I received ANOTHER message “apologizing for the inconvenience and understanding my concern” But asking AGAIN, to let the investors in. I again stated that no, I was not comfortable with that. THEN someone called me on the phone and tried to force me into saying yes, and making it seem like there was no choice. After asking if I had the option to refuse they finally let it go. I spent the rest of the day trying to figure out if I was going to have to deal with someone coming by again or more harassing phone calls. It put quite the damper on a spring break trip for my kiddos. "

It was nice and cozy while still having plenty of room for my family of 5. The Mexican restaurant right next door had incredible food, we ate there several times! We never felt unsafe as the neighborhood is a "transitional" neighborhood. I walked half a mile to the Aldi for groceries and down the street to McDonalds for coffee. We mainly took Ubers to and from where we needed to go. I can't overstate how cute this condo was and simple things like plenty of fresh PLUSH towels, coffee and filters ready to use and even umbrellas for that occasional Chicago summer rain. My host kept an open line of contact with me and was always available. Beds were all plush and comfortable. I suspect the condo has recently been remodeled and a lot of love has gone into this unit. Our Ubers downtown to Fulton Market for eating and to Union Station ran about $17. Our Ubers to McCormack Place ran about $12. Two of the bedrooms have windows to the street and some street noise is detectable. The smaller room doesn't have a window to the street so it is normally very quiet. I encourage you to stay at this property."

- "We loved the place and had plenty of room for all of us. Very centrally located to downtown Chicago, and Chinatown. Beds were comfortable. Rooms were clean and spacious. Really appreciated the kitchen supplies and condiments available. Only suggestion is kitchen needs more sliverware and would love to have more seating area in the living room. One sofa is not enough. Another suggestion is placing a TV in every bedroom. For a large group, I highly recommend this place. Would definitely stay here again!"

- "I enjoyed my stay and it made Chicago affordable " - "Nice, cozy little space. Host was most responsive. Kitchenette area was small but good enough. She had left some food (noodles & oatmeal packets a nice variety of granola bars for us to partake, which was a nice touch. The only reason for an overall rating of four stars out of five was that we were three adults, and while the couch did make for a bed, that was not comfortable enough by any means. In fairness, the host did bring out an inflatable air bed, but sadly that too had a slow leak, and we just decided to make do with the couch."

Not a party house! Strict rules against any parties or any smoking in the home. If you are looking to party this is not the home for you! We do have two RING cameras. One at the front and the back entrance. Do not block the cameras.

We may require an ID & signed Rental Agreement or a refundable deposit prior to check in.
We do NOT allow late check out. There is a charge of $25/10 min after 11AM.

We do not have keys or access to our mailbox.

We do have Ring Cameras outside the property. Any blocking of the cameras will lead to an automatic eviction, forfeiture of security deposit, no refund and a fine. Please do not block these cameras

- "We had a great time in Chicago. We brought our children, my parents, my husband’s Mom and both of our sisters to celebrate our son graduating from UChicago Law School. The listing said it slept 10. For us It actually slept 8 and that was still tight. There was an air mattress in the closet that we didn’t use. My son and Dad slept half of each night on the ends of the couch, not pulled out as a bed, due to being so cramped in their beds sharing them. My sister in law and mother in law thankfully had decided to stay in a hotel so we ended up with 8 with us. With only two bathrooms that’s also an issue for 8 people trying to get ready to go anywhere. It’s all doable and the savings of staying in one place versus paying for three hotel rooms for four nights was still worth it. The location was good, we aren’t city people but felt comfortable by the next couple of days in the area, we had a car so we learned about reading the signs like they recommend or you will get a ticket(the owner kindly reimbursed us). I’d love to see more towels, washcloths(there weren’t any until we asked), sheets(there were no top/flat sheets) for that large of a crowd. Seating for that many to hang out at night together needs improvement, maybe add another couch or a sectional. I don’t usually leave reviews but realize how I need them for myself when deciding to stay somewhere. My famous line is you can’t smell a picture, this place didn’t smell bad, was clean, we made the most of the space. Thank you."

3. Respect quiet hours - Keep noise levels down, especially between 10:00 PM - 8:00 AM. Failure to respect quiet hours or disturbances from an unauthorized gathering will result in termination of the reservation without refund and may result in additional fines to pay city tickets or HOA fines for violations.

4. Check-out on time - Please vacate the unit and return any issued keys by the agreed check-out time. Late check-outs will incur a $250 fee.

5. No smoking - Smoking of any kind is prohibited inside the unit and on the building premises. Evidence of smoking, including odor, will result in a $500 remediation charge. Local laws also prohibit smoking within 15 feet of any entrance.

6. Lockouts & lost keys - A $150 lockout fee applies per occurrence. Lost keys or remotes will incur a $50 replacement fee each.

7. Lost & found - We are not responsible for lost items. If something is left behind, we will attempt to locate it and ship it at your expense. Please check all drawers and closets before departure.

Our unit brings some relaxation in a very lively, young, and fun part of town. Pilsen is arguably the most fun neighborhood in all of Chicago with things from great food, live music, live theater, and of course, bars/restaurants. This is a great location with restauraunts around that I'm frequenting always. Cool pubs are down the street. It's directly across from the National Museum of Mexican Art, which is free. Free parking.

Parking is free. Be sure to read the signs to know if street cleaning will be arriving. They usually come from the month of April every 4th Monday between the hours of 7AM-9AM, or something like that. If you're driving and would prefer to drive to The Loop instead of paying for the train, then be sure to download the app, "Parkwhiz."

I like to interact with guests but respect their privacy just the same. You will be given your own key to the apartment and can come and go as you please.

This neighborhood is considered an up and coming area for artists and is hip. Within 1 block there's an internet cafe, called The Jumping Bean El Cafecito and The Intersect; And Delicious Mexican restaurants, El Mesquite & El Milagro. Bars are within walking distance, too. The Barrel is a local one. They also sell alcohol there where you can walk out with a purchase. There's a liquor store next to the 18th St. train station and a Family Dollar- which if you buy something there you can withdraw money and the ATM fees are only $1.50.

The Pink Line train station is less than 5 minutes walk to my place.
The bus #18 on 18th St. is 1 minute away.
Bike rental is available next to the train station.

If you're able to send me an inquiry about certain dates then those dates are, indeed available and I'd love to host you. For everyone's safety I do request that guests upload a picture ID to AirBnB's website along with a proper name.

Train and bus passes can be purchased at any train station and the attendants are very helpful if you have any questions. It's $20 for a 3-day pass and $28 for a 7-day pass for both bus and the train. And to rent bikes for 24 hours for $15/day and $3/ride.

Guests can have as much privacy as they would like. To insure safety I require guests to upload their drivers license or passport to AirBnB's website. You’ll have your key to the bedroom, too, so, no privacy will be given up.

During your stay
The Front room is in a two-bedroom apartment and the other room Ziggy and I stay in. Ziggy is my Portuguese Water Dog. He has hair not fur so he’s hypoallergenic. To insure that the place remains clean, each time I take him out when it rains or snows he wears boots to prevent any dirt that would have accumulated on his feet from getting onto the floor, rug, or couch. And, in the entrance way, when returning from outside we take the boots off. He’s a very sweet boy and doesn’t have a mean bone in his body. During the day if I’m home you may find me reading at the dining room table, watching Youtube or Netflix, cleaning, or talking on the phone. I attend class some evenings.


To insure safety I require guests to upload their drivers license or passport to AirBnB's website. Of course, you'll have your key to the bedroom, so you’ll have your own privacy.

We are a family-run boutique homestay SPECIALIZED IN LONG STAY. Minimum 32 nights. We offer LIMITED services and pass on the savings to you. Host(Patt) stops by for common areas routine cleaning once a week or as needed (just let her know). Once a long while, she might ask you a favor when she is out of town, for a quick help like taking kitchen trash out to backyard bins. Not include cleaning services for private bedroom and private bathroom -- We provide dish soap, vacuum and basic household cleaning tools.

We provide a clean and clutter-free living environment. We need your help to take off exterior shoes by the entrance door and clean/tidy up kitchennette and living area right after use.

We have outside cameras at the front and back doors of the building and they are monitored. No inside cameras. Please do not book and walk in front of my neighbors home to smoke. We are simply not a good fit for smokers. You will be asked to leave immediately if you smoke or have visitors.

We have a full kitchen, stove refrigerator and microwave. We provide a Keurig coffee pot, coffee, cream & sugar. Hair dryer iron, ironing board, hand soap, shampoo & conditioner, linens and towels and laundry soap.

You will have a personal code to a smart lock on your private bedroom door. Please be considerate of other guests when coming in and out. Street PARKING IS FREE but not always easy. We are a family-run boutique homestay SPECIALIZED IN LONG STAY. Minimum 32 nights. We offer LIMITED services and pass on the savings to you. Host(Patt) stops by for common areas routine cleaning once a week or as needed (just let her know). Once a long while, she might ask you a favor when she is out of town, for a quick help like taking kitchen trash out to backyard bins. Not include cleaning services for private bedroom and private bathroom -- We provide dish soap, robot vacuum and basic household cleaning tools.

We provide a clean and clutter-free living environment. We need your help to take off exterior shoes by the entrance door and clean/tidy up kitchennette and living area right after use.

GUEST SAFETY is very important to us. Most guests stay a few months. We have a board listing when a new guest is expected to arrive - no surprised strangers in our house. We double check a guest identity. In addition to airbnb standard verification, we ask all guests to provide a picture ID to pre-checkin, before we send out house entry instructions.

ECO-FRIENDLY: We appreciate your help toward our environment. We are not extreme, just ask a practical approach that you are comfortable with: Turn off lights that are not needed. I opened 2 private rooms in the Rodriguez Home. The space is great for students or remote workers. The entertainment room is a family museum I created. Gym and Kitchen available.

18th street Pink line is around the corner, which can take you to the downtown area in less than 15 minutes. The Illinois Medical District is one train stop away. You can also rent a Divvy bike near the train station and take the 18th street bike path to the downtown area or continue to the 18-mile beautiful lakefront path.

Local Scene
Many restaurants, bars, and breweries line up this historical gem's street. You'll find great murals everywhere that were painted by local artists and you can even walk down the street to the free National Museum of Mexican Art.

The space
Thanks for viewing. This place is perfect for college-aged or young professionals, but everyone is welcome, including LGBT peeps, people with disabilities, all immigrants from any and every country, all women, minorities, international travelers, marchers, and everyone else. Positive, safe, and fun energy is welcome here.

Parking is free. Park on Wood. Be sure to read the signs to know if street cleaning will be arriving. They usually come from the month of April every 4th Monday between the hours of 7AM-9AM, or something like that(URL HIDDEN)
I like to interact with guests. You will be given your own set of keys to the building and apartment and can come and go as you please.

This neighborhood is considered an up and coming area for artists and is very cool. Within 1 block there's an internet cafe, called NiteCap, and delicious authentic Mexican restauraunts, Los Camales and El Mesquite. Pubs are easy to walk to. I recommend Simone's but Harbee's is closer. It's also next to a park and a Mexican Museum. There's a liquor store right next (West side) of the train station and a Family Dollar- which if you buy something there you can withdraw money and the ATM fees are only $1.50. So I go there to get laundry cash all of the time... and where I get my Junior Mints.:)

The Pink Line train station is less than 5 minutes walk to my place.
The bus #18 on 18th St. is 1 minute away.
Bike rental is available next to the train station.

If you're able to send me an inquiry about certain dates then those dates are, indeed, available and I'd love to host you. For everyone's safety I do request that guests upload a picture ID to AirBnB's website.

Train and bus passes can be purchased at any train station and the attendants are very helpful if you have any questions. It's $20 for a 3-day pass and $28 for a 7-day pass for both bus and the train. And to rent bikes for 24 hours it's $7.

During your stay
The vibe of The Flower Power room is that it's similar to a hostel, but with private rooms. It's a 2-bedroom apartment and the other room, The Sugar Skull Room, https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/6957460, also has AirBnB guests. You will have the opportunity to meet other travelers if you want or have as much privacy as you’d like.

I find that guests who enjoy staying here are those that truly enjoy interacting with other guests. So don't be afraid to chat with your flat mate, share a story, grab a meal together, or explore the wonderful city together, if you're inclined.

To insure safety I require guests to upload their drivers license or passport to AirBnB's website. Often, guests enjoy each other's company and sometimes attend the same events, so it enhances their Chicago experience. And, of course, you'll have your key to the bedroom, too, so, again, no privacy will be given up.

There is no room service except for common area, move-in and out cleaning. Simple maintenance tasks are expected from guests. Please read carefully before booking to make sure this unit fits your needs:

Checkout time is 10 AM. No check in assistance is provided after 11pm. Between 10pm and 11pm, please let the host know in advance, a number can be provided for check in assistance. If you wouldn't be able to find the check in information in the listing, or are not familiar with US appliances and would need a lot of assistance with late arrival, please consider booking a hotel instead.

This dwelling is not a hotel. Common area is cleaned once a week or as needed. There is no staff on site to clean up after guests. Good communication from guests are highly preferred, please let me know directly when things need attention (pictures preferred) during your stay (but not after) and do not ONLY send issues to Airbnb. The notice we received from Airbnb has no details nor pictures, it might take 48 hours or longer to get issues resolved if we couldn't figure out what is wrong. Please be specific, avoid general comment like "the room is not clean" or "the fridge is not working well".

Bath towels are provided, limit one per guest per stay, but please use your own if you are able to bring one. Washing bath towels uses a lot of water and detergent. You can help the environment by helping us to reduce laundry. Please let the host know if you have your own.

Other things you might notice:
- Flint on linens: it's not dust. All linens are washed and air dried, I do not use dryer, if you see grey fussy stuff, it's flint.

For guests who are not used to living in a shared unit, please note that simple maintenance is expected from guests:
- wash your own dishes
- throw out trash when it's full
- clean out the strainer after shower or cooking
- clean inside the microwave, fridge and floor if your food item spilled or exploded.

Please keep in mind that while most guests are clean, quiet and easy going, hiccups do occasionally occur depending on who is in the unit. Here are examples of incidents I had before for your consideration when booking a shared unit:

1. Guest shedding hair and not cleaning up fast enough (extreme case with medical condition): maintenance person can help by sweeping up more often, but it won't be perfect.
2. Loud sounds coming from morning alarm, online video classes, or from upstairs if you stay on the first floor when it does not go with your own daily schedule: I will communicate with both sides to try to find a middle ground that works better for both. Guests are encouraged to communicate with each other as well. However, results vary depending on the situation and the individuals involved. Changing rooms or moving out early with refund for the rest of the days are doable, please do communicate.

With the above said, here are some differences of home stay compared to hotel for your reference:
- less storage space for towels and linens.
- fewer resources, no front desk and 24 hour services. Guests need to be self-dependent to some extent. Longer wait if e.g. toilet is clogged or fridge is broken.
- More interaction with roommates and neighbors. Please let host know any issues during stay, but guests are also encouraged to communicate directly with other people.

Please bring your own toiletries as I do not provide soap, shampoo, conditioner, combs, toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc. If you are on an extended stay feel free to use the kitchen and the tools provided at your leisure however you should immediately clean all dishes, dry them and put them back where you found them, please clean up after yourself. Clean, respectful, drug-free, laid back and not too loud as we should respect others sleep schedules. Absolutely NO outside guests, drugs or alcohol are allowed. General Policies:

Guest Age Policy – Guests aged 18-24 may book on an exception basis. Please include your age, reason for booking, and who will be staying with you in your inquiry.

Local Guest Policy – Local guests are permitted to book on an exception basis only. Parties, gatherings, and group events are strictly prohibited. Unauthorized gatherings or events will result in termination of reservation without refund.

Primary Guest Responsibility – The booking guest must stay for the full duration and is responsible for all guests. If booking on behalf of someone else, please contact us to discuss exceptions.

Parking – Street parking may be available but is not guaranteed. Read all posted signs to avoid tickets or towing. To secure a spot, use parking apps like SpotHero or ParkWhiz.

City Noise – Some ambient noise is part of city living.

House Rules:

Please respect our home and neighbors. Violations of ANY of the following rules may result in fines and/or termination of your reservation without a refund.

* No parties or unapproved guests – Only registered guests may access the property. Parties, gatherings, and group events are strictly prohibited.
* No additional visitors – Only those listed on the reservation may enter the property. Any additional visitors must be declared and pre-approved.
* Respect quiet hours – Keep noise levels down, especially between 10:00 PM – 8:00 AM. Failure to respect quiet hours or disturbances from an unauthorized gathering will result in termination of the reservation without refund and may result in additional fines to pay city tickets or HOA fines for violations.
* Check-out on time – Please vacate the unit and return any issued keys by the agreed check-out time. Late check-outs will incur a $250 fee.
* No smoking – Smoking of any kind is prohibited inside the unit and on the building premises. Evidence of smoking, including odor, will result in a $500 remediation charge. Local laws also prohibit smoking within 15 feet of any entrance.
* Lockouts & lost keys – A $150 lockout fee applies per occurrence. Lost keys or remotes will incur a $50 replacement fee each.
* Lost & found – We are not responsible for lost items. If something is left behind, we will attempt to locate it and ship it at your expense. Please check all drawers and closets before departure.

Additional Policies:

* Guest verification – To comply with legal and security requirements, you may need to sign a rental agreement, provide a government-issued photo ID, confirm your contact details, and submit a selfie matching your ID.
* Guest screening – Guests must have a positive track record on the booking platform and provide details about their stay and the guests traveling with them.
