- "The town was lovely." - " Our first bad experience with VRBO, so it had to be a memorable one. Arrived at 5 pm (check-in is late, but check-out still at 11) and realized I had no instructions. The host’s UK number went straight to voicemail. Called a local number but they only spoke French. Usually, language barriers are part of the charm, but not when you’re stuck outside your rental that claims "Host Language: English." Luckily, we had a French-speaking friend back home who helped. The unit felt like one of those corporate rentals, not a “real” home. If so, this company was terribly unorganized—definitely not “Premier Host” material. WiFi didn’t work on Apple devices, and heating was a no-go. We messaged the host and local contact but got no response. On night two, the door codes were changed, locking us out again. After a stressful call with the local contact, we got a new code—just in time for my wife to avoid using a defibrillator. The location was decent, though the street wasn’t pristine. You could enjoy the view of an abandoned Heineken bottle from the absurd two-person tub. The apartment had steep stairs, not ideal after a wine-tasting day, especially with no en-suite. The kitchen? Miserable. Just a paring knife, a skillet, a small bowl, and few utensils. No dishwasher, no paper towels, and “Outdoor Space” and “Barbecue grill” mentioned in the listing were nowhere to be found. Awful."
