The staff was very helpful and friendly. The breakfast and dinner buffets were good. They have water filling stations throughout the hotel. Oh, the gym was not usable. They had 2 treadmills (one had a loose belt), an elliptical and a bike (both not working) and a total of 10lbs worth of dumbbells. If you don’t have a car, an overnight stay here maximizes your time in the park. Their shuttle does pick up and drop off at the bus station. That’s what we did."

I was told that no bus goes direct to Alishan from Fenhiqu only a couple go to Chiayi City. The city is a better base if getting rooms in Alishan is difficult because buses to Alishan leave every hour. But Fenqihu itself is a nice quiet tourist area with a quaint train station and lots of forest trails and not crowded. Yahu Hotel is located in the old street and very close to the train and bus stations. The reception office is in another building across the pedestrian street. The staff is very kind and accommodating. She even accompanied me to the bus station so I won't be able to miss the only bus in the morning. If you want peace and quiet in a forested environment then Fenhiqu is a place to go. No crowds!"
