Welcome to the Farmhouse, a cozy studio retreat nestled in the Topanga hills. This inviting space features a comfy queen canopy bed, en-suite bath, and a kitchenette for light meals.

The room opens onto a private deck and patio, perfect for waking up with the singing birds, and an outdoor clawfoot tub for a relaxing soak under the trees.

Enjoy easy access to local attractions including cafes and restaurants, village shops, hiking trails with breathtaking views, and Malibu beaches.l

The property has three different spaces, the main house where I live that you will see upon entering the gate and going down the front steps. At the bottom of the stairs, you will pass the front door and continue on to the pathway to the left that leads out to the hot tub deck and a breathtaking view.

Down the stairs to the left from there is the Zen Den, a room that is rented separately (zendentopanga dot com). There is a good chance there are other guests staying there so please allow them privacy if they are in the room.

The Farmhouse is a guesthouse further down in the garden at the bottom of the property and detached from the main house. The guesthouse has its own separate patio and deck space which is private to this room, but visible from The Zen Den's space. The clawfoot tub is around the corner of the Farmhouse and provides more privacy as it is not visible from the rest of the yard.

Since there is another room on the property, there is always the possibility that there will be a cleaner, gardener, me, or other maintenance person in the yard, laundry room, or other areas in the yard during the day but this will usually be kept between 11am and 4pm and always minimized as much as possible.

Full access to the guesthouse, private kitchenette and full private bathroom. The deck and small patio outside the Farmhouse is for your exclusive use, as is the clawfoot bathtub.

The rest of the backyard, including the hot tub, is considered shared and the other room and its patio are in close proximity so total privacy in the garden should not be expected.

The hot tub is free to use on a first come first served basis, but is not used frequently so I have not implemented any kind of reservation system for private time or had any conflicts over it's use. Please note that it is in an open area that is also a walk way down to both rooms and visible from my home, so other people could walk by at any time when they are around or going to their room.

I am available by phone and usually close by living on the property. If I am home upon your arrival, I would be happy to welcome you and show you the space, but you can also let yourself in and familiarize yourself with the space on your own if you prefer.

It is about a 15 minute ride down to Malibu and the rest of West LA by the PCH, and about 20 minutes to go the other way to the San Fernando Valley and the rest of LA by the 101 freeway.

It is possible to take an Uber or Lyft but it can often be hard to get a car because there aren't always drivers in the canyon and sometimes they are hesitant to come up this way. Expect it to take longer than usual to get a ride to pick you up.

With this listing, you are renting out two separate listings that are in the same backyard garden area. The Zen Den and the Farmhouse are steps away from each other and provide an excellent space for a larger group to rent out together. This comes with exclusive use of the entire backyard, hot tub, and two rooms each with their own queen canopy bed, kitchenette, full private bathroom, and outdoor patios and deck.

Our Guests have a private entrance with access to their own two private bedrooms, private adjoining patio and custom bathroom. Interaction with Guests

We know that everyone is concerned about safety these days, so we personally cleaned and sanitized the rooms. We keep a pretty tight safety protocol because we visit my elderly parents and our grandchildren regularly. So, our guests don't see much of us during their stay, but they are always free to text us with questions and needs. .
Our guests are given all of the privacy they desire. We will be in the house during their stay to respond to any needs, but we wish our guests a delightfully private experience of the canyon and we enjoy our privacy too! An especially designed guestbook will provide wireless internet access codes, as well as maps and details about local attractions, beaches, restaurants, clubs, art galleries and museums.

The Neighborhood

Our home is situated on five acres so our nearest neighbor is acres away! There are no street lights in Topanga so the nights are filled with the stars, the rising and setting moon. Topanga is well known for its quiet and tranquil beauty. A perfect getaway for city dwellers that need a break!

Getting Around

Guests will need to rent a car to get around our private paradise, but we will provide excellent maps and listings of local attractions, beaches, restaurants, entertainment, and art galleries and museums.

Their home is so beautiful and warm, Linda’s beautiful artwork is stunning and gives you just a glimpse of how talented she is. Everything was as described, beautiful room, comfy beds etc. the rooms were very clean, lovely windows and sliders for fresh air. My husband needed to work a bit & there was a desk in one of the rooms and he also worked on the patio, wifi was fantastic! The highlight for us was the private outdoor space that overlooked the canyon. We loved having our coffee on the patio ( which was provided every morning & delicious) and spending our evenings sipping a glass of wine . This knoll top home with canyon views off the front and back reflects my love of original art, travel, and the outdoors. We're unique in our location, privacy and vibe. Unlike a lot of Canyon homes, we get a lot of sunlight, literally from dawn to dusk. Past guests have commented the best time to enjoy the home is at sunset, hanging on the deck, letting the day wind down. This incredible two story cabin in the heart of Topanga is for nature lovers. It has a lovely outside covered deck which feels like you are floating in an oak forest. You are fully immersed in nature in this unique home, but with all modern amenities. Enjoy the creek below and hiking trails throughout the property.

This charming wooden cottage with a lovely outside covered deck feels like you are floating in an oak forest. You'd never know you were anywhere near a city. Amenities include: stainless steel sink and counter, refrigerator, butcher block chopping area in the kitchenette as part of an outdoor dining area and an inside living room. The downstairs features a newly installed Brazilian Cumaru hardwood floor which, believe it or not, came from Jennifer Aniston's home! There is a queen size bed downstairs.

Climb up a wooden stair case through a hobbit door to enter in a very large bedroom area with beautiful wooden rafters and a queen size bed. There is plenty of room for additional mattresses. There is a separate detached bathroom with a full bath located outside just below the kitchen steps. You will have high speed wireless internet and a long driveway for parking.

It's like living in a mountain village, with other cottages nearby. While we work very hard to keep our places pristine and spotless - if anyone in your party will faint if they see a bug or lizard or little frog inside - then this probably isn't the place for you. Please be very careful booking cottages for someone else - like your parents just arriving from another continent - they might prefer something more conventional.

Some folks describe our places as a luxurious form of camping. We make our cottages very comfortable - they have all the basics - electricity - wifi - most have kitchens, bath or shower and comfy clean beds. But they are not like a hotel with perfect walls and a sterile atmosphere. Please look at all the pictures and read all the reviews. We can't offer refunds just because we don't meet the standards of a normal hotel. Most people are charmed by this idyllic and bohemian lifestyle - but it's not for everyone.

- "We loved this little gem in a quiet neighborhood of Topanga. The condo itself was clean, comfortable and well equipped for a weekend stay. The views were spectacular and we really enjoyed the nearby hikes in Topanga State Park. The only negative experience we had was that the road getting to this unit is steep and rutted, and it was hard to get into the designated parking spaces. We should have rented an SUV. Also, the upstairs renters were quite noisy on our last night. Otherwise, it was a perfect stay!"
