Guest access
You will enjoy complete access to the Cabin and acres of wide open space. Sit on the porch with your favorite beverage or snack and splendor in the amazing sunsets for which the Cabin is so named. Your view will be framed by the Vermillion Cliffs of the Grand Escalante Staircase National Monument to the north and the Chocolate Cliffs to the south. Once the sun falls behind the cliffs to the west, you will be treated to a 360 degree sky full of stars and the entire Milky Way.

Palomar Estates is a few minutes east of Kanab in wide open space south of the Vermillion Cliffs and north of the Chocolate Cliffs.

Getting around
Here, a car is required to access the many parks, sites and destinations that we have here in southern Utah. A high-clearance 4WD vehicle is recommended for off-road adventures to remote places in the Kaibab National Forest, Vermilion Cliffs or other wilderness areas.

We watched the sunset every night and the rocking chairs were a huge hit with my husband. The rental is situated with homes nearby yet far enough that you still have a lot of privacy. We traveled with our pets and as a pet friendly place, you would never know other pets have been in it. It was very clean. Although we enjoyed going in town for dinner each night, it had all the amenities you'd need if you preferred to eat at home. We really soaked in the quiet nights since we live in a city where noise pollution is over the top. We even booked an extra night while there because we didn't want to leave. Our only recommendation to travelers: while rental units can't satisfy every type of sleeper (soft vs firm mattresses) - if you're used to soft mattresses, travel with a small topper. However, this would not deter us in any way from going back to this rental. It was fantastic! And we can't wait to go back when it's not as cold so we can take in the fire pit and grilling outdoors! Last, communicating with the host - very responsive and fast to accommodate any of our needs. Top-notch!"

The off-grid aspect is especially memorable and adventurous with systems in place that provide amenities in creative ways but still extend the gift of unplugging, simplifying, and reconnecting with those you love. Enjoy the solitude, serenity, *STARGAZING!*, and simplicity of this sweet little spot in God's country while still being close to many of the biggest attractions of the area--the North Rim, Zion's, Bryce, etc. This rental was formerly a full-time off-grid residence and is equipped for every-day living.

- "A lovely little "eco-stay" cabin, with a solar system, composting toilet, hand pump well, and a rainwater harvesting system. All things that were a delight! Stayed there with my wife, 8yo daughter, and dog, and was just enough space for us. We used it as a base camp to go visit the surrounding national parks, and was a great fit. Directions given were clear, and we found the cabin easily, despite it being relatively far off a paved road. Host was excellent, and made sure we had everything we needed. The new swamp-cooler was much appreciated (as it does get pretty hot in the summer, but that wasn't a surprise). Would recommend as the alternative to a boring hotel/motel option! -S"
