Relax in our 600 sq ft remodeled cabin in the Indian head region of Northern Wisconsin. This rustic-modern cabin has a 15' x 23' foot great room with a 15' ceiling and lots of windows overlooking Axehandle Lake. The kitchen is equipped with a full-sized stove, refrigerator, and microwave hood, and fully stocked kitchen ware. The quaint 12' x 14' bedroom has a queen sized bed, along with a twin over full bunk bed that can accommodate up to 5 individuals. The bathroom has a 36" shower, vintage sink vanity, and washer and dryer. If you enjoy an architectural look, with high ceilings, a mixture of oak and galvanized metal siding, and fresh white trim, then this is the place for you. The best part of the cottage is the 9' x 14' screened porch to enjoy the outdoors, listening to the wind whistling in the tall pine trees and looking over the lake below. AC has been added for cooling on those hot days as well!

Non-motorized boats are available (canoe, 2 kayaks, and row boat) to explore the 86 acre lake that is clear and great for fishing or swimming. Life jackets and paddles/oars are provided. Or just sit down on the new dock and fish off shore if you prefer using our vintage aluminum, webbed lawn chairs. In the evening relax by the fire pit, roasting s'mores, or inside playing games, watching movies (flat-screen Google TV with limited channels, DVD, and ability to link to your streaming services) or doing puzzles for a remote but relaxing vacation away from the everyday grind. Wifi is available. Note, we have it furnished and decorated as our vacation get-a-way, so not just the bare rental minimums you might find elsewhere! We rented the pontoon for our group which makes for great lake excursions. We took advantage of the city docks for a quick ride to town for dinner and exploring downtown Chetek. While we struggled finding fish on the lake, we caught blue gills right of the dock back at the house! Welcome to Papa's Place!

Our comfortable 2 bedroom, 1 bath, lakefront house with a beautiful sunroom. The entire house is yours to feel at home in. It is just steps down to the private dock and grassy lawn. The wrap around patio has a gas BBQ grill and plenty of seating. The balcony overlooks the lake where you can read a book, throw your lines out, or watch the Hydroflites ski show just half block away- which is also where the public boat launch is.

Across the road is a public park with a large playground, and a couple blocks north is the public swim beach. The downtown area has antique stores, restaurants, bars, pubs and more, as well as a grocery store to get yourself stocked for your stay.

There are plenty of fun places to boat to for lunch or a drink. Some of our favorite are Red's Grill and Bar (https://redsgrillandbar.com)(really good pizza), Pokegama Lakeside Cantina (https://www.pokegamalakeside.com) for upscale Mexican, or Gilligan's (https://www.gilliganschetek.com/menu)for a lively atmosphere. And they all have live music pretty often too! Our favorite is probably Phills Bar and Grill (https://www.yelp.com/biz/phills-bar-and-grill-chetek). A very casual place with a surprisingly amazing menu.

This quiet cabin can provide a relaxing getaway or a memorable family vacation. We rent Friday to Friday in the summer months and two night minimum in the fall, winter, and spring. We are located right on Ten Mile Lake in Chetek WI. Inside you will find an all stone gas fireplace and pine siding just right for a northwoods retreat. We have a full kitchen and bathroom. There is a dining area and a couch to relax on and watch the water or the fire. The bedroom on the main floor has a queen size bed and upstairs you will find a sizable loft with a TV/VCR and a futon. Pull the shades for a cozy romantic evening or let the sun shine in and enjoy the sceenery. Outside there is a semi-private yard, fire pit, and picnic table for each of the two sides of the cabin. There is also a shared dock with a pontoon that is available for rent, and a play structure with a sandbox.
