Guest Reviews:

- "Enjoyed the stay" - "The property was really cute. The host was super kind and helpful. There was a super bright light outside that made it hard to sleep, but the host did leave a sleep mask. " - "Great time very clean and quiet " - "Great host and property " - "My husband and I booked a last minute getaway and thankfully able to book a night in this sweet little a-frame cabin. After arriving we were greeted by Angela (the host) who lives full time next door. She was so incredibly friendly (we even ended up exchanging numbers and became friends) and made us feel extremely welcome and comfortable. I typically steer away from renting a vacation home that is so close to the host because I like privacy and worry that they might be in my business more then what's comfortable...that was definitely not the case here! We loved the location because it was near all the trails, reservoirs, rivers, and Hot Springs. It was the perfect central location. The cabin had everything we needed, and the bed was extremely comfortable. We really appreciated all the extras she provided like coffee, snacks and water. We will definitely stay here again and highly recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway with an exceptional host!"

Mckenzie River Cabin #13 at the Log Cabin Inn, screened porch, .5mi Trailhead
Cabin
McKenzie Bridge, Oregon, USA

Get your hearts and cameras ready for some wonderful family memories gathered while enjoying this beautiful new cabin, built right next to the historic "Hoover Cabin" where President Herbert Hoover frequented back in his day. Clarke Gable and the Duke of Windsor also visited the famous stage stop, restaurant and Inn, along with many others of notoriety. Wander the entire seven acres and hundreds of feet of Mckenzie River frontage as you soak in the beautiful surroundings. The grassy meadow offers a serene setting for laying out, hanging out with your favorite people or is ready for your impromptu game of frisbee football. Walk across Mckenzie Bridge and enjoy the Bier Garden of the Mckenzie General Store, featuring several micro-brews on tap and a surprising menu of lunch and dinner options fashioned at the Obsidian Grill. MGS offers live bands and movie nights along with many other themed entertainment events weekly throughout the summer. Also, right across the river is a boutique bar and grill experience called Mckenzie Station.
Takodas Resturaunt is just about 4 minutes west of the cabin and offers a great menu for all three meals, plus cocktails.
Blue Sky Market offers gas, propane, and groceries, plus supplies and prepared, ready to eat, foods.
Within about 2 miles, you could be hitting that long drive and making that curvy putt while enjoying the old growth trees and Three Sisters cascade mountain views at Tokatee Golf Club, rated as one of America's greatest public courses. There are at least three natural hot springs in the area for your soaking enjoying. Terwilliger Hot Springs, aka Cougar Hot Springs, is clothing optional and just 15 minutes from the cabin. Belknap hot springs offers a man made pool full of natural hot spring water, if something more conservative is in order. Plus, the benefit of the pool, is that you can actually swim in the hot water, instead of just soaking. Another, smaller, Spring is just upriver a few miles at Deer Creek Rd, but this one is for those who really want that "on the river, hot-spring experience" (this one is also clothing optional).
Take a drive upriver a few miles to Sahalie Falls and walk down the Mckenzie River Trail toward Carmin Reservoir. This is a short hike, but allows you to take in the wilder portions of the Mckenzie River near its beginnings just down from Clear Lake. Don't forget the camera.
Take the scenic drive up Hwy 242, the old Mckenzie Pass, to the huge lava flows of Belknap Crater. You can go up into the lava stone tower and see nearly all of the Central Oregon Cascade Mountains. Sisters, a western style historic town just east of the mountain passes, is just an hour from the cabin. Annually, there is a huge Sisters Quilt Show and the famous Sisyers Rodeo takes place every June.
Hoodoo Ski Bowl is just half an hour from the cabin and offers snow skiing, snow boarding, snowmobiling, snow-shoeing and tubing for the kid in you. The tubing park is great for family time and the auto rope pull back up the hill allows you to enjoy the kids all day long without wearing yourself out.
The famous Mckenzie River Trail is about 26 miles from just about half a mile from the cabin to up above Clear Lake. Hikers and Mountain Bikers love this trail, but so do fishing enthusiasts who love fishing from hole to hole as they walk casually upriver.
Stop in at the Ranger Station for area maps to all of the natural attractions of this scenic area.
Most importantly, take time for the re-creation of yourself and the re-connection with your loved ones in this perfect setting for both.
The cabin is fully equipped with all appliances and furnishings. There is a bedroom with private bath downstairs offering a king size bed and another bedroom with full bath upstairs offering two twins. A queen sized inflatable mattress can also be made available if necessary. Please advise us when you book.

It's hard to get any closer to the river without getting wet!
This beauty has a huge covered porch that sits right on the river's edge and a dining nook with that same perspective. In fact, you still feel that close to the river in the large living room as you're enjoying a cozy fire in a real fireplace. There's also a large screen TV with satellite service.
There's a nicely equipped kitchen with full size appliances and a laundry room too.
The master bedroom is downstairs and it offers a king size bed.

Upstairs, there is another half bath and another bedroom with two twin size beds.
The couch in the living room is a sleeper sofa, so this house can take as many as 6 guests.

Make sure you hike the Mckenzie River Trail. It is 26 miles of wonder and beauty stretched along the Mckenzie Hwy 126 all the way to Fish Lake, but you can easily take it in series of shorter hikes. Try the section between Sahalie Falls and Carmen Reservoir for something spectacular if you only want a small hike. The jaunt to the Blue Pool is also fairly easy, but watch your step as you progress through an ancient lava flow along the way.
The fishing is out of this world and you can definitely fish all day right from our shore, but there are many qualified and pleasant guides available for your maximum fishing experience.
Try a white water rafting trip with High Country Expeditions -- they offer half and full day adventures.
Soak in one of three hot springs and dine in our three local restaurants.

We are located in the preferred area, far from the highway and its all river sound -- nothing else.
We're also on the edge of the Willamette National Forest and The Three Sisters Wilderness area.
Terwilliger (Cougar) Hot Springs is just 15 minutes close.
Deer Creek Hot Springs is just 10 minutes close.
Belknap Hot Springs is just 8 minutes close.
Tokatee Golf Course is within just a few miles away and is one of the highest regarded public courses in the country.
The steelhead and salmon runs are real. The trout are huge too. Get a guide or ask Jonathan where to fish from the shore.
There are more hiking trails than you can possibly hike, including the famous "Mckenzie River Trail" -- extending over 30 miles from Mckenzie Bridge (just 3 miles) to Fish Lake.
Make sure you see Sahalie Falls, Koosah Falls, and Tamolitch Falls (The Blue Pool) -- all just 20 minutes from the cabin.
Cougar and Blue River Reservoirs are located with 15 minutes of the cabin.
Make sure you see the lava flows of the Old Pass 242 in the summer months. Look up Dee Wright Observatory.
There are three wonderful restaurants within 3 miles and a great little store with gas and diesel available too.
The Mckenzie General Store and Obsidian Grill offer live music twice a week in the summer months and every so often in the off season. -- check them out for sure!
Hoodoo Ski Bowl is just 45 minutes east for great winter time snow activities like skiing (both cross country and downhill), snowboarding, and sledding. Hoodoo even offers night sking with fully lit runs. Snow mobiling on endless logging roads is another fun winter activity we enjoy.
This cabin and it's intimate riverside experience may be exactly all you want -- even though there's plenty to do -- that's why we know you'll be back many times.
Jonathan and Lisa live in the area and are available for any other questions you have, including suggestions for adventures and dining.

Guest Reviews:

- "Absolutely great cabin. Magnificent spot overlooking white water McKenzie river. Traditional mountain decore with modern updated kitchen. For us, perfect stay, thank you." - "Great setting! Beautiful." - "Our family of five had a great time at the house. It was as described and pictures are accurate. They are not trying to be a five star hotel with luxury accommodations. It was clean and comfortable. We found it relaxing eating on the porch listening to the river. Beautiful hikes all within a half hour from cottage. Cell service gets spotty after leaving the house so plan your outings while still at the cottage. One thing to consider before arriving if you plan to cook meals, you may want to buy groceries at a major grocery store closer to the interstate. Little marts close by but not ideal for longer stays."

Guest Reviews:

- "Outstanding location, I came with the intention of relaxing and "checking out" which it was perfect for. This cabin has got to be the best location on site, I spent hours on the patio listening to the river! The kitchen is so well stocked, anything you could need to cook is there. Downstairs bed was very comfortable and I made use of the oil diffuser, which was a nice touch. My only suggestion is that it would be nice to have a binder with a bit more information about the property, procedures, things to do in the surrounding area, etc. As I was there for a full week, I was unsure of what to do with the garbage and am used to nightly rentals requiring you to strip the beds, take out the trash, etc. The stay was lovely and I'd definitely book this cabin again in an instant!"

Guest Reviews:

- "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cabin nestled in the trees overlooking Horse Creek. The outdoor kitchen and bath house are a bonus to this beautiful setting. The bath house has 2 private outdoor showers, which overlook the creek. There is also a full bath inside the cabin. We spent most of our time sitting on the fully screened back porch listening to the creek. The kitchen and outdoor kitchen are both well stocked with cookware and utensils. For outside, it would have been nice to have a BBQ grill, but the camp cookstove w/griddle type grill worked great for cooking chicken. The bath house includes a sauna. But we couldn't get it to heat up. Bring your own games and books as there are no games and limited books available. The cabin was clean and in good condition. It could use a good cobweb cleaning, though. Both beds were comfortable with nice linens. There were plenty of towels and hot water!!! Be sure to bring your own toiletries. There is a very peaceful vibe on the property. Enjoy a walk through the old growth forest, spend time meditating or doing yoga in the yurt. Take in the serene beauty of it all. If you are looking for a quiet, off the grid cabin, this place is for you!!! The only noise you will hear is the rippling creek. We had such a wonderful time and Steve is a great host."

Guest Reviews:

- "Great location and property. Very friendly propert manager" - "This was such a lovely short weekend away in the quaint little cottage. The river is just unbelievably beautiful, we spent hours outside. The little towns are lovely and close. There are 3-4 good places to hit up and we went to them all. Tokatee is also awesome and has good food and atmosphere even if you don't golf. The cabin is not isolated in that there are a few houses right next to it and a campground just a few hundred feet away but we felt far away from everything, which was exactly what we were hoping. Great spot, highly recommend. "

- "Very clean and nice place in an old building. Had a lovely stay right in the heart of Uptown. Looking forward to my next stay here." - "My kids and I used this as a base of exploration of the Willamette valley. The spacious apartment worked great, we could relax after a long hike in the living room while watching a movie. Each child had a bed, they really liked the extra fluffy blankets. The kitchen allowed us to eat breakfast and prepare lunches without having to get out of PJs. The kitchen also gave me a place to work in the morning before they awoke. The location in central Oakridge made it ideal to walk to the restaurants, cafe and pub. From here we could easily reach many trailheads in short drives, or a walk out of town. The apartment fit all my families needs for a week long vacation."

BrewPub Bungalow #1: Clean, Comfy, Convenient!
Apartment
Oakridge, Oregon, USA

Welcome to an upscale rental in the heart of Oakridge. The renovated apartment is located above the 3-Legged Crane Brewery & Restaurant, with great views of the town and local mountains. Walk across the street to our quaint public library; feel safe, the police station is right there too. Both Units (1 & 2) are spacious and bright; containing plenty of thoughtful touches along with high-quality furnishings, and appliances. You will find them comfortable, charming, convenient, and impeccable.

Bungalows #1 and #2 are 2nd-floor apartments that benefit from southern exposure; #1 is the brighter of the two having an additional sunny-side window. The entrances for both are adjacent and isolated from the units in the rear of the building. As such they are often rented in combination to accommodate larger groups.

There are differences:

#1: Tiled bathroom/shower, no tub, no TV, full-size fridge, view from living space and bedroom.
#2: Pull-out couch, Bathtub/shower, TV in the bedroom, small fridge/freezer, view from bedroom.

These units have a dishwasher. A free shared-access washer and dryer located in the hallway. Detergent is provided for both.

A keycode access bike storage closet is shared between units and your host; the entrance is video monitored. Cable locks are provided if you wish to use them.

I live in an apartment in the rear of the building and am generally available to answer questions and fulfill requests during your stay.

Should you be planning adventures in the region both units contain large wallmaps. Should you just be passing through, they have everything you need.

As these units are above the BrewPub there is occasionally live music. It does not go past closing time at 10 p.m but mostly ends a bit earlier, especially on Thursdays. A schedule is kept on their website that is generally accurate at least a month out. When this is happening the sound is best described as "muffled." Unit #2 is the quieter of the two. Oakridge also has a train that passes through, which can be heard from just about anywhere including the Bungalows. If this is not acceptable then maybe consider another place.

Cog Wild's Oakridge Cottage: 2bd, 1bath & garage
House
Oakridge

Located in Uptown Oakridge, this SMALL 2 bedroom, 1 bath house is an ideal base for year round recreation on the Willamette National Forest.

The house was built in the 1950s, we keep it clean and well maintained but it's an older house and not fancy at all.

We love our little place for the access to recreation in all directions. Ride bikes from the house, catch a shuttle from Cog Wild's headquarters or stroll Uptown for food & beverage.

The space
This small house is not fancy; just a clean, simple place. The open, south facing living room has a smart TV with an apple tv box so you can access your own media streaming accounts. The wifi router is in the living room so you can plug in directly if you plan to work remotely. The wifi service is 40 mpgs, which has worked well for our family to teach and learn virtually.

There are two bedrooms, each with a queen bed, and one tiny bathroom with a shower stall.

There is a portable air conditioner and a fan in each bedroom.

The kitchen is newly remodeled and well equipped for cooking meals: plenty of pots and pans, serving dishes, even a crock pot so you can have hot food after your adventure. There is a standard drip coffee machine and a french press. There is no dishwasher.

Off the back of the house is a deck overlooking the backyard with views across to Larison Ridge. After your summer adventure, grill out on the deck and enjoy the fading light or relax in a hammock strung between big old oak trees. The garage below the house has a washer and dryer and is perfect for bike and gear storage.

Pets are welcome with prior consent from the owner. The back yard is fenced in and there are many easy dog walks from the house. Towels to wipe off muddy paws are provided. Reservations with pets will be charged a pet cleaning fee of $35 per stay.

The house is in Uptown Oakridge and is about as urban as this little rural town gets. Expect to hear neighbors, cars driving on roads and the train, which passes through the center of town. There are ear plugs in the medicine cabinet.

Guest access
Access to the entire house, garage, fenced in back yard and deck and parking spots out front.

Other things to note
Oakridge is in the process of building tourist infrastructure; please be patient. Thank you for spending money in Oakridge as it helps bolster the economy and allows local businesses to add to the services we all want & need to comfortably recreate in the region.

THE GROUNDS: Tired Dog Ranch is 18+ acres of diversity (woodland, pasture, meadow w/big fire pit, basketball court, horse shoe pit and corral), orchard, dwellings, lawn & Kitchen and Shower Shelter located right against the National Forest of the Cascade Range with walking and riding trails along the year round creek and into the level and sloped old growth forestland. Each dwelling's rustic elegance combines with convenient amenities and creates a fun mood to set Tired Dog Ranch apart from any other overnight accommodations you will find. Very unique, secluded and relaxing, TDR is nestled outside a quiet community that is yearly gaining speed as an outdoor recreational paradise. This is a farm/forest compound with 30+ free range chickens, farm cat (Kitty Bonkers), farm dogs named Simba (fat old border mix) and Buster (young big Pyrenees) and 5 horses. Due to Tired Dog Ranch's location (neighboring property is National Forest), wildlife abounds and on rare occasion may be so curious or bold to venture onto the 18-acre property (deer, elk, raccoons, skunk, bear, cougar, crow, eagle, hawk, etc.) so take care to protect yourself and others in your group while outdoors to make your stay safe and sound. I am happy to provide tips of the trade for cougar sightings and urge that you keep your kids and pets with you at all times during your stay. the "do's and don'ts" when encountering predator wildlife are posted in all dwellings for your reading pleasure.

Guest access
You are welcome to roam the entire parcel, but be respectful of the areas surrounding the other dwellings and keep migratory patterns to a reasonable hour, taking your play/party indoors in celebration of your time together and here on planet Tired Dog Ranch. I've been told this place is a vacuum, a vortex and funny little time sucker for the guest who really wants to shut out the rest of the world and hunker down to a good book or get lost in the tranquility of the surrounding meadow, woods, Gray Creek (west property line) or in the hammock under the fruit/nut orchard. Isn't that what the doctor ordered? If you venture down to the pasture to visit the horses, please note that this is an equine facility and you must remain outside the fenced area. No access to the hen house allowed. Extra eggs are sold at $5.00/dozen if/when available. You are welcome to pitch out your compost (peels, food scraps other than chicken) and watch the chickens circle.

The Carriage "Hen" House has a middle and back section that is yours to utilize. There is a front workspace that myself or my housekeeper access - usually only when the dwelling is vacant, and between 11 am - 4 pm for prep of a dwelling. There are three other rental dwellings (Cascadian Cottage, Cowboy Cabin, Celestial Yurt) that are only to be entered by guests reserved in that dwelling.

There is a small fire pit next to your dwelling. Firewood can be purchased for $5/bundle and includes kindling, paper and a book of matches. Please provide 24 hour request. The BBQ is there for your use. BYO briquettes. Lighter fluid and lighter provided.

This dwelling entrance is the side door where you will enter the foyer with "wood stove" electric heater. The two interior doors are used to access the rear "studio" section with couch, table and chairs, stuffed chair, kitchen and BA w/toilet and shower (use kitchen sink for washing your person and dishes). The private bedroom w/50" TV, king bed, night stands, armoire, small dresser and secretary. The front section is a private work space with its own entrance so as to not disturb a dweller and is rarely accessed by the maid while guests are booked, and only during the day. No one is allowed in that room but myself and my housekeeper.

Other things to note
There is one other dwelling nearby (Celestial Yurt), three more to the east (my home and two other vacation dwellings), and an upper meadow that serves as a campsite in the summer on the southeast corner of the 18-acre parcel. Your entrance is the side door with awning. The front of the Carriage "Hen" House (work/storage space) is infrequently accessed exclusively by the cleaning personnel or myself). While the bedroom is located in the middle section and the "studio" section is facing north, overlooking the pasture of horses and sheep . Barring the occasional sound of slow moving vehicles (posted: 5 MPH) and the possible foot traffic of other guests traveling along the driveway, you are somewhat privately positioned in your own little space overlooking a pasture filled with beautiful and very friendly horses and sheep: Phileus Maximus is the bay draft mustang, Margarita is the Dunn Spanish Mustang, Lydia Santa Maria is the Grulla Spanish Mustang, Obie Won Kanobi is the mini Pinto, and One Eyed Sarah is the mini Mule, the sheep are Tidbit and Spot. My border collie is named Simba and my "pup" Great Pyrenees is named Buster Beuford. My tabby cat is Kitty Bonkers. Make up your own name for the chickens and roosters. Don't let any of the pets in your dwelling, but you are welcome to feed the chickens non-meat scraps.

FREE RANGE CHICKENS ALERT!!! This dwelling is closest to the chicken coop where approximately 25 free range chickens and a few roosters bustle around throughout the day after a rousing crowing session in the morning while waiting for their mama to open the door and let them out. I lock them up nightly and let them out mid-morning. They LOVE your scraps so have at it! Don't enter the hen house though, as the chickens need undisturbed time to lay your eggs. Never chase the chickens, as this riles up my dog's instincts to herd, and that can get a bit too rough.

This is a dog friendly place with a $15/pet per night charge - 2 pet maximum. Pay prior to or at arrival. That said, I expect all to show responsibility and respect for another's home and grounds. Two things to consider when deciding to bring your pet on your vacation: Can they remain ON leash? Can they remain OFF the furniture (including beds)? Will they remain with you at all times? If the answer to ALL of these questions is "YES", by all means bring them with you (maximum of 2 pets to a dwelling). If the answer to ANY of these questions is "NO", please leave your pet at home or in the care of another. This is not a boarding facility or dog park. If a chicken comes to its early demise due to your pet, there is an automatic $50 charge. Pick up your dog's poop and dispose of appropriately (sacks provided at dwelling). Also, Simba, my food whore of a border collie so don't leave a garbage or food sack outside, and my very curious cat, Kitty Bonkers, is very friendly though is a male so will mark if inside a strange place. Please don't let either of them in your dwelling and please don't feed Simba. He is getting fatter by the moment from guests' generous heart and will stroke out if fed anymore ;). Kitty Bonkers is a young tabby cat - a little squirrelly and very adorable. Loves to run up trees and skirt around. Buster, the pyrenees is still in training so will be on a leash whenever you see him. While I do have Simba off leash, he is a herding dog. Therefore do not rouse or chase the chickens, or Simba will want to herd them and in his rambunctiousness could hurt a chicken. That would be bad.

NO smoking anything (BBQ, e/cigarettes, herb) within 15 feet of the dwelling (that means NOT on the covered porch!). Please dispose of butts responsibly.

The wi-fi password is on a card on the console or on the back/bottom of the modem (near the TV) if someone tucked away the card.

Redsides Legacy Retreat—a riverfront studio!
Apartment
McKenzie River

The Redsides Legacy Retreat is a phoenix rising from the ashes of the Holiday Farm Fire of 2020. The main house burned, but this charming studio apartment remains to keep the beauty of the property alive. This studio has a king size bed, a full bathroom with tiled walk-in shower, and a hotel style kitchenette. It’s a perfect space for a couple on a restful weekend, or just passing through. River access makes it perfect for fishing, splashing or enjoying the view!

The space
This charming studio apartment is a second story dwelling above a garage. Guests will not have access to the garage but have full use of the apartment and the yard that extends all the way to the Mckenzie River. There is access to the river on a shallow side channel that meets the main channel in front of the property. It’s a beautiful spot for fishing, splashing or enjoying the gorgeous view! The fishing is great here where the channels come together, just down stream from where the South Fork flows in to the Mckenzie. It’s also the perfect place to put your kayaks in the river and have fun in the Redsides rapid just downstream from the house. It’s a class 3 rapid known as a play wave for experienced kayakers. The property burned in the Holiday Farm Fire of 2020 and continues to be a work in progress. The owners are bringing it back bit by bit as they can in order to restore the beauty. They ask that you leave things as you find them and honor their process. We ask that you avoid the foundation that remains in front of the studio for your own safety, but you are welcome to enjoy any other area of the yard and riverfront. There is a small outdoor dining area in front of the apartment with a table, chairs, and a small charcoal BBQ for use when the fire danger isn’t too high. The studio consists of a king size bed, a couple of dressers and an area to hang your clothes. There is a nice full bathroom with a beautiful tiled walk in shower. The kitchenette has a sink, microwave, mini-fridge, and a coffee maker as well as a small table for dining. There is plenty of seating and a small TV. It’s a cozy, unique space for two people and an approved pet to stay while enjoying our beautiful area or just passing through.

Our property is not fenced, so please always be aware of your dog's whereabouts. Our dog Cinder is friendly with all dogs and all people. However, she has a large bark and does not realize her size when she's excited. We have a young child so if your dog is not good with children, please keep them leashed.

We live in a very rural area. Occasionally we have power outages, internet bumps, or other unexpected inconveniences. Please be understanding and patient if we experience anything unexpected.

Dead Mountain Lodge / Dirt Dojo Northwest
House
Southern Oregon

Downstairs guest suite offers all the comforts of home, including high speed internet, streaming TV, kitchen and laundry facilities, refrigerator, A/C, wood stove, fire pit, and plenty of space for the whole family with three bedrooms, full bath, and cozy work spaces. Add-on availability for RV/tent camping for larger groups. Classroom/retreat/gathering space in the shop, with open air garage door access, internet and projector screen for movie night! Front door access to National Forest trails!

The space
PLEASE READ THIS DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY. This space is a three bedroom, one bath downstairs guest suite IN OUR MAIN HOUSE. The space is separated by an insulated staircase and locking barn door at the base of the staircase, on a working homestead. Think about your stay here as you would staying at a family member's home. Though we do our best to be quiet and courteous, you can expect to hear the television, appliances, coffee grinder, people and dogs. There may also be other guests camping on the property. The entire property is acres, ands surrounded by National Forest lands, and it feels like a lodge experience in the mountains.

AC/heat is provided by a forced air unit, but we keep a space heater handy for guests' convenience, and there is also a wood stove for those special nights in. We are happy to adjust the thermastat in your space ahead of your arrival or during your stay.

There are three bedrooms - a king and queen on the south side of the hallway, and an office/futon double bed in the third bedroom at the end of the hall, in the northwest corner. The heat pump is located just outside this window, so if you are more sensitive to noise, we recommend staying in one of the south bedrooms. There is an extra double bed futon and couch located in the kitchenette/LR area.

The kitchenette features two induction burners, microwave, toaster oven, full refridgerator and freezer, and all sorts of coffee making amenities (we love our coffee!). Laundry facilities are located in the shop - we can provide a code for your access on request.

During the warmer spring and summer months, there is lots of garden area seating and hammock nooks, along with onsite easy access for human-powered exploration into the Willamette National Forest. And if you're lucky, the local elk herd may come visit! The sunrises here are incredible - grab a cuppa joe and enjoy the show, or count the stars in a velvety dark sky after sunset. The views are stunning - day or night.

The best part about this space is that there are so many adventures to be had right out your front door! Not only is there plenty of space on the property to explore, but hiking and mountain biking are just minutes away with Dead Mountain/Flat Creek, Salmon Creek, Heckletooth and Aubrey Mountain trails nearby. From the driveway, it's a two mile easy pedal to the Three-Legged Crane Pub or the local disc golf course at Osprey Park. Powersports your thing? Rally uphill to Huckleberry Flats OHV area for miles of fun! Enjoy a late breakfast and a short 30 minute drive up Hwy. 58 to go skiing at Willamette Pass Ski Resort, Gold Lake Snow Park or snowshoe the otherwordly Salt Creek and Diamond Falls loop. Bring your SUP/canoe/kayak, and in just 45 minutes, paddle in the world renowned Waldo Lake Wilderness Area. Looking for whitewater adventure? The Middle Fork Willamette runs right through Oakridge and offers a perfect Class II experience for watersports enthusiasts of all levels, and the adrenaline junkies can challenge themselves on the Class IV/V Wild & Scenic designated North Fork, including the famous "Miracle Mile". The North Fork also boasts pristine swimming holes and world class fly fishing, or road/gravel cycling the Aufderheide Scenic Byway. Conquer a nearby mountain and summit Diamond Peak, or just bask in the quiet setting and beautiful views of Aubrey Mountain and Larison Ridge from our deck.

Guest access
We're easy to find, but GPS doesn't always make it obvious... the house is visible from the driveway entry, but we're set back from the road. This is a self check-in, and you’ll receive a door code ahead of your trip in your AirBnB inbox.

To access your space:
In winter, you’ll hdown past the main house towards the big yellow shop and park on the concrete pad in front of the RV Barn. You can follow the pathway under the deck of the main house to the front door to your space. In warmer months, turn right about 100 feet after entering the main driveway, onto the lower driveway and park in front of the wood shed. Follow the walkway next to the woodshed to your front door.

Other things to note
The local craft brew pub, Three-Legged Crane, is back down the hill, and an easy 2 mile pedal if you're looking for a little exercise. We do have a couple of old cruisers we are happy to make available for your use if you do not have your own bike. There are also lots of cute boutiques, art displays, a disc golf course, a city park and pump track, and the Oakridge Museum close by.

Cowboy Cabin at Tired Dog Ranch
Cabin
Southern Oregon

Cowboy Lover's Heaven! Saddle on up to this rootin' tootin' charmer with open beam high peaked knotty pine ceiling, vintage & horsey knicknacks, private BR w/queen bed. Upstairs sleeping loft w/1 full bed & 1 twin sleigh bed. Cozy kitchen w/retro fridge, island w/2 seats, table + 4 chairs. LR w/hardwood floor, TV, leather couch w/cover, rocking swivel, stuffed chair, computer desk, river rock hearth & mantle wood stove & wood! Bathroom w/custom tile shower. Dogs welcome! at $35 - max of 2 dogs.

The space
Giddy Up to the Cowboy Cabin, plush with all that is western and rustic, be it the open beam vaulted ceilings with knotty pine, the post and beam construction or the distressed hardwood and large tile floors - many materials used in the construction of this dwelling are recycled or repurposed - lots of history here folks!

The colors are a mix of bright and blooming, or sage brushy and calm - with artifacts and art to settle you in, cowboy style, after a rustling day in the woods or out on the plains. This is the only dwelling with a private bedroom that features a Queen bed for the restless cowhand in all of us. The loft is accessible by pole ladder only; NO children under 10 or those prone to sleep walking in the loft (or sign a waiver holding Tired Dog Ranch, et.al. harmless).

The river rock hearth and glass faced wood stove are sweet surrender to the eyes, or plug in a good movie on the flat screen TV perched on the sewing machine your grandma's grandma once used. Saddle up to the bar featuring saddle benches and crack a cold one, or hunker down to a warm meal at the table. Pull out a good book or honky tonk to a CD. Dedicated DISH network, wi-fi with Roku to watch Netflix, Hulu, Youtube, etc or slide in a movie (compliments of TDR) using the DVD player - and if that's not enough, dance your buns off from the selection of CD's and portable player!

Tired Dog Ranch, an 18-acre farm/forest retreat at the edge of the Willamette Forest at the west end of the Cascade Range (Center for Outdoor Recreation!) with year-round Grey Creek as a west property line. Trails both on and off the property provide hiking enjoyment, while garden variety farm critters (horses, dogs, chickens, outdoor cat) can be enjoyed by young and old alike. Ask the chief cowpoke for details here.

Tired Dog Ranch features four Vacation Rentals: Cascadian Cottage (sleeps up to 6 w/three beds - Queen, Full, Full), Cowboy Cabin (sleeps up to 5 w/three beds - Queen, Full, Twin), Celestial Yurt (sleeps up to 4 w/two beds - king and queen pull out couch) and Hen House (sleeps up to 3 w/two beds - king and full futon couch), Campsites with composting toilets, potable water, mortis and tenoned "Cadillac Campsite Kitchen and Shower Shelter" with cook and serve-ware for up to 20, Large fire pit with wrap seating (May through October) in open grassy meadow surrounded by a collosium of evergreens and beautiful view of the constellations. The grounds can accommodate RV parking, equine lodging (12' x 12' paneled mare motels with fresh water barrels, grain bucket, hay net, muck rake and wheelbarrow). Please call for pricing of these additional amenities.

To greet you at check-in is a fully furnished dwelling with fresh ground coffee, teas, free range eggs, real butter & oil, basic condiments, music, wood - kindling - starter and matches for the stove, DISH network, CD's and DVD movies and wi-fi to enjoy after a day of romping on the trails and in the waterways down a path that starts at the red wagon wheel and travels to the rear of the Yurt. Or if you prefer, laze around in the upper meadow, yards or orchard, kick up your paws in the hammock by the Long House and under a tree or at the edge of Grey Creek (west boundary line). Fun can be had romping around the many walking and riding trails on, around and beyond the property boundaries and into the Middle Fork Willamette Forest.

As the name suggests, Tired Dog Ranch is DOG & KID FRIENDLY so bring your two and four legged family members along for fun on the farm and in the forest. There is a $15/per pet/night (maximum of 2). Please notify during your booking process if you are bringing pets, and if so, how many. Additional charges and negative review will be added for non-disclosure and violation of rules of conduct. Neither dog(s) or children under 16-YO can be left in a dwelling without ADULT supervision (no teen baby sitters!) and dogs must remain on leash when on the grounds to the west of the upper meadow, and children remaining cordial around the chickens, cat, dog and horses (no chasing, etc.). You may feed the horses carrots and apples from over the fence (no access into pasture allowed), but please cut them to bite size amounts. Free range chickens amble around the grounds up to the dwellings, though do not venture to the upper meadow where you can let your dog off leash as long as they return to you when called. If a chicken is maimed or killed as a result of your dog attack, there is a charge of $50.

Bringing Pets AND/OR Children under 11 requires that you agree to a damages/security commitment through Airbnb. Please read policy for details. Any damages will be charged. Non-report of broken or damaged items will also receive negative feedback.

The surrounding area boasts of lakes, the North and Middle Fork Willamette River, creeks and streams, hot springs, hundreds of miles of mountain biking and hiking trails, the quiet communities of Oakridge and Westfir playing host to fun and festive summer and winter events. To the east approximately 26 miles is the Willamette Pass Ski Resort with ski lift, featuring a bounty of downhill slopes for all ages and skill levels, and cross country trails that would rival a cougar's tracks. See (URL HIDDEN) for other interesting and inviting events, features of the area, and activities throughout the year.

Diamond Express, a subsidiary of the Lane Transit District (LTD) bus system provides transportation to all points west to urban growth areas surrounding the cities of Eugene/Springfield. Catch the bus at various locations for $5/day pass.

Summer rates apply starting May 1st and extend through October 31st. There is additional charge for rental of a sleeping cot at $10/night. Additional guests over the designated capacity is requested, there is a $15/person/night charge. No sleeping on the floor (fire marshall and insurance rules). NO Dogs on furniture (including chairs, couches and beds). Bring your own dog bed, leash and dog dish.

Guest access
Guests have access to the 18 acre grounds and private access to the National Forest with trails surrounding the property. Within the grounds is an orchard, woodlands, lawn, pasture with horses, a mule and a mini paint pony, farm cat and friendly dogs, and dozens of free range chickens! The open air Pavillion in the Upper Meadow provides shelter, Grey Creek bordering the west property line provides peaceful contemplation and the upper meadow with the glow of a campfire in the big fire pit and surrounded by colossal second and old growth trees provides a lovely backdrop on a moonlit night! During the Summer Season, for those who want to camp and "glamp", there are a number of campsites in the upper meadow with composting toilets and a "Cadillac Campsite Kitchen and Shower Shelter" so you can cook without charring your meal on a propane 4-burner stove, wash the dishes (set of 12 plates, plastic and ceramic cups, 20 silverware, towels, S & P, utensils, pots and pans on hand) in a real live sink (hot water and soap on hand) and dry them in a rack. Four hot shower stalls with dressing area and hooks for towels are dreamy when the day of play is done and sleeping sweaty in a sleeping bag feels sticky and smells stinky with the sunrise (something to be avoided especially when sharing a tent or trailer!). The central fire pit with wrap seating (made from TDR's homemade trees) is magical for roasting hot dogs, marshmellows and warming tootsies while howling at the moon and constellation of other noteworthy stars with a collosium of second and old growth trees nestling you to sleep as owls croon you to stay an chat a spell.

Other things to note
The city of Oakridge is located approximately 40 miles east of Eugene/Springfield and 25 miles west the Willamette Pass/Salt Creek Falls. There is a Ray's market and two other convenience stores, a liquor store and two bars/pubs, two post offices in both Oakridge and Westfir (sister town). Tired Dog Ranch is located to the southwest of each town. There are many trails, rivers and streams to explore throughout the West Cascade Range that corridors these two towns. Westfir's Office Bridge, the longest covered bridge in Oregon, is the trailhead for the infamous Aufderheide Byway, linking this community to Blue River through a beautifully landscaped range that runs along the N.Fork Willamette River.

DIRECTIONS - can be easy if you don't depend on outdated or inaccurate internet maps. While traveling on Hwy 58, access to LaDuke Rd. is Harbor Drive, a cut through road between MP 32 and 33. Quickly you join onto LaDuke Rd. and head east 1-1/2 miles. Once you pass over Grey Creek bridge, turn RIGHT into the next driveway. There is signage "Tired Dog Ranch" just past a post at the driveway entry with the address 47-61 LaDuke Rd. If you've hit gravel, you've gone too far - back up and turn right. Travel up the driveway to your dwelling. Carriage Hen House is first and on left side, Yurt is just beyond and to the right, Cottage is up the hill a bit more and on the left, Cabin is the last dwelling - also on the left, Campsite is at east end of property and abuts the national forest.
