Conveniently located on the western edge of the Shawnee Wine Trail, our cabin is close to the many activities, wineries, breweries or restaurants the region has to offer. Enjoy the orchard blooms in the spring and in summer and fall, the bountiful harvest is available at the orchard stores. Our cabin offers the perfect accommodations for a family reunion, pre-wedding event, wedding weekend or a quite, relaxing getaway with friends.

Beautiful artisan crafted wood features and furniture made from reclaimed wood throughout make the cabin unique. The comfort of our guests is foremost in our minds. The cabin is multi level with two large covered decks overlooking Cave Creek so you can enjoy relaxing outdoors even on a rainy day. A spacious 1500 sq ft, the cabin can sleep up to 8 guests, has a full kitchen stocked with cookware and dinnerware. The kitchen, dining area for 8, and living area with gas fireplace, recliner and HD-TV are located on the entry level. A bedroom, with very comfortable queen bed, a full bath and a sleeper sofa are located on each level.

The large family area, featuring board games and game table, satellite, HD-TV, DVD/CD player are located on the lower level. With a bedroom and full bath on each level, our cabins are perfect for multi couples or families. Our showers have great water pressure, too!

Our cabins feature beautiful custom wood furniture, countertops and accents made from reclaimed wood that you just have to see. Each cabin offers two bedrooms, all with very comfortable queen mattresses, two sleeper sofas and two full baths. The upper level of the cabins feature a great room with trestle style dining table that seats 8 comfortably. The ample living area has a gas fireplace, recliner, sofa and HD-TV. Our full kitchen, with full size appliances, has beautiful wood countertops and seating for 4 at the island. Large supply of cookware, dinnerware for 8, coffeemaker and toaster provided. One bedroom and a full bath are also located on this level. The upper deck features a great overlook of Cave Creek for you to enjoy from the drink rail while you rest on our comfortable seating.

Less than a mile north of Alto Pass, Mark's Lane is between Alto Vineyards and Rendleman's Orchard Store. It's a very short drive to Bald Knob Cross, Cedar Lake, Little Grand Canyon, Pomona Natural Bridge or Trail of Tears state park. The hiking is great. Try the lesser used trail skirting beautiful Cedar Lake, one of the best fishing lakes in the region.

Alto Pass was in the prime viewing area for the 2017 Eclipse and will be again in April 2024. The Shawnee will again have the longest viewing time for the full eclipse. We have so much to offer visitors in the Shawnee Region. Nature lovers have an abundance of trails to choose from, several of them geared for the occasional hiker or children. There are excellent rock climbing locations for the more adventurous visitors. We have one of the best zip lines in the United States. Our region offers great biking trails. There are lavender farms, strawberry and blueberry patches, and a bison ranch. They start picking peaches in June. Apples and other farm fresh produce are available at the farm stores. Don't miss the orchards in springtime bloom. Watch for festivals and music every weekend at the wineries. Don't miss the food and wine pairing weekends. Yum! Why did we name it "Havisham House"? Have you read Great Expectations by Charles Dickens? Main character, Miss Havisham, lived in the Satis House, a ruined mansion. This property immediately reminded me of this classic novel when we found it in 2015… abandoned and heavily damaged from a severe tornado. (Please see "before" pictures at havishamhouse.com.) Even with its extensive damage, we fell in love with this property and had "great expectations" for its rescue. - "A group of 3 ladies stayed here for 2 nights to enjoy a long holiday weekend. The house and property were well above our expectations. The pictures of the property are great, but do not reflect just how special this place is for a relaxing stay. Everything is well thought out..from the linens, furniture and decor to the extra features such as the electric fireplace, lighting, hot tub, and fire pit. The decor is incredible with high end pieces. Home is super clean and fresh. All utensils, cookware, etc., match and all items are in place. No detail has been overlooked. We enjoyed sitting on the private back deck and feeling close to nature. The basement is very comfortable and provides extra living space if needed. Decor and details are just as good on that level. The space
The property is on a road that usually isn’t traveled much and it borders the Shawnee National Forest. The driveway is gravel and on a hill. The outdoor area has plenty of room and privacy for a family or small get together with a nice level space to sit next to a fire pit. There is one outdoor toss game so far but plan to add more games outdoors. Inside there is a spiral staircase to the loft bedroom but there is also a couch available downstairs that turns into a single bed. The loft has 1 twin long and 1 queen size bed that are both very comfortable, extra pillows and bedding are available. There is extra bedding and board games in a drawer under the twin bed. There is 1 tv that can be seen almost anywhere in the treehouse however there is no cable, internet or WiFi do to the location it’s simply not available, cell service is limited however this is not why you are staying here at all. There is a small kitchen with most of the things you would need to cook meals and a good size refrigerator. There are cleaning supplies under the sink just in case they are needed. The bathroom is very nice and has ample room to get ready for anything from hunting to a wine trail tour.

- "Fantastic place, great views, easy check in/out process" - "We had a great stay at the White Oak Cabin! The amenities were all up to date and the cabin was gorgeous! Our host Allison was quick to answer all of our questions. We are a family of four and also brought along our two dogs. They had provided a dog dish, placemat, and towel. Although it isn't a huge cabin, we were all perfectly comfortable. Having two older kids, we brought along an air mattress which wasn't needed because the cabin had one stowed under a bed, which we weren't expecting. It was a nice surprise! We had also brought along a bag of charcoal for the grill, but a partial bag was already there along with some lighter fluid. We used that and paid it forward by leaving ours there for the next people to use. We enjoyed the hammock and spent a lot of time out on the deck. The property is gorgeous! The only complaint we would have is that it would be nice if there was a mowed walkway all around the pond, not just the path to walk down to it. We have already recommended Southern Illinois Vacation Rentals to several friends and family. Thanks for a great stay!"

Welcome to the Shawnee and "Corinth"! The structure in which you will be staying was formerly a two room schoolhouse that's been transformed into a residence. The school's name was Corinth, hence the name of this establishment. Accessed by a private outside entrance with a deck, the space consists of a bedroom with a queen bed, a hallway, a full bath and a beverage/ closet nook. The deck is a great place to sit and relax while watching the birds, squirrels, rabbits, chickens, and ducks!

The space
Corinth is located in Shawnee National Forest in Hardin County and is a 15 minute drive to Garden of the Gods. Perfect place to stay while exploring the Shawnee!

Guests have access to an area of my home that is blocked and locked off from my living area and has its own private exterior entrance. The large yard is also available for walking, lounging, or playing sports.

This home is in Golconda Illinois. Pope County Illinois is in the middle of Shawnee National Forest.

It has 4 bedrooms with a queen size bed in each room. It has a 2 full bathrooms. Master bedroom has a queen size and full size bed.

The kitchen has everything you will need to cook any meal you choose.The living room has lots of room to entertain with chairs for 15 people.

We do not have cable or WIFi because we are trying to keep it as affordable. The TV in the living has a Roku.

The space
This property is only 1/4 mile from Golconda Marina, which is on the Ohio River. Golconda Marina rents boats and has anything you will need to fish and for your boat.
Shawnee National Forest surrounds Golconda. There are many attractions and activities guest should consider. The following State parks are worth your time to check out. Garden of the Gods hikes are totally breath taking. Indian Kitchen is an area where Native American Indians would run wild game over the towering cliffs to the bottom of the creek bed and that would turn that area into a "kitchen". It is about a 1/2 mile hike back to the kitchen. Wear good hiking shoes and a bathing suit under your long sleeves and pants. Because you will want to stay all day long swimming and exploring the area. Bell Smith Springs is another State park that has awesome hiking and swimming areas. Dixon Springs Park also has numerous areas to hike and a public swimming pool.
Pope County is know as the Sportsman Paradise because of the huge White Tail Deer who live here.

Come ready to enjoy the great outdoors. If you prefer to just hang out. There is The Luck Creek and Bar, with Video Gaming, The Driver Down, S and S Pizza and Such, The Levee Lounge, Kirina's Tex Mex restaurant. All of theses places have my two thumbs up for awesome food and fun!

Once you book the Lodge, I will send you a front door code. Put it in on number pad, turn sliver knob to the right. To lock just put in the code and turn to the left. Please keep the Lodge locked if you are not there.

The TV is a 50 inch color TV with a built-in DVD player and it is hooked up to a Roku.
turn the TV on by pushing the power button, then the Roku remote go to settings and then tether your phone's Hotspot to watch TV.

Tiny home nestled on the edge of the Shawnee National Forest. A cozy one bedroom with full closet and stacked washer and dryer the bed is a full size. Kitchen with stove, fridge and microwave. It does not have a dishwasher. Living room has a smart TV sign in to your Netflix, Sling, YouTube TV etc. Wi-fi provided. No cable. Full bathroom with shower unit. Some of our guest has said sitting on the porch watching the beautiful sunsets each night was an added bonus for staying with us.

It is located on our family farm one mile from the town of Ozark. You will have one close neighbor across the road. And we are located right down the hill. The neighbors in between are our 2 children on their own farms. It's a quit neighborhood for farm life. We own cattle so you may hear cows, dogs and frogs with the windows open.

Despite the fact that it is located in a residential neighborhood.. You might be amazed at what you spot when porch sitting at Be still. 🦌🦉🦊

Come to the lake to unplug. There is no wifi BUT you will likely have pretty good cell service (if you want to) no matter what major carrier you have. 🔌

Outdoor areas: Grill, picnic table. Outdoor seating- the porch has two chairs, there are four Adirondack chairs around the mood lit fire pit. Tree canopy opens up and the area can be darkened if desired for perfect star gazing on a clear night. 💫

Loft area- We personally feel that the loft area is cozy, yet spacious and if it is quality sleep that you are looking for.. the be still loft with its queen size marshmallow cloud of a bed is it. 👌🏼☁️ There is also an electric fireplace in the loft that has various flame settings that can be on even without heat. 🔥

Pullout sofa- If you are anything like us, a getaway sounds great but you sometimes just want to bring the kiddo along too. Although we don’t really recommend this as a family destination. If there is someone else accompanying you there is a 58 in tri fold sofa in the lower living area. Pro tip: Our favorite thing is pulling the sofa and all the pillows piled up to watch a movie.. with the tv directly in front of you, in the dark it feels like you are at a drive in theater. 🎥 🍿 Smart TV can be “hot spotted” to your personal device so you can access your favorite streaming apps.

Kitchen- Stocked and ready with the essentials for cooking on the range, in the oven or microwave oven. Spacious refrigerator and freezer space.

Bathroom- Hot water on demand, full size shower, standard sized toilet. 🤯 Is this really camping?

We do want to be transparent to the handicap population that unfortunately that this may not be the stay for you. Aside from the steps entering the camper there is also a small “step down” to the kitchen area, the loft stairs are wide however there is (though minimal) a small amount of “crawling” required into the loft bed.

There is a small loft at the front of the camper that we please ask that it only be used for storage.

We might call this place a hideaway but the nearby activities and amenities are too numerous to list! Enjoy the secluded forest location surrounded by towering trees, abundant wildlife, and plenty of outdoor activities. Our cabin is just minutes away from the Trail of Tears, Dixon Springs State Park, the delicious Chocolate Factory, the towns of Golconda, Metropolis, and the bigger city of Paducah. The space
You'll be greeted by the warm, open floor plan as soon as you walk in the door. The living room, dining room, and kitchen all flow together in a great space with a smaller bedroom complete with two twin beds located downstairs. The large number of windows allow natural light to flood the inside of the cabin and treat your eyes to views of nothing but forest outside. Climb the stairs to discover a unique loft-style master bedroom and master bathroom with access to a private second story deck that gives you the impression of relaxing in a treehouse high above the forest floor.

You will have full access to all the rooms of the cabin. You will also be able to utilize the stocked fishing pond outside and the screened-in pavilion and fire pit located near the pond as well.

Other things to note
UPDATE 3/15/25 - The jets in the whirlpool tub in the upstairs bathroom have quit working but the tub is still usable as a soaking tub. The tub will be replaced in an upcoming bathroom remodel scheduled for this fall.

Just about 2 minutes down the road from the cabin is Dixon Springs State Park which has many amenities to offer including walking trails, playgrounds, picnic areas, and a refreshing swimming pool to cool you off on those hot summer days. If you're looking for full-service restaurants, the Diver Down and the Darribar are both located in Golconda, about 15 minutes to the east of the cabin. The Gas-n-Go fuel station here also cooks made to order pizzas and sandwiches and does usually have some grab-and-go options as well. The Golconda Foodmart is a small grocery store located here and there is also a Dollar General as well for any last minute items you may need to pick up.

Drive 20 minutes west of the cabin and you'll enter Vienna, IL where you can find fast food options including Subway, McDonald's, and Dairy Queen. Local restaurant options here include Ned's Shed (serving hamburgers) and Wildfires Restaurant (serving home-style meals with daily specials).

Paducah, Kentucky located 30 minutes south offers numerous dining, entertainment, and shopping options. Harrisburg, IL is located 30 minutes to the north. Carbondale and Marion, IL are both located about 45 minutes away to the northwest of the cabin.

Secluded, yet convenient, we’re within 5 min of two wineries, ziplining, trail heads, and I-57. This is your unforgettable romantic wine country retreat or comfortable rest after hiking or travel.

There is no TV or Wi-Fi (good cell signal though) but that is not why you’re here! Explore the vineyards, walk the trails, and drink complementary on-farm roasted coffee!

The cabin is nestled into the hillside 200 ft from a quiet country road, the kind that has no lines. It is small (16’x20’) but comfortably and well appointed, especially for the wine and coffee lover.
