This cottage has 2 separate units- the "Kobuk" and the "Chinook". Each unit has a private, secured and separate entrance. Both consist of 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, kitchen and living area. Your unit, the “Chinook”, is the lower unit. Both units can be rented together to accommodate 4-6 guests. We are flexible with what we can offer you, if you have a specific need, let us know prior to your stay.

This listing is for the separate lower level of our home; it has a great view, recently renovated with lots of light, private access and driveway. - "Great property, excellent owner and has to be one of the best views in Anchorage." - "The property was as described, with a mid-century modern vibe and a functional new kitchen. Although it's a downstairs unit, it didn't feel like it other than the occasional footsteps overhead. There is a pullout bed in the living room that the host had made up for us. After a late arrival, it was easy to take a short Lyft ride to the property. There's a passenger train that passes occasionally across the street, but we barely heard it inside. The area around the property is very residential and felt safe. The location is a 15-20 minute walk to many places to visit, including Fire Island Rustic Bakeshop. Anchorage Museum, El Green-Go's Taco Truck, Tony Knowles Coastal Trail, New Sagaya City Market and 49th State Brewing. One suggestion would be to have heavier curtains in the bedrooms to block the summer sun. I deducted one star on communication, because after reserving far in advance, I received no communications about the check-in process. I emailed 2 days before and texted 1 day before our arrival. I finally received an email the morning of our departure. In the end, all was good, but it did make me worry. I would recommend staying here."

The time of year you plan your stay plays a big part with this easily accessible, clean and quiet condo on the edge of downtown Anchorage just off of the park strip. In the summer the park strip is full of activity and is within walking distance to downtown where you would probably be spending most of the time due to the warm and long Alaska summer days. In the long Alaska winter if you are willing to brave the short chilly days and participate in outdoor activities, it is super cozy and warm to come back to and recharge. There is also a grocery/cafe/deli store 2 blocks away.

This property is located in the Valley of the Moon neighborhood. Directly behind the property lies Valley of the Moon Park, a 21.78 acre community-use park located between downtown and midtown along the Chester Creek Greenbelt. It’s one of Anchorage's most popular parks and features a children’s playground, two picnic shelters with grill stations, a community garden, a ball field, a fenced off-leash dog park, a parking lot as well as open space, forest and a stream that hosts spawning salmon in the summer. The park is accessible two houses down and across the bridge. Here you will access Chester Creek trail which crosses under major roadways spanning across Anchorage connecting with the Coastal Trail. From the bridge, continue on this path and It will lead you to the scenic West Chester Lagoon just a mile or so away.

For an easy, scenic walk in Anchorage, access to Chester Creek Trail is at your door. The 4-mile-long path, which runs from Westchester Lagoon to Goose Lake, is not only flat, but also paved, making for an easy stroll. And though it passes close to neighborhoods, the trail is part of the city’s “greenbelt”—a wooded area that makes you feel like you’ve left the city behind. Chester Creek intersects with the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail, which has plenty of photo ops.
If you're looking for public transit, several of the main bus lines are just a few blocks away.
Local cab services, Uber, and Lyft are also active in the area and take minutes to arrive.

- "Lovely place. Great beds and loved all the windows. Well stocked. We took a short walk to an awesome coffee shop called Chickadee. Good kitchen for cooking and snacks. Keep in mind it does sleep six. There are two nice mattresses you can pull out and put in the family room but note per the listing it’s very bright in there so bring an eye mask. Fine for our teenagers but they did say it was a little hard to sleep at night as it stays bright and bright in morning. Once we got them sleeping masks at Walmart it was all good. Wonderful hosts and cool spot. Super clean and a great stay all around."

We are finishing a fulfilling remodel of our huge basement apartment with private entrance, laundry, kitchen, and full bathroom.

We are family friendly and love to learn about guests, especially for a chance to habla español.

The location's ideal! Walking distance to the Delany Park Strip, the Coastal Trail, restaurants, bars and cafes. As well as the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts, the Anchorage Museum of Art, a small grocery store, fresh fish market and more!

The space
The pictures show us almost done with final layers of paint and then rearranging furniture and our place is all yours!

This basement apartment is large and private. There is one bedroom but if desired we have a queen mattress we can bring down and set up on the floor in the sitting room to accommodate children or adults comfortable with a mattress, with all the comforts of linens and pillows. The kitchen is full stocked with all your cooking needs. We love to prepare our own foods when we travel and want others to have that option of feeling like they are truly at home. There are window well windows so it's great for sleeping- even with the summer sun. Since we are right upstairs we can help with any questions or needs promptly- text is best.

Check-in and check-out times can be adjusted as available so if you need to come early or stay late just ask and if we can we will happily accommodate the need.

You have access to the downstairs apartment which includes a large living area, kitchen and laundry room, bedroom, bathroom and sauna once we have it up and running- estimated Jan 2024 . There is a private entrance at the back of the home which you will be able to use to come and go as you please.

Other things to note
Our children are joyful and curious. If you like children ours will likely be happy to read a book with you, learn about where you are from and your culture, and especially play hide-n-seek, tag or four-square.

They are full of energy so waking hours they can be bouncing and running about but they are in school M-F so there are only a few hours of noise from them a day. Mostly 7-8am and 4-6pm. We keep them outside and on our second floor as much as possible to accommodate your privacy and comfort.

Please feel free to let us know if you need to get to bed early or are planning to take a nap and could use some extra quiet.

This is a basement apartment - each bedroom and the kitchenette have daylight windows. There are two bedrooms, each with a comfy full-sized bed. Each bed is elevated high enough to allow suitcase storage underneath. Full closet in each room. Maximum of 4 guests. The apartment is not child-proofed but children are welcome at your own risk/discretion. The small couch in the sitting area opens into a single- size futon which may make a better bed for a small child.
