Welcome to the Farmhouse, a cozy studio retreat nestled in the Topanga hills. This inviting space features a comfy queen canopy bed, en-suite bath, and a kitchenette for light meals.

The room opens onto a private deck and patio, perfect for waking up with the singing birds, and an outdoor clawfoot tub for a relaxing soak under the trees.

Enjoy easy access to local attractions including cafes and restaurants, village shops, hiking trails with breathtaking views, and Malibu beaches.l

The property has three different spaces, the main house where I live that you will see upon entering the gate and going down the front steps. At the bottom of the stairs, you will pass the front door and continue on to the pathway to the left that leads out to the hot tub deck and a breathtaking view.

Down the stairs to the left from there is the Zen Den, a room that is rented separately (zendentopanga dot com). There is a good chance there are other guests staying there so please allow them privacy if they are in the room.

The Farmhouse is a guesthouse further down in the garden at the bottom of the property and detached from the main house. The guesthouse has its own separate patio and deck space which is private to this room, but visible from The Zen Den's space. The clawfoot tub is around the corner of the Farmhouse and provides more privacy as it is not visible from the rest of the yard.

Since there is another room on the property, there is always the possibility that there will be a cleaner, gardener, me, or other maintenance person in the yard, laundry room, or other areas in the yard during the day but this will usually be kept between 11am and 4pm and always minimized as much as possible.

Full access to the guesthouse, private kitchenette and full private bathroom. The deck and small patio outside the Farmhouse is for your exclusive use, as is the clawfoot bathtub.

The rest of the backyard, including the hot tub, is considered shared and the other room and its patio are in close proximity so total privacy in the garden should not be expected.

The hot tub is free to use on a first come first served basis, but is not used frequently so I have not implemented any kind of reservation system for private time or had any conflicts over it's use. Please note that it is in an open area that is also a walk way down to both rooms and visible from my home, so other people could walk by at any time when they are around or going to their room.

I am available by phone and usually close by living on the property. If I am home upon your arrival, I would be happy to welcome you and show you the space, but you can also let yourself in and familiarize yourself with the space on your own if you prefer.

It is possible to take an Uber or Lyft but it can often be hard to get a car because there aren't always drivers in the canyon and sometimes they are hesitant to come up this way. Expect it to take longer than usual to get a ride to pick you up.

With this listing, you are renting out two separate listings that are in the same backyard garden area. The Zen Den and the Farmhouse are steps away from each other and provide an excellent space for a larger group to rent out together. Interaction with Guests

We know that everyone is concerned about safety these days, so we personally cleaned and sanitized the rooms. We keep a pretty tight safety protocol because we visit my elderly parents and our grandchildren regularly. So, our guests don't see much of us during their stay, but they are always free to text us with questions and needs. .
Our guests are given all of the privacy they desire. We will be in the house during their stay to respond to any needs, but we wish our guests a delightfully private experience of the canyon and we enjoy our privacy too! An especially designed guestbook will provide wireless internet access codes, as well as maps and details about local attractions, beaches, restaurants, clubs, art galleries and museums.

The Neighborhood

Our home is situated on five acres so our nearest neighbor is acres away! There are no street lights in Topanga so the nights are filled with the stars, the rising and setting moon. Topanga is well known for its quiet and tranquil beauty. A perfect getaway for city dwellers that need a break!

Getting Around

Guests will need to rent a car to get around our private paradise, but we will provide excellent maps and listings of local attractions, beaches, restaurants, entertainment, and art galleries and museums.

Their home is so beautiful and warm, Linda’s beautiful artwork is stunning and gives you just a glimpse of how talented she is. Everything was as described, beautiful room, comfy beds etc. the rooms were very clean, lovely windows and sliders for fresh air. My husband needed to work a bit & there was a desk in one of the rooms and he also worked on the patio, wifi was fantastic! The highlight for us was the private outdoor space that overlooked the canyon. We loved having our coffee on the patio ( which was provided every morning & delicious) and spending our evenings sipping a glass of wine . This knoll top home with canyon views off the front and back reflects my love of original art, travel, and the outdoors. We're unique in our location, privacy and vibe. Unlike a lot of Canyon homes, we get a lot of sunlight, literally from dawn to dusk. Past guests have commented the best time to enjoy the home is at sunset, hanging on the deck, letting the day wind down. The two cozy bedrooms are designed for relaxation. This incredible two story cabin in the heart of Topanga is for nature lovers. It has a lovely outside covered deck which feels like you are floating in an oak forest. You are fully immersed in nature in this unique home, but with all modern amenities. Enjoy the creek below and hiking trails throughout the property.

Amenities include: stainless steel sink and counter, refrigerator, butcher block chopping area in the kitchenette as part of an outdoor dining area and an inside living room. The downstairs features a newly installed Brazilian Cumaru hardwood floor which, believe it or not, came from Jennifer Aniston's home! There is a queen size bed downstairs.

Climb up a wooden stair case through a hobbit door to enter in a very large bedroom area with beautiful wooden rafters and a queen size bed. There is plenty of room for additional mattresses. There is a separate detached bathroom with a full bath located outside just below the kitchen steps. You will have high speed wireless internet and a long driveway for parking.

DISCLAIMER: This is quite different from staying in an ordinary hotel. We are really in NATURE here - these are older cottages hand-built by artists in the forest. They are very rustic! It's like living in a mountain village, with other cottages nearby. While we work very hard to keep our places pristine and spotless - if anyone in your party will faint if they see a bug or lizard or little frog inside - then this probably isn't the place for you. Please be very careful booking cottages for someone else - like your parents just arriving from another continent - they might prefer something more conventional.

Some folks describe our places as a luxurious form of camping. We make our cottages very comfortable - they have all the basics - electricity - wifi - most have kitchens, bath or shower and comfy clean beds. But they are not like a hotel with perfect walls and a sterile atmosphere. Please look at all the pictures and read all the reviews. We can't offer refunds just because we don't meet the standards of a normal hotel. Most people are charmed by this idyllic and bohemian lifestyle - but it's not for everyone.

You can hike, mountain bike, do horseback riding or sit at a outside fire in the evening. The landscape is amazing and you will not believe that this is part of Los Angeles. We drive to work every day to Santa Monica, driving along the beaches on the PCH the famous Pacific Coast Highway passing the ocean, seeing dolphins & seals and fish hunting pelicans.

TOPANGA - the place of the people - is an amazing place to be in this world. This little bohemian town is nestled in the Santa Monica Mountains and was muse to many famous artists and musician and writers ( some still living here ). Elysium fields and Rodeo grounds were in a less than a 3 mile radius from here.

Great Vacation Spot, romantic retreat, Weekend getaway or inspiring writers & artist Studio ( long term rates available).

Space:
The guesthouse is like a Studio apartment (this is part of our house , but there are no joining walls to any living areas )and accommodates 2 comfortably.The guesthouse is located on the lower level of our property and has its one entrance from the driveway via a ' grand staircase' ( 10 wide long steps) to the lower yard. It is partly located under the end of on of our decks in the main house. It is one room with a huge California King bed ( Organic futon & bedding), it has a kitchenette with refridgerator, 4 burner stove top, Microwave with integrated oven. Table and chairs inside and outside. The bathroom is small but a has a beautiful pebble shower with stones from the beach. There is lots of outdoors space as well.It is very private. If you travel with kids we could provide a baby-crib or a roll away.

Pets are ok as long as they are kids friendly.We do have 2 very friendly black Labradors in the main house.

Just 3.5 miles from the ocean. 20 minutes to Santa Monica. 20 min to Malibu, 20 - 30 min to the Studios.
(The times are driving times - we are in LA - forget the walking other than in nature. Cars are required in Los Angeles :)
The town itself has plenty of picturesque areas and is popular for weekend tourists. We have a few beautiful restaurants including the famous INN of the Seventh Ray, a french Bistro, a nice Mexican place,Rocco's Italian, Froggie's a bohemian american/ asian quinine as well as 2 wonderful coffee places.
Topanga is home to the Theatricum Botanicum (Will Gear) an open air Shakespeare Theatre with world class perfomance which attracts visitors from all over Los Angeles.
There is a Hippy Spirit about Topanga. In the 60 & 70 ties this was home to Elysium fields and famous Rodeo Grounds. Bohemian Lifestyle, Artist, Musicians.

Mountainbiking , Hiking in Topanga State Park - the trails start just steps away from this retreat in the Santa Monica Mountain. Surfing.
There are plenty of shopping opportunities in Santa Monica, 3 rd street promenade, the Valley ( remember the show Valleygirls?), Hollywood, famous Melrose.

Beaches:
There are beaches all along the PCH. When you drive down the hill you are right at Topanga State Beach, a popular Surf Spot with some beach restaurants perfect after a long day in the sun.
A little bit up the PCH you come to famous Malibu. Go to the amazing beaches, walk by the Celebrity Villas on the beach, surf, go shopping & spy out for some of those people you know from the movies, have a possibilities.
Beautiful & famous beaches, cliff trails, beach restaurants, whale watching spots in certain month of the year.
Hire a sailboat or take to ferry to Catalina Islands or go on a whale watching boat trip.

The property has three different spaces, the main house that you will see upon entering the gate and going down the front steps. At the bottom of the stairs, you will pass the front door and continue on to the pathway to the left that leads out to the hot tub deck and a breathtaking view.

Down the stairs to the left from there is the Zen Den, which is part of the main house and is technically a second bedroom, but has its own entrance, bathroom and kitchenette on the lower floor in the garden.

There is one more guesthouse further down the steps in the garden that is also rented as a separate listing (farmhousetopanga dot com). Guests of this unit have shared access to the backyard (including hot tub) and must use the patio space outside the room as a walkway to get to the guesthouse. The guesthouse itself has its own separate patio and deck space which is private to that room, but visible from this room's space.

Since there is another room on the property, there is always the possibility that there will be a cleaner, gardener, me, or other maintenance person in the yard, laundry room, or other areas in the yard during the day but this will usually be kept between 11am and 4pm and always minimized as much as possible.

Full access to bedroom, private kitchenette and full private bathroom. The patio outside the Zen Den is for your exclusive use, however, that area is also a walkway to get to the guesthouse so it is possible that others will pass through this area.

There is a barbecue grill on the patio that is for this room's exclusive use.

The rest of the backyard including the hot tub is considered shared and the other room and its patio are in close proximity.

The hot tub is free to use on a first come first served basis, but is not used frequently so I haven't implemented any kind of reservation system for private time or had any conflicts over it's use. Please note that it is in an open area that is also a walk way down to both rooms and visible from my home, so other people could walk by at any time when they are around or going to their room.

I am available by phone and usually close by living on the property. If I am home upon your arrival, I would be happy to welcome you and show you the space, but you can also let yourself in and familiarize yourself with the space on your own if you prefer.

The best way to get here and get around while you are here is to have your own car. There is street parking around the property detailed in the house manual and getting here documents.

It is about a 15 minute ride down to Malibu and the rest of West LA by the PCH, and about 20 minutes to go the other way to the San Fernando Valley and the rest of LA by the 101 freeway.

It is possible to take an Uber or Lyft but it can often be hard to get a car because there aren't always drivers in the canyon and sometimes they are hesitant to come up this way. Expect it to take longer than usual to get a ride.

Parking:
• The front driveway has two parking spots, but availability cannot be guaranteed.
• Ample street parking is available near the property, with details on where to park provided in the house manual after booking.

Stairs:
• There are three sets of steps leading down to the room. Please note that the first and last sets currently do not have railings.

Cellular Service:
• Cellular service is unavailable in this area. However, a mesh Wi-Fi system with fast speeds covers the entire property. By enabling “Wi-Fi Calling” on your phone, you should be able to use your device as usual once connected to the Wi-Fi.

Landscaping:
• Landscaping is a work in progress. We appreciate your patience as we continue to beautify the space.

Pet Policy:
• Cats: Up to 2 indoor-only cats are allowed.
• Dogs: 1 dog is permitted, with a maximum weight of 40 lbs.
• Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times when outside the room, as the property has limited space for them to roam and play.
• Cleanliness: Please pick up all outdoor waste and promptly clean any indoor messes with an odor-neutralizing cleaner. These should not be left for the cleaning staff.
• Other Pets & Exceptions: For any other pets or special requests, please contact us prior to booking.
- Do not share entry PIN with anyone but registered guests. Please always lock the front gate behind you manually when entering the property, and when leaving, hold the checkmark button to lock it.
- Amenities like the hot tub and beach day kit are shared between both listings on the property and are first come first served.
- Smoking is allowed but keep it outside only.
- Please be respectful of neighbors and other guests. Quiet time is 10pm-9am.
- We use a septic system. Do not flush anything besides toilet paper.
- No unregistered guests or parties.
- Don't leave food outside unless you want to feed the ants, raccoons and bobcats.

Zen Den was a perfect location! 20 minutes to Santa Monica, 15 minutes to the beach and already in the hills/mountains. The apartment and grounds are beautiful--a true retreat. Loved everything about the place. Cell service is spotty that high up in the canyon, but the apartment offers WiFi (occasionally spotty). Owner lives on the property and is a nice guy, ready and willing to make sure your stay is great. Highly recommend!"

Family bookings: we have listed under the booking rules that we do not accept babies/children since we have some decor which is not well-suited for kids as well as a high-end white couch that could be stained. If you would still like to book, we are happy to welcome you, but please note that you will be fully responsible for any damaged/broken items or stained furniture, which may be quite pricey (and could exceed the deposit).

The Creekside Trailer is your perfect escape. This is a truly "Topangan" guest house that uses hippie inspired creativity that made the 1960’s the magical era that they were.

Part 1950's Pontiac vintage trailer, part "tree house". We’re situated on a seasonal creek making this home a one of a kind getaway experience.
The magical space is a climate controlled tiny home which includes a great room with a twin sized day bed that boasts floor to ceiling windows overlooking the seasonal creek , a compact full functioning kitchen with a built in dining area, a cozy sleeping cabin with a full size memory foam bed, and finally a full sized bathroom with plenty of hot water for a shower/tub and a bidet toilet.

Included are two private outdoor spaces for your enjoyment; a covered patio with a love seat situated by the calming sounds of a fountain and a deck off of the great room with a bistro table and lounger perfect for open air deck dining that sits above and alongside the creek. Sorry, we do not offer a TV so unplug from urban life and enjoy a glass of wine and an al fresco dinner listening to vintage records from local Topanga artists (or your own music) on the Bluetooth enabled turntable. We also have a guitar (that we tune occasionally) that is your to play plus many classic wood board games to enjoy while hearing the owls, frogs and other critters.

The Creekside Trailer is centrally located to the heart of Topanga with dining local favorites like The Inn of the Seventh Ray and Canyon Bistro just a quick walk away.

We’re also steps away from the Topanga State Park trailheads making your getaway activities such as hiking or mountain biking so much easier since you can leave your car parked next to the house and enjoy all that Topanga Canyon has to offer.

Finally, the Creekside Trailer is extremely private but on a shared property with the main house. The dedicated entry path leads you to the trailer and once you're settled in; fences, landscaping, trellises and the seasonal creek will make you feel as if you're the only people here.

Enjoy a cozy studio unit newly remodeled and furnished as of 2019. Please note, this cabin and the surrounding outdoor area is surrounded by fencing, but there are 2 other cabins on the property.

Enjoy the full kitchen with everything you need to cook at home. Bar seating for two at the kitchen counter plus a cozy corner nook with custom bench seating. Or enjoy the yard or patio under the oak trees with views of the Topanga hillside.

Guests have private access to all spaces shown in the photos. The Crystal Cabin is enclosed by a fence, so the outdoor seating, hammock, front of the building, and all indoor spaces are exclusively for you. The washer/dryer is shared with the "Chime House" next door.

Our manager Sara is always available for any questions, and eager to provide the best stay possible.

Topanga is perfectly located just far enough outside of LA to feel like you're in a different world than the bustling city, but close enough that you can drive to Santa Monica in twenty minutes, or Universal Studios in under thirty minutes.
The house is just off of the main road, so a quick trip to any of the charming coffee shops and breakfast/lunch/dinner spots nearby, as well as the town center. And if you don't want to leave because you're so cozy, you can now even order delivery from Postmates.
The beach is just down the hill, and is a surfer's destination, so if that's your thing, this is a great spot.
And of course, the miles and miles of hikes just out the back door make this spot an ideal destination for the adventurous.

She provided excellent directions, including a heads up about the steep driveway. She was very responsive and even offered a great recommendation for sunset viewing areas. The location is perfect, very close to the beach. The main entrance to Topanga State Park is just down the road, or you can hike up behind the cabin if you like. Would definitely stay here again!"

The Unique Treehouse Oasis is nestled in an old oak tree overlooking a seasonal waterfall. While the trailer has a bit of an old-school cabin feel, it was very clean and well prepared for me. The owner even goes to the extra step of saging the space before your arrival. The owner was very communicative, helpful, and available for whatever I needed. I appreciated her preparation emails sent in advance, advising me on how to get there, where to park, and how things worked. This is a perfect location to unplug and enjoy a nature experience!"

Peaceful 1 bedroom apartment with full kitchen and full bath! This home features a large living room with generous windows, a queen pillow-top mattress and a little outdoor space with table + chairs. Additionally, there are lovely private trails and creeks on the property for you to explore stunning canyon scenes. We're a short distance from public hikes, nature reserves and Topanga town, only 2 minutes down the road.

THE SPACE:
This creative Suite is spacious and comfortable, with lots of windows. Amenities include a queen bed, full kitchen with a new fridge, bathtub and shower. This is a place to think, to create, to write, to read, to power down from all the usual daily distractions and just be.

We have a brand new wireless router with extremely fast WIFI at 85mb per sec. We also have a new, very reliable tankless hot water heater that never runs out of hot water for the bath/shower..

We provide all basic needs except toiletries. There is a French press and hot water kettle inside the unit.

You will be nestled in a 13 acre mountain village with other cottages, forests and mountains. You’d never know you were anywhere near a city! This apartment is attached to the main house unit and is more secluded at the very end of the structure.

Visiting this property is a very unique experience, some describe it as “glamorous camping”. No extensive photo taking, NO PARTIES, NO LOUD MUSIC, quiet time after 9pm, Dogs are welcome for a $18 fee per pet, per night. Cats are not okay for their own safety and allergy restrictions. Dogs are not permitted to be left unattended during your stay. If it causes a disturbance, a $25 fine will be implemented. $40 fee for loud music or excessive noise.

Welcome to the Farmhouse, a cozy studio retreat nestled in the Topanga hills. This inviting space features a comfy queen canopy bed, en-suite bath, and a kitchenette for light meals.

The room opens onto a private deck and patio, perfect for waking up with the singing birds, and an outdoor clawfoot tub for a relaxing soak under the trees.

Enjoy easy access to local attractions including cafes and restaurants, village shops, hiking trails with breathtaking views, and Malibu beaches.l

The space
The property has three different spaces, the main house where I live that you will see upon entering the gate and going down the front steps. At the bottom of the stairs, you will pass the front door and continue on to the pathway to the left that leads out to the hot tub deck and a breathtaking view.

Down the stairs to the left from there is the Zen Den, a room that is rented separately (zendentopanga dot com). There is a good chance there are other guests staying there so please allow them privacy if they are in the room.

The Farmhouse is a guesthouse further down in the garden at the bottom of the property and detached from the main house. The guesthouse has its own separate patio and deck space which is private to this room, but visible from The Zen Den's space. The clawfoot tub is around the corner of the Farmhouse and provides more privacy as it is not visible from the rest of the yard.

Since there is another room on the property, there is always the possibility that there will be a cleaner, gardener, me, or other maintenance person in the yard, laundry room, or other areas in the yard during the day but this will usually be kept between 11am and 4pm and always minimized as much as possible.

Guest access
Full access to the guesthouse, private kitchenette and full private bathroom. The deck and small patio outside the Farmhouse is for your exclusive use, as is the clawfoot bathtub.

The rest of the backyard, including the hot tub, is considered shared and the other room and its patio are in close proximity so total privacy in the garden should not be expected.

The hot tub is free to use on a first come first served basis, but is not used frequently so I have not implemented any kind of reservation system for private time or had any conflicts over it's use. Please note that it is in an open area that is also a walk way down to both rooms and visible from my home, so other people could walk by at any time when they are around or going to their room.

Parking:
• The front driveway has two parking spots, but availability cannot be guaranteed.
• Ample street parking is available near the property, with details on where to park provided in the house manual after booking.

Stairs:
• There are three sets of steps leading down to the room. Please note that the first and last sets currently do not have railings.

Cellular Service:
• Cellular service is unavailable in this area. However, a mesh Wi-Fi system with fast speeds covers the entire property. By enabling “Wi-Fi Calling” on your phone, you should be able to use your device as usual once connected to the Wi-Fi.

Landscaping:
• Landscaping is a work in progress. We appreciate your patience as we continue to beautify the space.

Pet Policy:
• Cats: Up to 2 indoor-only cats are allowed.
• Dogs: 1 dog is permitted, with a maximum weight of 40 lbs.
• Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times when outside the room, as the property has limited space for them to roam and play.
• Cleanliness: Please pick up all outdoor waste and promptly clean any indoor messes with an odor-neutralizing cleaner. These should not be left for the cleaning staff.

El matador is a gorgeous beach with natural arches for a timeless California beach day, as well as Leo Carillo state beach.

in Topanga we recommend the Inn of the Seventh Ray, Hidden Treasures (super funky vintage shop) and the lovely waterfall @ Jalan Jalan imports, all only a few minutes drive.

Amazingly it's less than a twenty minute drive to Santa Monica (10 fwy), Malibu or Calabasas (101 fwy), and half hour to Hollywood & downtown la.

Enjoy the cool canyon breezes and picturesque view of Topanga Canyon. The Topanga area is a country oasis close to the beach providing a getaway from the city. We are adjacent to the 11,000 acre Topanga State Park, the largest wilderness park within city limits in the United States.

The space
The suite is a modern unit that has a full bath, kitchenette, microwave, Keurig coffee maker, induction cooking system, refrigerator, and toaster. The bed is top class and the HDTV provides YouTube and Amazon Video. Also included is access to your own subscriptions like Starz, HBO, etc. There is a split-leaf dinette table in the unit and a glass and iron dinette table on your own private covered patio.

Guest access
You will have access to the entire bottom floor of the duplex. This private suite is reached by a romantic set of sweeping stairs fabricated with Canyon rock. The private pathway and balcony are automatically lit at night with Malibu Lighting. Once checked in, you don't need to interact with the host for egress and ingress to the unit. Thus, social distancing is easily maintained.

Other things to note
This area is a mecca for hiking, mountain biking, and mountain climbing. In addition, we have a top-rated bike shop in Topanga called the Topanga Creek Outpost. It is located right below the Topanga State Park on Topanga Canyon Blvd. The park features 76 miles of trails that can be used by mountain bikes. Moreover, the Topanga Creek Outpost rents mountain bikes and other gear at very reasonable rates.


The mountainous roads are great for road cycling and are used as a training ground for numerous professional cycling teams. Since we are only 4 miles from the beach, and just up from Surfrider beach, surfing and beach activities are a constant source of fun in our area. And don't forget the great fishing to be had in our area. Finally, for motorcyclists looking for a nice area to ride, you'll find all you'll need here, in addition to being a short trip away from the Rock Store.

Topanga means "above the clouds". High up in the heavenly SM mountains! Friendly dogs are most welcome! Enjoy your morning coffee/tea, or a glass of wine at dusk with spectacular mountain views from your own private deck just outside your room, a separate small apt. 1 block from the trailhead or a 10 min drive to Topanga St. Pk. (no dogs allowed in TSP!) NOTE: We are at the northern side of the canyon and were not impacted by the January 2025 wildfires. It is green & lovely up here right now!

Our studio apartment is clean, neat, tidy, colorful, rustic and comfortable. This is Topanga....we are outside in the country and our doors are wide open most of the time, so if you are looking for a bit of paradise hiding in the middle of LA County, this may be the perfect place for you! Wake up to the roosters crowing and the birds chirping! Go to sleep listening to the owls hooting and the frogs croaking! Maybe even hear the coyotes howling during the night!!!
NOTE: There is no maid service during your stay however extra sheets and towels are provided for guest's use.

Other things to note
The Highway #27 between the village and PCH is recently reopened (sometimes with restrictions during certain nighttime hours - this is constantly changing so be sure to check updated road conditions) after recent long-time closures due to mudslides after the Jan. wildfires. (Fires did not reach our area, nor come close to us). There is also easy direct access to our place and all the businesses in the canyon from the valley (North) side of the mountain, off the #101 freeway. Cell phone usage is sketchy at best up here when you are driving around. Once you are here however, we do have a verizon booster so if you are on verizon, you will be fine and of course we have good WIFI. Also, there are NO STREET LIGHTS up here at all, so if it is your first time in Topanga Canyon and you plan to arrive after dark, just know it may take you a bit longer as you navigate our curving roads. This space is underneath the main house which is on the second floor so you will sometimes hear both canine and human activity, smell our cooking or hear our music/TV. NOTE: GUEST'S DOGS MAY NEVER BE LEFT IN THE UNIT OR THE YARD/GARDEN UNATTENDED. Be sure to enter and exit driveway to eastern side of the driveway (closest to the mailbox) as the curb is higher on the western side and we want to protect the undercarriage of your vehicle. NOTE: There are no windows in the unit, only glass doors. There is central air and heat and a portable fan and space heater. IF you do use the fan or heater please be sure to unplug other appliances first otherwise you may flip the circuit breakers. Should this happens, just let us know and will flip them for you after you unplug the extra items.
It gets bright and light in the mornings in this unit which is east and south facing even with the shade down and curtains drawn, so if you are someone who likes a darker room in the morning, we recommend you bring a sleep mask with you.
Note: We are way up in the mountains and are not walking distance to the Village so you likely will need a car or at least a bicycle.

The space
Perched up on a hill next to our home; the tiny surfer’s ocean-inspired cabana itself is very tiny at only 120 square feet. Surrounded 360 degrees by mountains make it feel spacious in a magical way only those who stay here can describe. It was built in the 1940s as a “bunkhouse”. We kept the original structure in tact because we love the character of it's vintage cottage features mixed with modern comfort and amenities. This is a perfect place for healing, rest, rejuvenation, holistic health, and meditation; for healthy people and people experiencing dis-ease alike, surfers, hikers, city slickers looking to get out of the city, artists and healers. We welcome ocean enthusiasts, motorcycle/bicycle riders and nature lovers of all kinds. A place for creative expression as well, with an artists’ porch for painting, or working with other mediums, overlooking the mountains. The space is a popular short-term respite for travelers going up and down the California coast, as well as those who wish to stay longer for sabbatical away from the stress and complexities of modern life. When you stay here, you find simplicity in the small space, for healing. Practitioners of all kinds are welcome. The Tiny Surfer's Ocean-Inspired cabana is surprisingly popular for expecting mamas and their partners for babymoon holidays ~ we think it's because of our no alcohol, no smoking nor drugs policy. It is a small space, good for going within or using space minimally and decluttering from the hectic-ness of everyday life. The kitchenette doubles as a living space. The bed doubles as a living area. The cabana has shorter ceilings and may not be ideal for taller folks. Tiny house living gives you the opportunity to release your need for materialism, slows the endless stream of crowded thoughts and brings freedom from consumerism, which fills many of our lives today.

Our tiny cabana has it's own private entrance and indoor space with it's own private front porch which doubles as an art studio. The outdoor shower and backyard patio are also private. We plan on finishing up the art studio as soon as the cabana is not booked for a weekend, but it has been booked for every weekend since we started on AirBnB! The backyard patio is overlooking the mountains that will be reserved for only your use during your stay. The patio is entered from our shared deck overlooking the mountains.

Other things to note
The ceilings are low, so our cabana is not suggested for taller folks. The bathroom door is actually an artistically shredded curtain, so the cabana is not ideal for first impressions, first dates, people just getting to know each other nor modest folks.

The cabana is above our house on the highest part of our yard, our side yard. It was built along our property line next to a fence that divides our yard and our neighbor's yard. The neighbor's driveway is on the other side of the fence so you may occasionally hear people talking or getting in/out of their cars from inside the cabana or while sitting on the porch, patio or deck facing the mountains. We are not secluded; we do have neighbors on both sides and across the street.

Gardening services for our yard and our neighbors' yards happens on Monday mornings. We do not use loud leaf blowers with guests here, but some of our neighbors do. There is occasional noise from gardening or neighbors around the area doing construction or remodeling homes. During springtime, we are required to cut all weeds out of our yards due to fire safety, so you may hear weed wacking from May-June in the canyon. If you have never been to Topanga or lived in an urban/rural mountain setting, you should know that noise in the mountains carries easily through the canyon. For example, if our neighbors down the canyon have on loud music, or are having a party, we can hear it. I do say that most of the time, it's quite a quiet place here compared to all other parts of Los Angeles. The occasional birthday party in the canyon actually sounds like children laughing or people talking joyously in the canyon with some nice music playing in the background. Especially in the summer here, it can be quite festive. Topanga Canyon is a very happy place, filled with peaceful, happy people. For the most part, the canyon is very quiet after sundown.

The cabana is a great place for working on creative pursuits: i.e., painting, drawing, sculpting, writing, etc. We have had visitors for healing retreats, girls’ spa getaways, mom's night in, romantic nature-loving couples, babymoon couples (just before baby is born), artists, writers, and active outdoorsy types. We attract a lot of pregnant women and expecting fathers for their "babymoon" holidays and holistic health professionals are a great fit because we promote healing and health with our alcohol-free, no drugs nor smoking policy. This keeps the healing energies of the cabana aligned with the surrounding nature, which is very healing. We treat the cabana like a healing spa retreat so there is purposely no tv, but there is WiFi.

Lovely rustic cottage nestled under oak trees. This unique home features a full outdoor kitchen and bath. It's perfect for folks who love glamorous camping in a natural canyon environment.

The space
This charming wooden cottage with a lovely outside covered wooden deck feels like you are floating in an oak forest. Two creeks meet down below. This unique cottage was actually taken from a Japanese Gardens, and re-constructed here. The upstairs has a large bed and is very spacious, with the lovely rafters nearby overhead. There is a second bed downstairs which accompanies a wrap around couch and table.

Amenities included: highspeed WIFI, separate private bath with a tankless water heater that never runs out of hot water, full kitchen, 2 x queen beds, large sofa and many windows!

We provide all basic needs except toiletries. There is a French press and hot water kettle inside the unit.


Although very private, this cottage is located in a retreat type property minutes from the center of Topanga, CA. Here you'll have plenty of privacy, peace and quiet to enjoy nature- you'd never know you were anywhere near Los Angeles. The downstairs features a Brazilian Cumuru hardwood floor which, believe it or not, came from Jennifer Aniston's home!

Climb up a wooden stair case through a hobbit door to enter in a very large bedroom area with beautiful wooden rafters and a queen size bed. There is a separate free standing bathroom with a full bath a few steps from the house. It features beautiful wooden walls and tranquil vibes. We are really in NATURE here - these are older cottages hand-built by artists in the forest. They are very rustic! It's like living in a mountain village, with other cottages nearby. While we work very hard to keep our places pristine and spotless - if anyone in your party will faint if they see a bug or lizard, mouse or little frog inside, some dust or a spider web - then this probably isn't the place for you. Please be very careful booking cottages for someone else - like your parents just arriving from another continent - they might prefer something more conventional.

Some folks describe our places as a luxurious form of camping. We make our cottages very comfortable - they have all the basics - electricity - wifi - most have kitchens, bath or shower and comfy clean beds. But they are not like a hotel with perfect walls and a sterile atmosphere. Please look at all the pictures and read all the reviews. We can't offer refunds just because we don't meet the standards of a normal hotel. Most people are charmed by this idyllic and bohemian lifestyle - but it's not for everyone.

It is highly recommended that you have a car to get around. We are nestled in the middle of Old Topanga Canyon.
Los Angeles and it’s surrounding areas have great public transportation and Uber and Lyft do come in and out of the canyon but a car is a must given our proximity to outside areas.

This unique space has a private entrance, an octagon beam ceiling, a handcrafted queen-size bed, a writer’s corner, a meditation area, a fireplace, and a secluded back porch with stunning canyon views. ***Please read the important details below about the house before booking!

The space
In our guesthouse, you will be centrally located to many outdoor activities and local attractions. Take a hike down the Topanga State park that starts right at the doorsteps of the house. Take a short drive and hike to Labyrinth at Tuna Canyon, go horseback riding at Old Topanga 5mins away, bike along the Topanga Canyon blvd, grab lunch at Topanga's signature Cafe Mimosa or Cafe 27, or dine at the elegant Inn of the Seventh Ray - all only a couple of minutes away from the house. The infamous Topanga Beach is only 6 minutes away drive, and Saturday Farmer's market at Calabasas is 12 mins away.

We are in the midst of State Park and wildlife happens right outside of the house: read bobcats, coyotes, deers, snakes, spiders, mice, and ants. If you leave doors open the wildlife may sneak into the house.

Guesthouse parking is located on a private road - you will have to drive 0.1 mi uphill on an unpaved road and park your car. If you're uncomfortable with driving and parking on such a road - please don't book our place.

We don't have a sewage system in Topanga and we kindly ask our guests to throw used toilet paper in the designated trash bins (which we empty into compost as they fill up during your stay).

The guesthouse has two levels: a bedroom on the second floor and a Kitchenette with the bathroom - on the first. They get connected via a treehouse-like ladder, that you have to climb quite often during your stay. If you're uncomfortable about climbing pretty steep stair, please don't book our place.

The guesthouse shares a wall with the main house on the first floor (where the kitchenette and bathroom are). We have small kids in the main house that may occasionally and uncontrollably produce noise. If this may bother you please don't book our place.

Guest access
You’ll have full, private access to the guesthouse during your stay. This includes the bedroom, kitchenette, bathroom, and a secluded back porch where you can relax and enjoy the canyon views. The guesthouse has its own private entrance, so you can come and go as you please. You’ll also have access to the nearby hiking trails right from the property, perfect for exploring the natural beauty of Topanga. Parking is available on a private road close to the house.

Your private sanctuary is nestled in scenic Topanga Canyon. The studio has a private deck with stunning views of the glorious mountains and forestry. 15 minutes from the beach. 5 minutes from the town of Topanga. This bright and beautiful newly renovated studio has everything a guest could ask for. Queen bed, shower/tub, full air bed, T.V. , wi-fi, double hot plate, Microwave/air fryer. Refrigerator, espresso machine, and so much more. Please note 3rd guest will stay in an airbed.

Guest access
Guests can access property on the lower driveway which has stairs leading up to the apartment. Washer/ dryer located on left side of property. This apartment has its own patio and entrance. The driveway is steep and it is recommended to back in slowly near the wall. This is Topanga so you are in a wooded area.

Other things to note
Topanga Canyon is in a mountainous. wooded area. There are various animals you may encounter such as peacocks, roosters , possums, skunks, coyotes and the occasional mountain lion from afar. Wild animals normally stay away from humans. Including snakes however this is a wooded area so you need to be in touch with your surroundings.

Walk to Topanga Village from this furnished newly remodeled 1 bedroom plus office with views of canyon surrounded by native flower garden and peaceful ranch.
