A seven-minute picturesque stroll to quaint but active West Portal with multiple eateries and eclectic shopping, with MUNI train lines for a 4-minute ride to the Castro, 11 minute ride to Powell (downtown SF). Or transfer after 6 minutes at Civic Center for BART for regional destinations, e.g. San Francisco Airport, 29 minutes. A cab from the airport costs about $60. We're about 2 miles from the UCSF Parnassus campus.

West Portal features numerous opportunities to hike through off-the-beaten-path, non-touristy neighborhoods in Forest Hill, Saint Francis Wood, and also Mount Davidson for stellar views of the entire bay. Easy ride (or 45-minute walk) to the San Francisco Zoo and the Pacific Ocean.

If you are here on business, there is an Express bus to downtown right outside my front door. If you are visiting as a tourist and wish to experience the real San Francisco, then my apartment is the logical place, do not get ripped off in the high priced tourist restaurants, eat where the locals eat, there are many Ethnic restaurants within a few blocks, have a beer at some of the best neighborhood bars in the city. If you really want to be a tourist, take a walk to the Cliff House for dinner.
I own the building, it has 2 apartments and a retail store, the other apartment is occupied by a retired school teacher, Vladimir and his wife, they both take care of my apartment for me, so just knock on their door if you should need anything during your stay.

- "We stayed at the studio while visiting one of our kids who lives in the neighborhood. I can echo all previous comments that the studio is very clean, with comfortable furniture, well stocked kitchen, and beautiful patio. The main commercial street of the neighborhood, Chestnut Street, is about a 10 minute walk, all perfectly flat. There are many great restaurants and local coffeehouses, and the Sunday Farmer's Market at Fort Mason was fabulous, particularly for a New Englander in December. My only very small comment that might help future renters is that the bed is in a corner against the wall, making it somewhat awkward for the "inside" person to get in and out at night. Laura is very nice, and was available and helpful. I would definitely return to this lovely location, thank you! "

Stay High Above the Rooftops of San Francisco’s Noe Valley

$950.00 weekly, 1 Week minimum stay, $2500.00 monthly Sleeps 2. Unfortunately, I am not able to accommodate children. San Francisco has two (2) taxes that I have to collect from guests. A Transient Occupation Tax or TOT (14%), also known at the hotel tax for short-term rentals. I agree, it's a bummer.

You'll love this sunny, cozy rooftop studio like room in the quiet San Francisco neighborhood of Noe Valley (even though there is a fire station down the block). You will have a panoramic view all the way from Twin Peaks to the San Francisco Bay. Today, Noe Valley is one of San Francisco’s most desirable residential areas full of Victorian homes, shops, restaurants and easy public transportation access, all in one of the sunniest parts of The City.

Watch the fog hover over Twin Peaks as you have your morning coffee as the warm sun shines through your windows on three sides of the room. Accommodations include a warm comfortable bed, cable TV and wireless Internet access. You will also find a half-bath with a beautifully tiled shower, wet-bar with large sink and small refrigerator. You will be provided with dishware, pans, and utensils to make simple meals with the microwave, electric burner, and toaster oven. Linen and towels are provided.

This beautiful rooftop hideaway has a separate entrance through a side passageway and up a back staircase. Must be able to negotiate stairs since access is up a circular staircase of 43 steps that are unfortunately not very child-friendly.

You will be in walking distance to restaurants and Noe Valley’s 24th Street shops. You can also catch the J-Church MUNI line just a block away that will give you direct access not only to the Noe Valley, Castro, and Dolores Park Neighborhoods, but also to downtown for the Cable Cars, Union Square, and the Embarcadero. BART is just a short 10-minute walk away.

Parking is on the street if you have a car, though you must be careful about parking and street cleaning restrictions during the week which goes for all of San Francisco. A washer and dryer are available on the premises as well as a cozy small deck on the ground level.

Noe Valley is a wonderful neighbourhood that has it's own main street (24th street) with many shops, cafes and restaurants. The neighbourhood quiets down in the evening, but there is plenty of night life close by in the Mission district. Dana was an excellent host, who helped us get navigated in the city and waited up for our very delayed flight upon arrival. He was available when needed and unobtrusive when not. We would definitely stay here again. Heed the stairs warning...but if you're exploring San Fransisco hills and stairs are par for the course!"

It includes Mission Dolores -- the oldest building in San Francisco, and Dolores Park -- one of the most popular parks in the city. As you may know, the Castro (centered 4 blocks west) is the historic gay center of San Francisco -- it features restaurants, bars, the Castro Theater, shopping, and an ever-increasing number of coffee shops and day spas. The Mission (centered 3 blocks east) is a historically Latino neighborhood. It, too, features restaurants, bars, the Roxie Theater, shopping and an ever-increasing number of coffee shops and boutiques.

Access:
Private entrance to your own efficiency studio (including bathroom) - this is not just a room in a house! You will be assigned a unique code that you can use to access the unit at any time during your stay: no keys needed.

Transit:
San Francisco has excellent public transportation, and all of it is easily accessible from here.
The Muni J-Church line is two blocks away and will take you downtown; it also connects with other lines that can take you to virtually any part of SF. The Castro and Church stations are four blocks away.

The 22, 24, 33, and F all stop within 2-4 blocks of the apartment and will take you to various parts of the city.

BART is also nearby -- the 16th & Mission station is only five blocks away.

There is a bike share station 18th and Dolores street 3 blocks away. In fact, everything you need is easily walkable, so you don't need a car.

If you do have a car, free on-street parking is available. Parking spots are typically ample, and with notice you can use the private spot in front of the driveway. However, there is a 2-hour parking limit for non-resident vehicles from 8am to 9pm Monday through Friday. That means you need to move your car every two hours during the day. Nights are easier -- if you park your car after 7pm you can leave it there until 10am the next morning.

All that being said, temporary parking permits are available. They eliminate the 2-hour restriction so that you can park all day. Please contact us for availability and pricing.

There is no closet in the unit but we have hooks for hanging. If you need a closet, please do not reserve this unit as I have a separate unit with a closet.

On street parking is available (and plentiful!) for evenings. Otherwise during business hours, there is 2 hour free parking on the street without a local resident permit.

The space
This property has been a family home for decades, thus the residence is deeply cared for and maintained. The home is an Edwardian built is 1911, and accented with Asian art, fostering a clean and cozy zen atmosphere. Wake up blanketed in San Francisco fog or sunshine in the calm and beautiful Laurel Heights/Jordan Park neighborhood.

Guests will stay in a private bedroom and bathroom and its own entrance. There is a comfy queen size bed and amenities in the bathroom. This space is separated from the rest of the house by a privacy door for guests. Beyond the door there is large family room with a coffee/tea station, utensils, dishes, cable/streaming TV, books, mini fridge, and light snacks. Freshly ground coffee and milk is available upon request. There is a microwave and toaster oven in the kitchen which is available for guests. This space is shared with me though I keep my time in there to a minimum when I have guests. Guests may also relax on the deck outside the room which gets lots of sun on a clear day.

I provide parking on site in my driveway if you have a car. There is free street parking at night and on weekends as well.

Guest access
We have a driveway where you can park free of charge. Just let me know if you have a car, so I can leave it open for you. On the weekends and at night there is also free street parking. To get to the accommodations walk down the driveway to the right of the house where there is a private entrance with a keypad. We will send you the door code and other instructions a few days before you arrive.

During your stay
Guest privacy is important to us, though I always enjoy meeting our guests. Having spent many decades in the City in this neighborhood and love to give activity and dinning suggestions. Feel free to phone or text me if you have any questions or problems. The living room is shared with me though I keep my time there to a minimum when I have guests.
