Nestled next to the Vaal Dam, this charming country guesthouse boasts breathtaking 180-degree views of the water and surrounding nature. With a spacious living room, dining room, and fully-equipped kitchen, there's plenty of room for you and your loved ones to relax and unwind.

Please note that you will be driving on a dirt road for the last 9km to the house.

The space
Elim is of Conservation and Rehabilitation of ALL resources.

We are trying to implement a zero-waste farming system as well as a minimal carbon footprint. We are completely independent of any municipal or state supplied services. We take care of our own waste in a responsible manner, use borehole water for household consumption, and have now dispensed with our electricity supplier also.

As of June 2023, we have been OFF-GRID. We rely on SUN ONLY to generate all the electricity that the farm requires. This capital-intensive option was chosen to fit in with our philosophy, as well as to offer those affected by our unreliable and inconsistent electrical supply some respite and relaxation knowing that there will be power available at all times, but certainly measures need to be implemented.

We ask you to take note of the following:

- Please use electricity sparingly, particularly at night and during cloudy days when our systems is not generating at all or at a reduced capacity. During sunny days we produce enough electricity, so there is no problem. Nighttime use depends on battery charge and supply from the sunny hours and is limited. We use an automated system to switch off all non-essential electrical appliances, pumps etc.

- We have installed gas geysers so that energy is not wasted on keeping water hot when it is not being used

- The electrical oven has been disconnected. Ovens are a huge electrical consumer, and thus judicious use of the microwave and air fryer are welcomed. Naturally, using firewood, charcoal and the braai facilities are the most fun and most energy friendly options!

- Hairdryers and all heating elements use lots of electricity, so please use only on real bad hair days!

- We rely on 'clean' borehole water, which is pumped during sunny conditions, and have a large tank to store this for your use. (Our scarce 'clean' water is only for household use - we use 'dirty' water for all irrigation purposes, and this too is only pumped during sunny days.) The house water is produced by a booster pump which will be active day and night to ensure decent water pressure for you.

- All lights, plugs, TV etc. in the house will be on 24/7. We have installed a use limiting 'breaker' in the electrical distribution board. Should the total house consumption be excessive, this may 'trip', causing a bit of 'load shedding'. The emergency light at the DB in the passage should come on, and the switch can be 'reset' - turned on again. Should this happen repeatedly, please make sure that all large power using appliances are turned off. A typical situation would be when there is simultaneous use of the kettle, microwave, booster pump and the hairdryer!

- Soon we will have a fireplace installed in the main lounge. There will always be a large stock of firewood, and we urge you to use this.

We sleep configurations of 2's; 4's; 6's 8's and more in our modular apartment which overlook the bay; Cozy Corner; Tree Tops and The Penthouse - each boasting jacuzzis for your own, private, personal use in each apartment.

We are situated close to the Vaal dam . It is a house with 3 bedrooms each with an ensuite bathroom, a double garage, DSTV and a large erf. We are a block away from the vaaldam where there are nice fishing spots. The house is decorated tastefully and equipped to make your stay comfortable as everything you would need is availble. We have someone that will meet you at the place to hand over the keys and to take you through the house and adress all your queries.

A very comfortable family home within a game farm on the Peninsula of the Vaal Dam. We have a private water front for launching your boat or fishing. There are many acacia trees on the property for you to laze under. In the evenings you can get a bonfire going in the boma. You can run, cycle, or just walk around the estates 10km’s of dirt road to check out the area

Vaal Dam Getaway is a solar-powered, self-catering holiday home on the banks of the Vaal Dam. It is ideal for families, friends, and fishing enthusiasts seeking a tranquil retreat.
Guests can experience spectacular sunsets and night views of Deneysville and the dam wall. Sightings of free-roaming animals such as springbok, zebra, and ostrich are common.
Guests are welcome to bring their equipment for fishing, camping, canoeing, kayaking, and windsurfing, which can all be enjoyed during the stay.

The space
This free-standing house can accommodate up to 8 guests and comprises 3 bedrooms and a loft area as an additional sleeping area.
The main bedroom has a double bed and an en-suite bathroom with a bath, shower, basin, and toilet. The second bedroom has a double bed and a separate bathroom with a shower, basin, and toilet.
The third bedroom is upstairs and has a double and single bed, while one double bed and three additional single beds are available in the loft area. The third bathroom in the loft area has a bath, shower, basin, and toilet.
The kitchen is equipped with a fridge-freezer, a gas stove, an oven, a microwave, and a dishwasher. A laundry area equipped with a washing machine is also available. The living area offers comfy couches, a TV with DStv, and a dining area.
The house opens onto a patio with a built-in braai, bar, and outdoor furniture, which leads to a firepit outside.

Guests are required to sign a Short-Term Rental Agreement during check-in.
Guests should bring along their drinking water and firewood.
The property is powered by solar power. To prevent power outages, guests must avoid excessive power consumption.
Buying all groceries needed for your stay in one of the bigger towns or cities on your way to the property is advisable.
The last leg of the trip consists of a dirt road. The condition of the road is unpredictable and may deteriorate at times.
Due to the location, the property manager stays on the property. The property manager shall respect guests’ privacy and shall not substantially interfere with the guests’ reasonable enjoyment of the property.

The space
THE HOUSE.
The house is an open plan design with high ceilings giving a feeling of unlimited space. All finishes are modern. The loft has a large TV with "Open View" decoder and plenty of space for the whole family to sit and enjoy a movie. Uncapped Wifi is available at no extra cost.

THE KITCHEN.
There is a fully equipped kitchen with gas stove top, oven, dishwasher, microwave oven and fridge/freezer. Pots, pans, crockery and cutlery are supplied. The venue is "self catering" so please provide your own food, hot and cold drinks and condiments.

THE GARDEN.
There is an attractive landscaped garden with acres of space.

THE ESTATE.
Situated on a private Eco Estate with free roaming wild life. On arrival, Joseph will point out the boundaries of Featherstone Lodge. You are welcome to fish and enjoy your other activities freely within this area. No motorized vehicles are allowed on the Common Property of the estate, except for access purposes.
Please respect the privacy of other residents. Do not trespass on to their private property and no loud noise or music after 10.00 pm.

On the quiet side of the dam with minimal water traffic, even on weekends and during the holidays. There is unlimited space to boat, ski, wakeboard or sail.

SLIPWAY AND JETTY.
We have a private slipway and jetty - so bring your boat and jet skis. All boats and jet skis must have a current COF and all drivers must be licensed as the water police patrol the area regularly. Quad Bikes, four wheelers and motorcycles are NOT ALLOWED at Featherstone Lodge.

MAID SERVICE.
Daily maid service is available for an additional fee which must be paid in cash to the maid each day on completion of her chores. This service can be arranged through Joseph on arrival.

LAUNDRY SERVICE.
No laundry service is available at Featherstone Lodge.

NEARBY TOWNS.
There is no public transport. Featherstone Lodge is approximately 6 km from the village of Oranjeville where there is a service station, a hotel, shops, liquor stores, pubs and restaurants. Deneysville is approx 25km away. Deneysville is a larger village than Oranjeville and boasts more facilities.

ARRIVAL, DEPARTURE, KEYS AND SECURITY CLEARANCE.
On arrival you will be met by Joseph who will take you on a tour of the property. He will be able to answer any questions that you might have. Check in time is between 2.00 pm and 6.00 pm on the day of arrival. Check ins after 6.00 pm will attract an extra charge of R500.00. If your arrival time is after 6.00 pm, no staff will be on site to give you access to the property. For arrivals after this time special arrangements will have to be made IN ADVANCE. Please note that we will require the registration number of each vehicle that will visit the estate, as well as the number of guests in each vehicle, to arrange security clearance before you arrive.

Check out time is 12.00 noon. Late checkout will attract an additional charge of R500.00.

PETS.
Given that the lodge is situated in a nature reserve with free roaming wildlife, pets are NOT ALLOWED at Featherstone Lodge.

Guest access
On arrival the boundaries of the property will be pointed out to you by Joseph. You are welcome to fish, play games and enjoy other activities within this area.

Please respect other residents of the estate. Do not trespass on their property, no noise or loud music after 10.00 pm and no parties.

NUMBER OF GUESTS.
Eight guests can be accomodated in the 4 bedrooms and there is a double sleeper couch in the upstairs loft which can be used for an additional two guests, giving a maximum capacity of 10 guests. Linen for the sleeper couch is supplied. Guests in excess of 10 will be charged for at a rate of R400.00 per person per night, irrespective of age. No linen is available for additional guests.

FIREPLACE.
For cold winter evenings there is a modern sealed fireplace in the living area. Wood and fire lighters can be purchased on site or you are welcome to bring your own. Payment for wood and fire lighters must be in cash and be made to Joseph. Wood is sold at R50.00 per bag and fire lighters at R25.00 per packet.

LOAD SHEDDING & POWER CUTS.
We do not have a backup generator on site. Candels are provided in case of Eskom load shedding or blackouts. Water is supplied to the house by an electric pressure pump. Power cuts can, therefore, effect water pressure.

QUAD BIKES, FOUR WHEELERS, MOTORCYCLES.
Given that the house is situated in a nature area, quad bikes, four wheelers and motorcycles are not allowed.

Temperatures can drop to very cold in winter with icy mornings and evenings so pack windbreakers and cozy winter accessories. The sunsets are spectacular in winter to witness around the Boma fire outside that will keep you warm during the night.
Summer temperatures are high, so remember sunglasses, hats, sunblock and mosquito repellent. Light jackets for evenings are always a good idea for summer and rainstorms.
If you like exercise, bring your sneakers for walking or hiking especially during those fresh mornings.

The property is architect designed and is situated on a game farm with free roaming game around the property. A little over an hour from joburg and sleeping 15 with expansive waterfront views makes this house the ideal getaway

The space
This eco friendly, off grid, striking architectural home has been designed for entertaining. When thinking of a word to best describe the house, "barefoot luxury" comes to mind. The living room, kitchen and games room all open up with glass stacking doors on 2 sides to the expansive patio with majestic elevated views over the vaal dam. There are 5 bedroom suites in the main house which share 3.5 bathrooms and there is an additional outside en-suite guest suite. All rooms have full height glass doors that open onto the garden with unobstructed views over the vaal dam. The house has a bar and games room that form part of the main entertainment space. A stunning boma, braai and pizza oven all sit adjacent to the stunning rim flow pool and large covered patio comfortably seating 14.

Guests have access to the entire property and exclusive use of the private waterfront

Other things to note
The property is on a farm and the last 5km are on dirt roads, generally the roads are in great condition but after excessive rains the roads do get very muddy and 4x4 access is advisable

The property is located within a security estate and the names of all guests as well as their registration numbers needs to be provided 24 hours prior to your arrival.

Below are a few items we feel you should know about the property so ensure to enjoy your stay and avoid any miss comings.

Maid Service

The house is cleaned and prepared before and after your stay. The cleaners will come in most mornings to clean, make beds and do dishes.

Power

The house is powered my means of solar panels and batteries.

The house has enough battery and power capacity for all guests to enjoy a comfortable stay but please use electricity sparingly and do not waste otherwise you will be sitting in the dark early in the evening. Unfortunately, lengthy periods of bad weather do affect the power availability and for this we have a back up generator. If the power does go off generally Oncemore will start the generator automatically.

The use of heaters is strictly prohibited

Please note the house does not have a microwave due to the high power consumption

Water

All our water is derived from a borehole on the property. We have had the water tested and it is safe to drink, however it does have an earthy taste so bring your own bottled water if you are fussy about your water.

Ice machine

There is an ice machine located at the bar. It needs to be manually filled with water and does produce ice slowly, so for large groups it is advisable to bring extra ice

We will have the ice machine full upon your arrival

Smoking

Smoking is not allowed inside the house and must be done on the patio or in the garden.

Please don’t leave stompies lying around, ash trays are provided.

Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi is free to all guests.

TV

We have a TV in the livingroom with a smart box with Netflix, Disney +, Prime and YouTube. The Tv is also fitted with a Chromecast for streaming.

Music

The patio and Livingroom have speakers fitted. We are on a game farm so please don’t play music excessively loudly.

There is an aux cable fitted to amp and guests are welcome to connect their devices to the amp.

Parties and extra visitors

We do not allow parties to be hosted at the property. The house has a capacity of 15 people. The total number of guests may not exceed 15 without prior arrangement. This includes additional day visitors.

Firewood

Firewood is provided free to all guests. If guests use an excessively large quantity of wood guests will be charged for extra wood used.

Please only use the wood provided at the fireplace for internal use as it is properly dried.

Please do not use the briquets as these are for our own personal use.

Swimming Pool

The house has a swimming pool, and it is not fenced nor does it have a net. Guests use the swimming pool at their own risk and all children must be supervised around the pool at all times. We do not take any responsibility for any incidents that may occur

Animals on the property

We have ducks, chickens, rabbits and Guinea pigs on the property. Guests are welcome to visit them but please ensure all gates to the enclosure are closed upon exit and entry. Please do not chase of catch the animals. They will come to you if you take them treats and sit quietly.

The house doesn’t have any curtains to enhance the indoor outdoor feel of the home. The property is completely private as there are no nearby neighbors.

Twin Peaks is a farm style log home that has the feeling of a private resort. Over-looking the water this 3Ha property with 2500 sqm of planted lawn has it all. The property is an entertainers dream. The Lapa features a snooker table, poker card table and table tennis. Full-length stacking doors open up onto the floodlit tennis court, massive pool and Jacuzzi, as well as a volleyball court and large sports surface and waterfront stage. with so much to do you will never be bored.

The space
7 beautifully decorated bedrooms in the main house sleeps 15 guests comfortably, 3 of these bedrooms have an en suite bathroom and the other 4 bedrooms share 2 common bathrooms,

kitchen has all the necessary items to prepare your home cooked meals and there's a big open plan lounge and dining area, please note the house is not a 5 star hotel but it has all the amenities for an enjoyable stay,

Guest access
There's a 7 km dirt road from the main tar road to the house and during the rainy season this road can become very muddy which makes it difficult for low clearance vehicles. high clearance vehicles are recommended during the rainy season,

The entire property is for the use of guests and its not shared with anyone, there's a separate cottage on the property which doesn't form part of the main house however should you wish to use this space for extra guests arrangements can be made before hand for a extra fee

Winter months can get icy cold and even though we have the basic heaters in the house it still gets icy cold, there's an outdoor fire pit which can be used so be sure to bring along plenty of firewood.

Guests are requested to bring along there own personal hygiene items such as shampoos, body wash, perfumes etc, general dish washing liquid and hand soaps will be provided.

Borehole water is being used in the house which hasnt been tested for drinking purposes so we recommend you bring along bottled water for drinking purposes,

Fresh towels and linen are provided upon check in and will only be washed or replaced for bookings longer than 3 days, should you require a cleaning lady to do basic cleanups each morning prior arrangements can be made and you can deal directly with the cleaning lady regarding agreed fees etc.

All care is taken to have all items maintained and in working order however being such a huge place things do go wrong and should something not be working on arrival it will to the best of our ability try to fixed but in the unfortunate event that it cant be fixed and such item is not classified as a necessity then no claim of refunds can be made against the owners,

lastly should anything not be to the liking of any guest then upon arrival and as soon as possible the owners should be made aware of it so that should the guest want to vacate the property for a full refund arrangements can be made provided the reason is justified such as in terms of a health and safety concern etc,

Other things to note
The massive pool is not fenced due to it being build as an infinity pool overlooking the dam so special care should be taken especially with kids, the pool is however raised above the ground but still extra care should be taken, unfortunately the owners, staff and management cannot and will not be held liable for any loss or injury caused by any means whatsoever.
