- "The Madeira Sun Travel Team was very helpful despite we had a big flight delay. There are two bathrooms one at each bedroom, but there are no doors between bathroom and bedroom. Beds are quite comfortable, we had a good sleep. We had a very nice time, many touristic spots can be reached within 30 to 45 mins, many restaurants nearby." - "The grounds, pool and the fact that the accommodation was detached from others was lovely. The property was spotless and had all necessary amenities. The lady who changed the bedding was very pleasant. Sadly, the house has high humidity and there were damp patches in both bedroom areas and in the kitchen/sitting area. This resulted in having a damp smell in the house which is a shame. If there were vents in the windows and a dehumidifier in each of the rooms it would hugely help the damp problem. This aside, we really did like the accommodation and the owners were attentive when the light tripped and the electric gate stuck one evening. Overall, the setting of the properties is lovely and the grounds are very well maintained."

The city centre was easy to access on foot or by the bus which had a stop not more than 200 metres from the gate. When we rented a vehicle the main highway(VR 1) was easily accessed within 3 to 5 minutes. The place was well appointed for long stays, the beds were very comfortable and the house was very secure. - "We liked the view, the sunny terrace where we could have breakfast in the morning, the view from the kitchen into the garden, and the fact that everything was very clean and that the beds were comfortable. The appartment is still very new and that made it a little bit uninspiring in a way for us. Some furniture or decoration could be added to make it a bit more homely and practical. Like: an outside table and chairs to sit on the terrace, a second brush to clean the toilet, some thicker/extra curtains in the 2 front bedrooms to keep the light from the street lantern shining in at night, some extra kitchen equipment, like a measuring cup, a kitchen scale and a dishwasher. Also an electrical stove would be nice to have in the living room for the fresher evenings, and a doormat + coat rack at the entrance of the appartment. Chalet da Nogueira is a small mountain house recently renovated, which is recommended for hikers, practitioners of mountain activities and those who want to be away from urban centres.The house has an area of 40 m2 on two floors. On the upper floor, there is a bedroom with a double bed (160x200 cm) and a common area with two single beds (90x200 cm), which can accommodate up to 4 people. On the ground floor, there is a small living room, kitchen with a dining table and a bathroom.Outside, there is a porch, a backyard with a barbecue, a parking area, an area for washing bicycles and hiking boots and an agricultural land with fruit trees.The house is at an altitude of 780 m and can get cold on winter nights. Therefore, it has a heat pump to heat the house and extra blankets for the coldest nights. In summer the house can be cooled with air conditioning.The house is equipped with a fridge, washing machine, dryer, stove, oven, microwave, coffee machine and other utensils, as well as bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi (with 4G router), TV with international channels and other amenities to provide a pleasant and relaxed stay.LOCATIONThe house is in a small remote village surrounded by forest.There are no restaurants or services in the village. At 2.8 km there is the Bar-Restaurant O Pinhal. There are small grocery stores less than 4 km away and supermarkets 5 and 9 km away.Access from the main road to the house is via 1.2 km of unpaved road, which requires a vehicle with higher ground clearance and the driving speed must be reduced. In periods of rain, a vehicle with 4x4 traction is recommended.A few kilometres away, there are impressive cliffs, mountains, and Laurel Forest for nature lovers.For hikers and mountain bikers, there are forest paths nearby, as well as recommended walking routes and mountain bike trails a few kilometres away, namely in Paul da Serra.REMARKSA car is recommended to this location and free parking is available in the property or on the street.Cleaning is done before guests check in and then there is a weekly maintenance cleaning, which includes the change of bed linen and towels.As it is a rural area, there is potential for noise caused by dogs and other domestic animals in neighbouring properties. There are also insects in the surroundings that can be attracted by food scraps.The increase in the number of guests implies a price increase of up to 10% per person.CONDITIONS1. Parties or behaviour that disturb the peace and well-being of neighbours are not allowed, especially between 10 pm and 8 am when neighbourhood noise is prohibited.2. Self-check-in with flexible arrival time is available via a key lockbox whose code is created and sent on the day of arrival. The space
One of three cottages located at the Natural Park of Ribeiro Frio, Camélia is surrounded by forest and is well placed in the mountains of Santana.

Due to its privileged location, it allows access to several hikes, including the famous Vereda dos Balcões and an incredible experience in the middle of the Laurissilva forest.

When you arrive at the entrance of the property, you will see the cottages on the other side of the valley, and the mountains above them.
Take a moment to breath the fresh air while watching that beautiful landscape before you enter the private road up to the cottages.

In the middle of the road, you will pass a small bridge with a view to the small seasonal brook that feeds Ribeiro Frio, before arriving at the automatic gate that gives you access to the gardens and the parking space.

A small garden on your right along with the small stone path that leads to the picnic area marks the end of the road and beginning of the parking space just above.

Once in the parking space you will see the valley of Ribeiro Frio and the surrounding mountains and forest. A stone path that leads to Camélia starts in front of Cedro cottage, and after passing Cedro's doorway, the common barbecue on your right and the orange tiles of Camélia's roof are revealed.

At the end of the path there are patches of hortensias and urzes and a small stone stairwell under a plum tree into Camélia's patio. Place your luggage on the bench and absorb the moment, the view and the mountain air. It's worth it and you have arrived!

Inside the cottage on your left, you can see the couch near the wood burning stove and the hallway that leads to the bedroom.

The wooden floor is soft and smooth and the light decoration makes it cozy and simple at the same time.

On your right you see the table and chairs before going into the well equipped kitchen, take a moment to open the cabinets and see everything that you can use to prepare your meals during your stay.

The bedroom also has a simple decoration and it's soft light welcomes you to it's comfortable beds.

Make yourself comfortable and enjoy the view to the valley from the window.

Also bring some walking sticks and a flash-light if you plan to do some hikes.

Located on the sunny slopes of Lombada dos Esmeraldos in Ponta do Sol, in what used to be an old agricultural warehouse, completely rebuilt and repurposed, this cottage is only a few meters away from the Levadas and Espirito Santo chapel, one of the most beautiful examples of baroque art in the island, and also a water mill that was recently recovered and is moved by one of the oldest “levadas” in Madeira.
Just 2 km away is the village of Ponta do Sol. You can walk down to Ponta do Sol, passing through the ‘Lombada’ locality while you take in the habits and observe the day to day lives of the inhabitants, or you may choose to travel comfortably by bus or taxi.
In Ponta do Sol, not only can you enjoy the beach but you may also stroll around the 500 year old village, appreciating its picturesque streets where you can find the Church of Senhora da luz, the Santo Antonio Chapel, the Chapel of Santo Antão, the old cinema, the João dos Passos center and finally the old pier, one of the most iconic in Madeira. While you’re at it, choose one of the many places to eat and enjoy a local meal.
If you choose to take the bus to and from Quinta do Esmeraldo, in addition to the regular bus line that passes right at your door at specific hours during the day, you may also take the more frequent lines that pass on the main road (ER 222), 900mt away from the Quinta.

The house was recently remodeled with the comfort of our guests in mind. It includes a garden and a parking space for your car, accessible from the nearby road that takes you down to the village. Because the house was adapted from its old purpose, there is a staircase leading up to the room, the bathroom is small and there are two small individual beds (80x190 cm), so it is not recommended for disabled guests or people with mobility issues.
