This part of Ballard is among the most peaceful yet close to the action of Ballard. We are west of 24th which is less busy than east of 24th. We are one house off of 28th, the boundary of all single family homes to the west, again a more relaxed area than to the east. You can easily walk to the Green Grocer, Olaf's, Rupee, Kimchi House, Samara & Piccolinos on 32nd-walk! and Copine (Michelin rated gourmet restaurant!) and the new gourmet place ADDO which are due east on 24th and 63rd. If you want a more extensive grocery selection hit QFC on 24th and 57th. Walkable! And just two more blocks is Market Street and Ballard Avenue, the main streets in Old Ballard. Ballard Ave. is one of the best streets in Seattle full of shops, restaurants and pubs! If you are in town on Sunday a must attend is the Ballard Sunday Market on Ballard Ave!

This first floor, nice and warm 450 ft2 studio is conveniently located in the heart of Ballard. Just 0.5 mile from is quaint downtown. The neighborhood is safe and friendly. And, one of the most coveted by the locals because its many attractions and conveniences. Ease of access to transportation and within a 5-10 min drive to downtown Seattle.

Many of our guests leave their car parked at home to avoid the hustle of finding parking or having to pay for it, they simply walk down on 24th Ave to Market St. Just 5 short blocks away are two of our favorite bakeries, Café Besalu and next door, Tall Grass Bakery. They make artisan breads and pastries, the best in town. There are other small businesses on 24th like Olaf’s a nice pub literally around the corner. A hamburger joint Scooter’s and a nice big grocery store (QFC) with free underground parking for getting your groceries. Our guests have also told us they enjoyed and appreciated very much the convenience of grabbing bus #40 at the street corner and riding to downtown Seattle.

The studio is in the first floor of our property (not a basement) it has easy access with only three steps from street level. The Neighborhood.

Ballard was a city of its own in the past founded when cars didn't exist. It was later absorbed by its bigger sister city Seattle. For this reason, it can still feel like a small town retaining its downtown, working waterfront and old businesses open to date. Many warehouses and storefronts though, have been converted to tasty new restaurants, like our favorite Mexican, La Carta de Oxaca on Ballard ave.

Public Transportation.

Seattle is a city with a solid public transportation when it comes to buses.
We are located less than half a block from the bus stop. You can take routes #18 and #40 at our block corner of 24th and 64th; both will take you to downtown Seattle. Route #40 also goes to the Northgate Mall in its northbound route. Route #44 on Market Street will take you to UW.
If you have a smart phone you can use Google maps and chose the public transportation option when planning your route. You may also find very useful the OneBusAway App with real time transit information, timetables and route planing. This App was first develop here at home at the UW and it is now in use all over the US and abroad.

The apartment is the top unit of our triplex so it does not gets footfall noise. It has it own private entrance with a keyless lock and is cooled in summer, heated in winter with an HVAC system.

We are conveniently located in the heart of Ballard, near the corner of 24th Ave NW and NW 64th St. with easy access to public transportation, bus #40 and #18 stop at the corner of our block. We have many restaurants, grocery stores within walking distance. The neighborhood is famous for its nice restaurant, pubs, bar, cafes, bakeries and outdoors activities.

The rental comes with the standard amenities to start your stay that you would normally find in a hotel like: clean linens and towels, iron and ironing board, hair dryer, soap, shampoo, coffee maker, toaster, toilet paper. Please remember we are not a hotel and we do not refill these.

Every square inch of the place was well thought out in terms of clever use of space and all was spotlessly clean. The bed was super comfortable, there was a workspace available for remote work, and the kitchen had everything one could possibly need for any meal to be prepared. Nicole and Kurt were excellent hosts and it was obvious that they both enjoy their role welcoming guests to their lovely Hummingbird. The location within Ballard couldn't be better with a grocery store, restaurants, retail, and parks all within walking distance of half a mile or so. We took the bus to downtown Seattle twice and it was around the corner and right on time. We did have a car because there are so many wonderful day trips throughout the area and there was always a parking spot available in front of the Hummingbird. The cycling throughout Seattle and the greater area is wonderful and, it wasn't the easiest thing for them to do, but we were very grateful that Nicole and Kurt kindly stored our bikes overnight for the two weeks we were there. It was a wonderful stay and I hope we will have an opportunity to visit again."

If you’re looking to take advantage of Seattle’s liberal marijuana laws, there are plenty of edible options available to you at various local shops. We could charge you up to $1500 in cleaning fees afterwards for any smoke present in the house. This is not fun for you, us or our future guests who might have to inhale smoke.

Open and uncluttered, the space is airy and comfortable with sun-dappled views of mature Japanese maples. It doesn’t get much more Seattle than an urban Tudor in one of our older neighborhoods. Please use the recommendations you’ll find in the house for restaurants and things to do! There are so many wonderful things to eat, do, and see nearby.

The mattresses in the bedroom are LOVELY - high quality memory foam. Mini-split heating/cooling system allows you to control the temp separately for the two floors so you can stay super cozy all night long.

FYI there are about 12 stairs from the sidewalk to the front door and the bathroom is located on the second floor. While families of all types are welcome, we do not have high chairs available or child-proofing of any kind. Parties are prohibited.

We provide coffee for your first morning in town but you’ll want to pick up a bag of ground coffee for the drip machine and/or French press for the rest of your stay.

Please keep in mind that this is an older home with less than ideal insulation between this unit and the unit below. We ask that shoes be removed upon entry and tv and/or music volume be kept low at all times. Quiet hours start at 10pm, both indoor and outdoor. Smoking legal substances is perfectly fine in the backyard but no smoking or vaping in the house. Note to chefs and wannabe chefs - please use the vent above the stove while cooking. The smoke alarms are connected throughout the whole house so if one goes off the whole house will beep, including the unit below.

Your pets are adorable but please leave them at home. Also, driveway is shared with the neighbor so please park on the street - always plenty of spots available!
