The rains did come in the late afternoons and the trekking was a little muddy, but I think it is likely the best time to gorilla trek and/or look for the golden monkeys. Everything is lush and green, no crowds and a discounted price. In terms of the lodge, we cannot give enough praise. The lodge itself and the rooms are beautiful and absolutely wonderful. WiFi was available in the main area and in our room. The staff is kind, welcoming and attentive to every detail. All meals were absolutely wonderful. We were surprised by daily massages being included, and they were extremely appreciated after all the walking. Upon our return from daily activities, staff cleaned our hiking boots until they looked better than new. Every afternoon and evening, a blazing fire greeted us in our room and at night, warm water bottles were delivered to keep us cozy. Book without hesitation, you will be delighted with your stay. "

The staff are friendly and helpful and engaging. Breakfast offers a cold buffet and cooked to order (full English breakfast available). Lunch can be chosen from 3 options given each day. Breakfast and lunch are served as you arrive. Dinner is a different approach. It is a community meal that begins promptly at 7pm. Dinner includes an amuse bouche, soup, salad, palate cleanser, main and dessert. This is not a tasting menu. The servings are generous and tasty. If you're a bird lover, you will be delighted. - "I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel it’s important to share my experience at Tommy’s Budget Rooms. Upon arrival, I was first given the wrong room, which had a broken shower and exposed electrical cables something that felt extremely unsafe. The bed was in very poor condition, with an unpleasant smell, and the towels provided were old and worn out. Loud music played until 4:30 a.m., making it impossible to sleep. When I approached the receptionist, he explained that he had no authority to ask the guests to lower the music. The situation became even more concerning when some of the guests, who were drunk, became aggressive and even threatened to damage my car if I kept complaining. I attempted to contact the owner, Anthony, multiple times during the night. When he finally answered, he told me he couldn’t help and mentioned that he didn’t even have details of my booking since it was made through Expedia. This left me feeling both unsafe and unsupported. Overall, I experienced no rest, no comfort, and no sense of safety during my stay. This is not something I would expect from any accommodation, regardless of price. I truly hope the management takes these issues seriously and improves conditions for future guests."
