The shower is amazing, almost gives me a massage, so soothing. It's on an incline but not too bad as I can manage it and I'm physically disabled. Everywhere else is flat walking in the surrounding area. I highly recommend this place. If I ever return to Istanbul I'd definitely be staying here again. The price is so reasonable for what it is. The fashion shop at the door is nice and the lady is very kind. All the area is plenty of restaurants and shops. The apartment was comfortable and in good conditions. The staff person who welcomed us was extremely kind and available. He booked also a taxi for us, which was perfectly in time and very kind, too. However, the warm welcome cannot compensate the deficiencies. Although the kitchenette is large and has a couple of (never-cleaned) electric plates, the cooking facilities are not really available: apart from few crockery (no soup bowls), kettles and a little saucepan with old crusts inside, there are no pots/pans.The only tools are a cooking knife and a spatula, unuseful without cutting board/pans. Basic tools like a colander or a bottle/can opener are missing. The cutlery consists of two knifes and three coffee spoons. The washing machine works well, the fridge takes a long time to reach an acceptable temperature. A small table with a lamp at the bed head would be greatly appreciated. Towels and sheets were changed once (good), but the general cleanliness should be improved (i.e. the floor). The shower is large and very confortable, even if the door does not close well."

She constantly was yelling on the phone when she’s working. They literally leave a broom and a mop outside your door for you to clean. If you want toiletries you have to message the owner and wait a few days for it to be delivered. We ended up buying our own. The owner Abdullah is a respectful man, his communication was great with tenants. However the kitchen faucet was broken, we have rodent problems and no cleaning service. All information provided here was given to the owner so he was aware that even tho his communication service was good, him not being on the property was a hinder to the apartment because the cleaning lady didn’t do her job. We made a complaint about suitability, as I had my elderly mother with me, to hotels.com who didnt assist apart from contacting the hotel, didnt inform me which caused hostility between the son who worked there and ourselves. We wanted to enquire about the breakadt options snd knocked on the door next yo the lobby but there wasnt any answer. When we saw the son again he looked at us with disdain. There was also building work going on next door which cant be helped but it was either window closed or wedged curtain up. As this was my first time in Istanbul I was distraught at the lack of care on all sides. I eont be booking with hotels.com again and wouldnt recommend this hotel if you have anyone senior with you. Take a bus in 4 minutes and you’ll be in Eminonu, Taksim and Sultanahmet in 10-15 minutes or walk there around the historical peninsula in 25-30 minutes.

The district is located within the old city walls in the historical peninsula, to the west of Eminönü, and overlook the Golden Horn. In these area different communities and religions have converged and mingled in the course of time, bestowing us up to the present day with an extraordinary wealth of architecture, religious monuments, colours and gastronomic delicacies.
Within walking distance there are hidden Greek churches, the Armenian church of the 17th century, the Synagogue of Ahrid and several mosques. Within 10 minutes walking distance you reach to the Echumenical Patriarchate, 5 minutes to Bulgarian church and 15 minutes to Chora Church, which has gorgeous mosaics and fresco-laden. Balat is surrounded by plenty of beautiful cafes and restaurants. You can see around local people, travellers, tourists, hipsters, mods all together, who choose to be integrated to the living old spirit of Istanbul in this area. You can spend your time at one of salesrooms and buy antiques with local way of sales.

You can reach by 3 minutes walk to bus station direction to Eminönü and Taksim you can also take tram to Sultanahmet, Levent etc. You can also take ferry to asian side. Public transportation is very easy reachable due to Balat's central location.

The space
Our home is very centrally located. 15 minutes away from Taksim, Eminönü and touristic areas such as Sultanahmet. There are bus stops three minutes walk from our house. There are also mini buses that run 24 hours a day in our neighborhood. You can also walk to the wonderful Samatya coast in 10 minutes. There are markets and a bakery on our street.
