed waiver and additional $200 deposit.
- "The views from the house were stunning! We were able to drop the waverunners into the water and keep them at the dock all week. The house was clean and accommodating, although the bedrooms and bathrooms were small. The king bed is in the loft, so don't expect privacy and it's very bright in the mornings and loud if you have people that stay up late, wondering ear plugs and eye mask. Also, the pillows on the king bed were flat and dingey. The kids said they loved their beds/pillows though. The kitchen was well stocked, but small. No kitchen table, just a counter and small breakfast nook. The AC units worked great. TV in the main living room was really small. The shared gravel driveway was a bit tight with the trailer, but we made it work. Overall, the stay was great, and none of this bothered us too much because we spent most of our time on the dock or on the lake. We enjoyed the sereneness of the lake and the deer that would frequentl the property."

The owners are very nice and helpful, very quick to answer any questions and they have almost every pamphlet available for activities to do around the area." - "We found this house by chance when our original booking was cancelled by the owner two days before departure. We could not be happier with how things worked out. Brad and Lisa went above and beyond to make this a great stay. Great communication made check in smooth, and their welcome note with information was helpful. The house is lovely with plenty of space for the six of us to spread out and settle in. The kitchen is well stocked making meals in easy. Plenty of towels, hot water, and paper products. Photos of the house do not do it or the location justice. Everyone in our group highly recommends this property and we hope to visit again. "

- "We loved the property, location and the owners were easily accessible and easy to work with. Highly recommend." - "Our family had a great stay. Everything went smoothly, the house was clean and just as advertised, and we loved being on the lake." - "If you are looking for an amazing time on Flathead Lake, look no further! We rented this outstanding property for a small family reunion in July. I cannot say enough about how perfect the cabin, lawn, massive deck, and water access was for our group. The cabin was absolutely gorgeous from the furnishings to the décor and lighting. The beds and linens were super cozy and the air-conditioning came in handy during the 95 plus degree days. The grandparents appreciated the separate sleeping quarters with private bathroom which enabled them some privacy and quiet from the main house if desired. We thoroughly enjoyed being able to spend time on the large deck, which provided ample seating room for the whole clan staying there plus some family who just dropped by for the day. Down at the water, there is an awesome roped off swimming area with soft sand under your toes. And the bay provides excellent shelter from the wind plus an epic view of the Mission Mountains in the background. This place is an absolute gem! And to top it off, the property owners are fantastic and gracious. If I could give more than 5 stars I would! We will definitely be back year after year."

- "Excellent location, Best location we have had on the lake. Very comfortable" - "Great house and location. The only reason I took off stars for accuracy was because the tennis court listed in the house description is not useable—no net and the court surface is in terrible condition. We had plenty of other things to keep us busy, but we didn’t think this should be listed as a house feature." - "Beautiful lake house with great covered area to sit and watch the lake. Responsive management service fixed the wifi on a Sunday. Looking forward to our next stay."

Nature House, on Flathead Lake's beautiful Finley Point peninsula, was designed & built for folks who like to chill in the woods. It’s for people who like to watch the water & the clouds move. Who like to soak with their sweetie. And breathe deep in a sauna. Maybe kick a little butt playing shuffleboard. Hopefully all of the above!
The space
Nature House is a welcoming and relaxing personal retreat, perched on a 2 acre wooded hillside on the Finley Point peninsula, overlooking beautiful Flathead Lake. Grab a robe and Turkish towel from the spa-like bathroom, and breathe deep in the outdoor sauna. Enjoy morning coffee and gorgeous views by the fire table on Nature House's expansive deck. Later, cook up dinner on the deck's propane grill. Watch the deer, turkeys, and occasional bear. Look up and see osprey, hawks, and eagles flying and calling overhead. All while gazing out over the beautiful, blue waters of Flathead Lake, the largest freshwater lake West of the Mississippi.
Nature House is not only a beautiful refuge outside, but inside as well. Designed as a place of respite and rejuvenation for folks looking for a little solitude or for that perfect romantic getaway, Nature House is all about simple comfort. Giant windows make it feel as if you're living in the trees. Enjoy lake and mountain views while unwinding in the concrete soaking tub for two. Let the shower's rain and jet features work their magic on sore, tired muscles. Relax and reconnect.
Nature House features two distinct sleeping areas depending on your mood and needs. Downstairs is a cozy, dark, romantic bedroom with queen size bed and television. Upstairs in the loft, wake up to trees and dazzling lake views in the cloud-like king size bed, and enjoy good conversation or just kicking back in the comfortable sitting area. Along with wireless internet and 50" Smart televisions in the living room and downstairs bedroom, you’ll find a nice selection of books, music, magazines, and games for entertainment. And shuffleboard! There’s an 8’ shuffleboard table in the loft, for those guests with a bit of a competitive streak! A beautiful full kitchen looking over the lake, grill and outdoor seating on the spacious deck, and a stock of basic spices, oils, and condiments, make cooking at home delightful and easy. Love coffee? There's a grinder, French press, traditional drip pot, and coffee grounds all ready for that morning cup!
Finley Point State Park is a quick two miles down the road and is the perfect place to launch your boat, paddle board, or kayak. Or take a short drive on one of the most scenic highways in the country, along the East Shore of Flathead Lake, and explore the waters and orchards of Yellow Bay and Woods Bay. Drive a little further and make a day trip out of Glacier National Park, Whitefish, and Columbia Falls. Check out the galleries, theater, and restaurants in Bigfork… maybe book a sailboat cruise! Head just 8 miles South to Polson to stock up on supplies and grab a burger at Richwine’s Burgerville… locally owned and operated since 1962. Take in the spectacular scenery as you play a round of golf at Polson Bay Golf Course. And check out a couple of my favorite local restaurants: the East Shore Smokehouse and the Finley Point Grill are just down the street. Getting married? Nature House is only one mile from The Barn at Finley Point and is absolutely perfect for honeymooners. An easy 75 miles from Missoula and 45 miles from Kalispell, Nature House is the perfect getaway for locals and visitors alike!
Cozy and warm, designed with nature in mind and a contemporary sensibility, Nature House is all about comfort and connection to the surrounding landscape. Breathe deep and enjoy!
Guest access
Nature House sits at the top of a two acre wooded hillside, and the entire house and the property below it is yours to enjoy. I often stay in the small cabin at the base of the property, but both homes are situated for maximum peace and privacy for all.
WINTERTIME GUESTS: You should plan on having 4WD/AWD and a solid sense of adventure! Depending on conditions, 4WD/AWD is a MUST if you want to make it up (and down!) the driveway via vehicle. I do the best I can to keep the driveway clear and the home accessible, but there are times when Mother Nature will win the battle. You may end up having to park at the first landing area halfway up the hill and hiking in a few hundred yards or on the side of the road at the very bottom of the hill and hiking in a bit further. That said, it is soooo peaceful and lovely in the winter and it's my favorite time of year at Nature House!
Other things to note
Please note: It is very important to me that your stay is comfortable, so there are a few things you should know.
The driveway is steep and it's dirt, but easily accessible Spring through Fall in most vehicles. 4WD/AWD AND A SOLID SENSE OF ADVENTURE ARE MUST IN WINTER CONDITIONS (which can start as early as October and last through March or April).
There is a short, steep uphill walk (takes just a minute or two) on a solar lighted trail from the parking area to the house. There is a short staircase to the bathroom and a full staircase to the loft.
Roku TV apps include Hulu Plus, Disney Plus, ESPN Plus, and Pandora. You are welcome to access other apps with your own account.
Nature House is the perfect place for solo travelers and couples, but it can accommodate up to 4 people. While I adore young children, Nature House is really the ultimate "grown-up" retreat, and children are not allowed.
Regarding Pets: One well-behaved pet is allowed with pet fee. If your pet sheds heavily or is nervous in new situations, I kindly ask that you please consider another option for them. Pets are not allowed on any furniture including the beds, couch, and outdoor sectional. Please clean up after your pet and please do not allow them to chase the wildlife or run loose. Pets are not to be left unattended. If your plans have you out all day, ask me about adding dog walking services to your visit!

A rare opportunity to be able to stay in a new, craftsman style home on one of the quietest bays on Flathead. A perfect base for exploring Glacier National Park, and enjoying one of the most beautiful natural lakes in America, with treasured friends. Recognized by (beautiful Washington based) 'Northwest Travel Magazine' as one of the best waterfront rentals in the Northwest.
The space
Inspired by the classic bungalow houses of Greene & Greene, this 3208 square foot home lies 50' from the lapping waters of pristine Flathead Lake, on Skidoo Bay. Hand-laid rocks and tall beams create dozens of beautiful views, from inside, on the deck with a large fireplace, or out on the dock. It is very rare to find a house of this quality available for rent (but the owners have steep taxes and insurance to pay...). Its uniqueness and value make this a more expensive than usual rental, appropriate for what advertisers like to call "discriminating" customers. No one who has been our guest has ever been less than wildly enthusiastic about their stay. Across the waters of Skidoo Bay, the north end of the Mission Mountains tail off, and the Swan Range begins. You will be about an hour and a quarter to Glacier National Park, or Whitefish (or Blacktail) for skiing. THANKS TO NORTHWEST TRAVEL MAGAZINE FOR NAMING US ONE OF THE BEST WATERFRONT VACATION RENTALS IN THE NORTHWEST, AND TO AIRBNB AND TESLA FOR FEATURING OUR HOME AND PROVIDING AN ELECTRIC CAR CHARGER FOR USE BY OUR GUESTS.
Guest access

Please note that security cameras on the exterior of the premises provide snapshots of comings and goings - that is, for security. If this is of concern to you, please feel free to discuss alternatives with us.

Low water? No problem! This beautiful Flathead Lake home sits on Skidoo Bay with a deep water rock crib dock! This home/cabin combo sits on a rocky bluff above it's 500 sq ft dock with lift. The main home was built in 2000 and the smaller cabin was the original home on the property. The property has 6 total bedrooms with pullout couches in the family room. There are multiple decks to enjoy the beautiful views - whether enjoying sunrise over the Mission Mountain Range or a cool Montana evening.
The modern mountain house welcomes its guests with a birds eye view of Montana's second largest lake, Flathead Lake. On a clear day you can see the Whitefish ski resort over 40 miles away and if you're lucky, see an otter as you peer down to the shoreline from the comfort of the home. We spent the last year renovating top to bottom and are very happy to be sharing our home and this amazing place with you.

There is a boat ramp close to our house about 3 minute drive. It’s a shared boat ramp with our fellow neighbors. The boat ramp area is called Timbershor and we have access to slip 10. You cannot leave a boat there, but can access, dock and such. There is parking down in that area for your car as well.
We also have a small beach 2 minute walk from our house (it is a natural made path down to the beach) where we have 2 paddle boards, Lilly pad and 1 paddle boat.
We also have a more common area beach where there the boat ramps are. Tons of families hang out here and enjoy the beach.
We offer mountain bikes, provide bear spray, and hiking sticks for our guests.
We also have a new family of bald eagles to the left of the house to enjoy!!!

My home is set up to function for my large family as our summer lake house for summer outdoor enjoyment, large boat dock and beach, 2 fire pits, BBQ, outdoor living and fun on the water. I have a cherry orchard and berry farm also on the property. It has the comforts and amenities of a cozy lake cottage without being fussy. 3 private acres with a main cabin + 2 other summer cabins on my property. They are available for an additional fee per night, but will not be rented to a separate party during your stay, so to ensure privacy is provided for your vacation. Message me for details if you would like those cabins made available for your stay. I also have a boat and jet skis available to rent.
Guest access
Guests have access to the entire property, beach, dock and orchard. They are welcome to pick cherries and berries, if they choose, as well as flowers.
Other things to note
Flathead Lake is a large body of water. My dock and beach are on Skidoo Bay. The beach and dock are typically calm and very protected. Storms do come up in the Rocky Mountains and can produce high wind and wave conditions. Guests please be aware at all times of water and wind conditions. There is plentiful wildlife around to be aware of including deer, fox, otter, beaver, bald eagles, osprey, grouse and, of course, bears. The summer heat and activity tends to push them up behind the mountains. They can pay earlier morning and evening visits to the lake and property at any time of night or day, of course, at their discretion.
