" - "My husband and I recently visited Pecs and we were looking for a safe, clean, and quiet place to stay. Hotel Makar was EXACTLY that, and it was an unbeatable bargain!!! The staff was very courteous and accommodating - we had a reservation, but due to a flight delay, we got in a day late. I called the hotel reception and they were VERY accommodating; we didn't get charged extra for the night we missed. The facilities at the hotel are excellent - we were impressed to find an indoor racquet ball court and well-maintained indoor pool. Our room was private and cozy, and VERY clean. We also dined at the conveniently-located on-site restaurant several times - the food was delicious and the staff was very polite. Oh, and their breakfast buffet is probably the best in town, with LOTS of options (cereal, fresh pastries, eggs, yogurt, etc.) They even gave us home-made sandwiches for the road when we left, with authentic Hungarian kolbasz (salami). What other place does that?! Location-wise, the hotel is not very far from the city center (definitely a doable walk there and back). It is perfect for a relaxing, refreshing wellness visit or vacation stay. Overall, we felt like royalty at Hotel Makar, and we would definitely stay with them again. "

- "Really enjoyed staying here. Apartment was clean, spacious (high ceilings), very modern kitchen (I opted not to cook, but all amenities are there - half refrigerator, dishwasher, pots/pans, dishes, utensils - also small dining table), bed was comfortable, desk/room to work and sofa. Excellent lighting. A very large amount of closet space as well, extra blankets/pillows in the wardrobes/closets. Apartment I was in (123) faces out to parking lots, so helpful to keep all shades down at times. Would appreciate paper napkins or paper towels in kitchen. Also, there were some "stink bugs" in the room/on a shade (Hungary had an infestation with these), which were upsetting, but I managed to remove two of them one night (threw them out the window) and another one the second night. Plants in the room are lovely but maybe some natural/eco-friendly solution sprayed by the windows could prevent them from coming inside (vinegar, soap, lavender). Room got a little loud all three evenings at 11 p.m. from upstairs neighbor, but it lasted 10 minutes at the most. Otherwise, very quiet neighborhood, 5-7 minute walk to Szechenyi ter with beautiful architecture, cafes, restaurants (Kiraly street), churches, and so forth. Staff was incredibly nice both at check-in and check-out and you can have breakfast in their terraced area of the hotel. Note: you check in at the Hotel, but the apartments are just across the street. I would recommend Adele!"
