I used a taxi to visit old town Marmaris which is a 25-30 min drive from the hotel. If you are looking to have access to restaurants or entertainment this will not be the right hotel, but if you are looking for boat rentals, yacht rentals or just peace and quiet, this is the perfect place. - "Zakros is a little slice of heaven. My wife and I came for our honeymoon and will always treasure our time there. Waking up every morning to see the Mediterranean was a gift, as was the jacuzzi/bathtub on the balcony where we watched sunset over the sea each day. The staff is wonderful and almost too attentive. We came from the USA and they were able to accommodate us in English. The room itself, while not super luxurious, was perfect for our needs: a solid step above glamping but not a full resort. Not only were the breakfasts delicious, but the view was excellent, too. The pool is, surprisingly, a welcome addition, as well. Be aware that Zakros is fairly isolated, which in some ways is a blessing but also makes it hard to see the rest of the area. The staff can help arrange for taxies and boats for transportation to other beaches and towns but they add up and require cash. Overall, we almost want to keep Zakros as our secret so that it won't be too busy when we come back. We loved it there and can't wait until next time!"

The sundeck on the water is very nice with beautiful views and the swimming is perfect. The walk from the hotel to Kabak beach is over rough rocks but is doable. The beach itself is very nice and not crowded with a good quality restaurant right on the beach. The area has a hippie vibe and is very relaxed. It was not crowded even at the peak of summer season. There is small boat traffic in the bay. The breakfast at the hotel is excellent and the coffee is good. The hotel staff is very helpful. Currently, the hotel is not directly accessible with a normal car. Do not attempt the road with a typical rental car. It is difficult to leave the hotel for supplies and for alternative restaurants. Dinner at the hotel is fairly expensive. The breakfast is the highlight as far as the dining. The pool area is very nice. There are no bathroom facilities directly at the pool which is a minor negative. The rooms are fairly rustic cabins but are nicely furnished inside. The lighting inside the cabins is a bit weak but the beds are comfortable and the views from the cabins are wonderful and well shaded. There is no hiking directly from the hotel. Small boats can be taken for 2 to 3 hour trips directly from the hotels dock. I would recommend this day for people who want a laid-back, beautiful, quiet relaxing stay. Stop at a grocery before the hotel for supplies and snacks."
