Please read our listing descriptions to manage expectations regarding our location and services.
The space
Inandakos started out as a small homestay in 2009, catering to backpackers, artists, and friends of friends. With Sagada solidifying its place in the mainstream of mass tourism in recent years, we have opened our home as a bed and breakfast with the objective of promoting responsible travel to our guests without taking away any of the comfort they deserve. Staying with us would also guarantee a sumptous breakfast to build up energy for all the activities one could do in this mountain town; of course this comes with all-day availability of our town’s famous brewed coffee. The place is located in Barangay Dagdag but it is not along the busy main road so one needs to walk a bit off the beaten track to get to our house. For those bringing a car, there is a parking area about 100 meters from Inandako’s but it is accessible via a dirt road. The house has 8 rooms, 3 of which are used by our family and the rest are for guests. The rooms are private but all areas outside the rooms are shared spaces.
--------
“Inandako”
People in Sagada call or address mothers by attaching the name of their first born. Ina, like the Filipino term is an Igorot term for ‘mother’; Inan in Kankanaey(*1) means ‘mother of’.
Therefore the term inandako means ‘mother of Dako’. The owner’s son’s gubbaw(*2) name or Igorot name is Dako, shortened from Didako – the Igorot name of his paternal great grandfather.
__
(1) Kankana-ey is the language spoken by the people of Mountain Province and some parts of the Benguet Province in Northern Philippines.
(2) Gubbaw is a naming ritual in the i-Sagada culture. When a baby is born he/she is given an Igorot name from his/her parental lineage to keep the name alive.
LOCATION:
We are not along the main road and our guests would have to take a 200m long pathway from there to our house. We would not recommend guests to bring heavy suitcases and lots of luggage if they plan to stay with us. We would also discourage PWDs, senior citizens, and non-adventurous guests to book our place as the extra walk may just be a burden for them. We are also in the downtown area, around a kilometer away from the bus stop and around 800m walk until the pathway entrance.
Directions to our home would be available once the room is booked.
PARKING
Our parking area is off-site and is located in a grassy field approx. 150m from the house. Please keep this in mind if you will be bringing extra luggage.
Guest access
Guests can access almost all areas in the house except for the rooms that they did not book.
We discourage cooking in the kitchen but guests can use all other amenities such as the microwave and refrigerator.
During your stay
We also live in this house so we can provide assistance 24/7.
Other things to note
Don’t forget to bring a jacket as Sagada can get rather cold. It is coolest on the months of December up to February, right before summer in the Philippines.
Our house is near nature and the woods so the uninvited presence of small insects may be a concern.
As of the moment, there is a house construction on a neighboring lot so it may cause some noise disturbance during the daytime.
This is the least ventilated room among our listings in the house.
Lock on bedroom door • Hot water • Mountain view • Board games • Essentials • Hangers • Clothing storage: closet • Wifi – 37 Mbps • Books and reading material • Dedicated workspace
Gawis is a private room at the lower floor of Inandako's BnB. It contains a queen bed with its own private bathroom. It also has a view of Mt. Kanip-aw and part of the Echo Valley from its windows. Perfect for couples or solo travelers. Gawis is a local term which translates to 'good' -- a central theme in the iSagada culture. The town's motto is, 'Ipeyas nan Gawis.', Share the Good.
