The only sad thing on our stay was flying/leaving the island."

For a week stay, with no tissue flushing down the toilet, the amount of garbage bags provided was not enough. For cooking, there is only oil and vinegar and no salt and pepper which was usually a staple in household. Internet was a bit slow accessed from the bedroom but strong in the living room. No universal charger was provided so world travellers, bring your own converter. Make sure to request bedroom with private bathroom and access to balcony reserved for the parents. Owner mixed up and that’s disappointing! Owner was flexible for early check in and late check out with cost. Owner was helpful when we asked for assistance on taxi and available anytime you’ve asked them. With anticipation and what we know now, we would book again. "

We arrived early on our first day in Sao Miguel, and the staff let us store our luggage at the house while we waited. They were even able to move up our check-in time. Our room had an excellent view of the neighborhood below and amazing, high ceilings. There was even a thoughtful welcome snack offered as well as a bottle of water. Every morning, we were served excellent breakfast at the site, including assorted fruits and breads. The staff also directed us to safe and easy overnight parking options. From the island of Faial, a boat leaves every day for the island of Pico and São Jorge, which is in the first case about 25 minutes away at a price of 3.60 € and for São Jorge about 2h25, € 15. Visiting these two islands does not imply the chek-out of our accommodation, the trips are made several times a day, thus enabling the morning and return journey at the end of the day.

Unfortunately I spend too much time working and too little free time and may even happen that we don't get to know face to face during your stay.

The House is sited on a very typical residential row houses. You will feel the neighbouring vibe if you go to the grocery store or if you just walk around.

Take notice that you will sometimes ear airplanes landing or taking off. Though its very common for us, inhabitants, listen them just because airport is very close to the city, you may feel uncomfortable. Anyway, my house has double glazing windows. But full disclosure.

The Handmade House Azores is located on the north coast, in the tea valley of Porto Formoso, next to the Gorreana Tea Plantation.

Our strategic and central position, between Furnas and Lagoa do Fogo, makes it the perfect place to sleep and explore the beauties of São Miguel, which can be easily reached in 5 to 30 minutes by car.

Our AL is in front of a marine protected area and has a garden overlooking the valley, the sea, a forest and the bell tower of Porto Formoso's church.
