The Space:
The lake house is newly decorated for style and comfort. The perfect place for family vacation, girl’s getaway, hunting/ice fishing, or a couples retreat. The lake house offers two furnished bedrooms with queen beds, a living room with sleeper sofa, a separate entry/sun room that can be blocked off for sleeping which includes a sleeper sofa, and a 43" smart TV (Netflix, Hulu, and blue-ray DVD player available). A single bathroom with shower. The Kitchen is well-equipped for all your culinary needs, refrigerator, stove/oven, and microwave. A dining room table overlooking views of the lake with seating for 6. The deck boasts 16X21ft with Adirondack chairs, gas grill, and outdoor patio seating and chairs.

Being right on the lake means you have access to our 40ft dock where you can spend your days fishing, or jumping into the lake to cool off on a hot summer day! 8+ Fishing poles available. If fishing isn't your thing, feel free to enjoy kayaking (2 available), SUP’s (2 available), our four person paddle boat, or large floating mat 6x15ft (life jackets available). If you bring a boat, you can tie it up to our dock as well, but wouldn't suggest tying it overnight. The outdoor yard space also has a tire swing, double bench swing for star gazing, and luscious grass for outdoor yard games: can jam, giant yard size Jenga, and corn hole

Additional information for rental consideration: We continue to make improvements on our home with the money made from renting our home. Don’t be surprised if something doesn’t look exactly like the pictures as we are constantly making changes to the home to make it even cozier!

When our lake house is not rented an English Bulldog named Stewie visits here. If someone is allergic to animals, you may want to consider a different home to rent. This is also a family friendly neighborhood with great neighbors who have young children and friendly pets. These kids and pets run around the neighborhood and are fun to interact with. Children ages range between 2 to 8.

As this is our home away from home, we ask that you treat our house as your own and leave it in the condition you would want to return to your house in :) our cleaning fee only covers the initial cleaning for your arrival. We look forward to having you stay!

Guest access:
There are 2 entrances to the cabin: one from the front entrance, and one from the deck. To access the cabin the guest will be issued a pin code to enter into the key pad 24 hours prior to arrival.

Whether you are looking for a weekend away with friends or family time this ranch style lake cabin just over an hour from Sioux Falls is perfect. There is a open floor plan kitchen and living room with incredible lake views. This property has 75 ft of sandy beach and is only knee deep for a 100 ft off shore perfect for all of the water games. Have your morning coffee under the large covered porch while watching the pelicans catch their breakfast. Relax in the claw foot tub while enjoying a view of the lake. At night grill some dinner on the propane or charcoal grill and then enjoy a bonfire in the fire pit under the stars.
If you are a pheasant hunter or fisher this is the perfect spot for you with amazing fishing in the summer and ice fishing in the winter. There are 4 public hunting reserves within 15 miles for pheasant hunting.

- "Thank you, we had a great stay! I should tell you that you should check the back bedroom for fleas or bedbugs, or something. All three of my kids on all three mattresses in that room had to relocate and join us for last two nights of the stay. They were all three itchy and one had strange bites (not mosquito). The one bed in the small room and master bed were fine, not itchy. We saw jumping bugs in that hall bathroom (assume fleas) but not sure because we don’t have dogs."

Cozy Clean and well maintained beach front home located on South Dakota's 4th largest lake! Great retreat for relaxing, family fun, boating, fishing and hunting. We provide all your necessities you just need to show up and enjoy your stay.
We have our home professionally sprayed for bugs, spiders, mosquito's and may flies. Unfortunately May Flies are very annoying. They typically are only around in May. Wanted to be upfront so you are away of these pests! This is around the entire lake for all to deal with (:

There was a storm that was predicted to roll through one day, and she made sure to stop by to make sure there wasn't anything we needed, and even gave us an extra space to store our numerous lake floaties so that we didn't have to deflate them in preparation for storm. (Side note: There is a storm shelter under the house. We didn't ever need to use it, but it was a great comfort to know it was there.) The location was absolutely perfect. There is a nice grassy area right off the deck (that we used for playing yard games and sitting around the fire pit) and then at the edge of the grass there are a set of stairs that lead you down to access the beach and lake. (The stairs are very sturdy with a nice handrail on each side.) They also have a dock as well. We rented a pontoon for a day and loved having the option of docking it right at the house. We had such a wonderful trip and made some great memories. We are very thankful to have found this "gem" on beautiful Lake Poinsett. We can't wait to come back and stay again soon!"

The main floor has a master bedroom with king bed and a full ensuite bath. The main also features the kitchen, common area, full bath, laundry and access to the deck.
The basement has a queen and two full beds, an arcade and air hockey table, with with access to backyard.
The loft has a full and two twin beds.
The detached suite has a private entrance and is located above a 3 stall garage. This suite features a king and two twin beds with ensuite 3/4 bath. This area also has a small kitchen, and a living room with television.
This property is two lake lots! The east lot features the house and private dock for fishing & fun in the sun! There are bumpers on westside of dock for you to secure your boat during the day. Boats cannot be left tied to the dock overnight.
The west lot features our private beach and an open space above to enjoy outdoor activities. This space provides ample parking for your larger group.

Other things to note
The property has both a Propane Weber grill & a Blackstone griddle on the back deck, allowing guests to prepare fabulous meals while enjoying views of the lake.
3 kayaks will be in single stall garage or tucked away under the deck depending on the season.
Bean bag toss, a solo stove, bochee ball and other yard games are in the single stall garage.
Please check in a day before arrival if early check in is desired. Due to the number of guests we can accommodate, we need to allow for adequate time for the property to be cleaned. If the logistics work, early check-in is possible.

- "Beautiful cabin to stay at, great location and very cute and comfy. Host was very kind and helpful. We had a wonderful time fishing from the dock, relaxing by the lake, and the kids loved the private sandy beach to swim and play. The 3 kayaks provided was a big hit with our group. The host has many little extra touches they provide, which was so nice. The cabin is decorated so cute and is very roomy. It was a real treat to stay here for a week and just relax. We highly recommend this place and will be staying here again."

The lower level bedroom offers bunk beds; twin over full size bed PLUS a twin pull-out. Perfect for all the kids!

Lower level game room also has a couch that pulls out to a queen sized bed. The game room has a bar, popcorn maker, adult sized connect-4 game, and foosball table.

Deck area has plenty of seating, hot tub, grill, not to mention amazing views right on the lake. NEW in 2024 upper deck and furniture. The NEW round table on the upper deck our guests are able to enjoy a fire and good conversation.

It checked all boxes: a clean home with comfortable beds, a well-stocked kitchen, an outdoor space, and our number one for this trip, a hot tub. Since we visited when the lake was still frozen, we didn't get to enjoy the property to its full potential but we're from Wisconsin -- we knew what we were getting into. We were welcomed with a yummy spread left by Pam (hired by the host?). While we came for family time, we appreciated the two living spaces when we needed time apart. Despite winter's tight grip, we were still able to enjoy some gorgeous sunsets and sunshine. It was a bit of a challenge to regulate the temperature inside but we managed and the home was set up for all the possibilities (fans, heaters, blankets, etc.). We managed to cook some great meals, which our college student daughter appreciated. We planned to do the majority of our food shopping as we arrived not realizing how small-town the surrounding area was. Ward's, the local grocery store, is close by and was surprisingly well stocked for our unique needs. The hot tub water was a little "stale" but it wasn't dirty enough to keep us out. There were plenty of towels for our multiple ins and outs each day. The host was very responsive with all of our pre-booking and pre-stay questions. Our arrival was painless. Checkout as well. While sipping our coffee we fantasize about a potential future visit during warmer weather."

- "The place was clean and the beds were comfortable. Plenty of room for our 2 families. Location was good right up the hill from the boat launch." - "When we arrived we wanted to start making dinner as it was about 6:00. Every dish that we needed for dinner was dirty and there was a lack of kitchen items like pots and pans and baking sheets. The longer we were there the more we noticed the dirty, finger print covered doors, unknown hairs in the shower, and the grill that was very dirty. There was very little propane in one of the two tanks with the other tank being empty so my parents had to go and get them filled just to use the grill. The indoor stairs were not super sturdy and would shutter every time we would go up or down. We did really enjoy the yard for some yard games as well as the deck as the weather was very nice. The beds and pillows were very comfortable and we got some good sleep while we were there. Overall, the cleanliness would have been nicer."
