It is just outside the medina so car can go to the property unlike a lot of others where you need to walk in the medina from car park to the hotel. Beautiful property, had a great view of the medina, spacious and clean rooms (not common for Riads in medina), excellent service and staff, even had a gym, good restaurant with live music that we loved. But even if you don't there is a large terrace you can lounge on to enjoy the view. The staff was wonderful as was the dining. The hotel itself is old and therefore a bit dated, with some peeling paint and slow plumbing, but this did not detract from my stay. It was too cold to swim but the pool was inviting and the lounge chairs were great for reading. Also its a short drive or slightly longer walk to the medina, so nicely located. Just a note for coffee and tea lovers-none in the room. I would stay here again."

The medina is not far from the Riad as well, and if you book tours, all tour groups ask you meet at the nearby Hotel Andilab. Breakfast was included and entailed various breads, jams, and coffee. Omelettes could be added for an additional fee. Breakfast could be eaten in the lovely garden or on the rooftop. The hotel has a very nice view of the medina. The staff can prepare a traditional morrocan dinner in the garden courtyard upon request (this was expensive and without alcohol). The location was in the medina (tell cabs Ziat gait) or take a 25 minute brisk walk from new town to get there. A 15 minute walk will get you to Jewish quarter and Blue gate (where most of the sights are). This walk was fine during the day, but uncomfortable at night. There are no sights or restaurants right next to the Riad so expect several long walks or negotiate cabs (should be 15 dirham to/from the train station in new town, but the cabs will quote you 40 and you'll have to negotiate - if you have luggage it's tough to negotiate). We requested a guide for the medina. Our guide was well-informed, reasonably priced, and spoke perfect english. The other nice part about Riad Dar Chrifa is that the price quoted is your actual price. There were no extra fees for phone calls, holding luggage, taxes, etc."

Riad Medina is in the centre of the Fez ancient Medina; an oasis of calm set against the bustling alleys. You may choose to rent the entire house, or, subject to availability, just a room or suite.

The Double en-suite used to be a single room with a private terrace there is a HUGE terrace with amazing views at the top of the house ......we have now converted the private terrace (which was always in the shade and seldom used by our guests) into another bedroom (the Garden Room). This had the advantage that (without the need for a door to the private terrace) we could fit a double bed into this room. Although the room is cozy in the winter and the aircon cools it down really quickly in the summer making it one of my favorite rooms. The bathroom is a wet-room with a shower and Moroccan style basin.

Riad Medina is a traditional house, in a style which is typical in Morocco, has been lovingly and sympathetically restored to an exceptionally high standard, keeping many of the original features and additional luxury features.When you stay in the house it is not just a vacation rental but a true Moroccan experience.
