- "Apart from a minor issue at check-in where we'd been allocated a twin room rather than the double we'd pre-booked* we've just returned from another wonderful stay at The Bull in Long Melford. As usual the room was excellent, toasty warm and spotlessly clean and all the staff at the hotel were very polite and friendly. Our rate included breakfast and the 2nd morning we went without the Full English option as the sausages and bacon weren't to our taste (but never have been). We did try them on the 1st morning as it's a while since we've been but sadly they haven't improved. This wasn't an issue as the sour dough toast we had on the 2nd morning was absolutely delicious and I can thoroughly recommend it. * Resolving the issue was a little more problematic than I expected but I guess it can be difficult when the check in gentleman was having to deal with a central, corporate booking system. Ultimately though it was resolved and didn't have a negative impact on our delightful stay at The Bull, nor will it stop us returning as it is a terrific hotel with delightful, very clean rooms and is staffed by wonderful people. 10/10 again. 👍 "

Built in 1450 the Bull Hotel is a timber house in the charming East Anglian village of Long Melford. The former Coaching Inn offers rooms with attached bathroom and fine food. Reflecting the Bull’s history, bedrooms are furnished in a traditional style. They feature bathrooms with showers and baths, TVs, free Wi-Fi and tea/coffee making facilities. The Crown Hotel is in the centre of the high street in Long Melford, north of Sudbury. The en suite bedrooms are well-appointed and have a flat-screen TV. - "This was the 4th time staying at the George and for the last 2 times ive a room with a very small tv. So s.all on this stay that watching the football i had difficulty seeing who was who and were the ball was. Otherwise the staff are friendly the meal i had very good. Next time unless i have a room with the bigger tv screen i wont be able to book. Neil" - "The staff and hotel were lovely and the location was great for what we needed. Although it was very lovely and quiet at night, We did struggle to sleep comfortably as the mattress was quite springy and uncomfortable and the pillows for myself personally were either too soft or hard and big but that is a personal preference and you cannot please everyone. The rooms themselves were both lovely that we had booked. A double and a family room both lovely rooms.We did have a powercut to our room which meant we could not shower in the morning but that wasn’t a major deal for us and being a Sunday there wasn’t much they could do to get someone out quickly but the staff were quick at least trying to look themselves and see if it was an easy fix. Would definitely stay again. Thank you"

The George & Dragon has a selection of comfortable rooms. As an old coaching inn, the rooms all have different character and layouts. All have private bathrooms, tea/coffee, TV, and Wi-Fi internet access. The inn features a yard with a heated parasol, secluded gardens, and ample parking at the rear. Live music is provided on Saturday nights until 23;00, as well as a disco party on Fridays until 23:30. Please note that this hotel is not near Stansted Airport, which is a 35-minute drive away.
