This is an old hotel with lots of character and ambience and great, friendly service. It has a big pool and private beach with lunch restaurant as well as a restaurant and bar in the main building. We did stay in the first floor, which was next to the kitchen but really no problem. Located conveniently between St. Anne & St. François. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay 💜"

The breakfast buffet--included in the room rate--is a very nice plus. French is mainly spoken but they'll accommodate your English with gaps in interpretation. The beds are mostly singles, with double or full consisting of two singles pushed together. The shower was nice and hot from solar heating. The facility is eco friendly. There us a restaurant just across the road, since they don't provide dinner or lunch. The pool is unheated, and can be icy cold. My friend and I gave it a go, and felt slightly numbed by the experience. The internet only functions while near their offices in the veranda. The best fact if the hotel is it's great proximity to Gran Anse beach, and a quick drive to Deshaies where you'll find most if the restaurants. "

Instead, individual apartments owned/managed by private persons on an abandoned hotel ground which needs some maintantenance. Hence, the description of the "hotel" is quite misleading: * 2 standard/plain restaurants: 1 is a low-casual one with simple grill menu. It is also the only place you can get breakfast, where they have a fixed breakfast menu. The other restaurant is trying to be posh but is just a standard tourist restaurant where you can experience food being sold out and they eg. doesn't have freshly squeezed juice as one might expect from both considering the location and how they promote the restaurant. * The bar/snack delight/grill etc. is comprised of the 2 above restaurants * The spa is 1 massage spot in an open spot on the beach * There is no gym * There is no casino * There is no laundry service; though I had a washing machine in my apartment * I didn't see body nor paddle boards available * There is no golf training/course/cart/shop, fishing kayak nor snorkling options * Designer shop was more like a tired upscale tourist shop with an extremely limited selection goods * Small supermarket with very limited selection of groceries - it is also the coffer Pro's: * Right on the beach with available/free beach chairs and umbrellas * Apartment has A/C, wifi and a good equipped kitchen * 4 nice retardants 6 min walk * My owner was very nice and welcomi"

You walk through the smallish swimming pool, through a gate to the beach - albeit not swimmable. But walk 50 yards to the right and you are on the Club Med beach (which is public), and is a gorgeous beach. You can rent chairs for a day from Club Med for E10 or just spread your towel. There is an ok beach bar there. Instead of turning right from the hotel, if you turn left you can walk about 1 km along the ocean front to reach the St. Anne public beach. Another plus for this location, you are about a 5 minute walk to one of the nicer restaurants in St. Anne, Kote Sud. Highly recommended, reservations are a must. Otherwise, you probably have to walk into town for other restaurants. The restaurant at the hotel is also ok. They can call a taxi for you if you wish to go elsewhere. Taxis are expensive. Taxi fare from airport was E60. Rooms themselves are basic, just what you might expect for a 2 star hotel, but they were clean. Staff was very friendly but only a few could communicate in English. Generally the same everywhere in Guadaloupe. If you go, it's helpful if you have command of a few basic phrases in French. "

- "The room was nice and spacious and the view was beautiful, though it was annoying having to insert the room card into the slot to get power. And the closet and shower were a little annoying. Patio kitchen was something new and "different". Activating the WiFi was really tricky. Staff was helpful and some spoke English, but check in process was so slow and the paperwork was only in French. Lots of restaurants in the area, but they don't open 'til mid-day, but there's a small store. Beaches, bus stop and hiking nearby. However, I deducted one star as we had roaches in our room on two different nights and toiletries were limited and we also had no water on our last morning. And I think the breakfast should cost half of what they're charging. The automated e-mail requesting additional payment or you'll lose your reservation gave me a real scare. I thought it was a phishing scam and almost canceled my cards and my entire trip. It would have been nice for Expedia to state that this fee is already included in the payment and to ignore the automated e-mail. But my biggest complaint is that while the property IS operated by Karaibes Hotel, it is actually called "Residence les Yuccas", NOT "Karaibes Residences". "Karaibes Residences" are a private apartment complex completely separate from the hotel. This information was not clearly communicated to us, and we must've spent well over an hour trying to get into every building in the area, before a maid finally told us where to go. "
