Our key wouldn’t work and had to be opened a few time with the master until they could go out and get a replacement guess they only keep one key. Ordered dinner when my wife didn’t get her order as we both ordered the same thing the waitress even confirmed by holding up two fingers. The child’s was not translated cost €16 and was terrible. The waitress said chicken nuggets. It was a fried paper thin dry breaded chicken filet my grandson wouldn’t eat, I wouldn’t eat and I don’t think my dog would. Waitress forgot to return my credit card although ten minutes later I came back to because I couldn’t get the air conditioner to work She didn’t know how to use it either. So after we left and was an hour away I got a call that they had my credit card. Also left phone charger and expensive power converter in the room they wouldn’t check or ring the room to get it back. When I finally returned for the credit card they said I owed for breakfast I said breakfast was advertised they said not included. I didn’t order anything they brought over 3 four ounces glasses of some kind of over sweetened fruit drink not juice a plate of six small hard cookies with a dab of jam in the center. Three slices of Prosciutto and a few slices of bread. If I knew this is something that I’d have to pay for I wouldn’t have got it free hotel breakfast are better the what they gave you. The pool water was green and in need of some chemi"

The farmhouse "CASALE DEL GELSO" is located in the countryside of Parco dei Castelli Romani, just a 4 kilometers from the center of Ariccia and Genzano di Roma, only 20 minutes by train, you can reach the center of Rome (Campoleone - Roma Termini station). All services are nearby but a car is needed to get around easily. The farmhouse is located 10 minutes from Nemi with its Lake, 15 minutes from Albano and Castel Gandolfo, only 20 minutes from the sea (Tor San Lorenzo).
DESCRIPTION
The Casale del Gelso enjoys a spectacular view of the Circeo promontory and its islands, the sun terrace and the vast park surrounding the Casale are completed with tables, chairs, deckchairs and numerous relaxation areas with cushions and sofas, barbecue area and wood oven.
The Vagaggini’s family owns Casale del Gelso since many years. It is based on the agro Romano and it was built during the early 900’. The main structure runs around the medieval tower, and it is surrounded by a park with plants and olive trees.
We started in 2011 the restoration of the main building with great care and love for the style we wanted to keep in. Demolition materials were reused in a creative way : the old roof tiles have become the square in front of the portico, the use of terracotta, wood, green Tuff and the renovated old furniture with shabby chic style have given a special warm and harmonious atmosphere all around the Casale. Rural elements can be found in the large arch, in the barn and in the oven.

HARVESTING OLIVES a day together, a good experience, a way to enjoy our products. Extra Virgin olive oil Casale del Gelso is an oil obtained from olives of different qualities, including Frantoio, Leccino, Rosciola. We harvest our olives by hand only, it will be fun to do together with you. A joyful and tasty snack under the olive trees, a basket full of goodies, a fire to warm and the smell of freshly pressed oil.

Past an austere gate, at the end of a paved driveway surrounded by lush greenery, Lanuvium looms up unexpectedly against the backdrop of a courtyard in peperino with all the light that its three whitewashed floors and large windows can reflect. The villa takes its name from the town in which it stands, Lanuvio, one of the seventeen Castelli Romani rich in history, folklore, traditions and food and wine culture. Built in the '70s, it has been completely renovated by the current owners with the architectural criteria of material contamination in '50s style. The ground floor is dominated by the spiral staircase, by a sculpture in porous stone which characterizes the living area together with the oval dining table, the floor lamp in fine translucent opalescent marble with silver veining, the cylindrical fireplace in embossed bronze foil, the sofas, the sculptures and the other unique pieces which, together with the owners' travel souvenirs, have made Lanuvium a contemporary, dynamic and captivating residence. The tempered glass windows blend with the shiny galvanized steel of the portico structure, anchoring it the ground and projecting it to the first floor where the pool “enters” the study on one side and “exits” from an infinity waterfall wall on the other. The burnt anthracite-coloured flooring of the large portico and the dark brown teak of the pool area and external perimeter of the first floor stand out clearly and cleanly, creating a connection between the villa and the outdoor areas. Lanuvium is completely air conditioned and soundproofed and all the bedrooms are fitted with top of the range Flou beds so as to ensure complete rest and comfort. Relaxation and wellbeing continue with the indoor Turkish bath and hydromassage tub and with the outdoor hydromassage shower adjacent to the portico.

Interior:
The 350 sq m villa has three floors and is accessed via the two large French windows of the kitchen and the dining room which, together with the living room with fireplace, form the large open-plan area of the ground floor; a hallway leads to the bathroom with shower and Turkish bath and to the bathroom with tub. On the first floor the study opens out onto the portico just a few steps from the pool and into the hallway leading to a double bedroom with ensuite bathroom with shower, to a double bedroom with outside access and to a bathroom with hydromassage tub. On the third floor are three double bedrooms and a bathroom with tub and shower. The floors are connected by the internal staircase.

Park:
The fenced-in park of Villa Lanuvium with its 5500 sq m contains many trees and flowers typical of this hill area of Lazio that brighten the driveway, the parking areas and the courtyard in front of the entrance; pines, olives, holm oaks, hydrangeas, rose bushes, jasmine, bignonias, wisteria, lilies, petunias, oleanders, pomegranates, lemons, rosemary, pittosporum, laurel and acanthus: this last is widespread at Lanuvium and is the symbol on the Greek Corinthian capitals. Flights of steps and tuff paths criss-cross the property, connecting the various levels. From the electric gate, across the paved driveway, you come to the first parking level then, continuing past a fountain with water lilies, you come to a second parking level leading to the peperino-paved courtyard in front of the entrance to the villa. Here you will find a stone barbecue and an umbrella with a large round wooden table which constitute the practical and dynamic outdoor dining area, enlivened by the splashing water of the infinity pool that spills into the wall fountain behind it. The park consists of pleasant areas of lawn where you can relax in the shade or sunbathe by the pool and a children's play area.
Please notice that photos are taken in spring, therefore flower blossoming, and the colours of the gardens' grass could be different at the moment of your arrival at the villa.

Swimming Pool:
The pool at Lanuvium is an infinity one, its waters flow into the wall fountain located at courtyard level on the ground floor. Rectangular-shaped, it measures 6 x 12 m with the depth varying from a few centimetres to 2.5 m in the centre. It has chlorine purification, internal lights, light blue PVC lining and is accessed down five steps. The pool is located on the first floor of the villa and faces south-west, looking out over the village of Genzano which at sunset lights up like a nativity scene. The solarium area consists of dark teak and lawn, as regards the area exposed to the sun, and of the portico for shade; it is provided with sunbeds, deckchairs, chaise longue and fine ash wood furnishings. It is reached, outside, along the steps and tuff paths and, inside, from the first floor study which opens directly onto the portico and from one of the double bedrooms; there is not, therefore, any physical or visual interruption between pool, portico and house. Completing the pool area is a kingsize shower stall with hot water, built in brick and fine mosaic of green Venetian grit. The pool is open from the last Saturday in April to the first Saturday in October.

- "My family and I have just returned from an amazing holiday at Lanuvium, there were 10 of us in total including an infant and 5 children and we all had a really great time! The house is lovely, homely and well equipped and the ample grounds meant the children had fun running around and finding different routes and pathways. The pool is great shallow at one end and very deep at the far end and the outside seating areas provided ample shading to keep them out of the midday sun. It was very hot for our stay and while I don't usually like air-con it was very much appreciated. We did have one day, where the air-con stopped working due to a power cut but this was resolved very quickly. Andrea that manages the property is lovely, I called her a couple of times to ask questions and she was very helpful and great at getting back to me. The walk into town is about 10 minutes down hill and there is a small deli and a handful of restaurants and ice cream parlours, so we didn't need car (we got Carrefour to deliver all of our basics and topped up with fresh ingredients from the town). However if you would like to explore further afield then you definitely would. Also the driveway is a fairly steep walk so if this could be a problem for you then a car would be the best option. The house was large enough for us all to be able to find a quiet spot if need be and had ample bathrooms so that we could all get ready to get out at the same time. The dining tables (2 outside and 1 inside) were also large enough to accommodate us all which was also a bonus. All in all we had a perfect stay."

The houses sit in a 'borgo' - an ancient rural village, and have been carefully restored to be a vacation destination. The 'borgo' is the center of a 30 hectare productive farm, that makes wine, olive oil and has fruit orchards.


You'll be in the heart of the Lazio wine country in the Albano hills, just a few kilometers from Velletri, Lanuvio and Ariccia, where you can try the famous "Porchetta of Ariccia", a delectable roasted pork that was awarded regional food recognition by the European Community. The Pausania complex is not far from the Eternal City of Rome; you'll find the San Gennaro trail station just three kilometers from the property.


There is a large garden surrounding the farmhouses, where you'll find the swimming pool and a spacious patio that is shared with other guests and open to outside visitors. There is a nice picnic area 200 meters from the houses which is also illuminated for evening barbecues, outfitted with tables, benches and brick barbecue grills. There is also a volleyball court and tennis court. The sports area also has a changing room and showers, as well as a large parking lot for campers. The sports area is open to outside visitors and property guests.


Within the complex you'll find a nice restaurant and pizzeria where you can sample the local specialties made with farm-fresh ingredients grown on-site, which is also open to the public.

The living room is paved with terracotta tiles. The ceiling has characteristic exposed wood beams. The furnishings are warm and welcoming. The furnishings include a small sofa. In the living room you will also find a cooking area. The kitchenette is equipped with a two-burner gas cooker, a small refrigerator without freezer and an Italian-style coffee-maker. The dining table can accommodate four guests. A sanctuary in the Ardeatina countryside
We start from outside Rome, to the south, along the Ardeatina road, among the hills at the edge of the Appia Antica park. The first stop on the journey towards the heart of the Jubilee city is the Sanctuary of Divine Love, a place of pilgrimage since the second half of the 18th century, built about ten kilometers from the Appian Way and 12 from the church of "Domine Quo Vadis".

It is said that the founding event of the sanctuary was the protection that the Madonna gave to a pilgrim lost in the countryside, in 1740. In addition to the testimonies of faith, this place is also marked by the vow of protection that the Romans made during the Second World War and even a mention in the seventh art. The sanctuary was in fact described by Fellini's lens in the film "Nights of Cabiria".

Among its artistic heritage, it is worth mentioning the Madonna del Divino amore, a Byzantine icon that represents the bond between air and the Holy Spirit. The sanctuary was enlarged on the threshold of 2000. The renovated structure was consecrated by John Paul II in 1999.
Go to the Aventine, towards the church of S. Prisca
With the second stage, you enter Rome, in an area that is now central but quiet and with little traffic. Among the greenery of public and private gardens, there are evocative churches such as S. Sabina, S. Alessio and the Jubilee church of S. Prisca. To reach the latter, you walk along the quiet streets of the Aventine, until you pass the square of the temple of Diana.

The church of S. Prisca bears witness to very ancient events. Built on the ruins of the house of the martyr Prisca, killed around the middle of the 1st century at the time of Emperor Claudius, the church was rebuilt at the time of Callisto III in 1456. Under its naves, the original structures of the place of worship are still preserved, such as the 1st century house or the rooms adapted for the cult of the god Mithras, depicted in the frescoes that tell of his musical exploits.

The churches of S. Maria in Monserrato degli Spagnoli and S. Paolo alla Regola
We are now in the "Renaissance district", between the streets of Banco di S. Spirito and Banchi Nuovi, Piazza Navona, Piazza Farnese and Campo de' Fiori. From the Celio we descend towards the Lungotevere Aventino.

Among the rich residences and the popular houses, there are some churches. The two jubilee churches chosen by the Pope are S. Paolo alla Regola and S. Maria in Monserrato degli Spagnoli.

It seems that the church of S. Paolo alla Regola was built around the first Roman home of the saint, who after a life of evangelization was killed by Nero, around 64 AD. The construction of the place of worship officially dates back to 1186. The church was completely rebuilt at the end of the 17th century. There are many works inside, from the Stories of the life of St. Paul by Luigi Garzi to those of Calandrucci.

The 400 sqm villa spans four levels. GROUND FLOOR - Entrance leading to an open-plan living and dining area; staircase on the left leading to the sleeping area; few steps up to the kitchen with large window overlooking the rear garden; four steps leading to the dining area with French window access to the outside; guest bathroom. FIRST FLOOR - Study room with access to a private terrace; double bedroom with wardrobe corner and ensuite bathroom with shower. ATTIC – tv room; twin bedroom (with joinable beds); double bedroom with access to a small private terrace; bathroom with shower. Park:
The 1,000 sqm fenced garden, set on flat terrain, ensures privacy and full use of all outdoor areas. Access is through a pedestrian gate. The grounds are a mix of lawn and paved areas, enclosed by a laurel hedge and enriched with succulent plants, aeonium, cactus, agave, cycas, and Washingtonia palms; hibiscus in pots, cypresses, magnolia, and olive trees. An outdoor dining area is located near the kitchen, while a barbecue corner with a fixed barbecue and a mobile barbecue/smoker is positioned in another section of the garden.
Please notice that photos are taken in spring, therefore flower blossoming, and the colours of the gardens' grass could be different at the moment of your arrival at the villa.

Swimming Pool:
The swimming pool, located a few metres from the house, measures 12 x 6 m with a depth ranging from 1.20 to 2.40 m.
